Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

Ugh. Not my best day. I have been snacking! Not much in the way of junk food by my usual standards but a slice of cake, some chocolate, a thick and creamy yoghurt. And lots of potato salad, humus. Apple and peanut butter.
I’m gong swimming tonight. First time since Xmas. I am not much of a swimmer. It’s the steam room that I love! I will try to make a bit more effort tonight

@glitterbiscuits - everyone has bad days. the important thing is for the trend to be overall towards weightloss. You could always work out how many lengths it would take to burn off the slice of cake. (It's loads! That in itself puts me off cake. Cake never tastes as nice as the effort to burn it off deserves, iyswim.) Keep swimming until you've swum the cake off - you'll feel virtuous afterwards.
I've walked 6k steps today (not great) but also done a very active 1 hr yoga class that had me really melting.
Food:
Special K for breakfast
Ryvita with reduced fat pate (surprisingly few calories) carrot sticks, a gherkin and a pear
Snack - hula hoops
Dinner - home made turkey burger with salad and a glass of white wine.

Skinny people probably think that's loads. Blush

Stickerrocks · 17/03/2018 08:30

Peanut butter has become one of my obsessions over the last few weeks. I stare at the jars in supermarkets comparing calorie counts so I can get as big a scrapping as possible on my breakfast crumpets. How sad.

The new WW scales are 1.25lbs heavier than the old ones, but at least they are consistent. Thanks for the recommendation.

Stickerrocks · 17/03/2018 08:33

Bow the trick is to portion up your chocs into the size portion that a reasonable slim person would eat and have one portion per day, rather than climbing into the box to eat every crumb in a choc frenzy like us larger people tend to do. Keep the unbeaten portions out of sight, but still accessible and don't beat yourself up if you give in and 3at another portion.

Haven’t been posting as i’ve been really struggling and i’m so cross with myself about my lack of willpower. I really want to lose the weight, I know how to do it so why can’t I put it into practice?

Murinae · 17/03/2018 12:46

I‘m still here and am proud that i have managed 12 days in a row to log on mfp and put my calories in. My weight isn’t going down fast but it is slowly creeping downwards. I’m still snacking but less than before and writing everything down is helping to keep on track. Hopefully I’ll keep it up and at least stop the endless upwards trend.

Bowednotbroken · 17/03/2018 22:11

Good plan Stick - thanks. I just gave half a bag away - that will work too!

cheesemumma · 18/03/2018 05:45

We'll Everyone for sticking to it. You're all doing amazingly. I've had a shit week to put it bluntly. My period finally arrived today. I now have a cold after my d and v last week. I have a crazy busy week this week so hoping that will keep me too busy to snack rather than snacking alot!!

I'm still going to weigh in tomorrow, it will keep me accountable! Can't wait to hear all your great weight loss's.

billybagpuss · 18/03/2018 06:53

Morning all, I've been avoiding this thread up until now with complete denial 'this can't possibly be me' but it is.

I am 15 stone 2lbs, I've lost 12 lbs this year, but that 12 lbs snuck on when I wasn't looking last year, no idea where it came from so I'm back to where I was just before Christmas 2016. I don't think menopause helped.

Anyhoo I thought I'd pull my head out of the sand and ask to join you, I need to loose probably exactly 5 stone from here.

I'd also like to share whats been going on here for the last couple of weeks. DD2 (19) has been suffering from debilitating stomach pains for the last 6 months but other symptoms have been going on for a lot longer. She's had scans and blood tests galore but last week we paid and went to a dietician (recommended by GP there are a lot of flaky ones out there) she has put her on a ridiculously low fat diet and being supportive I've joined her although not quite as strict. She is on 5g of fat per meal which is bloody hard. We also have to try and get 8g of fibre per meal, much less hard and good fun. The good thing with the fibre is it curbs the appetite. Also DD has been feeling better although it is early days.

glitterbiscuits · 18/03/2018 07:36

I can’t lose weight quickly enough! I want to be thinner now!
However I still want to eat. Last night I had some Sainsbury’s low fat custard with a banana. It was lovely. Everyone else had sponge pudding.

I’m making a big pot of lentil and veg soup today. Loved it earlier in the week. I haven’t worked out the calories. I may see if I can calculate a bit later.

Very proud of you bowed!

Stickerrocks · 18/03/2018 07:55

Tricky Billy when every book these days seems to be low card. You need to go back to the classic F Plan with DD!

