It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

Oh no sol sounds like an awful evening. I hate ikea furniture for that same reason. Me and oh don't get on well when fixing/putting stuff together.

Glad the childminding is going well. How is ds2 is he sleeping better?

pom thanks, I'm just very disappointed with myself for putting on so much weight so close to the wedding. You sound really motivated, when do you go on holiday?

I did my spin class last night and had a feta salad I can in at around 1000 cals but I did burn over 550 during spin Grin
Couldn't sleep last night, I think the houmous gave me acid reflux Sad and I couldn't stop thinking about stuff.

I plan to do 3 x exante today I just hope my sleep deprivation doesn't lead me astray

Racheyg · 15/08/2018 19:25

Shit,

I've caved. Had 4 rice cakes with hot salsa. Going to have veggie meat balls with tomato sauce and zero pasta

Racheyg · 15/08/2018 21:20

sol have you tried these veggie balls?

They are amazing. Had them with a tomato sauce and zero pasta came in at under 200 cals. More filling than exante and same calories

I caved and ate some bad food too Rachey, aaaggghh, it's so annoying. How do you find the zero pastas and noodles? I couldn't get over the smell of them, having said that cauliflower rice isn't much better. Well done on your spin class, you must be super fit.

Thanks for the flowers Pom, I may have been being super dramatic, but I genuinely hate flatpack furniture.

Today has been a bit of a struggle. I was up very early and didn't have the time to eat until 3pm, and I haven't stopped since. I don't know what wrong with me. I plan on lying to MFP though, I can't stand the shame.

Can any of you recommend a good app for filtering photos? I took lots of great ones of the kids but in a few they have red eyes and I'd love to fix them. And also maybe sort out the mega shine on my face Blush

And DS2 is still waking up through the night. I'm hoping school might sort that out, I'm fairly sure it's wishful thinking.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/08/2018 21:31

I haven't tried them Rachey, where are they from?

OP posts:
Racheyg · 15/08/2018 22:26

sol they weren't to bad. Expensive though. I may just stick to courgettie. But a least these feel like pasta Grin

The meatballs are from Iceland I think. They do a great veggie selection get all my quorn and Linda macartney stuff from there.

I'm hopeless with pictures I always forget to take them. So I have no idea on good apps. Sorry.

I keep reading flapjack furniture GrinBlush

SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/08/2018 08:48

I must take a trip to Iceland, one opened up near us but I always forget about it as it has terrible parking. I love courgetti, I find courgettes so boring but they're a great replacement for pasta.

I could get on board with flapjack furniture, at least I could eat it when it annoyed me.

I really went mad with food last night. So I have deducted it from today's calories and now I only have 542 to do me for the whole day. I foresee me being quite hungry but that's the consequence of me being a greedy piglet. I wish I had taken some measurements as I can really see a change on the shape of my face and my stomach is definitely flatter.

OP posts:
Pomegranatepompom · 16/08/2018 18:20

Take measurements now Sol, then you'll see how far you got by next month?

Hope you've not felt too hungry.

You are very good trying different foods rachey.
Hope you are still having a good break Green.
Work been very busy- on positive side not much to eat, too busy, on negative, stress ate chocolate and been getting in too late to run !

Racheyg · 17/08/2018 17:41

Argh I'm in pizza express. God I'm never gonna be slim

Racheyg · 17/08/2018 21:51

My leather jacket has just come back in stock. Why oh why have I just paid £415.00 for bloody hair extensions SadSadSad

Greenrabbit · 18/08/2018 11:44

Just trying to catch up on your posts.

I had a nice break. It’s gave me some motivation back.

Hope work improves Pom.

Maybe you aren’t destined to get the jacket Rachey Sad. When do you get your extensions put in?

I keep meaning to look in Iceland. Ours is always so busy.

How did yesterday go Sol? You could still take measurements and maybe some photographs?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 20/08/2018 08:07

The universe is out to taunt you with that jacket Rachey. Can you suggest to your DH that if you get any money as presents that you each have an amount for spending on yourselves and then buy the jacket?

How was your holiday Green? Was the weather good?

How are you getting on Pom?

My weekend was very food based even though I was fairly active. We spent the evenings stuffing ourselves and having a few drinks. I was offered a part time job in my brothers business and he has offered to be very flexible with my hours if DS2 is going through a hard time. So I took it. I don't start for a few weeks but I can either go in to the office or work from home as they'll set up a laptop for me. I'm so happy, it'll be hard work but the flexible hours and decent pay will make things a bit easier moneywise.

I hope everyone has a good day, I'm planning to get on track again.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 20/08/2018 13:08

Ok I'm have a confession. I brought the jacket Blush I'm glad oh is very low maintenance Grin

sol sounds like a great weekend. Excellent news on the part time job.

green how was your holiday glamping? Did the dcs love it?

pom how was ur weekend? Is the pressure at work easing off? You sounded so positive and motivated diet wise despite the chocolate Grin

I had a really bad hangover yesterday so over ate and everything. Back on it today.

Greenrabbit · 20/08/2018 14:34

Good for you Rachey! I would have done the same.

DC loved glamping. The weather was okay. We managed to get out and about without getting rained on.

Congratulations on the job Sol. It will be much easier for you.

I’m struggling today. I’ve no energy and been feeling really sorry for myself (all period related). I’ve already loads of rubbish which was ridiculous as I’ve made decent food for the DC.
I’m going to try to do what Sol suggested and make one change a week. This week is no alcohol.
Going to make some nice soup for dinner and have an early night.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 20/08/2018 21:56

I'm glad you got the jacket Rachey, you know you will love it and probably wear it to death so it's an investment. You'll have to put up pics when you get it.

Your holiday sounds lovely Green, sorry to hear you're not feeling great. Could you write off today as a rest day and start again tomorrow?

