Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Everyone welcome, new and old

lasty I can't believe you're trying to lose weight when you're so active, I'd have thought you'd be disappearing with that kind of step count!

Hairspray so sorry to hear about your poor grandad, but wonderful that he's on the mend. And welcome back to the 9s, that's a lovely birthday treat Flowers

DH's birthday tomorrow so we're out for dinner and the cinema. I seem to be just about managing to even things out with fast days, but If on my Friday weigh-in I'm only a Linda or so up for the month it'll be a bloody miracle! I'm feeling really podgy, and so ready for a golden March. Might even dust my running shoes off when the weather finally improves. I'm between 3 and 5 Lindas over my goal weight and I think it shows - I was at a wedding on Saturday and really regretted my dress choice, I kept catching sight of myself in mirrors, my tummy and arms looked dreadful Sad

Ofthread · 19/02/2018 16:05

Hi all, thanks. I don't think I'm really 3 lindas down to be honest. I feel to have lost something but not enough difference in clothes for 3 pounds. Probably 1.5 or something. I do the visualising a pound of butter thing! Weirdly, my legs look thinner in my leggings all over, not just thighs. Can the dieting gods please start on my belly?

lastqueenofscotland · 19/02/2018 20:59

Super golden day today Star
Need to be good tomorrow as having a very decadent dinner on Wednesday

Feezles · 19/02/2018 22:08

Last minute fail tonight when DH waved to weekend's leftover chocolate cake under my nose after dinner on an otherwise well behaved day. But still ended with about a 250 calorie deficit, so should be okay over all.

Not2bObvious · 20/02/2018 07:06

I think many would crumble at cake waving feezles, I hope it was yummy. On my 6th choc/crisp free, not bothering me much - my food wants during the sickness was purely carb driven, bread, bread, bread with the odd biscuit thrown in. Down another smidge today. My anti-b’s are planning havoc with my stomach so finished dinner and closed the kitchen early. Keeping to around 1500 the last couple of days. I do feel a good bit better today, so we’ll see how it goes. Will do the walk to school, time to get back into the out!

Feezles · 20/02/2018 07:12

The cake was indeed delicious, and I'm down another 0.5lb this morning so perhaps it was magic weight loss cake?Smile

Hope you're feeling a bit better now, Not?

HairsprayBabe · 20/02/2018 07:13

9.12 again, could hardly expect a loss considering I lost over the weekend and we went out for dinner last night, I had a falafel salad, very nice too.

Didnt have pudding and no one made a fuss, I think its because I have linked it to lent people are less likely to pester me about it? Maybe?

DP is working late tonight so it will just be me for dinner, not sure what to have I am very lazy when just cooking for myself so it will probably be scrambled eggs with feta and hot sauce Blush gross food combo that I live for!

Feezles · 20/02/2018 07:25

Scrambled egg is my go-to solo dinner too, Hair - DH is allergic to raw/undercooked egg so can't have them cooked soft how they are meant to be I like them.

I like them best with chopped cherry tomatoes, chilli and coriander.

Softpebbles · 20/02/2018 07:41

Just logging on.

Well done Hair. Back in the 9's. Never doubted you'd get there.

Well done on all the losses.

Wowsers Last on those steps!

2 Up here. Deserved from the weekend. Hope to get rid quickly too. Lost my way a little!

Happy birthday Quim DH 😊

Have a great day Xx

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 07:52

I have managed to start the new week acwhole 0.2lb down from Friday. Woo hoo!
Are we all steely eyed with determination this week? I’ve done my knee in so I’ve not been to the gym since Thursday. Going to give it a go today.

I'm making my favourite soup for lunch today. No idea what to do for dinner. I have chicken to use up. That's as far as my inspiration has got...

Well done on the 9s hairspray. How is your grandad today?

HairsprayBabe · 20/02/2018 08:09

Thanks BOOP and pebbles it felt like I was never going to get back here, how can a 4 lb gain over a week take over 2 months to get rid of!!!

No further news on GD, so I am assuming it is much the same, we are a large family so stuff gets passed along the generations rather than GM calling all of her 15 GCs herself, she will tell my dad, he will tell his brothers, they will tell their wives and then the wives will tell the GCs.

Not sure why the men can't tell their own children but ah well!