I am trying to think like a thin person, but all the thin people I know seem to eat crap in vast quantities, smoke and neck oodles of booze. I think I've cracked the portion size thing by moving to smaller plates & bowls with big lips around the edges. My meals will explode if they touch the edge!

billybagpuss · 18/03/2018 08:17

Its been strange, one thing that has shown up the last week preparing food for us all, I've always been of the opinion that our core diet was healthy and if it wasn't for the crap I ate on top of it I'd be fine. We always have plenty of home cooked meals, fruit and veg, from the garden in the summer. I have actually been quite shocked at how much the fat content has increased in my diet since I last did this sort of thing however many years/decades ago.

I am feeling a little bit smug though I've been chocolate free for a week now and alcohol content much reduced Smile

Stickerrocks · 18/03/2018 08:33

My DH discover Nanny State by Brew dog which has helped him lose over 3 stone this year. I'm treating myself to a large rhubarb & ginger G&T once a week alongside a bag of French Fries. It was the endless nuts & snacks I was ramming down my throat which were killing me.

Bowednotbroken · 18/03/2018 09:02

Thank you Stickerrock!

glitterbiscuits · 18/03/2018 20:08

Weigh in tomorrow!

All welcome. Please keep me company.

I‘m on a flight home and have been upgraded to business class on row 1 which I hate as i am too fat to get the table out of the arm and bring it across my stomach! Will be good for the diet though as I will refuse the food! It’s only an hours flight and I ate in the lounge beforehand so I won’t starve to death.

Murinae · 18/03/2018 20:14

I will make it one of my goals to get thin enough to sit in this seat and get the table out! I fly every other week and get upgraded a lot to row 1.

MrsSlocombesPussy · 18/03/2018 20:31

I'd like to join too please? I'm 50 yrs old. 5 ft 4 and weigh 15st. I need to lose about 5 st.
I'm doing the 5:2 diet, and have just started going to the gym after several years of no exercise .

JanesTeddy · 18/03/2018 21:05

Hi everyone, well my week has been okay I think I did have two meals out but I already had them partially planned so not too bad. Will see what the scales say tomorrow.

whatifI · 18/03/2018 21:10

Can I join too please? I'm late 40's and 5 ft 3in and weigh 15 st 4lb. I need to lose weight for health reasons. Ideally I would love to be 8st 2lb which was my weight over 20 years ago which is wishful thinking but will accept 11 st as anything is better than the weight I am now. For me I need to control my portion sizes and to also stop sabotaging my healthy eating by snacking non stop when it comes to evening time.
I weigh myself at weekends so weigh in for me will be Saturdays.
I want to be able to walk uphill without feeling I'm about to collapse. I feel embarrassed for all my friends and family who are so kind and understanding and put up with my asking to go the long way around everywhere as it a flat route or to take the lift or the escalator with me rather than the stairs. I've tried slimming world but hated the group after weigh in and put the 1.5st I lost back on once I stopped going. I'm using mfp (again) to try and track what I eat.

EmmaHackettsjamtart · 18/03/2018 22:23

Sorry I’ve been AWOL. I’ve had a rubbish 2 weeks with both children taking it in turns to be ill (leading to me feeling tired, stressed and comfort eating) but I’m ready to start again tomorrow.

Stickerrocks · 18/03/2018 22:29

WhatifI & MrsS It's sort of comforting to know there are others out there of similar height & build to me. I sit next to a former WW consultant at work, which tends to make you feel hopelessly inadequate, even when I am losing weight.

*Murinae" Your plane seat table will be the equivalent of the dress I can't currently zip up which I want to fit into again by July. Who would have thought that wanting to fit into a size 20 could be a goal!

Murinae · 18/03/2018 23:00

Well I’m home and the thin woman next to me had no trouble with the table and didn’t even eat the chocolate pudding which is the best bit of the business class meal!! I just had a cup of tea. Honestly the person who designs these planes should think a bit more about larger people. I can just about get the table down but it rests on my thighs and I can hardly breath. There is much more room in the normal seats where the table comes down from the seat in front rather than out of the arm rest.

stickerrocks good luck with the dress. We can do it! I have a wedding in April and got a dress in a size 22 Blush in jersey with no zips! I got fed up of trying to find a dress that fitted in the shops and ordered 7 online from Debenhams and Dorethy Perkins and this was the only one I liked from them.
