Anyone up for a current thread? I've had a good search and couldn't find anything recent!

I've got the book/cd and am downloading the app too. I'll start tonight.

I've never done this kind of thing before but am very open to it working :)

Thanks whisky and dotty, I am feeling less doom laden this morning!
As pp said, I am often not very mindful with my eating, particularly with the evening meal. But I am acting out less and haven’t felt over full for some weeks. Which for me is an achievement.
I’m doing the havening every day, as I realise I spend a lot of time feeling over whelmed and that’s the result of trauma. I was reading that havening is part of a process that is used to treat PTSD, So I’m on a mission to heal that. I can already feel myself more engaged with my life.Smile.
Good luck to everyone with this

DottyDotts · 23/03/2018 12:14

Yearof well done Smile

CuriousMama · 23/03/2018 12:43

Yes it was lovely and great people too. We were in a long set of tables but mingled well.

I've just eaten fruit up to now. Been to gym and done Piyo. Has anyone done it? Really hard I got a sweat on. It's yoga and Pilates based but faster. Needed it after last night Wink

YearOfYouRemember · 23/03/2018 16:35

Thank you DottyDotts.. Just back from a third walk and up to 10741 steps so far but I'm most proud that I've decided to not eat now as tea will be 5:45 and just have a drink instead even though I'm hungry.

Old me would have opened chocolate or had crackers and humous and not savoured it. I need to not be afraid of being hungry. The world won't stop and I won't die. It's a consequence of not being fed as a kid but while I've known that for a while I've not been able to accept I'll be okay even if hungry for a bit. Dinner is going to be a seeded wrap, salad, coleslaw, sweet corn. I'll just have one slice of bacon instead of the three I could easily put away. I know I'll probably have a few crisps later but at least I've not had a huge tea first. I'll shut up now.

CuriousMama · 23/03/2018 19:24

Year dinner sounds lovely.
I had pan fried cod loin dusted with garam massala, flour and all seasoning. With broccoli rice onion and garlic. Pud was yoghurt, summer fruits and linseed with cranberries. Nice sized portions and eaten slowly and savoured.

YearOfYouRemember · 23/03/2018 19:48

It was lovely, Curious except I burnt the bacon a bit but it just meant I ate less. I love fish and we're having it on Sunday.

CuriousMama · 23/03/2018 22:12

I'd rather have crispy bacon.

I love fish. I've frozen some salmon to have next week.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 24/03/2018 17:22

Hi all, can I join? A workmate gave me the Hypnotic Gastric Band book yesterday, and I read it cover to cover today, really hoping this works for me as it struck a lot of chords with me.

The "hyper-vigilance" bit was really interesting to me, and I'm looking forward to trying out the Havening thing. The book comes with a DVD and a CD which I haven't used yet. I'm heartened by all your experiences! Looking forward to getting started!

YearOfYouRemember · 24/03/2018 18:18

@CuriousMama - would you be so kind as to send me a PM? Just saying hello will do. I need to test if I can get them as something has gone awry and it would be useful. Thank you.

YearOfYouRemember · 24/03/2018 18:19

TPAT - welcome! I was wondering about the hypno band a while ago.

YearOfYouRemember · 25/03/2018 14:42

Don't all faint but I've just listened to the cd. I kept losing my place with the counting and I missed most of what he was saying but I'll keep on.

DottyDotts · 26/03/2018 00:15

Year that's the point of the counting. To focus your mind whilst he says different gobbledygook into each ear. I always fall asleep before I've finished counting and then come too when he says "Wake Up" Smile

DottyDotts · 26/03/2018 00:19

Year and Platypus I did the gastric band years ago and it worked for me quite well. When I have eaten enough my body sends me a very strong sensation in the top of my stomach which lets me know I'm done. Still happens even after a couple of years

ppeatfruit · 26/03/2018 10:24

Hello everyone Grin I'm back from dh's surprise journey to Italy for his birthday. Blimey Lake Como is amazing! The local people were fab as was the food. Plenty of exercise up loads of steps to the villa!

I'm pleased the gastric band worked for you Dott It didn't seem to work for some others on our last thread did it?

CuriousMama · 26/03/2018 17:20

Still waiting for the library book.

Am eating ok even though I did night shift last night. Doing it tonight too. Staff bring lots of crap in. I only had a couple of crisps.

Dottydotts · 26/03/2018 22:49

Sounds wonderful pp

ppeatfruit · 27/03/2018 09:26

Thanks Dotty Grin

ppeatfruit · 27/03/2018 09:29

Curious Well done for waiting till you're really hungry before eating a nourishing meal!

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 27/03/2018 23:08

Well, I only listened to the CD last night, but I have eaten well and not actually been tempted to snack!! And have been leaving good (which is unknown for me!)

A big part of it for me is the positive associations rather than the negatives we get from dieting. I feel encouraged to be good to myself (ie.Not stuff myself because I am disgusted with myself) and feel good about myself! Revelation! I think even if I don't lose a pound, the whole program will still have helped ne.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 27/03/2018 23:09

Good= food!

Dottydotts · 27/03/2018 23:25

Platypus Smile

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 27/03/2018 23:52

dotty great to know it work ed for you and I'm not just being gullible!

I think there is such an emotional aspect to overeating/weight gain it makes sense to try to address that.

This program makes me think I am not a pathetic fatty, rather someone that can choose to treat themselves well . And I'm already seeing the difference between "dieting"( ie. denying yourself nice things) and "treating yourself well"(eating what you want and enjoying it, and not abusing yourself or your body)
