10.1 no idea why the scales are so sticky this week I have been perfectly golden no more than 1000 cals a day monday-friday and I gained a mystery lb on Tuesday and have ended up sts as last Friday! Honestly thought I would be sending the 10s packing this week and now I am annoyed as I have a weekend away this weekend and a friends birthday next week and another foodie weekend next weekend so everything is fucked Angry

I have a suggestion keep so you can get moving on this without spending anything - activity trackers aren’t necessarily that reliable to calculate tdee- they don’t take into account many different factors - and the discrepancy might be negliable. I’d use an online calculator if I were you to get an idea, put yourself as moderately active (and then be moderately active) If your pedometer isn’t registering the steps, it doesn’t mean they didn’t happen. If you follow your set cals and do a decent amount of activity, monitor the weight loss but give it 2-3 weeks & average it. You can then work out your actual tdee, to clarify if you get a tdee of 2000, eat 1500. Over 3 weeks if you lose 3 pound, you’re spot on - 3500 cals in 1 lb, 3500 cals cut from diet.
I have a Fitbit charge and I love it but it’s just a pricey pedometer

Yep over complicating haha! Yes do that and see, then reward yourself with a decent pedometer after that😉 Too easy to get bogged down in the minutiae when really we need to get started. Everything else can follow. Consistency, patience, perseverance.
My WI has me at 11.5, so .6 since last Friday however (working on not say but as it sounds like an excuse!) my movements are very sluggish so I’m more inclined to think I’ll see 11.4’ish tomorrow as I was 11.4.6 yesterday. Did my gym and lots of steps already today, trying to get ahead of the weekend maintenance stage. Blooming freezing here!

HairsprayBabe · 19/01/2018 12:35

oopsy just ate a rather large home made brownie one of the guys in my office brought in...

bugger it was nice Blush

Not2bObvious · 19/01/2018 12:57

Oh stop, I’m so tempted to buy myself a cream cake😩 But seriously you’ve done great all week hair, a little of what you fancy won’t pile all your losses back on. You need to learn how to behave when you get to your goal. You don’t see your life never eating another cake? Ok, you can’t eat all the cakes but one you’ve tracked won’t break the bank😉

Koko my cheap not Fitbit is called delvfire or something. It tracks heart rate, steps, has gps for walks and runs. It has some set activities you can switch on such as yoga, running, cycling etc. It only lets you have 3 activities on the device at one time but you can switch them in and out. The app for it is not nearly as good as the Fitbit one but you could probably transfer the data to a different app. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this one but it's very cheap and does what I need quite well. If you chose to track an activity it doesn't include steps, which makes sense as then it's not tracking your calorie burn twice.

BeyondWW · 19/01/2018 16:35

Will carry on catching up now, just want to jump in first and say I have a fitbit Alta hr :) so I can guarantee it's good at catching small amounts of movement as that's pretty much all I do!

BeyondWW · 19/01/2018 16:42

Here's my calories in to (alleged) calories out for this week. Trouble I have is I'm tachicardiac so I think it's thinking I burn more calories than I do cause of that...

Demonstrated by pic number two which puts a lot of my day in "fat burn"...

Golden day 1 of 13 Star
5000 steps at work then a 10k run when I got in and 1100 cals.
This is nothing to do with seeing a new guy and me wanting him to think I'm smokin' Blush

Hi everyone. Reading the fitbit info with interest as I'm considering getting one. I know exactly how many calories I burn in the gym everyday (615 today Smile) but would like to know additional cals burned by walking which I do a lot of. Also, does the fitbit monitor sleep patterns?? Sorry for all the questions I seem to be asking lately!

poorpaws · 19/01/2018 23:05

BOOP I’m liking the idea of the wedges, thank you.

Judy my Fitbit One monitors sleep patterns but I don’t find it too accurate. I am a very light sleeper and wake a lot in the night but it tells me I sleep for hours longer than I do.

Last it’s my daughters birthday on Sunday as well - I had her in the January sales 😀 have a good one.

Back to the Fitbit I read some time ago that the clip on ones (my One is clip on) are much more accurate than the watch type. I have no experience of the watch ones though.

