Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

Forgot to check yesterday but checked to day and I am stuck at 9 stone exactly - Next week!

IheartCaptainHolt · 09/11/2018 18:27

You are so close!

JugglingMummyof2 · 14/11/2018 12:39

I was close and I still am - still exactly 9 stone - next week. Hope you are doing well Iheart.

IheartCaptainHolt · 14/11/2018 19:37

Still 12 9 but at least it's not a gain!
Got a wedding this weekend so we will see how it goes

JugglingMummyof2 · 14/11/2018 19:56

Ooh a wedding - that sounds like fun and at least we are maintaining our losses and efforts.
Next Wednesday will be the day for me - I will get there or die in the attempt!

JugglingMummyof2 · 24/11/2018 22:15

Didn't die in the attempt and didn't get there either - the 28th will be it!! How are you doing?

IheartCaptainHolt · 25/11/2018 06:28

Ate and drank my own body weight at the wedding and the day after. DS1 has his birthday yesterday so much cake and pizza was eaten. Realistically I'm just going to try to maintain until January I think. Then see if I can shift the last stone in the new year.

JugglingMummyof2 · 28/11/2018 08:11

You have done so well. I have finally got back to 8st 13.2 this morning but I still have a way to go to get back to my lowest level on here.
I'll keep at it for another three weeks and then enjoy run up to, Christmas, New year and then back on it again on the 2nd January.

JugglingMummyof2 · 07/12/2018 11:27

Forgot to weigh in yesterday and when I did today I was 8st 12 - I have no idea what I did differently last week to have that result but I'll take it.
Hope the run up to Christmas is fun.

JugglingMummyof2 · 12/12/2018 09:44

No idea why as I am not sure I am doing anything different but weight loss seem to have kicked in again and today I was 8st 11.2lbs - not much but all going in the right direction. One more week of focus and then Christmas will be kicking in..... Yippeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

JugglingMummyof2 · 19/12/2018 11:34

Still going in the right direction - just. 8st 11 today and that will be me swanning off now until the 9th January - see you on the other side Iheart and a very happy Christmas to you and your family.

JugglingMummyof2 · 02/01/2019 06:49

Checking in early @Iheart as Christmas has been most unexpected with us spending most of it in hospital as my Dad had a heart attack while staying with us. My whole world seems to have tilted and I feel like life will never be the same again and I am just going through the motions - my stomach is in knots and I can't really eat anything. Can't believe this has happened to him-he has always been so healthy.

JugglingMummyof2 · 07/01/2019 06:52

Checking in at 8st 6 - my weight is about the only thing I can control at the moment.....

JugglingMummyof2 · 11/01/2019 08:23

Things a little better but still feeling churned up inside especially at 4.22 which seems to be the hour when my body jerks itself awake and I lay there just wanting the alarm to go off so I can get up without waking the DH and the DCs. Everyone, bar DH, thinks I am coping brilliantly.
Missed weigh in yesterday but done today and seem have settled at 8st 5.

JugglingMummyof2 · 16/01/2019 14:47

Eating better but still having to make an effort - unknown for me who loves food so much. Dad making good progress but still far from 100%. I can't believe no-one saw this coming - least of all me.

JugglingMummyof2 · 18/01/2019 10:47

Forgot to say where I got to weight wise - though I don't know if you are checking in @IheartCaptainHolt so I may just be typing to myself!
8st 4.6.

IheartCaptainHolt · 18/01/2019 14:02

@JugglingMummyof2 I'm sorry to hear about your dad, what a terrible time you've had. How is he doing now? How are you doing? Well done for not falling headfirst into the biscuits!

I was horrific over Christmas! I put a stone on in 5 weeks!!

However, now back on it (since 2nd January) and have lost 7lb in the last two weeks.

I want to lose another 1.5 stone by the middle of May when DS2 will be two.

JugglingMummyof2 · 18/01/2019 21:36

Thank you Iheart. Couldn't eat a thing tbh - I would think I fancied something but when I put it in my mouth it would feel dry as sawdust and I couldn't swallow it - very effective for weight loss but hard to sustain long term.

I will try and keep under 8st 7 and definitely stay in the 8's so I am alongside you over the next few months. Go us!

JugglingMummyof2 · 23/01/2019 06:55

8st 5.2lbs this morning. I have started to sleep through the night again - makes me sound about 9 months old!
Hope your week has gone well - onwards we trudge(through a light sprinkling of snow here!).

.5lb off this week, I was out four times (!) last week so good going really!

Glad to hear you are sleeping better x

JugglingMummyof2 · 24/01/2019 10:41

Amazing effort Iheart - sounds like a very social week so to lose 0.5lb is great. Life is settling back to normal here.

IheartCaptainHolt · 30/01/2019 21:25

Another 2lb off, only 4.5lb of Xmas weight to shift now

JugglingMummyof2 · 31/01/2019 08:33

Well done - I am back at 8st 6.2 so getting dangerously close to 8 and a half stone again. I think last weekend I finally let my breathe, that I had been holding for a month, out - had some wine, crisps, watched a movie, went to our post christmas party etc.
When I first joined the thread I wanted to get to 8st 13.8 but my goalposts moved with the success we achieved. Out for a leg stretch with my buddy tonight though it is very cold in London at the moment.
Onwards and inwards.

JugglingMummyof2 · 06/02/2019 08:07

8st 5.8 - every little helps as that awful brand says...
Was frozen to the marrow by the end of the walk last week but still glad I did it - God bless her(not that she believes in GodGrin) she listening to the full story of Christmas, as we hadn't seen each other properly since, for an entire hour. We agree on barely anything - politics, religions, finances - but get on great as she is such a lovely person.
Hope your week went well - keep me posted.
