Anyone else planning to start on 1st January?

I need to lose approximately 30lbs.

Could you try diet cola? I actually prefer the taste of Diet Coke. There’s a big variety in taste so worth trying more than one.

Pepsi Max isn't bad as an alternative - 0 cals. Sometimes when I want to snack I'll have that instead.

I prefer Diet Coke too, as I switched over from full fat to diet. I never drank Coke pre second child, but it was a bit of a vice. I have one glass in the evening with ice, as a 'treat' but maybe not great to substitute Coke with Diet Coke as it's just as addictive sadly!

What Pepsi Max lacks in calories it makes up for in caffeine! Not that that's always a bad thing..

Day four has been OK
B - small portion muesli with fruit salad and yoghurt (which didn't full me up at all so was hungry all morning)
L - egg and potato salad, nuts
T - omlette with new potatoes (DP cooked and didn't know what I'd had for lunch!), veggies and Christmas cake.

Friday tomorrow so I get to have alcohol! Wine My mission is to manage not to drink so much that I forget myself and start to graze..

I've been working hard at it eating only breakfast (porridge) lunch (homemade veggie soup and cracker bread) dinner (living with parents atm so whatever my mum chooses) and a pre bedtime snack (a piece of fruit) absolutely no daytime snacks. I have been drinking rather a lot of skinny lattes which aren't as low calorie as you'd think so I'm going to try americanos tomorrow. I've been doing Just Dance on the Wii every evening and managed to hit my 10,000 steps yesterday and today. The result is 7lbs have fallen off which makes getting on the scales nice but I fully expect from now on to struggle to lose a lb a week but heyho I'll stick at it.

Well done everyone for sticking at it exercise is really hard when it is pouring the forecast for the weekend is generally dry so I'm planning a big (10+km) walk.

When it’s written down like Renaissance has said “going to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner and one snack” it looks so easy! And for me it used to be but that was in excess of 5 years ago now.

I’ve not cracked for sweets or pastries yet but did have a bottle of (posh) lemonade today though. Not bad considering what I was mining through a week ago.

Plus, thighs & glutes dying from squats Blush

Hit my 10,000 steps today! (In fact I did 15,000) I'm chuffed. Didn't have sensible shoes on though so feet are killing. Everyone had homemade wedges, fish fingers and vegetables. I just had the fish and vegetables and one chip that fell off DS's plate this is a big achievement for me, as I stay up late studying and this is when I start to crack and eat stupid amounts of rubbish.

Finding breakfast difficult though, I hate eating cereal, porridge etc. Find it too icky first thing...any suggestions?

I know Legend that does make it sound oh so simple. Like you I do enjoy sweets and cakes but I find four things help: 1) not having them in the house 2) having other people around 3) the virtuous/smug feeling of refusing sweets when other people are having them 4) equating the calories in them to steps/gym time.

I am despondently awaiting next week when the weight won’t budge and I’m craving a triple layer chocolate cake. Still - live for the day!

Yesterday was okay.

B - scrambled eggs on toast
L - tomato and lentil soup, ryebread, cheese, apple
D - quorn chilli and oven baked wedges
S - Handful of nuts

Did a weights session.

However, I slept badly last night and woke up hungry a couple of times, and am sore this morning. Had a slightly random breakfast of smoked mackerel in the hope that the omega 3 will help with recovery.

Renaissance is that weight loss in just a week? That's fantastic. Much easier to keep on track when you can see it's working

Hey wizzler yes it is less than a week but as I've said the first week is really easy the second week is evil and it is a struggle to lose a pound - still it is nice to think I'm the lightest I've been in about seven years !

Five days very healthy here. I don't weigh myself, but clothes feel better. Might have a glass of wine tonight. Just the one! Making some tofu chilli shortly once the kids are asleep. Huuuungry....