Not2bObvious · 20/02/2018 08:22

I’m gimlet and steely eyed determind boop, you doubled my massive average weight loss of .1 of a pound so you’re the one to watch😉
hair I’m 2 months trying to lose the 4-6 pound I gained from mid December to January. Mind you, I was fighting that 4-6 pound pretty much all of 2017 except it went up to 10lb at one point! Too irritating if I dwell on it. I reckon if I get under 11, it’ll be plain sailing. Basically because if I master good behaviour long enough to do that, it might become second nature. Ahh I’m such an optimist

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 20/02/2018 08:31

Morning all! I'm at the same weight as Friday which is pretty impressive after a lovely weekend not paying attention to calories let's call it intuitive eating. I did have a fast day yesterday though. Anyway hopefully that means I will see a loss this week!

ponygirlcurtis · 20/02/2018 08:41

Happy birthday to Quim's DH. Smile

Well done on getting back in the 9s Hairspray, and glad to hear the better news about your grandad.

I have bitten the bullet (and eaten it) - weighed for the first time in ages. There has been some creep, just a few Lindas so nothing too dire but I need to get back on it. I have recorded it in the Fitbit app to see if it will give me the weekly average. Wink

Feezles · 20/02/2018 09:05

Steely eyes all present and correct, Sah!

I have had an excellent start to the week, and I am feeling super-motivated. I've got some really delicious, nutritious and calorie efficient meals planned, and no major plans for the weekend to derail me. Well, apart from going to Ikea on Sunday, which means I need to dodge the ice creams, the hot dogs and (hardest of all) the meatballs. But I will STAY STRONG!

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 09:19

Not2 I like the idea of surging ahead with my massive 0.2lb loss Grin I'm imagining us all running along the beach in slow motion a la Chariots of Fire and I take a temporary lead...

Loving all the steely eyed-ness

Soup is on the go (I HATE chopping veg! If I didn't have to chop veg I'd make soup much more often) and it smells lush

Hi everyone

I have had an up and down week. Was at fancy hotel for a couple of nights and had breakfasts and dinners way out of normal midweek nights.
Must have been heavier when I got home but then contracted some kind of stomach bug which hasnt left me totally yet and has meant I've survived on toast since last Friday Sad

On the plus side i am 12st 4 today and hopefully I can keep there and then start a downward move again once I feel better.

On the very plus side I have had two comments at work that I have lost weight.....love an NSV Smile

Not2bObvious · 20/02/2018 09:40

My very easy veg soup that’s yummy, cheap, quick and low cal. Bag of frozen mixed veg, cauliflower/broccoli/carrot, take 250g - make up veg stock with 1 stock cube & around 300ml water. Boil veg in stock with some dried parsley. When cooked, cool a bit and blend. Really good

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 09:43

I'm making parsnip and red lentil pottage. Not soup. Pottage. Cos I is posh! Wink

I have no idea why it's called pottage or even what pottage is. It has parsnips and bacon in though so what's not to like?

OP posts:
Feezles · 20/02/2018 10:17

Sounds amazing, Boop! What else goes in your soup pottage?

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 10:27

Onion, carrots, red lentils and stock. It is utterly delicious! 82 calories a portion of soup pottage

OP posts:
IheartCaptainHolt · 20/02/2018 11:55

Sounds good BOOP, I love soup. I blend all mine so I don't have to bother chopping the veg too small!

Another 1lb off this week. It's slowing down now but still lost 4.5lb this month.

QuimReaper · 20/02/2018 11:58

Oooh, POTTAGE! My favourite!

I bossed it yesterday - only regrets are a) that I didn't end up hula hooping because I was frantically trying to make birthday surprises for DH behind his back b) I was going to have broth for dinner but I was making quiche for DH's lunch and whipped too much egg, so I scrambled it and had it with a smidge of cheese (but I cannot honestly bring myself to call that a real regret Grin ) (also, funny how many of us have scrambles as our solo dinner choice - mine's with spinach, mushrooms, Parmesan and spring onions, and smoked salmon if we've got any) and c) I didn't drink enough water BUT that's mainly because I was stepping my arse off (literally, I hope) and didn't want to spend the whole afternoon looking for public loos...

TV sorry to hear about the stomach bug but amazing on the new low! Every cloud... Grin

Thanks all for the birthday wishes for DH! I got up before him and put tulips, a homemade card, a pile of present, a smoked salmon & cream cheese bagel, blueberries and a glass of cranberry juice on the table. He came downstairs, his eyes lit up and he made a beeline for the bagel. Didn't even so much as glance at the card until he'd scarfed it. Typical...!
