It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

Was there loads of junk and bits of cereal under your sofa too - and so much Lego? I hate doing it. I have a new mantra, 5 mins per day or 25 at the weekend. So I spend 5 mins every day going the bathroom instead of having to scrub it at the weekend. And 5 mins mopping the kitchen floor every day as opposed to having to do a big job on it at the weekend when it's rank. It has served me well. My house is less of a state and I don't panic if someone wants to come over.

What Christmas presents did you get? Smuggle isn't a big thing for my kids thankfully. And what soup did you make? I'm always on the hunt for new soup recipes.

The bargain thread is fab. But I have to control myself, I could buy so much stuff.

Soup www.bbc.com/food/recipes/goodvegetablesoup_73412

I’ll try to think of some others later.

Yes, the sofa was full of rubbish. Made the children sweep all of it out and then let them use the Dyson under the cushions!

I need to get back into a routine.
It’s really getting me down but I need to focus on sorting it rather than moping around.

Just bought some scented pens and novelty type rubbers/sharpeners. Oh and a little note writing set each. It has pretty paper and envelopes.
There was a discount and free postage over a certain spend. The shop rarely offers the % discounts and the DC want everything they see. It’s overpriced rubbish really.
I think I will order them a Squishy each (cheap on EBay) and then that’s stockings done apart from a few sweets.

This is lovely. You could leave out the chorizo and add smoked paprika instead.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 24/08/2018 14:34

Those soups look gorgeous. It's lashing rain and so cold here, it was only 4 degrees when I woke up this morning. I'm lying under a blanket on the sofa with the kids watching movies, total lazy day.

Excuse me while I waddle in..........

I have been eating and drinking constantly but I have a plan. On Wednesday (I have my wedding tasting on Tuesday) I'm doing jd to the book just to get rid of this bloat. Ill do 1 week on 1 week off till the wedding. I'll be happy with a 5-7lb loss.

I can't lose too much as my dress won't fit. Felt god yesterday putting it back on. I'm still undecided on whether I wear a sparkly belt or not? And what shoes? They aren't visible so I may just wear my heeled dm's instead of the strappy sandals at least they are comfy.

Hope your all having a great weekend xx

Racheyg · 26/08/2018 14:33

Belt or no belt?

You look fantastic Rachey.
I like the belt. I think it defines your waist and it’s quite subtle. Just wear whatever shoes are most comfortable, I love the idea of DMs.

JD plan sounds like a good idea. How many weeks to go now?
Have a great weekend x

Greenrabbit · 26/08/2018 19:39

Also you don’t look bloated at all, just beautiful and happy.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 26/08/2018 23:59

You look gorgeous Rachey. I would go with the belt, it draws the eye and makes your waist look tiny. I always thought if I wore a wedding dress like that I would put a studded belt on for the evening, just make it a bit more me. God knows how that would look now as my waist is bigger than my boobs.

I've had a very carb heavy weekend due to my hangover from Friday night. I had a great night but all I have wanted is salty, carby food. Back on plan tomorrow to undo the damage, The kids are back at school this week so I'll be glad of a routine.

How are you getting on Green?

How are you Pom?

Morning.

I've been up half the night due to stress, DS2 starts his ASD school this week and I am a ball of worry. I literally could not sleep because my mind was in over drive about how he is going to cope and how we are going to support him.

But instead of lying in bed and waking DH with my tossing and turning, I went downstairs and cleaned my house, did all my laundry and I've cooked 2 weeks worth of healthy dinners to keep me on track and a load of meals for DH and the kids so the pressure is off us having to cook, we can just be with DS2. Lasagne anyone? Grin

So it's 4 months until Christmas and I am determined to be skinnier. Having survived on carbs all weekend I plan to ditch them (unless battling a hangover) and with my freezer about to be stocked with easy dinners I have no excuse. The only thing standing in my way is my incredible ability to self sabotage. This is the first day of getting my shit together again!

Had a great day today but I am so happy I did all the housework this morning, I'm wrecked but my house looks decent.

I stuck to plan all day today and plan to head to bed once the kids are in bed, DH is off at football. I also bought DS1's Christmas present today, which is ridiculous, but it was reduced from €99 to €30. I just have to remember where I hide it once I stash it.

When does he start Sol? I’m not surprised that you are stressing about it. I hope it goes as well as it can and you all settle into a new routine soon.

Well done on all the cooking and cleaning though. I need that sort of energy.

I hide and lose presents too. I’ve also lost a pack of school shirts, they been missing since Easter so I’ve replaced them Grin.

You sound so determined about your diet and so organised.
I’m being pathetic about mine. I could moan and feel sorry for myself all day (I won’t). I’ll start again today and just try not to stuff everything in my mouth.
I’m considering trying to do extane for 3 weeks just to get a start on things and maybe improve my confidence. But the downside is that I’ve struggled to get into it the last few times I’ve tried.
I have a box of the stuff and I know it would work if I did it properly.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 28/08/2018 21:44

He starts Thursday Green, it's been such a long road to get him here and now it's all coming together. I've been wrecked all day, my energy has deserted me.

Good luck with Exante, would you even do just a week to start? I found it so hard to do too, probably because I need an event like a wedding to keep me on track. Those shirts will turn up when you're moving your kids off to college, it's always the way Grin

I ate on plan all day today, it was really hard though as I was starving.

