Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Everyone welcome, new and old

Niki Try adding ankle/wrist weights or weighted leggings to increase your calorie burn?

Says the exercise dodger Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 07/02/2018 10:03

Niki running 5 miles very quickly burns less than very slowly in most cases as you generally have a longer stride and are more efficient. Damn.

QuimReaper · 07/02/2018 11:28

Hair and Feezles I am so envious of your body shapes! (Assuming you're both hourglasses.) I'm sure I've said this a million times, but being a small-framed apple is the absolute pits. People think it'd be great to be "dainty" but it's next to impossible to maintain, there's simply nowhere to hide - my boobs go first when I lose weight and there's not much of them to begin with! I also have a weird runty physique where I'm all legs and no torso, so there's a really short space between my ribs and hips, meaning I never have a nice curve to my waist (when unclothed at least), and when I was at my heaviest I swear I actually went out between rib and hip.

Woe is me Grin

The upshot of all that is I have fab legs though, if I says so meself

Not2b I think you're right in general about losing body fat, I definitely get cold as well as drunk more quickly, but I've been more or less maintaining my weight within a couple of kilos for a while now so you'd think I'd have adjusted! I think the kicker was that I was trying to have a mega-fast day due to only being able to have 3 Golden Days this week, so I'd eaten hardly anything before I went out, and then it was sub zero out there, so I had hardly any reserves to cope. That was a self-defeating strategy, as I ended up eschewing my planned broth for scrambled eggs and smoked salmon...!

On another note, I misread your snack recommendation to TheCat as "M&Ms hot cross buns" and now I'm absolutely dying to try one of those.

ChasedByBees welcome welcome! You weren't on the Jan thread, were you?

TheCatOfAthenry · 07/02/2018 11:30

Quim do we need to invent those buns?

I had a delicious evening and am back on plan today.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/02/2018 12:04

Hello! I am back from a lovely sunny break, slightly redder, full of cold, and much much heavier. OMG it was great though!

Welcome home BOOP!

Can all of you lovely ladies give me some menu recommendations for a low carb week? I eat everything but my downfall is crisps. Trying to eat lots of protein as I'm consistently running 5k 5 times a week plus weights and a few classes. My problem is I need food inspiration. Really want to do a very low carb 7 days...

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2018 13:38

@Therealjudgejudy

Keep it simple, have the same breakfast one or two lunch "options" and then something different at dinner.

Breakfast - scrambled eggs and either bacon or mushrooms, if you need something faster greek yogurt and a sprinkle of flaked almonds

Lunch - green salad, cooked chicken, sprinkle of cheese, olive oil and red wine vinegar dressing

Dinner -
M Salmon fillet, huge heap of green veg (broccoli/kale/cabbage) if you want a bit of sauce melt a bit of cream cheese with some dill or other herbs
T Chicken Stirfry, - use a base of fresh ginger, chilli and lemongrass rather than a packet sauce
W Spanish omelette - use whatever low carb veg you like
T Heck brand sausages, mashed swede or celeriac and green veg
F Chilli with cauliflower rice
S Moroccan aubergine and halloumi tray bake realfood.tesco.com/recipes/moroccan-vegetables-with-halloumi.html
S Roast dinner, no spuds or yorkshires!

Therealjudgejudy · 07/02/2018 13:52

@HairsprayBabe thanks a mill. That all sounds fab.

Girl you should write a healthy eating cookbook! Smile

Hoolahoophop · 07/02/2018 14:03

Roast with no Yorkshire's?!Shock I couldn't do it......but then my diet dinner tonight is toad in the hole, I'm skipping potatoes to keep it healthy. Grin

Some awsome achievements on here.

PipGirl404 · 07/02/2018 14:53

Welcome back BOOP! How was it?

I've not had a yorkie in years, I'm getting some on Sunday!

KeiraTwiceKnightley · 07/02/2018 14:58

Argh. Have done so much exercise today - and then ruined it with a whole bag of Liquorice allsorts...

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2018 15:11

I had 350g of celery for lunch with 32 boiled eggs and a mug of broth
oh the exciting life I lead!

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2018 15:12

2 eggs NOT 32....

that would be madness!

fishonabicycle · 07/02/2018 15:40

32 eggs! So funny- made me think of an old film - 'Cool hand Luke'.

My back's out (again). Have spent the day plugged into a tens machine and comfort eating. Damnit.

Kikisdeliveries · 07/02/2018 16:56

Have been craving courgette, eggs Parmesan and spinach thanks to hairspray's egg fast. But eating crackers, cheese, hot cross bun & fancy calorific yogurt.

I will roast some courgette later.

twinkledag · 07/02/2018 16:58

A good day yesterday, aiming for another today!

I eat mainly low carb. I eat eggs every day for breakfast, throwing in a sausage or bacon or avocado on my days off work.

Lunch is always salad with something, usually chicken or turkey.

Dinner is usually halloumi with salad, or chilli con carne/meatballs/bolognese with cauli rice or veg or pan fried chicken with veg. Tonight I'm having Thai green curry made with turkey and I'll have it with veg on the side.

twinkledag · 07/02/2018 17:00

The low carb options are for @Therealjudgejudy!

TheCatOfAthenry · 07/02/2018 17:59

@keeponkeepinon bit of that and lower carb than usual. I used some VLCD products, but mainly because of high vitamin content.

That graph isn't even the whole picture - started at 209 on the 2/11/17!

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2018 18:21

I am not doing a "real" egg fast, the tbsp of fat per egg is a lot, makes me feel sicky, so I go for upto a tbsp of fat per meal.

But yeah good quality ff mayo would count as fat as it is really just eggs and olive oil!

I feel fine on it the green veg is makinging it much easier than the "pure" egg fast that I did last summer, dosn't feel like I am just eating the same things over and over!

QuimReaper · 07/02/2018 23:40

32 boiled eggs and a mug of broth

Grin

judy avocados are your friend on low carb! They're delicious with prosciutto if you're not a vegetarian. I also swear by a smoked haddock fillet, spinach and a poached egg - quite rich so surprisingly satisfying for a minuscule amount of calories.

Feezles · 08/02/2018 06:57

Morning all! Checking in, still at 1.5lb down for the month - but I've had three very good days and still feeling motivated so in a good place.

My work stress is heading down, but DH's is ramping right up and really affects me too, so have some challenges to avoid my stress eating triggers this weekend!

Mmmm, avocado - almost makes me want to go low carb. Almost....

HairsprayBabe · 08/02/2018 07:13

10 dead
Lowest weight this year even though I had 4 tomatos and a slice of cheese before dinner.

Egg diet lite seems to be doing its magic.
I may push it into the weekend, as currently I have no plans, and strict rules will prevent me from mindless nibbling on Saturday.

Lunch today is a cup measure of egg and spinach salad, a mug of broth and more celery. Dinner will be the egg curry.
