I need your help, I have been an eating machine since the beginning of December. I am getting fatter and fatter by the day and am so miserable.

Today I put my brave head on and got on the scales. I weigh 11 stone 4.5lbs. I am not very tall so I am barrelesque and wobbly.

Things really have to change, honestly none of my clothes fit and I only have three dresses that I can currently fit into. My jeans do not fit and are so tight I can barely do them up let alone breathe.

Please join me in sorting my fat act out.

Nothing is budging this week.

I went out for treat dinner last night (it was the weekly treat meal and I did have three courses and a cocktail but even so I chose fairly wisely from the menu and had no lunch beforehand). Have put on half a bastard pound overnight.

Otherwise have eaten nothing more than the usual all week - healthy choices for every meal, minimal carbs, nothing sweet, no booze. Grim. What can I do to get things moving again?

GothMummy · 04/03/2018 21:56

Hello, I hope you don't mind me joining you all. I got on the scales this morning to find that I have (despite thinking I was dieting) put on loads of weight since Christmas and I am now 13 stone. The maximum I should be (according to NHS chart) is 11stone 4lbs. So that will be my goal. I'm really cross with myself but trying not to beat myself up too much about it.

lurkingfromhome · 05/03/2018 07:41

Do join us, GothMummy. Quite right, no point beating yourself up about it. We normally weigh in on a Monday and report our results here.

On that note, I am finally in the 10s!

Starting weight 15 Jan: 11 st 11.
Today's weight: 10 st 13 (yay!)
Target weight: 10 st 3

Next mini-goal 10 st 11 so that I will have lost a full stone. However this week I have two dinners out in a row plus will be cooking my mum a special Mother's Day dinner or taking her out for lunch, so I predict no loss next week, that's for sure ...

caggie09 · 05/03/2018 08:28

Morning all. Hello GothGrin

I have been off track since Thursday, and the scales this morning tell me im 10st 8. Argh, the false hope of 10st 5 the other day. Anyway, hopefully its just fluctuations and ill get back down by Monday. Atleast the snows going now, wont make me eat crap now!

caggie09 · 05/03/2018 08:29

Also, well done Lurking, its nice when you tip ovsr into a new stone brackst!

IsabelleSE19 · 05/03/2018 10:16

Congratulations lurking - that's great! Star

The usual for me - a tiny loss. However, it means I can finally say I've lost half a stone Hmm

Starting weight: 12st 9lb
Last week: 12st 2.25
This week: 12st 2lb

This week, instead of 5:2 I'm going to just try and eat sensible healthy food and see what the difference is. Since I've been losing either nothing or a teeny tiny amount, surely it can't at least be any worse?!

lurkingfromhome · 05/03/2018 11:28

Thank you both Smile. Caggie, I'm sure it is just fluctuations.

Any loss is a loss, Isabelle but I think if the scales aren't budging as you'd like them to, then it does no harm to change things a bit and see if that helps.

Eating sensibly is pretty much all I've been doing as I'm not counting calories. I think I've kind of been doing the No S diet they talk about on a few other threads, which seems quite a sensible way of doing things - no sugar, no snacks and no second helpings except for a weekly treat or two.

On another note, do any of you have menfolk you know the weight of? My DH has been losing weight for a while now. He's 6 ft tall and really quite strong and well-built but according to the BMI calculator his healthy weight should be between 9 stone 10 and 13 stone 3. I honestly can't imagine how a 6 ft tall man could possibly be 9 stone 10 and look healthy. My dad is a very slight man, only 5 ft 9 and he weighs just over 11 stone and looks very slender.

DH is now 15 stone and actually looks really pretty good and well proportioned for his height. He could stand to lose a little bit more, I think, but he is a bit appalled at the thought that he'd need to shed at least another 2 stone just to scrape into the healthy weight bracket. I can see on paper that 15 stone sounds a lot but I really don't think he looks like he still has 3 stone to lose to get into the middle of the healthy weight range. But I'm not sure if we're just finding it hard to be objective and are deluding ourselves. Any thoughts?

DailyMailareDicks · 05/03/2018 13:01

Hi everyone
I didn't have a great week, snow made me eat lots of unhealthy food! Plus a night out with the girls.. I've put on 0.5kg so about 1lb.

This week I have a couple of really stressful meetings and stress is defo a trigger for me. Also hotel buffet dinner and breakfast is not great. Hope you all have a better week than me. Grin

Caggie09 · 09/03/2018 09:27

Totm has arrived, trying not to demolish a truck load of chocolate and unhealthy foods!

lurkingfromhome · 10/03/2018 17:42

I have emerged from my two days of indulgence - not too bad, really, but I did have more carbs than I would have liked (granola, bread, etc but no potatoes) plus bigger portions and bits and pieces of sweet stuff, which I could have taken or left, so that’s a small victory.

Am having veg soup for dinner tonight then have a Mother’s Day dinner tomorrow to factor in, after which I should get back on track. Fully expect to have put a pound or two on for Monday’s weigh in but can’t be helped. Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

shoelaces · 11/03/2018 08:44

Lurking that sounds great! Sometimes it not about what you weigh but if you have mad good choices 90% of the time. Developing those behaviours will help you maintain and loose, rather than yo-yo.

