It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

Yesterday went shite Green, no point in sugar coating it. I had a great day up until I had a glass of wine and then snacks found there way in to my grubby mitts and I probably ate about 700 extra calories.

Today is better, I'm hungry but sticking to plan and logging everything. I plan to come in 100 cals under my limit for the next week to undo the damage ( the delicious, delicious damage 😂)

How are you all getting on?

Rachey you look lovely, your wedding dress is lovely, you will look beautiful. Enjoy this time.

How are you Green ?

My fitness pal sounds good Sol I think I downloaded it once but wasn't goos at inputting.

I've been pretty good, sticking to 2 meals a day. We're away Saturday night though, hopefully won't do too mcc damage.

Pomegranatepompom · 03/08/2018 07:37

I have never been to Bettys, I'd like to go Green Have a lovely time in Yorkshire. I haven't been since I was a small child,, when we used to visit relatives.

Hope your parent is improving Sol Make sure you order the skirt, it's lovely.

I'll link my recent purchase later (a maxi from Monsoon, blouse & skirt from Jigsaw, I'm not as adventurous style use as you ladies I don't think.

The heat and school holidays mean I am finding it harder to run 3 x weekly. Also DD has been having meltdowns which are a complete joy. normal for 5??
We're off to the cinema today - if they can agree on a film.

Greenrabbit · 03/08/2018 10:15

I think I prefer Yorkshire to the Lakes now Pom. We are glamping on a lovely estate. I can highly recommend it!
Have a great night away.

DD2 has had a couple of meltdowns in the last month. I think it’s just been a combination of heat/long school term/Birthday/free time.
It’s kind of a shock when they haven’t had one for awhile. She seems to have calmed down again now.

We’ve had a really lazy week. I feel quite guilty because we should be out going to amazing places. But they are quite happy popping out to the local park and playing with all of their toys at home.
I had planned on going somewhere exciting today but it’s throwing it down.

The 5:2 just hasn’t happened so far. Trying just to eat sensibly.

Wine and snacks are my ultimate downfall Sol. It’s became quite a habit as I have no social life and only drink in the house Blush.

I’m not having any alcohol until next weekend and after that I’m going to try to quit altogether.

How is everything else going? Are you still childminding during the school holiday?

How are you Rachey?

SolitudeSometimesIs · 03/08/2018 13:47

That sounds like a lovely holiday Green, and your lazy week is exactly what kids need every now and again, it recharges their batteries. I'm currently reducing my evening wine drinking too, it had really crept up on me. I do little things for me instead, paint my nails, hair masks, sort out my eyebrows and use all my lotions and potions that I've spent a small fortune on. It's really been hard though, I love a glass of wine in the evening.

Pom My DS1 would have the odd meltdown at 5, he seemed to be filled with rage he couldn't express verbally and would go bananas. Thankfully it has passed but I did talk to him a lot about how to express himself and how I wanted to hear what he had to say but he had to find an appropriate way of getting his point across - it took a while. Would your DD talk about her feelings after a meltdown?

I'm childminding for the Summer, it's been great. I have one set of 4 kids for two days, another 3 kids for two days and then I keep every Monday free for me and the kids to hangout. They're all kids from DS1's class for two days and then my friends kids the other two days, my kids are loving having everyone over. It's very busy but the weather has been amazing so they're out playing most of the day. I've even had requests for October midterm.

I just ate a feckin takeaway.

Pomegranatepompom · 04/08/2018 12:12

Just consider it a night off Sol. Back to it today ?

Back later.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 05/08/2018 08:26

I worked it all out and was only 27 calories over my daily limit. I only ate half of it so there was some damage limitation. I am addicted to putting in my food and I avoid things now as they'll blow my calorie budget.

How's everyone getting on this weekend? Is it a bank holiday in England? It is here and we are having a great time, I've been to two BBQ's but I brought along all my own food and didn't drink. I'm still trying not to drink as much, but the warm weather makes it hard.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 05/08/2018 22:36

Over my calories by 6 today, but I had a really active day and ate a whole heap of junk food. I love MFP, it's like having a Weight Watchers leader in my pocket that puts the fear of God in to me. I haven't weighed myself recently, but I will tomorrow morning.

