Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

I really need a tracker for calories but I just don’t think I could find the time to weigh all the individual ingredients.
I can see why people use meal replacement shakes and ready meals.
My diet has been very on and off all week but body lotion is a flipping revelation! Should have don’t that ages ago! Face cream and vitamins continue. And I’ve got ‘Foot Cuddler exfoliating mask’ for my feet for tonight.
14 weeks until school holidays. Must lose two stones by then. 2lbs a week should be doable.

I'm old fashioned and bought myself a beautiful notebook which I have been writing everything down in religiously since February. Most meals are calories counted and food labelling has been a revelation (who knew that there are so many calories in a single rasher of bacon) but I will sometimes give up and just estimate. Wednesday evening was an example of that, when I was eating out, so I put in a generous approximation. I took DD to Wagamama at lunchtime today and had carefully planned what I would eat, but it was off the menu & had to do a quick change of plan. There is so much info online now that it is relatively straight forward to keep track. It does make you think before you eat if you do monitor every mouthful.

Stickerrocks · 06/04/2018 16:54

Please tell me more about foot cuddler. If my feet were properly exfoliated, I could probably get another pound off on the scales & lose an inch of height!

glitterbiscuits · 06/04/2018 21:31

Sticker I read about Foot Cuddler somewhere on MN. Bought from Amazon where they have good reviews. I’ve currently got my feet in them. They are a bit like a plastic bag with some gunge in. I can feel my feet beginning to tingle now, so something is happening. There are various acids listed in the ingredients. Could take up to a week to work. I will report back.

Your notebook sounds lovely Sticker! I'm using the WW app - caved in and bought some of their snack bars at my meeting too - not keen on them as they have so many artificial ingredients but during TOTM I really crave sugar Sad don't think it's worked though as I am still really flipping hungry!

I could NOT get MFP to link to my Fitbit and gave it all up in a bad tempered huff...

Stickerrocks · 07/04/2018 06:44

Hmm on the snack bars. I decided that I would rather eat a small amount of something like Green & Blacks choc or a bag of French Fries (all "proper" food) than eat diet crap resembling polystyrene tiles. I used to live on SW HiFi bars, but they didn't resolve the underlyi g issue that I wanted to eat something tasty. A book I read once called something like Beyond Chocolate advised me to keep a stash of really nice, good quality stuff which is available if you want it. Then you have a genuine choice and can make a rational decision instead of forcing down a diet bar, still feeling unsatisfied, so topping up with more crap to compensate. My treat tin has everything in individual portion sizes of under 100 calories. If I want something g, I stop & check a couple of minutes later that I do want it, write it down, then eat & enjoy it. The portion control & "niceness" has helped me avoid stuffing my face.

Stickerrocks · 07/04/2018 06:47

Back to the notebook, I refused to start calorie counting for 5-6 weeks after DH started because I had to find the "right" one & a decent pen. I sense I'm channelli g my food obsessions in a different way! Meanwhile he has a plain black exercise book covered in Viz stickers which he found in a drawer!

mama2005 · 07/04/2018 08:38

@stickerrocks you beat me to it re feet! When mine get particularly troll like, it’s a sure sign I’m not taking care of myself generally. Love your notebook idea too. @glitterbiscuits how are your feet this morning?! @RubySlippers77, don’t know how long I’ll last with MFP before it drives me demented, but it’s at least making me stop and think!

Stickerrocks · 07/04/2018 11:13

Glitter looked up the feet on Amazon. I will await your feedback in 1-2 weeks time. If your feet have not contributed at least another pound to your weight loss, I will not invest!

RubySlippers77 · 07/04/2018 16:06

All I am doing today is eat Shock it's all 'good' stuff but surely there is a limit to the amount of porridge one person can scoff down?!

I do agree re the snack bars Sticker and I wouldn't usually get them - but one square of Green & Blacks is 3x more points than one bar!! On the bright side, I was given a hot chocolate today and actually couldn't drink it, found it far too sweet. Imagine!

Remembering my MFP frustration now mama. Grrrrr! I even contacted them and they couldn't help. At least my WW app syncs with it...

