Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

Oh and my Basic Metabolic Rate intake thingy is 1650 Cals per day when I'm not exercising.

I HAVE to finish what I started!!

HidingFromDD · 12/09/2017 06:49

Can I join? Started the year at 13st 2, and at only 5' 3" that put my BMI in the ' obese' category. Was doing a lot more exercise but only lost a few pounds until July. Then lost 13st when xP buggered off with someone else.
I've been doing 5:2 since then, and am now 11st 13, losing 1 - 2 lb a week. As I'm 54 and post menopause, my TDE is only around 1500-1600 so need to reduce to 1200 daily to lose weight. Have significantly increased my exercise this week (3 x bikram plus 2 swims) and for the first week have stayed exactly the same Sad. Feeling a lot better for it though

lampert · 12/09/2017 06:59

I didn't eat til dinner yesterday and I ate too much so it wasn't a good start to the week.

I had a homemade burger (no bun) with cheese and bacon and served with salad and courgette fries (but I accidentally snaffled some of DH's sweet potato fries, doh!

Today I'm going to try and drink more water.

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 12/09/2017 07:06

Hello hello - Firefly I remember you from last years thread (I was TheresalwaysTimeForTea).

Can I join please. I have been slowly trying to cut the carbs out over the last few weeks and managed to drop 5lbs - hooray! But I am still in dire need of losing about three stone. A stone by Christmas would be awesome.

Katenka · 12/09/2017 07:09

Oh and as if by magic, AF has indeed appeared. I dont get weighed until thursday and usually start losing bloating from first day of AF. So better today than thursday.

Kikibanana86 · 12/09/2017 07:17

I'd like to join please!

I've cut out all fast food, bread, chocolate and sweets, their my downfall so I know that's a good start for me, this is how I lost weight before, I used to be 16 stone 7 and when I left my husband I went down to 12 stone 7 in about 6 months, but since January I've become a bit of a party animal 😂And it's caught up with me and the other day I was 15stone!!!

Started a relationship with a gorgeous man who is very into fitness (bodybuilder) and he seems to like the way I look, I do seem to carry weight quite well and I don't think people would believe in a 15 stoner😂 But I'm getting to the point where I feel uncomfortable so a stone before xmas would be a good goal for me x

eyeneedacoolnickname · 12/09/2017 07:23

Just the thread i have been looking for! Please may I join? I have lost 2 stone in the last year and would love to lose another 2, so a stone off by Christmas would be a great start. I plan on using MFP and exercise, running/ HIIT I think.

I am 5,6 and weigh 13.11, will weigh in on a Saturday morning.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 12/09/2017 07:51

TODAY IS GOING TO BE A GOOD DAY!

I am going to eat well. I want to lose a pound. I want to lose a pound more than I want to eat crap.

FireflyGirl · 12/09/2017 09:40

Hello to Sage, Hiding, Hopefully (I remember you from last year, too Grin), Kiki and eyeneed.

Well done on a good first day, Penguin

Stifado sounds exciting, Katenka, what is it? Congratulations on not raiding the chocolate cupboard. It's small steps like that that will get us there!

Do you have a plan for the rest of the week, lampert?

peachybeachy · 12/09/2017 10:12

I'll join you. 1 stone by Christmas will mean that I will have to buy a new wardrobe of clothes (hopefully). I've already lost a little bit of weight and I now fit into all my clothes that were previously stored for the day in the future when they'd fit - well they fit, but now I don't like them :(

I'm going to stick to 1200 for 6 days of the week and then 2000 on one of the weekend days.

I'm going to walk at least 10,000 steps every day and do 60 minutes of active (fast walking) minutes at 3 times a week.

Good luck everyone x

eyeneedacoolnickname · 12/09/2017 10:57

(Waves to everyone)
My plan for today is porridge for breakfast, soup for lunch and not sure on dinner yet, Kids having sausages so i suppose I better not have them! Going to have half an hour on the treadmill too.