I'm finished my calories for today and I'm trying to get motivated to go to bed because I'm so tired, but I'm so comfy on the sofa. I had zoodles for dinner, they were nice, proper I foresee a lack of carbs in my future if I'm going to be a size 14 by Christmas.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 21/08/2018 05:29

Woke up at 3.15 this morning with a headache, achy back and and swollen glands in my throat. I feel like death. Is it even possible to get a cold in the Summer? So I've come back to bed with a cup of coffee and two nurofen.

Is it weird that I've become slightly addicted to the Christmas section on here? It is quite possibly the cosiest place on MN. I'm not even thinking about Christmas but it's lovely to see everyone getting so excited and all their planning. If only I could be so organised.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 21/08/2018 08:15

Morning.

sol sorry to hear your not well, did you manage to get back to sleep? Christmas?!?! God I'm still trying to understand how it's August and how quick the year has gone.

I've never looked st the Christmas boards though, I should do for inspiration Grin

green 1 change a week sounds like a wise plan. I'm really struggling too. I'm really tired all the time (and hungry) what soup did you make?

pom hows things?

I can't believe I have 7 weeks till I get married.

I haven't booked my hair trial or a taxi or a hotel. I'm to worried about work to care. And you would thing I be motivated to try and lose weight before the wedding?!?

I just don't have it in me at the moment to diet.

Today
Fruit and Greek yogurt - breakfast
Aubergine dip and veg crudités- lunch
Chicken salad - dinner
Pink lady - snack
Banana - snack.

Have my spin class tonight so hope to at least burn some cals Grin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 21/08/2018 17:54

Still feeling rubbish Green, today was the longest day, I was counting the seconds for DH to come home. He is now and I'm in bed feeling very sorry for myself.

When you say you haven't booked a hotel, do you mean for your reception or just to stay in? I take it you won't have the kids on your wedding night. I was over my wedding by the time it came around to be honest, I just wanted to get married. The build up can be a wonderful time if you are in to all that, but I was just stressed and pissed off with the whole thing. I had a great day though and I loved that we had a day that was our style.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 21/08/2018 21:28

sol I hope your feeling better and catching up on some well deserved sleep. Honey and lemon is always a nice soothing drink.

Wow today went from bad to worse, I've eaten everything in site. I can't control myself.

On the plus side my jacket looks awesome. (Will send pictures) And my new dress from Zara is very pretty Grin

green and pom how are you both? X

Greenrabbit · 21/08/2018 21:51

Sorry you don’t feel well Sol. Hope you get a good rest tonight and feel better very soon.

I’m addicted to the Christmas section too! Have beeen for about 6 years (although I rarely post). I totally get the cosy feeling.

Greenrabbit · 21/08/2018 22:50

Rachey I’d love to see jacket pics. Link the dress too.

I’ll post tomorrow.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 22/08/2018 17:28

Ah Green I knew I couldn't be the only one. It's a fab section and it makes me feel very cosy.

Rachey do you think you are putting too much stress on yourself to eat well? I always self sabotage my diet right when I need to stick to it the most.

I'm feeling much better thanks. I slept like a log last night and the ache from my back is gone but I still have a sore throat. I'm also glad the insane sweating is over, that was most unladylike Blush

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 22/08/2018 21:32

It gives me that Christmas Eve feeling Sol. Like watching a Christmas film.
Christmas Day always feels too busy for me. Love the build up though.

Glad you are feeling better today.

I don’t have anything to say about dieting and I’ve ordered lots of food for bank holiday.

I agree with Sol about stress Rachey. Could you work out how many calories you need and go with that? Maybe you should eat more if you exercising? (I have no idea about all of this)

SolitudeSometimesIs · 24/08/2018 06:31

I have eaten like a horse for the last two days. I've been making loads of meals to put in the freezer and I've been having bits of them, actual meals and snacks - ridiculous! I'm out tonight for a few drinks but I will restart my diet tomorrow or Sunday (in case I have a stinking hangover). I've been filling the freezer with meals to make the back to school/back to work chaos go a little smoother and I've been doing some decluttering and scrubbing the house. I did the job I hate the most yesterday, I pulled out the couches and cleaned under them. I haven't done it in about a month, it was grim, I will never buy a sofa with an inch gap underneath it again.

I bought 3 Christmas presents yesterday in a fit of bargain hunting - a kindle fire tablet, a kindle paperwhite and a Haribo advent calendar for lactose intolerant DS2. I saved over 100 Euro thanks to the bargains on Amazon. I hope Brexit doesn't screw up my Christmas shopping next year, I have no time for streeling around the shops and I've been known to do my shopping on my phone sitting in traffic.

I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday this weekend. It's not one in Ireland so I'm very jealous of you all.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 24/08/2018 09:50

Read your post earlier Sol and you motivated me to get on with some tidying before DC got up.
The place is a disgusting mess. It will take most of September to put it right.Blush. I’m going to gather up all of the stuff that I’ve been trying to declutter and drop it off in the next week.
Going to make a list of things that I need to tackle (rather than looking and it and wandering off!)

I also have one of those sofas. Plus the cushions aren’t fixed in place and it seems to swallow all kinds of things.

Well done on the cooking. You have to taste what you make so I feel you are justified in eating some.
I finally made the soup that I was going to make on Monday. I think I’ll do some every week and just have a repetitive choice for my own breakfasts and lunches. I often plan to have something interesting and don’t get round to making it on the day. Batch cooking/prepping is going to be the way forward.

I bought a few Christmas gifts yesterday. I’d promised the DC Smiggle gym bags and wanted to get free postage so I added in some stocking filler bits.
I do plan to be very strict with my buying this year. I love reading the Christmas bargain threads but sometimes go overboard buying little bits and pieces that just lie around for ages.