I hope.youre all having a great weekend.

Racheyg · 06/08/2018 09:25

Morning all,

Sorry for the radio silence, have had a busy week/end. It was my birthday on Saturday so ate and drank as much as I pleased.

Today I'm starting fresh, finishing off exante so doing that mon- Thursday then trying to be healthy fri-sun will do this till exante runs out then do 5:2. Need something like a good kick up the arse Grin

sol I'm so glad you like mfp I have been using it on a off for 5 years. What take away did you have, it's great that you still kept roughly within your daily allowance.

I'm so happy that the childminding is working out.this is my first year juggling the summer break from school I wish I knew someone like you in my area that offered a similar service.

That leopard print skirt is amazing I've worn it with just plain t shirts from H&M and lots of jewlery and espadrilles have had lots of compliments.

pom please send over your new purchases. I love a good nosey what everyone else wears.

Did you go to the cinema? Dcs can't manage anything past 1 1/2 hrs so makes it tough as most films are 2hrs now.

I feel your pain my ds2 is 3 and he has turned into a monster. I miss my baby

green when are you away? Glamping sounds great Smilewhere are you going?

I have brought myself hair extensions for my birthday Blush it's so expensive but I want to
Look awesome on my wedding day and my hair is a huge let down. It's so flat and boring. The colour is ok although haven't dyed it in 18 months, but it's so boring it just sits on my head.

Racheyg · 06/08/2018 21:43

Evening all,

God it's too hot for ironing.

Today went well didn't pick or snack and stuck to pLan.
Breakfast - shake
Lunch - pasta carbonara
Dinner - ham, mushroom and pasta soup

I also had 2 black coffees and 1 can of Diet Coke.

Pomegranatepompom · 07/08/2018 06:51

I had the weekend off, fasted yesterday but have still put on 4lbs. I didn't even have loads. I'm so fed up.

Well done with your calories Sol. Also great news about the childminding. Totally in awe of you, I find it hard enough to entertain my two let alone others.

Hair extensions sound interesting rachey. Have you tried a babyliss big hair, good for adding volume.

Enjoy your glamping Green. Sounds really lovely.

Pomegranatepompom · 07/08/2018 06:52

Also have you got ghd's! You could try and do that curl thing?

Sorry if I've missed anything, I'm down in the dumps !!

Racheyg · 07/08/2018 08:15

Hey pom it's not like you to be so down. Sorry about the gain, I can totally understand where your coming from. Feel free to vent, bitch and moan about it here. Could it be water retention? I'm sure I'm swelling up in this heat.

I do have a babyliss big hair and ghd, I'm hopeless with both. Thank god I have boys and don't have to do their hair each morning Grin

I'm off to a indie disco night in a few weeks, what the hell do they wear to these things now days?

Day two of exante and I've woke up starving.
Breakfast - chocolate shake
Lunch - pasta carbonara
Dinner - Indian rice (I don't like it but I have 10 packs of the bloody stuff)

Spinning tonight. (Hopefully)

SolitudeSometimesIs · 07/08/2018 13:48

Good luck with the Exante Rachey, it's a tough slog. DH gets paid today and I'm getting that skirt. What length hair extensions did you get? Did they take ages to get fitted? What style are you doing your hair for your wedding day? I had a Chinese takeaway, it was gorgeous. I just logged it all and started again the next day.

Is everything OK Pom? That's really frustrating about the 4lbs, could it be period related, or are you retaining water because it's so hot? Try not to let it drag you down and maybe weigh again in a few days.

We had a very busy weekend and I was over by 150 calories yesterday, but I'm back on it today. I haven't weighed myself I'm afraid I'll be annoyed that I haven't lost 14lbs in a week. I need to just stick to plan and trust that it will work. I have a few social bits coming up in two weeks, I'd like to be 7lbs down by then.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 07/08/2018 17:28

sol I haven't had them fitted yet. I'm having the colour match on Thursday and fitted in a few weeks. I'm nervous that the will look like rats tails Blush and I will struggle to style them. I hope to have a fish tail type braid but I'm yet to find a hairdresser.

Oh I love a good Chinese- god I'm so hungry.

I'm glad mfp is working for you. It's a great motivator.

