Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

It's good to get it off your chest sometimes.
Maintained this week. Bit annoyed but it's most likely hormonal/the horrible lurgy I've had.

Too many biscuits after weigh in tonight but I'm off to bed soon and tomorrow is another day!

JugglingMummyof2 · 13/02/2019 14:29

Tomorrow is indeed another today - still 8 5.8 here - amazing how it can stay exactly the same.
I hope you enjoyed the biscuits - I discovered Bahlsan Chocco momenrs yesterday - only 6 in a box because the chocolate is sooooo thick .
DO NOT BUY - they are the enemy of restraintGrin

DH and I went away at the weekend leaving the DD's home alone for the first time ever and oh my the food and wine was good. Weighed myself when I got back and was 6.5lbs heavier, 3 gone by the morning but still carrying 2lbs of it and I reckon that will stay until I have a week at work next week - half term here and girls are revising for Year 10 and Year 12 mocks so we are a bit housebound until Thursday at 4pm when we are doing dinner, cinema and Friday zoo day and having the weekend off so they can go back rested on Monday ready for exams.
How are you doing?

IheartCaptainHolt · 20/02/2019 20:21

1lb on last week but 3 off this week so pleased with that. I am on it at the moment so just keeping my head down and ploughing on.

Weekend away sounds lovely xx

I hope you stayed on it for the last week - great effort Iheart. I'm at 8st 6.6 this morning - damn that weekend and half term was a blip. Healthy week so far and will continue to be focused.
Onwards and inwards .

8st 6 this morning - despite a lot of cake in the office this week.
How are you doing?

IheartCaptainHolt · 06/03/2019 16:21

Been feeling off colour this week which is not great but I've not felt like eating much so every cloud! WI tonight so will let you know

JugglingMummyof2 · 06/03/2019 17:48

Good luck for tonight but go easy on yourself regardless of the result - not feeling well when you have small children is difficult enough without adding anything else into the mix.

IheartCaptainHolt · 06/03/2019 19:54

1.5 lb off so all Xmas weight is now gone. 1st 3lb to go, aiming for 1.5lb a week so not too difficult (she says!)

You are right, wing sick with little kids is crap. It's more restful being at work than at home!

JugglingMummyof2 · 06/03/2019 21:33

Well done - you really are a superstar!! I'm debating on giving up alcohol for Lent - I have not drank so far in March but 40 days( and nights!) is a loooonnnnnnggggg time and if I commit I need to stick so am giving it my very careful consideration currently. It could have the dual purpose of giving me the little extra kick I need to get out walking again. Decisions decisions.....

IheartCaptainHolt · 06/03/2019 21:39

Ha! Thank you. You have been much more consistent than me recently though so you are doing better than me really!

I'm an all or nothing drinker (stone cold sober or making everyone do shots at the bar and stay out until 4 sort of type) and seeing as the DC wake up at 6 I just don't bother drinking any more really. All my extra calories come from crisps!

On the positive side, I am finally feeling like a non fat person (not exactly slim yet as still only just squeeze into a generous 12 on a good day) so that is nice. It's taken nearly two years so it's about bloody time really!

JugglingMummyof2 · 07/03/2019 09:57

Thank you - I had a giant blip over the summer - too many meals out and barbeques in the sunshine.
Do you ever wear dresses? if so, these look fab on - big range of patterns and so cheap - 100% cotton too - order a size up.

If you are not 100% happy with your upper arms a little shift cardigan is gorgeous with them - sandals/wedges/courts. I love them!

JugglingMummyof2 · 20/03/2019 08:14

Hi - how are you doing? I don't know what has happened in the last two weeks but I seem to have gone off the boil and I have found myself being a bit of a glutton and with the miserable weather not getting out enough so have put on 3lbs Blush
Not great - ggggrrrrrrrr

IheartCaptainHolt · 20/03/2019 09:56

Ups and downs! Lost the last two weeks but after a very heavy booze filled weekend I'm up 2lb. Almost back to my lightest from last April though so on the positive side I've effectively maintained over the last year which is very promising for the future.

I'd like to lose another stone by June/July and then call it quits.

Quite pleased I've managed to live a good life and not get fat again!

JugglingMummyof2 · 20/03/2019 14:59

Well done for having a weekend of fun and getting back on it again. I shall draw a line under the gluttony and join you in your focus again.

JugglingMummyof2 · 06/05/2019 16:25

Hope you are doing well I heart - ages since you posted. Lots of hols here which is never the best focus wise but the weather is much improved the last few weeks so I am trying to get out a bit more again. Finding it hard to get back to 8st 6 again - was at 8st 10 last Wednesday and cannot seem to get much lower. I am trying to focus...

JugglingMummyof2 · 09/05/2019 10:52

8st 9.2 this morning so maybe a more snack in the right direction again. Hope you are still on target for June/July.

JugglingMummyof2 · 15/05/2019 08:11

8st 8.8 this morning - realised my last post say a snack in the right direction rather than step but as no-one else is on the thread now it probably doesn't matter. Anybody out there?

Funnyfishface · 16/05/2019 00:01

Hi
Can I join you please
I’m 5ft 2 currently 9.12
Goal is under 9
Menopausal so weight loss is slow.
What diet are you sticking to Juggling

JugglingMummyof2 · 16/05/2019 09:24

Hello hello and yes you can as my old(only!) friend @IheartCaptainHolt has disappeared. Sad I am following the 'really watch what you eat on the two sometimes three days you work per week, don't go overboard on the remaining weekdays and the woo hoo it's the week-end enjoy it diet' It work better sometimes than others - holidays take 2/3 weeks to recover from. I am exactly the same height as you and at my age should be menopausal or at least peri but if I am haven't yet noticed ( though keeping in the 8's is getting tougher so......)

Funnyfishface · 16/05/2019 18:10

Hi Juggling
So a version of the 5-2 diet? It seems to have worked well for you. Averaging a pound a week.
I would be happy with that.
What sort of things do you eat on your ‘careful days’

Thanks

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/05/2019 07:41

Yes I suppose it is though not intentionally - rather a case of I only like to work 2 days a week if I can get away with it so do very long days when I don't really stop at all so I bring very healthy food with me and am not tempted to eat anything else. I'll look back on the thread and copy in my favourite filling but very low cal recipe now.

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/05/2019 07:43

Here we are OhGood (and anyone else who is interested). It is a sort of bean and veg stew and I make it in bulk and then freeze it off into portions - there are no measurements and the ingredient list is variable too...
Fry two chopped onions and a few cloves of garlic in olive oil - you will need a bit so it doesn't stick too much. When they have softened add finely sliced carrots, variety of peppers, chopped beans or tbh any veg you have that needs eating - I like the last three as it is sweet and filling. Fry a bit more and then add a can of butter beans and a jar/carton of passata (I also use this as an opportunity to use up open jars/cartons/end of tomato puree tubes etc.) add salt and pepper and let it bubble away for about an hour. It smells divine and tastes lovely too. That is the 'recipe' - from practice I have found that a small jar of Lloyd Grossmans red wine pasta sauce makes it even yummier as I had an open jar the second time I made it and chucked it in. I have it for lunch and it really fills me up.
Hope you like it.
