It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

You're never a fraud Green, how goes the decluttering?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 08/08/2018 23:00

I’d stalled for a couple of weeks Sol. Managed to get rid of 3 bags this week.
I’ve sorted more to donate today. Hoping to drop them off next week.

Racheyg · 09/08/2018 14:52

Well done green sounds like your making good progress with the de cluttering.

You are not a fraud, we are here to support each other through ups and downs.

sol I'm not sure if I heard your card or mine? I so have to stop spending. Can you share your quorn curry recipe I'm always on the hunt for new veggie things for oh.

pom how are you doing?

I'm gutted my hair isn't long enough for microring extension because of my layers. I have to either get a weave or tape extensions.

I did my spin class today. Struggled with energy though. I think I only burnt 510 cals.

I weighed myself aswell. 10st 10lb I'm gutted would have thought 4 days of my exante and 2 spin classes would help. I think I might have put more weight on over the weekend?

Racheyg · 09/08/2018 19:44

Today didn't go to pLan. Due to the rain we stayed in and I ate. I'm gutted Monday - Wednesday it's easy. I'm at work but when I'm home it's so hard.

Breakfast - shake
Lunch - carbonara
Dinner - feta salad with beetroot dip and flat bread.

Greenrabbit · 09/08/2018 19:50

Thanks Rachey. I’m going to have a serous think about diet/exercise when I’m away at the weekend.
Still got loads of decluttering to do. I need to get into the habit of doing it every month.

That’s a shame about the extensions. I’d heard the ring type are the best. Why do the layers affect it?

Well done on your spin class and Exante. The weight probably is just because of the weekend. It is disheartening when you are trying so hard.

How has today gone for you Sol?

Are you okay Pom?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 09/08/2018 22:01

Evening all.

Are you off somewhere lovely for the weekend Green? Don't put too much pressure on yourself with your diet. Could you try making one change per week and sticking to it? My one for next week is not to eat after 8pm. You inspired me with your decluttering and I put up a message on Facebook with all the toys I wanted rid of and gave away loads to my friends. So lots of happy kids and I have 3 empty Kallax boxes to fill with stuff that was lying around the house.

Rachey what time of the day are you weighing yourself? Could that be impacting the scales reading? And you need to check it's weighing properly with something that you know is a certain weight like a bag if sugar.

My cauliflower curry was so lazy, 200g of quorn, onion, mushroom, loads of cauliflower.
Heat the quorn with a drop of hot oil in a pan until it's half cooked, throw in the veg, add Mayflower curry powder and water and simmer until cooked.
I usually make my own curry sauce with spices and tomatoes when I'm using chickpeas and stuff, but it's the combo of cauliflower and Mayflower sauce is so tasty as it doesn't get too soggy and tastes like a takeaway curry.
I had it with cauliflower rice as I'm low carbing.

Today went well calorie wise. I'm being fairly ruthless about putting everything in MFP, although DH asked was I still tracking everything on the My Little Pony app 😂😂

How are you getting on Pom?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 10/08/2018 08:41

We are off to Yorkshire for the weekend.

That’s a good decluttering result Sol. We are having real problems with toys. I’m going to do them when they are back at school.
I have cleared some Kallax boxes too. That makes things easier.

The curry sounds nice. The Mayflower stuff is handy. We buy similar from the Chinese supermarket and use it when we feel lazy.

I think dieting is difficult when you at home Rachey. I think that’s my main problem. Much easier when you’ve prepared something and took it to work. Your dinner sounds delicious though.

I could try the one change a week Sol.
I’m going to take a notebox away and write some ideas down.
I think it’s mostly physiological so I’m going to read up on that.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 10/08/2018 15:32

Have a fantastic time Green, try not to stress too much about your diet, just enjoy the time away.

The changing one thing a week habit has been good for me, it seems less intense that way. Sorry to hear you're struggling, maybe writing it all out will help you get your head straight. Its very hard to diet when you aren't psyched up for it.

Well, I weighed in today. I've put on half a pound. I've no idea why, clearly my body is being uncooperative, I was so cross but sticking to plan today.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 10/08/2018 21:32

I think I’ll try that Sol.

Sorry about your (tiny) gain. Are you on Facebook? If you are have a look at Team RH fitness. I’ve been looking at their videos and it all makes a lot of sense.

Greenrabbit · 10/08/2018 21:34

Hope that gain comment doesn’t sound sarky.. I just meant it’s so small so don’t worry. You are doing so well. I need to get back into using the MLP app Grin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 10/08/2018 22:39

Don't worry Green, it didn't sound sarky at all. I've been calling it My Fatness Pal all day because of the half a pound Grin

I am on Facebook, I'll take a look at that page. I could do with some guidance. I'm still 254 calories under my target today and I am stuffed, I can't eat anything else, it turns out being hungry between meals isn't so bad, I'd just forgotten what it felt like.

I'm not going to weigh myself for another while. I don't think it's doing me any good. I can see that my stomach is flatter due to not having as many carbs and my face has thinned down a bit.

It's a bit of a head melter isn't it.

OP posts:
Pomegranatepompom · 11/08/2018 13:00

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Think not weighing is a good idea.
I won't be dieting at end Aug as we are away. But when I'm back, I'm planning to lose a stone (plus anything gained) before Christmas.

It's such a hard slog. I'm sure we can do it though.
New start September? Apart from I can't really start until 2 week- due to social stuff.

