Anyone else planning to start on 1st January?

I need to lose approximately 30lbs.

OP posts:
Amaried · 06/01/2018 18:50

Thanks for that catlady. I know I won't stick to my new regime if I feel very deprived.
I tried chicken fillet in oven with some Aldi thicken chicken soup( packet) , loads of veg and a smallish portion ( well for me anyhow ) of brown rice. Nice and full now but craving a sugar fix..
wonder how long it will take for those to go away!
I really really need to give away the last Of the Xmas goodies. They are calling me....

Amaried · 06/01/2018 18:52

Ps frankiehat , that's a disappointing start especially when you've been good but try and stick with it. Where you are in your cycle can make a massive difference so hopefully in s few days you should start to see the scales move down !

frankiehat · 06/01/2018 21:18

Amaried did you manage to avoid the remaining goodies?

I'm not sure the cycle thing works for me as am a serial daily weigher for the last two years and my weight tends to STS despite where I am in my cycle..

Didn't go for a run as it got too late but managed 9k steps and two smallish meals so not too bad. Sat whilst children ate
Pizza and garlic bread and didn't even eat one leftover crust!

RenaissanceBunny · 06/01/2018 21:39

I've been working hard B porridge, L soup, D casserole. I've walked 12km today and done an hour of Just Dance but I suspect I've hit my weight wall and will be lucky to lose a quarter of a pound a day - but on the bright side that is still more than a pound a week. Anyway planning to take advantage of the good weather tomorrow and go for another walk to hit my 10,000 steps.

Keep on going folks ! Even if the weight isn't shifting I bet you feel better for eating less junk and more veggies. Also is it just me but my skin has gone great, very clear and no spots?!

wizzler · 06/01/2018 21:58

Frankie don't give up! I am sure if you are eating better the results will come.
I have spent the day putting xmas decks away ( up and down 2 flights of stairs) and walking dog. Have not eaten any of Dds birthday cake despite us making a cavity in the middle and filling with chocolate buttons. As Renaissance says, I am starting to feel the benefits and am less bloated

CrestedTit · 07/01/2018 09:02

wizzler I am jealous of your dog walks - we have "fostered" a few dogs from our local rescue but DP always puts his foot down and says no to keeping them permanently despite my pleading Sad. Walking with a dog is so lovely.

Yesterday was OK
B - banana porridge
L - poached egg and gradvalax (sp?) on rye bread
D - fish fingers, baked beans, veg, avocado, yoghurt
Had some wine in the evening, mainly because it's the weekend so I'm "allowed" - now regretting it.
Went for a run and a long (dogless) walk.

Cheers for bumping the thread kham. I'm not sure spam is particularly good for weight loss though 😂

Tortilla pizza sounds like a great idea! I'm a big breakfast person and I need that to start my day so i'm trying to cut down on lunches and alcohol to keep a calorie deficit. Also trying to have 1 piece of toast for breakfast not 2.

Weekend going ok.
Saturday - breakfast: toast and poached egg and yoghurt; lunch: piece of steamed fish & greens; tea: home made thai veg curry
Sunday - breakfast: toast and poached egg; lunch - missed that today; going to have tea in a bit - stir fried squid (not called squid kid for nothing). No alcohol except Friday this week which sadly enough is very impressive for me! I also turned down cake when had friends round for coffee and cake earlier, and managed not to nibble on the kids' pizza lunch.

Boyfriend says I look like I've lost weight. I think I could probably eat a bit more next week but I wanted to do one properly low cal week to start. TBH I don't think I eat a huge amount generally and always thought I should be skinnier than I am, but hey, such is life!

squidkid · 07/01/2018 16:26

Frankie weighing myself used to drive me crazy because of how oddly the numbers would fluctuate... I would lose weight but it would be suddenly two or three weeks after I started... several years ago I decided I would not weigh myself any more and be free of the stress of the numbers...

Keep going, eating well will make a difference to all sorts of things.

Amaried · 07/01/2018 21:52

Hi ladies
Just checking in.
Please keep posting your meal plans, I love taking your ideas
Had a goodish day overall and am under calories.
Always find weekends harder so have high hopes for the week ahead!
Am a bit sick of eggs and chicken though .Confused

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 07/01/2018 22:24

Hello, mind if I join? Smile didn't quite start on 1st but on the 3rd when I went back to work after Xmas. I'm just about on the cusp of being a healthy weight but would like to lose about a stone. I use MFP and calorie count - not so bothered about where the calories come from!!

My day: got up late so no breakfast. Had brunch instead - scrambled egg on a slice of toast with a slice of dry cured bacon and brown sauce.

Dinner: chana masala (curry made with chickpeas), 40g basmati, individual garlic and coriander naan. Light chocolate mousse for after.

Snacks: the last Lindt chocolate ball! And numerous cups of tea.

Also went out for a run. I've got a 10km next month and I haven't ran for ages so I'm back doing 10km trainer - next step up from C25k. So, just under an hour run/walk; just over 7km covered.

Frankie I weigh myself daily but I use an app called "Happy Scale" which focuses on the overall downward trajectory/trend rather than the daily fluctuations. I find it helps me not obsess over them!

FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 07/01/2018 22:42

Had an omelette wrap for lunch. I love them and will be taking one to work to eat cold for lunch. SW chicken tikka masala took ages to make but the sauce was so bitter (too much tomato puree?) I couldn't eat it. So disappointing.

RenaissanceBunny · 07/01/2018 23:27

Hi, I got up super late today and so only managed 1,100 steps which is pretty rubbish but I did do 45 mins of just dance so that’s good. I figure if I manage either my 10,000 steps or 45 mins of dance it isn’t too bad. Well done to everyone on their hard work over the weekend whether you’ve been a saint or just eaten one less biscuit you’ve made a change and are on your way. Have a good week everyone!

CrestedTit · 07/01/2018 23:31

Flex how do you make an omlette wrap? What stops it falling apart?

Threehoursfromhome · 08/01/2018 08:05

Had a good weekend - decent time at Parkrun and spent an hour yesterday cross country running with friends. Not fast but it was all hills, and jumping ditches, and muddy, so felt quite intense. Managed to swerve the post-run cake and kept meals high protein.

Lost a kg after a week, which I'm pleased with given I've been aiming for 1,600 calories a day. We will see if it's just first week water loss or if it continues...

Weights session this afternoon so planning a larger lunch to prepare.

FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 08/01/2018 08:25

Crested you just beat an egg with seasoning and maybe a bit of chilli or chopped coriander. Non stick pan and a good spray of oil. Use the back of a spoon to spread the mixture over the base of the pan. Cook about a minute each side. Yum. If I can find a link I'll post it in a bit.

frankiehat · 08/01/2018 11:45

faded the app sounds good - going to investigate!

frankiehat · 08/01/2018 11:53

The omelette wraps look amazing - may attempt tonight!
Was 9stone12 this morning so definitely on the way down

wizzler · 08/01/2018 13:12

4lbs off! Hurrah

FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 08/01/2018 13:54

Just had two wraps for lunch. One egg each. Added chopped parsley. Filling as per recipe but fresh peppers rather than from a jar and extra ham.

Overjoyed to be 6lbs down. Mainly fluid and recently acquired weight but hey.

Diet starts 1st January
FlexTimeCheekyFucker · 08/01/2018 13:55

Oh and extra mushrooms. You can use what you like really.

frankiehat · 08/01/2018 14:23

Well done to you both! 4 and 6lbs are fantastic losses!
