'Putting it on' that should say Blush

SparklyLights · 10/01/2018 23:31

Thank you kikis ! that's brilliant about your weightloss! I hope I can do the same. I am just finding myself snacking more and more every day, usually I don't but I gave myself Christmas "off" and I'm just carrying on Shock really hoping I get a grip! What has been your biggest help, is it exercise or tracking what you eat etc?

QuimReaper · 10/01/2018 23:42

Welcome Sparkly to the Best Thread on Mumsnet™! I so know the feeling of struggling to get back into the swing of it after Christmas - thanks to this thread I did a stunning job last year, and although less impressive this year, I've found my mojo again now! Like you Hairspray, my first couple of FDs after Christmas were absolute torture, but I'm FINALLY having a proper good week and am already feeling heaps better.

What's your strategy Sparkly? Just general moderation and healthy food, or are you a faster / low-carber / otherwise?

Kikisdeliveries · 11/01/2018 07:15

Logging every mouthful sparkly, Mfp. There's no hiding! Even if it eat junk it gets logged and then I don't get much to eat. I don't eat back exercise calories. You have to have a strong couple of days where you accept you will be hungry as your body adjusts to not being filled with sugar/salt/booze every 5 minutes (ie, my Christmas!), and then it's fine.

HairsprayBabe · 11/01/2018 07:20

Glad to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel Quim! It has been a struggle 😂

Welcom Sparkly love the name btw! This really is the best thread on MN and you are most welcome here

10.2 for me this morning so 6lbs off since xmas now.... really feel like I can leave the 10s in 2017 now!

Did a bit of BMI calculating last night and now mine is lower than DPs.... he was not thrilled and started muttering about the gym 😂 but he is 6ft and 12st so really nothing to worry about!

Also looking at joining some sort of gym excercise place class in Nottingham, as DP won't be about I might end up going in the evening from boredom 😂

comeagainforbigfudge · 11/01/2018 08:42

12st 13lb today
Total loss to date 4lbs

Weighed myself as for some reason I thought it was Thursday last that I did. It wasn't. Was sat. Confused

Ate so much bread yesterday. Was so hungry and freezing that I caved at just about every meal. Although I also think its just bad bad planning on my part. Got some bones boiling up for stock just now. Need to get the freezer stocked with loads of individual portions of soup

But no diet coke. Had massively cut down to one 500mls bottle a day but none at all yesterday.

Got a leaving lunch today involving booze. Will have to stick to gin & soda

SparklyLights · 11/01/2018 10:22

Thanks for the lovely welcome! Flowers

Good idea to log every mouthful Kikis. I am a major grazer which is fine when it's healthy or I am watching my portion size but at the moment I am eating all the food in the land and grazing in between.. its got to stop!

Quim Congratulations on your flying start! It's great to hear you did so well last year and it's all going well again this year. That is very inspiring to me!

My usual strategy is moderation, drink a lot of water and busy myself a lot (extra walks instead of taking the car for short journeys, really putting some welly into the cleaning). Just got to stop the snacking!

Hairspray well done on your 6lb loss! That's amazing. My DH thinks all overeating can be solved with a trip to the gym but I believe if you don't eat it in the first place it's better, so we tussel over that... he's always saying "Just go to the gym and then you can eat XYZ"!

Comeagain also well done on your 4lb off and for cutting back on the Diet Coke, it's a hard habit to break. Totally agree about the planning. If I don't have anything suitable in I think I'll just have beans on toast but if I'm not concentrating it turns into return trips to the kitchen for more toast and maybe a few biscuits!

Today I've got a new mindset though. So far, so good! (at 10am... taps fingers... ignores fridge... Smile I really don't want to slide into my old ways. I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago and I really don't want to pile it back on. Going to get some more water now, it does help fill you up!

BeyondWW · 11/01/2018 10:37

Up a smidge today but still down six Lindas for the month :)

Probably not helped by a friend feeding me sweet rose wine (I kept it to one glass) and mini flapjacks (two) last night...
Still stayed within my calories though

HairsprayBabe · 11/01/2018 12:08

having a kiwi, blueberry, spinach, ginger and coconut smoothie for lunch, being a little bit odd by eating it from a bowl with a spoon as it makes it feel more like a soup and less like a drink so I will be more satisfied by it.

