It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

Afternoon all,

Ok I had a melt down when getting weighed on Saturday. I cannot believe I only lost 1/2 a pound. Sad

Greenrabbit · 25/02/2018 18:12

Are you okay Rachey?

I put on 3.5 lb over half term. Struggling this week.

Don’t know if I should try to be very strict for March?

Racheyg · 25/02/2018 19:29

Thanks green I will be. I was so good all week and to only lose 1/2 lbs crushed me. I was about ready to give it all up, during my melt down I had an audience as well Blush

I physically and mentally cannot give anymore, since i had my eldest I have near enough given up Alcohol thinking this was my main cause of weight gain but I don't know now. I'm just so deflated.

Did you have a good half term? Did you find you had to get extra food in and found you were eating more ? That's what I found.

pom. how are you getting on?

sol how are you doing?

Greenrabbit · 25/02/2018 21:02

I’m thinking of doing something more low carb and lowish fat for March Rachey. I’m going to figure something out tomorrow and do a meal plan.
I quite like the diet but I seem to have loads of points left over so I keep drinking gin and snacking. Blush I need to get out of that habit.

I’d planned half term quite well to start with. Then DH took the Friday off and I went into some sort of crazy eating mode. The DC had an extra inset day on the Monday so we had a night away. I ate and drank too much, I did enjoy it though.

Did the WW leader have any advice? I would have been disappointed too.
I’d be gutted if I found that alcohol wasn’t my weight gain cause. I really need to stop.

Racheyg · 26/02/2018 18:57

green no not really. Said I should weigh everything and limit the amount of "zero" foods. I did see a good post on connect that on the old weigh watchers a seemingly low point daily meal worked out at 22 points but on the new flex it was free. Maybe ww isn't for me?

Glad you had a great time for half term.

We didn't do much as we are trying to save for the wedding and decorate aswell. Loving my lounge now, just waiting for my sofa, curtains and lampshades. I can't believe I've only just discovered wayfair

Pomegranatepompom · 27/02/2018 12:17

Sorry to hear re meltdown rachey it's so frustrating. How much do you want to lose now? How about trying fasting?

I want a new sofa, like the Loaf ones but they are £££ and wondering if worth it.

Sounds like you had a lovely half term Green Low carb sounds good. Is high fat better as less sugar? Have you been watching the Joe Wicks programme? It's quite inspiring, I tried to do a hiit but found it really hard.

My scales were wonky last week, I reweighed today and have lost 3.5lbs in 2 weeks. I have been really strict though, it's all so depressing. I feel like I won't ever be able to have chocolate/cakes without being fat.
I'd like to lose minimum 8lb before Easter, then I'll have 2 weeks off. No doubt will regain those 8lb ! But then I'll have a new aim for summer Grin. From my current weight, I'd like to lose around 16lbs. It doesn't sound much but pretty much all my weigh is ton my tummy.

Talking of which, shall we do a new thread title? new mums getting ready for summer or something like that?

Sol how are you? Are you super busy?

Racheyg · 27/02/2018 13:46

pom wow well done on 3 1/2lb loss that's amazing.

I ideally want to get to 9st I'm 10st 9lbs at the moment.

Will post more later x

Greenrabbit · 28/02/2018 22:38

That’s greatpom. I’ve not watched the Joe Wicks programme.
I’ll have to catch up.
Does anyone have snow? We do, DC school was closed today and probably tomorrow. We had a good day in the snow though.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 05/03/2018 06:45

Hi everyone.

I had a crappy few weeks and just hid from the world. I’m very fat and being snowed in really didn’t help.

However, I am starting the old ProPoints weightwatchers today and I am feeling a bit more positive.

I think starting a new Summer thread is a brilliant idea Pom. Give me a title and I’ll set it up. I want to leave the last few months behind and focus on Summer.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 05/03/2018 13:08

I’m glad you are feeling a bit better Sol. Sometimes you just need to hide and get through it all.
I keeping thinking about going back to pro points. There seems to be some useful info online about it, how do you work out how many points you are allowed?
But really I just lack self control with anything.

How long were you snowed in for?

We could have got out of the street as I have a 4X4 but most roads were bad and everywhere interesting for the DC was closed. DD2 hates the cold so wouldn’t go outside for long anyway. It was really hard avoiding eating too much. I walked to the shop on Saturday for wine!

I agree we should all just focus on the Summer. I feel like it’s been a rubbish start to the year.

I’m trying to have a fast day to slightly offset the weekend.

I’ve got PMT and I’m irrationally furious over a last minute ‘social thing’ that has been just been arranged for this evening. I could really do without it but will probably be made to feel really guilty if I say no.

I know I probably seem ridiculous.

Greenrabbit · 05/03/2018 22:07

I went to the thing and avoided most of the food. The DC have had another late night.
Now I have a list of other ‘things’ happening this month. I hate March.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 06/03/2018 11:00

Thanks for your kind words Green. I feel a bit better after a break from everything.

We were snowed in for 5 days, DH was able to get out yesterday but some of the drifts are bigger than me. The main roads around here are fine, if a little icy, but any of the smaller roads are a disaster. I’m not terribly confident driving in the snow but we made it to the shops this morning.

