Thin by Christmas! At least 5 stones to get rid of.

I have to lose 5 stones. 6 would be better. My excess weight is not helping my health. It’s one thing to worry about how I look but it’s really holding me back now. I’m tired and achey.

I’m pushing 50 so I really ought to get a grip!

My plan is to generally be healthier and eat better, eat less and squeeze in some exercise. Which is tricky because I work really long hours.

I’m starting now. I ate a huge Belgian bun earlier while standing up putting shopping away. Things like that need to stop.

If anyone wants to join please feel free but I intend to post even if I just talk to myself.

If I’m successful I’m going to treat myself to new clothes for Christmas. I’m in elasticated waisted jersey trousers now, ugh!

I'm forcing myself to write absolutely everything down & calorie count it before I actually eat it, except I've given myself a coffee exemption. I was slightly embarrassed in Costa last week to find myself asking for a small, skinny decaf cappuccino with a shot of sugar free caramel syrup in a reusable cup!

I've found today difficult because I'm working from home and it has seemed a very long time between meals. I have a big tin containing an emergency supply of Green & Black micro chocolate bars (90 cals each) and Walkers French Fries (79 cals each). It seems to make it slightly easier knowing that there is something available if I really can't resist any longer. I don't think I could use the same technique if I binge ate though.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 13/03/2018 17:10

I'm having to go hardcore total meal replacement, as otherwise I'd eat everything in sight, then go down to the shop and buy more Blush. When it got to the point that I was rotating shops so that none of the assistants knew how much I was eating, I realised I had to actually do something, and not just pretend to myself I was doing something.

I know this works for me for weight loss, what I need to focus on this time round is addressing the eating (last time I lost three stone, but shitty life stuff got in the way of food reintroduction, so obviously everything went to pot Sad). I need some non-food treats which make me feel as good as the first mouthful of chocolate tastes, and nothing I can think of hits the spot. Maybe I just need to wait out the sweet tooth, and actively never let it develop again.

antwaki · 13/03/2018 20:27

MyVisions That's exactly my problem! And why I went to a bloody expensive terrific consultation with a total food replacement place a few years ago. To be fair the Dr wasn't much of a sales person and told me to just do low blood sugar diet (John Briffa) which did work (5st off) Until it didn't and it's all back on again Grrrr. But it's not like I don't know why - too much sofa + pork pies. I think if I wasn't cooking for others in the house that's what I'd do. Good luck with it. Think I'm gonna have to seriously consider it later this year once I have house to self - before I incapacitate myself. Sad Thanks Glitter for starting the thread, feels good to send out thoughts and chat to myself 'out loud' IYKWIM.

Walked 8,000 steps with the pram yesterday and again today. Most exercise I've done in a row, 3 months post partum.

I ache!!! I can't believe I ache from walking Blush

glitterbiscuits · 14/03/2018 07:55

Morning everyone.
I’ve e woken up with a sore throat and a tickle cough

glitterbiscuits · 14/03/2018 08:00

And a helpful cat who jumped up before I was ready!

I have no desire to snack. But I did make a vat of lentil and veg soup yesterday. It’s just keeping off the bread and butter.

OP posts:
Stickerrocks · 14/03/2018 10:40

You don't need bread & butter to enjoy soup, you just need to re-programme your expectations. Can you add a few croutons or crispy onions or bacon bits to add a bit more texture instead?

Flipping new WW scales show I'm actually 1 1/2lbs heavier than the fluctuating ones. I shall have to start taking extreme measures, like removing layers of clothing before I weigh myself, so it isn't really a gain!

glitterbiscuits · 14/03/2018 11:39

I had garlic butter croutons and a crusty roll and butter. This is why I got fat! But before I would have had 2 rolls.

Mid week weigh in tomorrow?

I had vegi chilli tonight and some raspberry yoghurt. My self control is amazing!

BackAwayFatty · 14/03/2018 22:50

Wee bit late this week!

Starting weight 15st 2lb

Weight in Tues morning 14st 7lb

9lb loss

One blip this week where I ate dairy (damn those milky bar buttons! Ha) but otherwise tracking calories and doing well.

Always get to 14st & then eat lots but determined to stick this time.

Goal weight 10st 4

cheesemumma · 15/03/2018 06:53

AHH I'm off the grid. Not done well at all this week. I'm still going to log on here though in hopes I'll get a grip asap

Gingersstuff · 15/03/2018 09:49

Backaway that's brilliant!! Well done! Mid week weigh in and I've lost 4 lbs. Delighted with that. I already feel better, less sluggish, far less bloated. Still getting to grips with the whole Syns thing on SW but I'm filling up on far more fruit and veg than I was eating before and not going hungry, so all good.

buzzybuzzybeeshoes · 15/03/2018 11:51

Well done all losers!

