Anyone up for a current thread? I've had a good search and couldn't find anything recent!

I've got the book/cd and am downloading the app too. I'll start tonight.

I've never done this kind of thing before but am very open to it working :)

Well I think that can work Marmalade, buying a size 12 is putting it out there that that's the size you are becoming now.

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2018 08:59

Yes nice to have you with us Marmalade the tapping does work!

ClashCityRocker · 16/03/2018 09:05

On the audio download that comes with the book, how much are you actually listening?

I get about ten minutes in and then the next thing he's saying 'wake up now!'

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2018 09:10

Clash Lucky you! You 'sleep learn" I found I was waking up and 'into' it' without realising Grin I guess the power of hypnosis is stronger than we think!

DottyDotts · 16/03/2018 22:09

Clash it's normal to hear the beginning and then fall into a light sleep during the countdown then coming to when he says "wake up". It makes no difference as it goes in regardless

WhiskyandRed · 17/03/2018 13:26

How’s everyone getting on? I’m sticking with it and now on day 13. After the initial loss I don’t think there’s been a difference on the scales, but my attitude is totally different.

Have you used the app Dotty? I don’t see how it’s much different to the book except that he talks you through the different chapters in short little video clips each day. The app is working well for me and would recommend it to others.

WhiskyandRed · 17/03/2018 13:28

gigi really feel for you. It’s hard managing your own eating when you’re also helping a 9 month old - nearly impossible to eat mindfully and slowly in this situation! Hope
It’s going well for you

DottyDotts · 17/03/2018 14:16

Whisky I've being doing this method since late 90s and Paul McKenna for last 10 years or so. The books offer you all you need to know plus go into depth on helping you understand how you got to this place if needing to relearn how to eat. It's something that you can read and then you have the tools and understanding to do it alone even without the hypnosis. I tried the app but having read his books and done his gastric band and I can make you thin cds I find I don't need to listen much these days. The book gave me the tools for life really Smile

DottyDotts · 17/03/2018 14:17

Whisky are you saying the app has video clips?

DottyDotts · 17/03/2018 15:05

Anyway, whatever works for each of us is brilliant.

gigi556 · 17/03/2018 19:10

I don't feel I'm doing that great with it as I still find I need willpower to stick with it and I haven't listened to the audio in several days. That said even Paul McKenna says you won't do it all the time will "relapse" so to speak.

In any case, I'm trying to be more mindful about food. I think it might just take me a bit of time to get there! I'm really trying to change my must clean my plate attitude and I'm really improving with this. I didn't clear me plate at brunch or dinner tonight. At dinner, I honestly couldn't believe how much I left on my plate. I just couldn't finish it! What I then do is cover it over and put it in the fridge. I can always eat it later if I get hungry again. I'm also trying to start with smaller portions to begin with but even that is difficult sometimes because I think i will want to eat it all.

MaggieMay23 · 17/03/2018 23:38

Hi all can I join in?
I've lost 1 stone doing low carb and came to a grinding halt with it one day as I ate a pub meal with DH consisting of a lovely juicy steak with cold wet salad and garden peas and i realised that apart from the steak I wasn't enjoying garden peas and salad so why the hell was I eating them - to fill myself up? Because they were low carb?
I stopped low carb the next day and have been trying to follow my hunger signals and eat "normally" - ie not abnormally through years of dysfunctional eating and diets.
I've probably got about 7-10 lb to lose and I'd like to get back to some sense of normal eating and a better attitude to foods not thinking of good or bad foods.

I can't work out what Paul McKenna book to get as amazon comes up with lots so can someone tell me what I should go for? Thanks

DottyDotts · 18/03/2018 00:42

Gigi sounds like your doing better than you think. Your leaving food because you realise your satisfied and can always go back to it. Brilliant. It is difficult to get into the habit of always being mindful and checking in with yourself as to whether or not you are hungry and if so how hungry but it gets easier with time and if you feel you have over eaten through not being mindful, then just start again next time your hungry

DottyDotts · 18/03/2018 00:45

Maggie Hi and welcome from all of us doing this Smile. Are you an emotional eater? Do you reach for food to self sooth after having a bad day?

gigi556 · 18/03/2018 08:33

@DottyDotts I hope you're right!

I noticed that stress is a massive chocolate trigger for me which I hadn't realized before.

I still have half my dinner in the fridge this morning. Crazy! I can't believe I only needed half what I'd normally eat. I also managed to listen to the cd last night. I do like the audio. So relaxing!

MaggieMay23 · 18/03/2018 10:04

@DottyDotts hi and thanks for the welcome. I don't think I'm an emotional eater - I'll pick at food if I'm bored or tired. Most of my overeating is to do with big portions and eating out of habit I think

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2018 10:39

Hello and welcome Maggie Grin I used 'I Can Make You Thin' which is an early one. But it's great and there are also the apps, CDs and DVDs to go with it. I don't know the others .

Maybe someone else could enlighten you!

DottyDotts · 18/03/2018 11:35

Maggie I would choose I can make you thin then.

buckeejit · 18/03/2018 11:39

Hi all

I think I need to join here-sadly I think I'm every kind of eater. At my heaviest ever after a bit of a rough year & constant 'bad' eating & drinking-every time I brave the scales I've put on another half stone!

Having done slimming word successfully a few times I just can't face it now as last round was constantly trying to 'cheat' the system!

Also confused about what book to get-has anyone used an audiobook? That/app would be easiest for me I think. Bit scared about starting it but at desperation stage now & really hoping it works for me as it sounds like the ideal long term solution

DottyDotts · 18/03/2018 12:33

Buck Hi, Whisky recommends the app and lives it. Me, I read the book I can make you thin years ago and it helped me understand how dieting and seeing food as good and bad had caused my bad relationship with food. It taught me to treat all food as equal and that as long as I use the four simple rules, I can eat whatever I want when I'm hungry. I did just that and bought all things previously forbidden. After having them around me for awhile and being able to eat them without guilt they list hold over me. Nowadays I tend to eat lots of fruit and veg, chicken and salad etc and the occasional cake or chocolate if I want it. If I even think about dieting I can find myself getting those old good food bad food thoughts coming back. I have done his cds but for me it is the book that taught me all this. So if I don't have a cd to listen to it doesn't matter as all the tools to cope are within me now.

buckeejit · 18/03/2018 13:42

Thanks Dotty-will go have a look at the app now & try to track down a book. The fact that this way doesn't take a lot of prep time is also hugely appealing

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2018 13:49

Welcome buck It is also very cheap! Amazon do the books btw.

DottyDotts · 18/03/2018 14:30

pp I was going to suggest Amazon second hand too. And they come with cds in back of book Buck Smile

buckeejit · 18/03/2018 16:05

£6.99 for the app isn't cheap in my book 😉 it's an investment though!! The book is less than £2 on eBay & the week ahead is fairly clear so fingers crossed for all the willpower that I've been lacking of late! 😃

gigi556 · 18/03/2018 16:17

I bought the book second hand on amazon for about £4 including delivery. Came with the CD and DVD