Back later.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 11/08/2018 20:26

Hi Pom, I hope you're off on a nice holiday. New start September sounds good to me. Have you a diet in mind for the new start?

I have had the worst headache all day today that is finally starting to lift, I am so over this heavy weather. I need cool days and fresh breeze.

OP posts:
Pomegranatepompom · 13/08/2018 06:32

Hope your headache improved Sol.

I'll probably stick with fasting/ trying to low carb.
Weight was 10.13 this morning. Took me a whole week to lose what I gained on 24 hours !

How was your weekend away Green? Did uo go to Betty's?

How are you Rachey?

Hope everyone has a good day. I also really poorly, feel shattered, it's going to be a hard and long diet day. Work is horrendously busy. I'll also need to address some general performance issues in September (not mine !) - joy !

Pomegranatepompom · 13/08/2018 06:33

I think your cool breeze wish was granted Sol. What a relief for us all !

SolitudeSometimesIs · 13/08/2018 09:26

A week to lose what you gained in 24 hours sounds about right for me too Pom. It's infuriating isn't it? Maybe if you're not feeling well you should try and have some foods that are full of nutrition and will make you feel better. Adding a day of intense dieting on top of a stress filled, hectic day might just make you feel worse. Do you feel like addressing the work performance issues are hanging over you? I remember that ache in the put of my stomach when I had stuff like that hanging over me.

MFP is at me to weigh in but I don't want to. I can see that my stomach has changed shape and my waist is starting to reappear, but if I find out I haven't lost weight I'll be gutted. So, in true grown up style I'm going to lie to MFP and pretend I've weighed in Grin.

I hope everyone has a good day and I hope your day improves Pom.

OP posts:
Pomegranatepompom · 13/08/2018 09:29

Not poorly - just tired, not sure where the poorly cane from !

I think lying on mfp is totally fine !!

Racheyg · 13/08/2018 10:05

Morning all,
I've had such a carb and booze heavy weekend. I'm feeling so bloated and slugggish.

pom 10st 13lb is amazing. What's your goal? Low carbing and fasting sounds like it really works for you. Any tips? I seem to be putting on weight at a rapid speed Grin

Where are you off on holiday? Hope you feel better.

sol how are you, it's a lot cooler in London but the central line is still muggy as hell Sad

green are you having a great time away?

Went to Folkestone for the weekend. Made me really consider moving away from London. The pulled jack fruit was amazing, and my friend that is vegan has given me some great ideas with the yeast/protein flakes so I'm going to start getting creative.

Have another big night out planned on Saturday. I'm never going to lose weight. Sad

Pomegranatepompom · 13/08/2018 22:26

Day as predicted was very stressful. Will need to try and switch off my my leave.
Definitely. need to address the work issue Sol it can't go on. I'm at the end of a very long tether. Job very stressful anyway, but colleague making things +++ worse.
How are you finding the childminding? In awe that you can diet and look after so many children and keep them entertained.

You are having such a lovely time rachey I think you should enjoy all the social things. Your dress is amazing. Moving out of London could be a life goal????

Think my ideal weight is about another stone off.

Hope you both had great days.
Hope green is having a lovely break.

Racheyg · 14/08/2018 08:13

Morning all,

pom oh I feel for your, it's awful when a work situation effects your happiness. When are you off on holiday?

sol I'm loving the lying to mfp Grin

green hope your having a great time.

Feeling pretty down at the moment, work busy feel unsupported and kids misbehaving. I just want to cry sometimes. I'm upset that I've put a stone on over the summer. Things just don't seem great at the moment. I should be excited about getting married? At the moment I'm just seeing it as a money pit. I don't even have a honeymoon to look forward to.

  • god I'm so sorry guys. I'm just not feeling myself today.
Pomegranatepompom · 14/08/2018 08:16

Oh no rachey - what can be done to make you feel better? Run ups to weddings are always stressful.

You look fab, so don't worry about your weight.
Think all the children aren't doing too well out of routine ? Back to school soon ish !

SolitudeSometimesIs · 14/08/2018 14:06

Sorry to hear work is so stressful Pom, it must be exhausting putting up with a college who won't put all their effort in. It was a bit like that in my last job and I found it really hard to act professionally when I dreamed of kicking his chair out from underneath him.

Sorry to hear you're stressed too Rachey, are the kids just acting up because they're out of routine in the Summer? Weddings are so stressful and are a huge money pit, but it will be worth it. Can you plan a weekend away for you and your DP for after the wedding? Our honeymoon was about 6 months after our wedding.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 14/08/2018 14:11

The childminding is going well, I'm really tired but I'm loving organising the activities for the kids and getting to hang out with them. We spent the morning making masks and doing art.

The dieting is going OK. It's a bit boring and I've fallen in to the trap of eating the same meals on rotation, so I need to break that. I lied to MFP, I'm probably going to do it again as it keeps on at me because I'm not eating all my calories every day.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 15/08/2018 06:48

It was all going so well yesterday, until evening time where I decided to try and put together a flatpack table from Ikea. There was wine, there were crisps, there was an argument carried out in hushed tones between me and DH when it turns out I'd used the wrong screws in the wrong part, there was the inevitable "I'm throwing this piece of shit table on the fire" rage and now I've woken up feeling super fat and annoyed at myself for going over my calories. If only anger burned calories.

I hope everyone had a good day and stays away from flatpack furniture!

OP posts:
Pomegranatepompom · 15/08/2018 07:14

I think anger does burn extra calories, so you'll be fine Flowers