IheartCaptainHolt · 12/09/2017 12:26

Weigh in at slimming world today and 2.5lb down so very pleased with that. I'm averaging 1.5 a week so long may that continue! I have never been this focused before which is definitely making the difference.

Tinkhasflown · 12/09/2017 12:36

Can I join too please. I had lost 2 st at sw by last Christmas and maintained it really well until the summer holidays hit! I've gained a stone over the 8 weeks and really need to shift it and maybe a little but more.

I'm working myself up to doing the walk of shame and rejoining SW again but just hate the thoughts of it. Maybe this thread will be the thing to get me on track ☺

eyeneedacoolnickname · 12/09/2017 13:07

Well done iheart 2.5lb is great!
Tink, I have done similar to you, in that I lost 2st with SW last year but since Christmas I have lost and gained the same 7lb over again. Time to get past the 2st loss and loose some fresh weight!

Aridane · 12/09/2017 13:17

WTF - only 14 weeks to Christmas!

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 12/09/2017 13:19

So today I have had - strawberry, mango, fat free yoghurt and bran flakes for breakfast, turkey breast salad from subway with baked crisps and Diet Coke for lunch and for dinner we're having quorn curry with boiled rice - I'm trying to stick roughly to slimming world principles.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 12/09/2017 14:48

I'm doing low carb, high fat. It worked before and I really quite like the food. am not missing wine and cakes, but, then, it is not even 3pm....

Am very tired, this is when I'd usually get a coffee and a biscuit. Or ten.

Anyone got suggestions for a pick-me-up that's not caffeine and sugar?

stealtheatingtunnocks · 12/09/2017 14:49

Ariadne - yip.

We'd better all start behaving incase the Elves are watching.

Aridane · 12/09/2017 14:53

@stealth - a small bit of cheese (if you are near an M&S)? Or a few nuts (problem though is confining yourself to just a few...). Or just hit the caffeine Smile

HillaryWinshaw · 12/09/2017 14:54

I'll join you. I weighed myself yesterday and nearly fainted. 219lbs (15.6). I'm doing the BSD and actually think I'm going to stick with it this time. I have to. I've been justifying my eating habits to myself by telling myself how fit I am (I did my first triathlon recently and went on a 5-day biking holiday) but I'm kidding myself. I'm obese and need to give myself a kick up the arse.

HillaryWinshaw · 12/09/2017 14:58

Oh, and I'm 5'9. Still massive though.

FreckledFrog · 12/09/2017 15:01

I'm in! I had a baby 8 weeks ago and I've come out of my pregnancy the largest I've ever been at a whopping 16 stone. I hate myself! I've managed to loose a few lbs but not much. X

catley · 12/09/2017 16:02

Hi all :) hope it's not too late jump on the bandwagon!
Last time I weighed I was 13st 5 but I think I've put on more since. I suffer from PCOS and my partner and I have been trying for a baby for a year and a half unsuccessfully. Not to mention I suffer so badly with depression, which is only being worsened by my weight (gain 1st per year in the last 3 years.)
As you can see I have more than enough reasons to lose the weight. I need to make better choices so I think counting my calories would be a good idea and it worked last time for me. I also need to be more active and not so lazy!
Christmas feels like it's approaching fast yet when you think of how much weight you could lose in that time it's quite exciting!

Thank you for this thread! I'm starting right now!!!

I'm not online often but I will try and pop back in now and then to keep you updated and see how others are doing - and of course to keep myself motivated!

Best of luck guys!

Sandycarrots · 12/09/2017 16:44

Great idea for a thread!

I'd like to join too if I may and if there is room for one more?

5ft 8 and a half and 13.5 stone and climbing. (Very narrow frame original frame too so carrying extra weight all before me in huge rolling lumps.) Feel so depressed about my size and lack of energy atm. So hangry at the moment too.

Losing a stone before Christmas is a sensible, achievable goal though isn't it?

We can do it.
We can do it.
