It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

green yes I'm flexing. I've been eating a lot of beans and pulses as they are free and 0% fat Greek yogurt and berries. I do eat most of my dailies but try to avoid dipping into my weeklies.

I've started to do fake aways so I don't feel to deprived. I have resisted cake ect as I don't want to fall at the first hurdle so to speak Grin

Congratulations Rachey, that’s a fantastic loss. I have weight watchers books that I must dig out, you have inspired me. Did you find you were hungry during the day or was it ok?

Green could you use some of your veggies to make curries, soups, tagines etc and then freeze them. That way you have loads of meals when life gets busy and you don’t have time to cook. And your week hasn’t been a total failure, small steps lead to big changes, we can’t do it all in one week.

I still haven’t weighed myself due to TOTM, but I reigned in the snacking this weekend. I tried on my goal jeans. I can’t get them over my calves 🙈 I’ll try them on again at Easter and see how I’m doing. They’re a size 14 and they used to make my legs look super long, I loved them.

I got my hair cut and dyed so I look far more presentable, I probably sound really vain but if I look in the mirror and like what I see it spurs me on to stay on track.

Today’s menu is veggie soup and then chickpea and veg spicy rice.

I also discovered a new trick. I took the kids to the cinema on Friday and where I’d normally have popcorn and snacks, I went to the Starbucks next door and got a Venti coffee and sipped it all the way through the movie. Coffee and popcorn together are not a taste sensation so I didn’t eat any of it. I’m definitely going to this the next time too.

sol as a veggie I think you would really enjoy ww now. Most beans and pulses are zero points. So I've been making home made falafels, mixed bean chilli and stuff like that which still allows me the odd bit of bread ect

I love getting my hair done, does it make you feel fab?

I haven't been so strict this week so I'm prob not gonna get a great loss on Saturday but I don't mind as I'm starting to change the way I look at food and regain some self control rather the binge and starve.

My sister joined ww and lost 6lbs in her first week. And she is a stone lighter than me, but she has made some really dramatic changes I'm very proud of her

Rachey, You have convinced me. I will start ww on Saturday so I will have be good on Friday night. That’s an amazing loss by your sister, she must be delighted.

I feel so good with my hair done. I run the ghd over it and suddenly go from ageing student to groomed professional. Grin

My diet has been hit and miss. This week has been very stressful with my DS who has ASD so I have been having a few glasses of wine in the evening with Dh, otherwise I would be in a mental institution.

I weighed in on Monday and lost 2lbs. Still 3lbs over pre Christmas weight though... 24 lbs to go.

Hoping to lose another 2 this week. I think I need to do something drastic to have more of a kick start.
Went to shops this morning, better to keep busy to avoid eating.
Bought some make up and a top in in the Jigsaw sale. Will link later.

I wish I was motivated but my eating this week has let me down. Have picked at stuff all week. Have stuck within my points but I'm not hopeful with a loss.

sol I don't blame you for having a glass or two. Ohhh I'm glad you feel great, it's been s long time since I looked in the mirror and liked what I saw.

1 1/2lb loss. I'm ok with that. Just another 18 1/2 lbs till I get to my goal of 9 stone Shock

How are you doing Sol?

I’m still struggling to get motivated. The DC have been ill and now I feel rubbish.

I’ve bought a WW pass and I’m going to the meeting on Wednesday. I’ve been trying to list some meal ideas, everything feels so disorganised at the moment.

green have you read up about flex? The good think is a lot of foods are now zero points so chicken breast, eggs etc. So what I find myself doing is snacking on boiled eggs.

Don't get me wrong I'm still struggling with my snacking which is my downfall but I'm trying to snack on the right stuff. I think I'm on a slow and steady weight loss. We can all support each other.

-pom were the scales correct yesterday or did you not bother? I'm with you on the snacking I'm finding it so hard to resist.

sol how are you doing?

I'm having a bit of a crap time at home at the moment, dcs playing up which makes oh miserable, which makes me frustrated at him. We keep snipping at each other (obvs not in front of the kids) I'm just tired of it. Also worried about money doesn't help. I just wish we could be happy. - sorry for the downer just feel that irl no one really listens or understands.

Hi Rachey, yes I’ve read up on Flex. I think eggs are going to be a big part of my diet too. I’ve been to the meeting this morning and I’m going to read the books this afternoon.

