Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Nailed miserable day 2
1200 cals
20 mins of abs
10k run
About 10000 steps just at work not inc run. Could have been slightly better but I needed a glass of wine

TheDonald · 16/02/2018 22:24

Lasty on the preview on Threads I'm On it looked like you'd had 21200 cals. That sounded awesome! Grin

Hoolahoophop · 17/02/2018 00:44

Hope your Granddad is OK hairspray. Flowers

Far too much nibbling cake and buttercream while baking today. Then pasta and meatballs for tea as its quick and a pint of the beer DH picked up from the micro brewery down the road. This is not good.

Have just finished wrapping dds bike in a ton of paper though, so I'm happy dispite the over eating. Grin

In my dreams Donald Sad

Anyone else up and off parkrunning? It's raining here 😩

Feezles · 17/02/2018 07:59

I did indeed record everything yesterday, and I was about 300 over maintenance, 500 over if you don't count exercise. I'm slightly down today and my average is looking like showing 1lb down for the week - which would be fair based on how the week has gone.

Thanks for the kick up the bum, Not!

Not2bObvious · 17/02/2018 08:41

That’s great feezles, nothing to gain only weight by pretending food/drink didn’t happen.
hair, I hope your grandad is okFlowers
Feeling v unwell today & €€€ poor after doctors visit (in Ireland so no free doc) On huge dose of anti-b’s and completely unable to exercise. All I want to eat is bread. My scales is showing bloat so I’m unsure if I’ll see an overall loss by tomorrow but here’s hoping, at least there’s a genuine reason if I don’t. I wish I was well enough for park run, lovely and sunny here. Haven’t ran in over a week with my sore back and now I’ve this lurgy to contend with, b’ah

TheDonald · 17/02/2018 08:46

Morning all. The scales moved for a Saturday weigh in! First time in five weeks!

I got 10 9.6 on my first go. I actually got 10 8 when I tried again but I'm logging the first one.

Hope you all have a good weekend. Any news Hairspray? Flowers

Rylanmakesmyheartsmile · 17/02/2018 08:54

Weigh in day for me too and I'm down to 127.8lb so a 1.6lb loss on last week. I have somehow managed to be golden this week, even with the visit to my parents, and came in about 200cals under for the week. (Under a 1000cal per day deficit that is) I haven't managed a full wee of exercise, and in fact had a couple of very sedentary days due to travelling and visiting my elderly relatives, but adjusted my cals appropriately even though it meant a couple of very low cal days. I am however close to my goal weight now and am also now at the stage where I know it takes a lot of extra effort. I think I'll plan to eat a little more this week and maybe aim for only a 500cal a day deficit just to up my calories a bit. I suspect it will result in a 0lb loss but I know that continuing as I have been will only result in plateauing anyway so I need to change things up a bit as I get closer to goal weight

Not2bObvious · 17/02/2018 08:55

That’s great TheDonald
I’ve just realised something that’s making me feel marginally better, I’m going to have a 🍷🍫 and crisp free 10 days since I’m off the choc & crisps, and I’m advised not to drink. This could be the kickstart my diet needs

I wouldn’t weigh in until tomorrow now keep, weigh in first thing or not all. If you want to continue tracking the average, just put the same or maybe .5 up to account for last night (which would only be extra food in your system) Very glad you’re feeling more positive and well done on eating so nicely😉

Grandad not great infection all the way up to his liver, going to the hospital now

lastqueenofscotland · 17/02/2018 11:28

Ah shit sorry to hear that hairspray. Flowers

Not2bObvious · 17/02/2018 11:29

Don’t stress keep, you said you were going to focus on nourishment until you felt better - so the tracking of averages is just a side note for the moment.
I’m very sorry to hear your grandad hair, thoughts are with you

When you spend time lo-carbing, eating low cals you deplete the water in your fat cells, so eating normally might show a bit of an artificial gain. And weighing yourself after a night out and a breakfast will also do that. Give it a bit of time, and do your best not to avoid doing things you and the kids might enjoy. I feel guilty of all the pictures I avoided, if anything had happened to me the last couple of years my girls would have no pictures of me. Don’t let a couple of pounds ruin things.

Stick with it for now at least, keepon. You feel better mentally and physically, focus on that for now.

Thinking about you Hairspray. Flowers

You haven't messed up keepon - one misstep does not mean the mission is over, unless you let it. Actually, it's done you a favour by identifying that stress (or the subject of the discussion) triggers something in you. Now you can plan what you will do next time in that situation and practice it so it won't catch you unawares next time. Keep on keeping on. 😊

Not2bObvious · 18/02/2018 06:03

Morning all. Still feeling bleurgh and my official loss for this week is .1 of a pound. Anyway, I’m not well, I haven’t been able to exercise in over a week, I had a few splurges during the week so all told to have even a minuscule loss is positive. No excuses just valid reasons. I need to cut back a bit as well, I’m barely walking so I don’t need as many cals. I won’t go drastic, just try to hit maintenance cals as I’m miserable enough without starving myself so 1500 for the next 3 days is the aim.
keep, I wasnt talking about the entire amount of weight you had to lose just the fact you said your weight was rising. I personally avoid looking at the big picture, i.e. the 30lbs I’ve left to lose (and the fact I barely hang onto the 30 I’ve lost which took far too long and creeps back with alarming regularity) I’m trying to focus on 3lbs at a time, I reckon that’s what I could lose each month if I put every effort into it. Hope you feel a bit better today

I’d never lose weight on 1200-1400 as I’d never stick to that despite me probably trying to fool myself into thinking I was. I’m 5ft4inches, if I do 10,000 steps a day, I burn around 2000. If I eat 1700, I’d lose 1lb every 10-12 days. If I do 15,000 I burn around 2,200-2,500 (depending on exertion) -when I do this I find it hard to eat less than 1800, and I lose 1lb a week.
The plan I follow recommends losing weight on as many calories as possible so as to avoid binging and also to bring you to a point when you do hit goal - you won’t gain it all back. Anyway that’s what I’m working on achieving - might even achieve it someday!

Feezles · 18/02/2018 11:07

My standard calorie burn is about 2150-2200, as best as I can tell. So, my weight loss consumption target is 1680. It felt high when I started, but actually it does seem to be true. If I hit this, I lose weight, around 1lb per week. I still have wobbles - I had one this week as usually when I start to diet I drop the first 7lb very quickly. But that hasn't happened this time. However - I have lost exactly what I should have done based on what I've eaten, and actually I don't mind the slower pace of loss as I can actually maintain the diet better - it isn't too much of a struggle to keep within it so I don't feel like I'm denying myself. Like Not, I would never keep to a more restrictive target for long enough.

It does take planning though, to make sure we have meals planned that are low calorie enough for me but satisfying enough for DH. I quite enjoy the challenge, but I know if I don't put the effort in to it, we'll slip back into takeaways and weight gain very quickly.
