Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Everyone welcome, new and old

Ooh that sounds rather more sophisticated than my frozen veg mix boop! I missed my mid morning snack due to a bit of lucrative work I had to do putting aside my sick leave. Maybe I should move into Sales, I’d never eat😂 Problem is I’ve now had 2 doses of anti-b’s on an empty stomach. I predict a quesy afternoon🤢

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 12:37

I scoffed my soup pottage before I realised I should've changed out of my gym gear and popped on a tiara to eat it. Standards have slipped. Slipped I tell you!

Happy birthday MrQuim (oh that sounds so so wrong. It's like the lady penis comments on the trans threads. Lady penis and Mr Quim Grin) I like a man who has his priorities right

I'm sooo disheartened. I eat less than I ever have and am fitter and stronger than ever in my life. I'm made it a thing to exercise every day in feb (for eg, since Saturday I've run 5k, hiked 6 miles on Sunday, done an hour of intensive Pilates plus a 3 miles walk yesterday and will run 5k tonight).. and I can't lose a pigging pound. Still, my clothes fit well and I'm getting a flat stomach I suppose. Think it might be my age - in 45. Just think how fat I'd be if I ate what I wanted and did nothing but walk to the fridge!

HairsprayBabe · 20/02/2018 12:59

Egg diet needs to be at least 5 days I reckon to see any meaningful losses KOKO I don't really worry about ketosis, but it keeps you full and dramatically reduces cals it worked for me last time 6lbs in 3 days then I ruined it with a buffet But it resets my mind frame around food, I am back in the zone after what feels like an age.

I love soup so much, spicy butternut squash is my fave!

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 13:08

Keira I'd swap a couple of pounds for a flatter stomach!

Kikisdeliveries · 20/02/2018 14:02

Keira I'm usually like you, and when I'm doing loads of exercise everything becomes more streamlined and clothes fit better, I have loads of energy, feel great etc though I don't really lose pounds.

However, I've had the opposite to you this month and done next to nothing thanks to injuries and illness. I do not really weigh more but I am jiggly and visibly fatter, feel like crap and everything is loads of effort. It really sucks!

Genuine snort at Lady penis and Mr Quim. Grin

That is a great NSV TV, and great low weight. Shame it was achieved through illness but any port in a storm and all that!

According to Wikipedia, "Pottage is an obsolete term for a thick soup or stew made by boiling vegetables, grains, and, if available, meat or fish". Obselete? Obselete? How very dare Wikipedia! It's not obselete, it's posh! Shock

I have to be honest, I thought a pottage was something you put on a boil - you know the weird stuff you find in sporners corner but I am now educated. Ahh, I was thinking of poultice!

BitOutOfPractice · 20/02/2018 17:36

Every day is a school day on this thread eh?

True dat👩🏼‍🎓

Not2bObvious · 20/02/2018 17:43

Yeah poultice, it was one of those moments when you’re looking at a word and it’s ringing bells, clearly a bit off tune! Although I’d say slapping in on a boil couldn’t harm?

Not2bObvious · 20/02/2018 17:45

Sorry I’m spamming now. My scholar emoticon has been deconstructed! That’s mental, it’s taken off the mortar board, the skin tone and stripped my lovely blonde to reddish brown hair! Wow

Not2bObvious · 20/02/2018 17:46

Oh lord, don’t mind me - I think the drugs are sending my eyes wonky, it’s ok now. As you were...

Sorry Koko the programme I watched a couple of weeks ago thought that Fitbit was pretty bad at calorie counting, steps were fairly accurate but the didn't test heart rate for true calorie burn.

It's why it only gets useful once you have lots of data, as you can look at trends and adjust accordingly. I've never managed to keep up the recording long enough to get a true picture.

Not2bObvious · 20/02/2018 21:38

Yep hoola, good point about the calorie burn on the Fitbit. The plan I follow has I think 15,000+ members and we were asked a while ago to send in our Fitbit data if we managed 15,000 steps consistently every day. They came back to us to say if you could do 10-15k steps a day you could follow a particular calorie club. We were told to completely ignore the calorie burn on the Fitbit, just use it as a pedometer basically.
Keep If you stuck to 1400 a day, I reckon you’re getting 2400 burn on 10k+ steps, you’d see losses, if you’d stick to it - you’ll see losses if you maintain a deficit for long enough. It doesn’t have to be horrendously tough though. You’d probably lose much easier & consistently on 1600-1700. But it probably won’t be linear and you’d need to be prepared for that.

lastqueenofscotland · 21/02/2018 07:03

Not a clue how I managed it but I have! 3lb off this week which is 8 for Feb Shock

Not2bObvious · 21/02/2018 07:21

Hmm, not sure how you managed it last, I’d think all the exercise and cutting your cals probably helped😉 Wow, that’s an incredible loss, have you hit your goal weight?
Had a striking realisation as to why I’ve been stuck between 11.4’ish- 11.10’ish for so long. I was 13 stone around 3 years ago, this wasn’t my highest weight but it was the highest I’d let it creep in a few years. Was bursting out of my size 14’s and determined not to buy size 16’s again. I lost the first stone over 2015, and got into the 11’s in 2016 and since then have spent 2 years going to a high of 12 stone to a low of 11.2 (for 5 mins) I am visibly a lot slimmer and fit into vanity size 10. I’ve decided I need to take last Sunday’s average as my new start weight, and set mini goals of 10lb, I want to lose 2 stone. Sorry for the boring blather, I was so miffed for so long as to why I couldn’t progress but my subconscious thought I’d hit my goal! Feels like s lightbulb went off, hoping the mind shift will work. No looking back only forward.

ponygirlcurtis · 21/02/2018 07:24

Wow! Well done lasty!

BitOutOfPractice · 21/02/2018 07:32

Woo hoo Lasty! That's awesome!!

OP posts:
lastqueenofscotland · 21/02/2018 07:36

Alas I'm still about half a stone at least heavier than I was this time last year Hmm but at least it's coming off!