Well done on avoiding the food last night. Do you think you’re frustrated about social things because you’re not feeling very happy in yourself at the moment? I know that’s how I feel.

I feel so much more restricted on ProPoints but the carb free for all that is slimming world and the ww equivalent was a disaster for me. I found my old ww stuff and I lost 18 lbs in just over 8 weeks according to my weigh in record. I’d like to do that again.

There’s loads of ProPoints Facebook groups and you can buy the books and stuff on eBay if you don’t have them. So I’m going to do it until the end of April and see how I get on. I have completely lost the concept of portion control and I’m rather ashamed of my bad habits. Dieting is bloody hard, but I’m really unhappy with how I look.

Sol so nice to see you and sorry you've had a crap time. Glad you re feeling a bit more positive. Good luck with pro points, I think you are right re slimming world, all those carbs can't help, my friend has been doing slimming world for 8 weeks and hasn't really lost any weight !

The snow was such a downer, I hate being restricted to home stuff. Hopefully we are set for Spring now.

How was your fast day Green ? well done for avoiding food last night. Sorry you hate March though !

I lost a lb this week. It's so slow ... I'm still running (jogging), and starting to like it more after about 2 years of trying.

How are you rachey ?

Not so new mums slink into summer.
Not so new mums getting summer ready.
Not so new mums, the summer blitz
Not so new mums, there's no stoping us now
Not so new mum, this is the summer (of slim)

Any good?

Racheyg · 06/03/2018 17:29

Evening all,

sol great to hear from you. Sorry you have had a crappy few weeks. What's the old weight watchers pro points? I'm guessing that's not on the app?

Wow your snow sounds awful, I'm guessing it's all cleared now.

green well done for avoiding the food, you don't sound ridiculous I hate things being sprung on me.

pom well done on your 1lb loss. I've been told slow and steady wins the race. Are you jogging outside?

I've been pretty down these past few weeks so haven't posted much. I'm not losing weight and getting frustrated I'm working so hard I just feel it's all for nothing.

I have been watching the joe wicks and I do think I might go back to his diet but it's so restrictive but at least I lost weight

Thanks so much ladies. You’re all so lovely.

I’m loving the name “Not so new Mums, the summer blitz” Pom. It sounds really inspiring and like we are going to get it done. Congratulations on losing 1lb. You are doing so well.

I’m sorry you’ve been down too Rachey. It’s so hard when you’ve been putting in so much work. The ProPoints finished in 2013 I think but there’s loads of info online. It’s far more restrictive but I’ll see how I do after a week.

OP posts:
Pomegranatepompom · 09/03/2018 13:49

Hope you are feeling more positive Rachey

I feel quite inspired to do Joe Wicks, maybe after Easter? or I might do the blood sugar diet properly.

How are you getting on Sol and Green ?

Just been shopping, Lots of Spring/Summer stuff in shops now. I got a top in Gap, will try and link.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 09/03/2018 16:23

Week one of ProPoints done. 4lbs off. I’m delighted. Having a bit of a pick of rubbish today but no where near as much as usual. I’ve become a bit addicted to chocolate rice cakes, they are so nice and much bigger than biscuits.

Can’t wait to see what you got Pom. I love your style. I haven’t watched the Joe Wicks show, is it good?

Pomegranatepompom · 09/03/2018 17:02

Yay ! That's so fab Sol really pleased for you.

Just ordered a few things from
Boden too Blush

Gap has 40% at the mo.

Pomegranatepompom · 09/03/2018 17:03

It's quite inspiring but I tried to do a hiit and failed miserably. People lose loads though ...,

Racheyg · 09/03/2018 20:12

Just a quick one will putting boys to bed.......
I lost nearly 4 st doing hiit and eating joe wicks recipes. The reason I never went to stage 3 was because I was fed up of constantly cooking Blush

Racheyg · 09/03/2018 20:12

sol 4lbs is amazing well done x

SolitudeSometimesIs · 10/03/2018 07:01

Four stone is a huge loss Rachey. How long did it take you to lose it? I have Joe Wicks cook book, his first one I think. Some of the stuff is really tasty. I hear you about all of the cooking, I get so sick of it and coming up with new meal ideas that suit the whole family is a pain.

You’ll have to link to your Boden stuff too Pom, I can shop vicariously through you.

I’m really happy with 4lbs gone in 5 days, I only started on Monday. I have changed my weigh in to a Friday as we have visitors this weekend and while I plan not to go mad, we have a takeaway for one night and a meal out tomorrow. I’ll stick to my weeklies and point everything, this is the first time in ages I have gone in to a weekend without planning to sabotage my diet.

Just a quick reply before my circuit class.

sol I started in August 2015 and may 2016 I was down to 10st.

Since then I have gone between 9st 6 - 11st 3lbs.

I found that I didn't need the plan just follow his recipes and only have carbs after a work out. Problem was I got comfy eating carbs again hence my problem Grin

Racheyg · 10/03/2018 12:29

1lb off. This is the slowest weight loss ever. I even did a double exercise class on Thursday.