My weigh Day is Sunday, so here goes.
Started at 94.2kg
Last week 90.0kg
This week 89.3kg

Total lost 5kg!!

lurkingfromhome · 12/03/2018 07:09

And here we go ... actually the weekend away did not have that terrible an effect so I guess I can actually go off the wagon for celebrations and weekends away but always with the thought in mind that I still need to make reasonably good choices and not have cake three times a day.

Started at: 11 st 11
Last week: 10 st 13
Today: 10 st 11.8
Target: 10 st 3
Next mini-goal: 10 st 11

Loss this week: 1.2 lbs. I can live with that.

Well done, shoelaces - excellent result. And good luck to everyone else weighing in today!

BarrysnotLyons · 12/03/2018 07:50

Well done on the losses.
Weighing in after 3/4 bad weeks. 5lb up but hopefully can find some determination to get back on the wagon.

IsabelleSE19 · 12/03/2018 13:13

Well done lurking!

After giving up 5:2 last week and just trying to not snack, eat smaller portions and replace some carbs with veg, my numbers are:

Starting weight: 12st 9lbs
Last week: 12st 2
This week: 12st 0.25

So pretty chuffed with it - didn't cover myself in glory yesterday with food choices, but still managed almost a 2lb loss which is much better than my recent weeks of 5:2. Will keep going this week and see if I can get under 12st. Good luck everyone!

Thebluedog · 12/03/2018 13:24

Can I join???

I’ve put on nearly 3 stone in 2 years and I’m well above my healthy bmi now, I’m 5’3” so don’t carry weight very well. Ive been trying to lose weight for ages now, to no avail, I can be good on the week, then it all goes to pot on the weekend, but at least now I’ve managed to maintain my weight rather than it climbing again.

Anyway, I started exercising last week, joined a gym and did 5 classes. Again had a good week, but way too much alcohol and treats (well it was mothers day) this weekend but did manage a 1.5 lb weight loss.

This week I’m back on the excercise band wagon, I have 4 classes booked (one days done this morning) but I am out with a friend on Saturday.

I’ve comutted to carrying on with the excercise until at least the end of April.

This week I’m aiming for another 1.5lb weight loss

Caggie09 · 12/03/2018 18:20

Been busy, so just had chance to weigh in! Still 10st 5, happy with that as i went off track abit. Well done everyone else!

lurkingfromhome · 13/03/2018 09:05

Isabelle I'm really pleased that made a difference! That's excellent. Sounds like you're really back on track now so you should def get below 12 by next Monday.

Welcome, Thebluedog, please do join us. The only rule is that weigh-ins are on Mondays and we try to encourage each other a bit along the way. Sounds like you're doing pretty well.

Well done caggie - I think just staying at the same weight is fine if you've had to go off the wagon a bit.

Barrysnotlyons shall we give you a kicking to get you back on the wagon? I feel your pain - I think it's fairly easy to stay on the wagon once you're there but once you come off it it's a billion times more difficult to get back on track. We've all been there. Grin

AutumnalTed · 13/03/2018 11:47

Going to jump on this thread too, not 5:2ing because I’m still breast feeding but was 12.1 last Wednesday so I’m up for a Wednesday weight in even though I weigh myself every morning Grin was 11.9 today so hopefully on the right track. Goal weight is 9.7.

AutumnalTed · 13/03/2018 11:48

Monday weigh ins oops!!!

BarrysnotLyons · 13/03/2018 12:38

Yes please Lurking tell me offGrin.
Seeing consultant tomorrow and will hopefully get pain under control which in turn will improve my mood and dietary habits.

Caggie09 · 15/03/2018 17:58

Hello all, Im doing really well at the moment. Weirdly, i feel thinner. Im picking up belly fat and its feels like its shrinking. I feel very body postive at the moment, and dont mind what i see in the mirror. That could change within days, depending on my moods!

lurkingfromhome · 16/03/2018 08:30

How did you get on at the consultant, BarrysnotLyons? Very hard to even think about losing weight if you're in pain. Hope you got some sort of pain management in place.

Caggie that sounds excellent. I'm feeling positive too as all the clothes that I'd had to shove to the back of the wardrobe because they no longer fitted now seem to fit me again, so I have a whole new wardrobe to play with! I think another month or two will do it for the diet then I will have to move on to the much more difficult weight management phase ...

shoelaces · 18/03/2018 10:11

I lost 0.4 kg this week. I know it's going in the right direction but a little frustrated with the pace. I have a holiday in June and had hoped to shift a bit by then.

Today's weigh-in - weight loss is definitely slowing down but I was out for dinner on Saturday AND Sunday. Tries to make as healthy choices as I could given the menus, but I did have a few glasses of prosecco, half a big slice of cake and a scoop of ice cream. Will really focus this week and try to get things moving along again:

Started at: 11 st 11
Last week: 10 st 11.8
Today: 10 st 11
Target: 10 st 3
Next mini-goal: 10 st 7

Good luck to everyone else weighing in today!