How are you getting on with changing one thing in your diet per week. I'm still not drinking during the week and I have cut back massively on carbs.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 29/08/2018 08:29

sol is ds2 looking forward to it? I'm sure he will surprise you and settle in well?! schools have excellent support facilities, is there a settling in period?

You sound so focused, I'm in envy. All your food prep sounds amazing.

green would exante be easier now it's colder? As less likely to go out, ect?

pom how are you getting on? You sounded very positive last week and your weight was amazing?! How's work going?

Had a very food and booze based weekend and yesterday we had our food and wine tasting for the wedding. We should have brought back up to help eat and drink. Felt sick and awful afterwards as I ate too much. On the plus side the food was delish.

I'm freaking out about all the stuff I have on at work. I'm so annoyed at my boss for insisting on another conference and dinner, this all happens 1 month after my wedding.

I'm starting jd today. I have a few social things coming up but I have to be strong. I ideally want to lose the stone I've put on over the summer, but I'm not stressing myself.

Greenrabbit · 29/08/2018 20:24

Sol I hope it all goes well tomorrow. You will be tired with all the stress. Does DS1 go back this week too?

Not getting on too well with the diet. The aim this week is to eat more vegetables and fruit. I managed to break a tooth yesterday so that upset me and I ate lots of carbs and then had wine.
Did slightly better today. Still debating the Exante. I know that I actually need to eat properly and exercise. If I do this consistently it will work, but the lure of a quick fix is always tempting.

Do you have to organise the conference and dinner Rachey? Didn’t you have to do that recently? Sounds very stressful, especially while trying to sort the wedding.
Pleased the food was great. I always think it makes the day even better if there is plenty of nice food. I hadn’t really thought about it until we were at a wedding were the food was poor and in short supply. Everyone had to get room service when we got back to our hotel!
Good luck with the JD.

Racheyg · 29/08/2018 22:12

We had 4 bottles of wine and 4 meals. Needless to say we didn't manage it all.

I'm so happy with our choices. I now need to decide what burger as they were all so delish Grin

Wine we have gone for house then on top table the Malbec and savingion blanc (both most expensive but I don't want to wince every time I take a sip/gulp)

green yes your correct, I did organise it last year. I was under the impression that it will be every two years. Not again this year.
Sorry to hear about your tooth? Can it be fixed with a filling or does it need a crown?

Looks delicious. Those are my favourite wines too.

That’s a pain about work.

Not sure about the tooth as I can’t get an appointment until next Friday. It’s the lower back molar. It is already filled but part of the side has came off(I think it was enamel that’s broke away, not filling). Wouldn’t be surprised if it needs a crown. So annoying. I’m lucky that it’s an NHS dentist but the opening hours are terrible.

Greenrabbit · 29/08/2018 22:30

Ha, just looked at the wine picture. Excellent weekend.

Racheyg · 31/08/2018 09:27

The scales are not my friend.........why the hell did I just weigh myself????

SolitudeSometimesIs · 01/09/2018 14:16

Hi.

Rachey that table of food looks gorgeous, I'm starving now. Good choices on the wine too. How is JD going? That's annoying that your boss is being a pain, does he not think you have enough going on at the moment. Is there anyone else who could help you organise it?

Sorry to hear about your tooth Green, it sounds really uncomfortable. Do you have to pay for an NHS dentist? Getting dental work done here is very, very expensive. I need a root canal but it's 1200 Euro. Maybe try Exante for two meals a day or something? That way you use it up and get to have a healthy dinner, it mightnt give you a big drop in weight but it's worth a try.

I have lost just over 5lbs this week due to stress. I have barely slept and have stuck to MFP of 1200 calories. DS2 had a great time in school and is settling in well, it's me who is a gibbering wreck. I had planned to drop him off on Friday morning and do a big lap of the park beside the school, but I met a friend for coffee instead. Having a load of meals ready to eat has been a Godsend. I don't even have to think of what we should it, I just grab a tray and bang it in the oven.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 01/09/2018 16:31

sol jd has gone to pot today. Had a birthday party and have eaten all the food under the sun. I'm angry at myself.

I'm so glad ds2 has settled in well, and well done on your 5lb loss it's a shame it's through stress is there anything you can do to de stress?

green are you having pain from the tooth?

Next week I'm back on my exercise properly and will really focus on my diet (as I say every week)

SolitudeSometimesIs · 01/09/2018 17:51

It's good to be consistent though Rachey Grin It's impossible to go to a party and not eat, party food is the best. Did you have a good time?

I'm a terrible worrier, I stress about everything but this is the first time I have ever lost weight, I think it's having MFP that's keeping me on track. I will be happier once everyone is settled and we are in a better routine.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 01/09/2018 18:39

Haha I know sol my mantra is "I'll start again on Monday"

I did, l love a buffet Grin

That's great mfp is really working for you.

X

SolitudeSometimesIs · 02/09/2018 16:21

I'm trying to reign in my calories. We had some chips and dip last night, it was gorgeous but it was well over my limit. Desperately trying not to have wine with my dinner too.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 02/09/2018 17:35

sol. I love chips and dip. Have you guys had a good weekend?

I have had a really bad eating weekend. I'll do exante tomorrow.

I'm just watching jamanji with popcorn and pretzels Grin