Day two nearly finished, I'm really tired today so not sure will make spinning. I hope so.

Racheyg · 07/08/2018 21:05

Spinning completed burnt 536 cals. Really struggled though.

I have just ordered more exante. I'm really going to try and do 3 or 4 days a week on this at least until the wedding.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 07/08/2018 22:28

Fair play to you for going to the spin class Rachey, you must be exhausted after all of that exercise on top of Exante. If you go to a good stylist your extensions should look great, how long are they going to be? Could the person who is fitting your extensions recommend someone to style them?

I'm finishing 98 cals under target today, I'm trying to make amends for yesterday.

Well I've been up half the night with DS2 - who is sitting beside me in bed singing Christmas songs - and I have come to the decision that I'm going to try and stick to 1200 calories until Saturday. My plan is 1200 calories during the week and 1410 at the weekend. I need to be able to feel I can eat a bit of crap food on a Saturday night, it gets me through the week. And yes it is rewarding myself with food bit some habits are really hard to break.

I've been doing yoga classes on YouTube for the last few weeks and even though I see absolutely no difference it makes me feel better so I'll keep that up. Maybe as I lose weight I'll suddenly become super toned Grin

I also am trying to break my habit of having a glass of wine in the evening. I didn't have any last night and have instead bought gin and slimline tonic in the weekly shop, I love gin but can only really drink one. So that will be there for the weekend when I will be allowing myself to have some. It really is a tough cycle to break

Sorry, I know this is long and rambly, but it helps me get my thoughts in order. I need to make some big changes for my health as well as the fact that I'm getting older and the weight is harder to lose and is impacting on my body more.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 08/08/2018 08:27

sol oh no, did you have much planned with the kids today? If it's nice weather could the go play outside with water ect, so you can relax a little?

Don't feel bad about rewarding yourself, we all need to do it. I do it.

There is a similar leopard print wrap skirt on ASOS for £28.00 which has just come back in stock, I'm tempted to buy it although I have spent a huge chunk of my birthday money already. (Ok nearly all)

Oh yoga, do you do it outside? I did my first Pilates class on Friday, I really struggled I'm not supple at all. Have you noticed a difference in flexibility?

Well done on finishing under target.

Day 3 of exante.
Breakfast - vanilla shake with coffee (I have to have a shot of coffee)
Lunch - carbonara
Dinner - Indian rice or soup

Will drink my usual 2l of water, black coffee and a Diet Coke

Will try to do exante tomorrow then have Friday, Saturday and Sunday off. I'm going to Folkestone on Saturday and the friends are vegan. I'm going to do bbq pulled jackfruit in tortilla wraps with red cabbage and kale slaw and sweet potato fries.

Friend owns a vegan cafe so will also eat there. I'm desperate to try their seitan burgers they look delish.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 08/08/2018 10:45

Your menu for the weekend sounds amazing Rachey, I don't think I've ever had jackfruit. How do the sizes come up in the skirt you got? I have a 14 and a 16 in my shopping basket but can't work out if the sizing is accurate, some shops I'm a 16 now and then others I'm an 18.

I have 4 kids here today so need to do a few activities with them, and it's pouring rain here (on top of my washing Shock), I might do a movie afternoon though. We've just made two types of shortbread, one cinnamon, one vanilla, my house smells amazing. The Irish Summer is officially over and we are in to Autumn, roll on big woolen jumpers to hide my fat!

OP posts:
Racheyg · 08/08/2018 17:06

Sorry sol just had a chance to check Mumsnet. The skirt I got is small to medium and I would say fits 6-10 due to the way it's designed. Obv if a 6 it wraps all the way round Grin

Racheyg · 08/08/2018 17:23

I reckon a 14-16 would do, as you can wrap it right or a little lose so you expose a bit of leg Grin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 08/08/2018 18:35

Thanks Rachey, if you listen you will hear the sound of my debit card exploding Grin

First day on 1200, I had quorn and cauliflower curry for dinner, it was bloody lovely. I have 120 cals left for a snack later. I had other food too, but the niceness of the curry surprised me.

How are you getting on Pom and Green?

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 08/08/2018 19:43

As usual the diet just isn’t happening. I feel like a fraud turning up on these threads.

I’m enjoying all your posts though. Grin