Myvisions I hear you. I often think it would be much easier if I didn't have to constantly sort food for everyone else.

Sticker I keep trying the stock of lowish calorie snacks approach. I'll leave them for about a week then get The Hunger and, if I really can't resist, I'll have 8 rather than 1 Blush For me it's much easier to leave them in the shop and get something that may be bigger but end up eating less, IYSWIM? I wish I could do what you do!

15.8 for me (same as midweek last time), 3lb off overall. Happy with that as DD1 baked the house down for Mother's Day and I was brought a breakfast in bed of such magnificence it was not actually possible to eat it in bed! Also had a minor op last week and have done no exercise and barely moved. So taking that as a win!

JanesTeddy so sorry about your dog x

glitterbiscuits · 15/03/2018 12:54

My mid week score is 16-5. Really pleased with that. 3lbs needed to make my first stone off.

Then 6lbs to see a 15!

OP posts:
Murinae · 15/03/2018 13:49

My midweek score was 16-6 exactly the same as Monday even though I’ve been fairly good. Hopefully more will come off by Monday.

Mooey89 · 15/03/2018 21:03

Another 3lb off again on Monday, sorry forgot to update! It was my birthday on Tuesday so ate shit all day and going out for dinner tomorrow night so not sure how this mo day will be but I’ve been doing a couple of SP slimming world days to try to balance the week out, and been to the gym 3 x so far this week so hopefully won’t be too bad at weigh in

RubySlippers77 · 15/03/2018 22:41

1lb off for me (1.5lb at the WW scales, which was great!!) - 4.5lb gone, 35.5lb to go.....

Which John Briffa book did you find helpful antwaki? My DP has just been diagnosed as pre-diabetic and I'm reading up on that, no idea what diabetics are supposed to eat/ avoid, except presumably cooking good food from scratch is always a good idea. Trouble is he loves a takeaway Hmm

Glitter I would love to think that I'll emerge as a butterfly in the sunny weather! Unfortunately I think I will still be a Very Hungry Caterpillar!!

glitterbiscuits · 16/03/2018 08:12

When do think weight loss is noticeable if you have a fair bit to lose?

I think what I have lost so far is bloated water weight as my clothes aren’t any looser.

Still haven’t done any extra exercise, so I need to work on that.

OP posts:
MinaPaws · 16/03/2018 08:20

Please can I join you? I have 2 stone to lose - well 3 if you go by BMIs ideal weight for my age and height, but I'd be very happy with 2.
But I'm the world's worst dieter. Never stuck to a diet for more than 3 days and as soon as anyone tells me I must avoid a certain food I binge on it. Also living in elasticated waist wide leg trousers as wide legs are the only ones that fit my thighs.

Also need more exercise. I'm early 50s. The weight is piling on, and I'm perpetually exhausted. I desperately need some motivation to exercise.

@glitterbiscuits - it's good to lose that water bloat though. Makes you look and feel so much less unhealthy, even if clothes are still tight. I heard somewhere that the first fat you los eis the invisible stuff around the organs, so although you don't look smaller, you are massively healthier. Not sure if that's true but it's nice to believe.

glitterbiscuits · 16/03/2018 08:24

Hi @MinaPaws

You are welcome to join, even if you are a bit skinny by my standards.
I’m nearly 3 weeks in and not sure if it’s the fact I’m posting here regularly but it’s the longest I’ve stuck to a diet in years.

OP posts:
MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 16/03/2018 09:36

I've managed 5.5 days so far, with one meal out planned in to the programme, and 4 lbs down. This is my longest streak for about 10 years Shock

JustBeingJobless · 16/03/2018 11:37

Just got back from weight watchers and I’m another 4lb down which really surprised me! 16lb gone forever :)

MinaPaws · 16/03/2018 11:54

skinny by my standards - that's the first time I've been called skinny in twenty years. I don't care that it's by someone who's never met me. I'll take it. Grin
Thanks for letting me join in.

MinaPaws · 16/03/2018 11:55

Congratulations Visions and Jobless. That's really impressive.

Bowednotbroken · 16/03/2018 13:15

Thank you for your thoughts about portion sizes Hidingtonothing several days ago. Apologies for the lack of response but I've been in hospital. The combination of a bit of determination from talking on here, hospital food and the wake-up call from needing to be in hospital has been quite useful so my weigh-in this morning showed a loss of 7lbs - down to 16-1! I'm quite excited at the prospect of being 15 something for the first time in many years. But I am quite immobile now and still have a store of Mothers' day chocolates- so who knows whether I'll make it or not?