I’m still struggling with controlling my portion sizes at dinner time and STILL haven’t managed any real exercise, but I’m feeling pretty chuffed with my efforts this week regardless. Haven’t had any booze, have been eating vegetarian, drinking loads of water, cut down on caffeine and have felt pretty good for it all. Baby Steps!

Today I had:
Breakfast: overnight oats
Lunch: 2 eggs and big salad
Snacks: 3 cracker thins from Aldi, banana, orange
Dinner: 2 peppers stuffed with veg, quinoa & brown rice (was starving, so went for a second).

Usually on a Friday I’m chowing down on a takeaway and ploughing my way through a bottle of wine. So not bad Grin

AppyForts I haven't managed any exercise either, maybe I will next week when the kids are back at school. So far the diet's been going ok, it's much easier to calorie count without alcohol calories to add, that said I'll be having a glass of wine tonight and tomorrow but I don't intend to have snacky food with it.

Down 3 this morning so very happy with that, been pretty good, had a roast chicken dinner there though but with no potatoes or gravy so don't think that can be too bad.,

Compared to what my normal week was like over Christmas. I've been amazing but managed no exercise at all🙁 so might need to remove the two tonne of dust from the thread mill and use that over next few days

I absolutely swear by these shakes for breakfast.

Perfect balance of protein, carbs and sugars to set me up for the day.

I feel so much more alert and focussed and they definitely helped my weightless (along with cutting out junk food and 20 mins cardio!)

so I'm continuing them for a 3rd year!

Good luck!

Yesterday went okay, was tired, and didn't go to pub which helped.

Smoked mackerel on toast for breakfast
Roast parsnip soup, ryebread and cheese for lunch
Quorn chilli and oven baked wedges for dinner
Handful of nuts and an apple for snacks

I was hungry again last night - might be the wedges causing a blood sugar spike then dip. However, I don't want to cut out food groups, just reduce refined sugar, have to see how it goes over the next few days.

Christ, will we have forever living on here next to tell us how aloe Vera helped them shed 26 stone? Hmm

Threehoursfromhome I'm also getting hungry in the evenings but I've found that having a big glass of water or squash fills my stomach up and then I seem to just get past it so I don't wake up starving in the morning. It feels strangely good to have been going over 12 hours a day without food this week but I guess that's "normal" for those who don't habitually snack in the evenings..

Yesterday was good (by my standards at least):
B - 2 fried eggs, 1 slice toast and marg
L - mixed salad, superfood protein shake
T - Lentil soup, extra veg, avocado, bread roll
Exercise - 5k run
Drank an inordinate amount of beer in the evening but the drinking didn't turn to snacking or binging so I'm counting that as a success Smile

Planning a long walk with DDog this afternoon. Am very envious of those of you who can knock out a 5k run!..

Am plannig scrambled egg on one slice of toast for lunch, and DH is making paella tonight. I might try having it on a smaller plate to see if portion control is easier ( he is 6ft 2" and I have a tendency to eat as muc as him!!)

Well done on losing 3 amaried

Had 2 glasses of wine not 1 last night. This has to stop! Back on the wagon! If I don't drink anything else that's still just 4-5 units this week though.

Eating has all been ok though. Have reduced my normal mighty breakfast, and had a small piece of fish with greens for lunch. Did 1.5 hour yoga class this morning which felt good!

Okay so since starting last week I seem to have put 2lb on! Hmm

Am very annoyed with myself - I know I have eaten quite a few chocolate biscuits but I have eaten hardly anything the rest of the time so maybe calorie counting isn't working for me... and maybe someone needs to tell me that you can't lose weight and eat crap at the same time.

It's so hard to get back into the dieting mindset...

I’ve discovered tortilla pizzas! They are a WW find and I tried them tonight. I adore pizza so was expecting them to suck. But they’re actually really nice!

Take a tortilla wrap, spread some tomato purée over it, add herbs. I added some cooked chicken and sliced red onion. Then I had 1/2 tbsp Parmesan and 1 tbsp grated cheddar. Oven cook for a few minutes. Om nom nom 👍🏻