That's the theory anyway!

Feezles · 11/01/2018 13:35

Welcome Sparkly!

Well done, ComeAgain - I was at the glorious low of 12st 13lb myself a couple of days ago, but I've gone up a pound, probably due to being ill.

I'm not helping myself today, either - it's my birthday so I'm having a day off and hang the consequence. Won't be stepping on the scales until after the weekend nowSmile

HairsprayBabe · 11/01/2018 13:44

Feezles Happy Birthday Cake

Not2bObvious · 11/01/2018 14:45

Happy birthday feezles - have a great day & enjoy it guilt free. Welcome sparkly, I’ve taken a leaf out of your book and have kept super hydrated, getting extra steps going back/forth to the loo, double win😉
Scales down to 11.6.6, so I’m nearly 2lb lighter than last week, hope it stays the same for my official WI tomorrow (who am I kidding I want it to drop!) Totm though so it could be pear shaped. Saw a picture of myself and I could really sick how thick of waist and thighs I am, just another kick up the arse that my jeans may fit but my body just isn’t where I want it. Visually overweight and I so want to change that this year.
I need to do better on my calories for the weekend, it’s always such a challenge. I’ve bought myself a couple of treats that fit my plan and my cals, now I need to stick to them. No try just do!

Kikisdeliveries · 11/01/2018 15:49

I am so hungry, I feel like I could eat a house today. I've just indulged in a buttered hot cross bun but it's not touched the sides, I could easily eat the whole pack. But I won't because Mfp will should at me.

Keeping strong but it's hard today. Mentally not helped by the fact I've gone back up 2 Lindas this week, despite keeping between 1200-1400 calories every day since jan 2nd, except on Monday when I ended up at 1800.

ponygirlcurtis · 11/01/2018 16:08

Happy birthday feezles.

I am having a good week so far, back low-carbing proper like and drinking lots of water instead of lots of booze. Hoping there scales reflect this, they don't always play ball Kiki, I know!

cottonwool125 · 11/01/2018 16:53

Struggling this week with keeping to plan and staying within my calorie limits Sad it's the desperate need for sweet things that's getting to me. Today I gobbled down half of a fresh bakery cookie left over from last night (a friend came over and brought them with her, and I had one then too), before I could even stop myself!

Also struggling a bit for meals. I've been having mostly Pasta N Sauce pots for lunches, as they're relatively low cal/fat. I HATE salad. Sandwiches don't fill me up! I do like some soups- I normally end up chucking in a handful of orzo with them to bulk them out a bit.

Has anyone got a typical days food for inspiration?

Therealjudgejudy · 11/01/2018 20:05

Happy birthday Feezles!

Home today and just had my dinner...beans on toast. Back to the gym tomorrow morning and plan to weigh in every Monday morning.

Frittata is something I'd love to pre make for lunches. Anyone have a good recipe?

TheDonald · 11/01/2018 20:23

@cottonwool125 today has gone to plan for me for once!

I've had:

Porridge with ss milk and a handful of frozen berries

A bowl of bean and tomato soup and 2 slices of bread

Some homemade chicken and sweet potato Korma made with coconut milk and basmati rice.

I've also had an apple, a satsuma and some cashew nuts to get me through the 4 o'clock risk zone!

The soup and the curry were both made on Sunday and grabbed out of the freezer.

MFP says I've had 1279 cals. This might be a bit of wishful thinking. I slightly lost track of how many cashews I was picking on at my desk!

I've done 15k steps (including a 1 hour run with hill sprints)

According to mfp I'm up 600 cals. Today has been golden Halo

Tomorrow I'm going to McDonald's!

lastqueenofscotland · 11/01/2018 20:44

Smashed my golden day today Star
Keeping on trucking

twinkledag · 11/01/2018 22:59

Pony it's amazing how much being back in a proper routine has helped! But my old job turned me into a monumental stress eater so it's been getting the balance right after that...