I think slow and steady is the way to go. I totally need to re-haul my whole diet. It’s been terrible for months now. I’ve loads to lose. I’m just going to focus on half a stone at a time.

Sorry you’re having a crap time. What are the DC doing? Mine have been quite out of routine since Christmas, I don’t think the bad weather helps either. We’ve been stuck in the house.
Do you know why it makes OH miserable?

DH has been annoying me since before Christmas! I’m always complaining to my parents. Feel free to moan away.

Managed my first day on the WW plan. I think I’m going to have to be more organised with cooking.

I’ve been feeling ill all week, but I’m even worse today. Hopefully that will stop me eating too much.
I’m going to sort out clothes today ( when the drugs start moving and I can be bothered to move again. The school run has made me tired)

Can I just say a free bar is dangerous and I managed to make friends with the bar staff Grin which I suspect means I was there too often Blush

Well done on your first day Green Sorry you are ill, it's harder to diet when unwell (and DC unwell). The flex plan sounds interesting.

Sorry you are feeling down Rachey Money worries are really stressful. What are DC doing?
My DH annoys me too, it's probably normal after years together and I'm sure I annoy him at times too, although on the whole he is tolerant and more laid-back than me.....

How are you Sol ?

I'm going to try and have a fast day...

and the canapés were rubbish, what a waste of calories !

Well done on your weight loss Pom, and you sound like you had a great night out. Canapés usually are crap but they look so delicious after a few drinks.

Rachey my kids are acting up too. I think they have energy to burn and we’re stuck indoors. And my DH gets so annoyed with them too, it must be a man thing. I get so cross with him. Feel free to vent.

Green, well done on starting WW. It’s hard to get the time to focus on yourself. I hope you’re feeling better soon. Have you got the flu?

It’s been busy here. Dieting has been hit and miss, I’m going to weigh myself on the last day of the month so I can see how much I’ve lost over the month.

I lost 1.5 lbs which takes my total for January to 5.5lbs which is a bit pitiful, so I am going to try harder.

Sorry I've been mia had a lot on my mind.

pom mines very slow as well, I've only lost 6 1/2 lbs. I'm really struggling with picking. Your evening out sounded fun, I alway make friends with the bar staff as well Grin

sol I think a monthly weigh in is a good idea. Do you ever watch lose weight well? I find his research into diets interesting and he once spoke about how our weight fluctuates dramatically

green how are you getting on?

Hello 👋 Do you mind if I join?
My ds is 18 months. I gained just over 3 stone whilst pregnant Shock lost 2 of them very quickly and another stone over the last 11 months by sporadically dieting and doing exercise videos before he gets up in the morning.
I'm 11,6 so 3lbs from pre pregnancy weight but would ideally like to get to 10,6. I'd love to lose between 6&8lbs over the next 8 weeks as I go on holiday for Easter.
I can't exercise as I'm recovering from an injury (can't even walk) so everything has to be diet. I'm trying to have breakfast much later and cut out snacking, hopefully that will have an effect.

Welcome Kaytee We are pretty much the same weight with the same goal :)

Hope everyone has had a good week, I managed 2 fast days (800 cals) and stayed under 1200 for the rest of the week. Hoping for a good weigh in on Monday but it's also TOM.

Rachey 6.5 lbs is good ! How are things now?

I'm like a tortoise slow and steady. Lost 1 1/2 so takes my total to 8lbs (7lbs since starting Ww in 4 weeks) off out tonight so ww is out the window

Hi everyone. Welcome Kaytee!

Congratulations on all the weight loss, slow and steady is good. I lost just under 6lbs this month. I am so bloody fat though. I’m just gigantic and can’t see where I have lost any weight. Maybe my scales are broken?

So this week and possibly next week I will be following the James Duncan plan in a bid to drop some massive pounds. I want a stone gone by the end of February. There were photos taken of me at a dinner last week and I looked awful, so fat and I had the biggest shiniest face. I definitely need to buy a better powder, I was like a disco ball Blush

I think you should all be really happy with your weight losses. We can do it this year. Think how amazing you will feel in 3 months time if you continue losing weight at a pace that suits you. Let’s keep going, let’s keep motivated, let’s do it for ourselves!