RubySlippers77 · 07/04/2018 16:11

Really disappointed in DP today too, he's followed a strict low carb diet all week after advice from the diabetes doctor, then last night went to the pub 'for a couple of drinks' and rolled in at 3.30am absolutely hammered. He's now asleep after refusing to help with the DC for hours. I wouldn't mind so much but he really needs to lose weight (currently 22 stone!) and I've worked hard to make all his meals low carb even though it's been a right pain Angry

glitterbiscuits · 08/04/2018 11:43

It’s going to be a gain for me tomorrow. However to use the cliche I may not have won the battle but I will win the war.
My self improvement continues I’ve booked a manicure for next weekend.
I’ve also caught up on some jobs around the house which is helping.
I sort of see light at the end of the tunnel. Just a glimmer but...

Ruby That is truly pants on the G&B front & why I have abandoned SW and all other organised groups. (I think I tried WW about 20 years ago, but have recently been put off by sitting next to someone who was a consultant in her spare time at work. She encouraged everyone to have a weekly weigh in in the office & put their losses & gains up on a whiteboard).

One thing I have learnt over the years is that you can only make changes for yourself when you are ready too and no amount of nagging or disappointment will make someone commit wholeheartedly until they are ready too. Focus on the positive impact of a low carb week for DH rather than assuming he has totally blown it and gone back to old habits. Today is a new day (an so is tomorrow and Tuesday....)

Glitter You are more than welcome to catch up on jobs at my house as well, if it would help maintain your positivity!

glitterbiscuits · 08/04/2018 21:47

I’m having a fresh start tomorrow morning.

Anyone else weighing in with me? Good new welcome. Gainers can be reborn!

OP posts:
glitterbiscuits · 08/04/2018 21:51

I should proof read before I post.

Good news (weight loss) from anyone will be welcome.
Or new people - I need all the support I can get.
Approximately 14 weeks to the UK school summer holidays
37 weeks to Christmas
Plenty of time to achieve something significant

Justabadwife · 08/04/2018 21:54

I think i will have a gain tomorrow. Onwards and upwards though ☺☺😃

glitterbiscuits · 09/04/2018 07:33

16st 7lbs

Oh the shame!
I feel really stiff again this morning which is what prompted my plan.
I am going to be so good this week. I predict a 7lbs loss by this time next week.
And I will exercise. Even if I get up at 5.30am

Body lotion is a revelation! Vitamins and face cream are being kept up. Even DH remarked it was the longest I’d stuck at any skincare.

Feet still the same.

I need to feel better.

OP posts:
Justabadwife · 09/04/2018 07:36

I've weighed myself this morning.
I'm down 1lb so I'm now 15st 1lb. ☺☺

Justabadwife · 09/04/2018 07:38

@glitterbiscuits I feel like I need vitamins what do you take?

mama2005 · 09/04/2018 07:47

Weighing in today at 14st 11 - down 4 lbs (after going up and down for last couple of weeks).

Need to work on the self care now!

Stickerrocks · 09/04/2018 07:59

I am now 16lbs off and, looking at myself in work clothes on a rare glimpse in the mirror, I look slightly less like an egg on legs.

glitterbiscuits · 09/04/2018 08:38

I’m taking ferrous sulphate for iron - hoping my hair improves.
Calcium and vitamin D - aching bones
Vitamin B12 - have no idea why I decided on this.
I’m a vegetarian and my diet is quite good. Lots of vegetables, pulses but not much fruit. But I eat junk on top and have a toast habit! I also seem to eat standing up and walking about trying to work ( work from home) or do housework.

I’m probably just making expensive wee.

glitterbiscuits · 09/04/2018 08:40

@cheesemumma - come out of hiding!

OP posts:
glitterbiscuits · 09/04/2018 08:46

Sticker, Justabad and Mama - really well done. It will be worth it in the end.

When I get a 14 stones something on the scale I’m going to treat myself to one of those Babybliss hair curler things I’ve read about on MN.

I can’t think much further ahead than that.

GreyandGrumpy48 · 09/04/2018 08:52

2lb on for me this week 😞 but determined to start again today. Think i’m going to double my iron supplements as I have no energy and I know i’m Anaemic but it just means I snack on rubbish to get me through the day
