Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Everyone welcome, new and old

I bet it was just the way you were standing - I've often thought that my sticky outy belly is at least in part a product of poor posture, and when I'm standing on the tube I do tend to slouch pretty badly, especially if clinging to a pole with one hand and reading with the other.

HairsprayBabe · 06/02/2018 12:47

I often think about frame and body shape, I quite like mine, as even when "fat" people used to say, if I ever told them my weight [shocked] "noooo you don't weigh that much surely!" I didn't carry it too badly I suppose.

Even at my biggest I could still fit into size 12 jersey dresses as have always had a reasonably small waist. So it was easy to kid myself that I was "fine" and not 4st over weight!

I am all arse and hips and hideous thighs, never really had a "belly" but I wish I had nicer legs and could wear shorts....

HairsprayBabe · 06/02/2018 12:50

Or maybe they were just being polite....

TheCatOfAthenry · 06/02/2018 12:54

Hello all, another 2.5 pounds down this week. Taking a belated birthday treat tonight and having a little bit of pizza and a bit more prosecco.

Please recommend treats!

(Have attached the MFP graph. I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but could genuinely not have got this far without you lovely people.)

TheCat

It is very important you tell me exactly what you are doing so I can copy you and also lose lots of weight!

TheCatOfAthenry · 06/02/2018 14:39

@HairsprayBabe I've bastardised a VLCD to make it less restrictive and I've hit the gym. I'm on about 1000-1200 calories a day and keeping my carbs low-ish (but making it sustainable rather than a long term crash diet).

QuimReaper · 06/02/2018 14:39

That is a serious downward trend, with what must've been some very gratifying "whooshes" in there!

When you say "recommend treats" do you mean virtuous ones, or do you just want us to tell you all the delicious things you should eat in the world? Because the latter would be easy peasy for me Grin

Feezles · 06/02/2018 14:49

Hairspray Same. I wouldn't go so far as to claim I don't look like I could do with shedding a few pounds, but I definitely don't look as big as I am. I'm tall, and I'm still a 14 most places.

TheCat Well done! That is excellent progress! Enjoy your P&P!

If you're looking for virtuous treats, may I recommend M&A lime and chilli lentil curls? 88 cals for a decent sized bag, and they are properly tasty - so nice, I would actually pick them over non-diet snacks, even if I wasn't dieting.

TheCatOfAthenry · 06/02/2018 14:51

Treats do not need to be virtuous today!

PipGirl404 · 06/02/2018 14:55

TheCat that is awesome progress. It's taken me 3 years to go from just over 200lbs to 164lbs so christ on a stick, WELL DONE. I need your motivation... I need to get down to 145, maybe 140lbs but it feels like an impossible feat.

TheCatOfAthenry · 06/02/2018 14:59

Pip, I lose motivation quickly so needed to do it a tad extremely! I was always about 133 pounds, so will be back there in the next few months all going well. (I'm 5'6" btw.)

In many ways, sustained loss over a longer period is WAY more impressive.

Not2bObvious · 06/02/2018 15:28

Wowsers TheCat, what an incredible loss over 3 months, I do not know how you stuck to 1000-1200 for that amount of time, your willpower is unreal! We’re weight twins at the minute😉 My favourite treat at the moment of half an m&s hot cross bun toasted with a scrap of butter - around 120 cals, or a 2 finger kitkat or a tunnocks tea cake. So thing around 110-120 cals. To stick to 1 not have all 3 is the challenge!
Quim could it be you’ve lost a goodamou t of body fat? You do hear people feeling the cold more when they lose weight.

Naughtysausage · 06/02/2018 18:45

Cat really bloody impressive!

I've had a lovely weekend and haven't ventured on the scales yet. Not too worried as it's one of the last weekends before DH goes away for 6 months so not going to say no to a nice lunch or two.
(I eat less when he's not here generally, so sure it'll fall off soon. Or something. Blush)

Also appreciating the Garmin recommendations pip and rylan.

poorpaws · 06/02/2018 21:46

I’m ill again, I’ve got a sickness bug again. I haven’t eaten for two days, it’s not fair!

Still following all of you from my sick bed 😷

Not2bObvious · 07/02/2018 05:37

That’s awful poorpaws, it’s one thing to restrict food to lose weight, entirely different to being unable to stomach food. I’ve found it truly scary when I’ve had that kind of illness, it feels horrible. Scales need dying down but holding out for the weekly average on Sunday. Speaking of cold, it’s bitter here and I’m off to bootcamp despite thinking I wouldn’t be able for it after pulling a muscle on Monday. Honestly assessing how I feel made me accept it wasn’t that bad and I’d only be making excuses. That being said I’m not overjoyed at the thought of vigorous and tough exercise for an hour. It’ll be worth it (grits teeth and pulls hat/gloves/parka on)

Not2bObvious · 07/02/2018 05:39

No idea what scales needs dying down means, it should have read scales is going down slowlyHmm

lastqueenofscotland · 07/02/2018 06:50

Not a clue how but I've lost 3lbs this week. Which considering it's included a pizza, a takeaway, burger and chips in a pub and a macdonalds breakfast Blush
Thank god for distance running

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2018 07:13

10.2 so back at my start of Feb weight, egg diet seems to be working well.

Having an Italian egg and courgette bake tonight, grate 1 courgette per person chop up a spring onion very finely and mince a good handful of basil, season the lot with black pepper and put in a casserole dish with 2 whisked eggs per person and 15g cheese per person. Bake at 180c for 45 mins to an hour. I made it last night so all I have to do is chuck it in the oven.

Not sure if we will have this on its own or with a bit of salad or kale/cabbage.

ChasedByBees · 07/02/2018 07:43

I’m in and aiming to lose another 7lbs in Feb. We can do this. 🤜

Last queen - wow you are on it! I weighed in at 11st9 this morning which is theoretically no loss at all but I know I'm actually down a couple or lbs. good walk in the frosty air this morning and then a Body Blitz class which I often follow with a session in the treadmill - usually just a brisk walk on an incline to try and soothe my traumatised muscles!

Food will be Greek yoghurt now, omelette and salad for lunch and chicken, few new pots and more salad for dinner. Hopefully no snacking....

Have a good day all.

BeyondWitchbitchterf · 07/02/2018 08:30

Morning all. Checking in but I haven't weighed for a couple of mornings as I've been ill. Still been relatively good though, so weight should be okay when I do weigh... 😬

Feezles · 07/02/2018 08:53

Lastqueen - I'm jealous, I miss running so much. Stupid Achilles Still says no! It might need surgery to fix, which is a scary prospect for a variety of reasons. And I'm grumpy because I know how helpful running was last time I lost a substantial amount of weight. Doing it my diet alone is HARD!

Feel better soon, Paws!

PipGirl404 · 07/02/2018 09:09

Morning all! Sorry to hear you're Ill poorpaws! Hopefully it shifts soon.

I'm still 2lbs up from the weekend, I didn't go over maintenance either Saturday or Sunday so not really sure what is going on here?!

NewYearNiki · 07/02/2018 09:17

I discovered something annoying. I thought my exercise calories looked a bit light. With all the exercise I do I used to burn more than this I thought.

Checked MFP. Comparing the start of my journey I was 10kg / 22lbs heavier the same exercise burns me 50 calories less than it used to.

So being lighter means less calorie burn.