Whoever asked about cholesterol (sorry can’t re-read again). I had blood taken for it and glucose on Tuesday, results next Monday and hoping it’s not bad news.

Day 5 of trying hard done and still on track- this could be a record, no chocolate for 5 days.

Not2bObvious · 20/01/2018 06:55

Morning all. Scales up to11.6.2 after a disgraceful Friday night blow out. So much for my brave words about maintenance calories. Oh well it’s my first binge of 2018 so it’s out of way. I kind of wonder if I’d just had the cake I wanted would I have been able to draw a line under the excess eating? Hmm, I do find if I’m obsessing about something I tend to go all out with alternatives. Apparently you live and learn, eh me? Not so much😳
I’m a bit delicate this morning, struggling to decide whether to do a class - I have done 3 this week so that’s my minimum, arghh! Can’t make my mind up! Lunch out today at a fab restaurant, I really should attempt to burn some calories...

HairsprayBabe · 20/01/2018 07:56

10 dead same as last Saturday and I have a very social/foodie last week of January

Then February is my birthday month...

I have had a look at the "ideal weight" calaculators that asses your frame age and height and they suggest I should be between 9.7 and 9.2 which was my final goal anyway so good to know I have a decent end point, and it is only half a stone away...

Shame it is the hardest part!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 20/01/2018 08:01

I weighed in this morning and I'm down another linda, so now 3lbs down for the month and 10lbs away from my goal.

MountainDweller sorry to hear you've been struggling for your health. You're abroad aren't you? I don't know how it works where you are, but has your doctor been able to give you any advice about lowering your cholesterol?

Happy birthday for tomorrow Last!

Beyond I am loving the graphs, does the fitbit do that automatically?

I am so tempted to get one but I couldn't wear it at work so it would probably be pretty pointless as it would be missing so much.

TheDonald · 20/01/2018 08:17

I have the fitbit Alta. I agree about the sleep. It gets mine really wrong sometimes. I think it only registers that you are awake of you get up. Not if you lie in bed mumsnetting between 2 & 4 am Blush

Otherwise I like it. I log my weight on it and sync it to MFP so I get a more accurate target calories. I aim to not eat my exercise calories unless my deficit is more than 300. Then I do otherwise I'm starving the next day.

I like the reminders to do 250 steps an hour too because I have a very sedentary job and sometimes I don't move all morning.

I'm interested in the hr one though. Does it give a more accurate calorie burn? Does that mean a higher rhr means you burn more calories? Mine is quite low (51) which I thought was good. I'd rather have a higher one if it means I can eat more! Grin

Not2bObvious · 20/01/2018 09:45

I’m pretty sure the Alta has the same HR function as the charge HR - the Alta wasn’t out when I bought mine and I’d much prefer it, I find mine very chunky under tight sleeves etc.
Well I made it to the gym and any slight hangover I had was sweated out so that’s good. Lying down & sipping coffee, shower & beautification for my outing to follow. It could take some time, I’m like Lego!

TheDonald · 20/01/2018 09:46

Saturday weigh in update: 10 stone 10 exactly. Down 0.8 since last Saturday. Nothing very dramatic but I'll take it. I had a rotten start to the week. On Monday I ate ALL the food trying to stave off a cold. My peak flow has been low all week so I've done no exercise so actually a tiny loss is good news.

Have a good weekend everyone WineCake

BeyondWW · 20/01/2018 09:55

Checking in, stayed the same. There's an Alta and an Alta hr, not. I have the hr one and find my sleep pretty accurate (I was gonna load up a graph - yes they are automatic - but as it's currently connected to my phone it won't load up properly on my iPad)

Spuriouser, could you wear it around your ankle? I think it's still pretty accurate if you do.

Koko the only slight problem is that sometimes when I lift my arm it doesn't automatically swap over to the clock - but it shows when you tap it so it's fine. I had a charge hr before and much prefer the Alta - I didn't like how fat the charge was Grin

Give you an idea of how it looks in "rl" I'll take a picture now... (please excuse my ugly arthritic finger)
I have loads of straps - pick them up cheap on eBay Wink
