Lose a stone for Christmas - 14lb in 14 weeks

FireflyGirl · 10/09/2017 19:56

I have struggled in the past to find the motivation to lose weight. I found it quite unexpectedly last November thanks to a 'lose a stone by Christmas' thread. However, I'm a slow loser and 8 weeks wasn't long enough for me to lose a stone. I managed it by the end of January, but then had a family bereavement and I've struggled to get back on track since. But I would really like to lose some more weight.

What helped me last year was the accountability of being on a thread. I controlled my calories using My Fitness Pal, but it was so helpful having other people to talk to who were having the same struggles.

So, if anyone would like to join me, I'd be grateful for some company. 14 pounds in 14 weeks takes us to 7 days before Christmas.

I weighed in this morning and I was 10 8.8. I will stick with a Sunday morning weigh-in as I take DS swimming so can use the scales there.

I plan to use MFP, cut out snacks and make good decisions on my meals to stay within my calorie allowance.

Yay Iheart - you are wonderful - we seemed to get some chums but then they all disappeared again so glad you are still around. Onwards and inwards we go x

IheartCaptainHolt · 26/09/2018 21:34

Progress seems slow but that's only because we've come so far already. I bet there are not many of these threads that last to the Christmas after the one they were set up for!

The final stone off for Xmas would be bloody brilliant so I'm going to find my focus again and get to it.

JugglingMummyof2 · 27/09/2018 08:28

I have been back on since the start of the month and I am getting there too - we will do it!!

shearwater · 27/09/2018 14:32

I need to find my weight loss mojo again, was doing 5:2 but got a bit fed up and am going to count on MFP again. I'm also joining a different gym and can go with my daughter now. I had lost 22lbs but have put half a stone back on over the summer. Cutting down alcohol too, as too much booze was certainly a factor over the summer. Have bought a new running lead and head torch so I can jog with dog.

shearwater · 27/09/2018 14:44

Oh, forgot to say, I was 14st 9lbs, size 18 at one point (Christmas 2016), currently 13st. Goal is 160lbs - 11st 6lbs. I'm 5'7" and a size 14. Sorry, current loss is 22lbs. I had lost over two stone at one point.

golddustwomen · 27/09/2018 16:11

Can I please join? I know I'm a little late!!
I don't know what I weigh as we don't have scales in the house, to be honest I'd be frightened to get on them!!
I had my second baby 16 months ago and the weight has just creeped on since. I eat so much fast food it's actually sickening!! I love chocolate and beer too.
I can still fit in my size 12 jeans but they are so uncomfortable and look like I'm about to burst out of them. I also no longer have ankles. Have been doing the whole 'diet starts on Monday' crap since May. The diet is starting tomorrow!!! Hoping this group may give me some motivation.

JugglingMummyof2 · 29/09/2018 17:41

Hello @shearwater and @golddustwomen.
Please do join in as we can keep each other motivated as we get towards party season.

JugglingMummyof2 · 03/10/2018 13:35

9st 4 on the nose this morning. Our new joiners seem to disappear as soon as I welcome them - am I scaring them away??
I hope you are still there @IheartCaptainHolt - who is Captain Holt btw?

IheartCaptainHolt · 03/10/2018 13:47

I am still here! Weigh in is tonight so fingers crossed.

Captain Holt is a character in Brooklyn 99 on E4 which I love!

I think they are a bit scared off by the fact that we've been going for a year now!

JugglingMummyof2 · 03/10/2018 20:48

Good luck Iheart. I am just back from a long walk with my chum so that should aid the movement of those sticky pounds.
I am really determined to get back to where I was keep me posted.

JugglingMummyof2 · 05/10/2018 09:08

Just checking in to say I had a sneaky weigh in and am now 9st 3.6 - maybe having a booze free month will speed things up a bit.

IheartCaptainHolt · 05/10/2018 18:34

You are doing so well! I lost .5lb and had a pep talk so back on it now. Going to London with my mum this weekend, ready for lots of walking and I've packed some healthy snacks so won't just scoff biscuits all weekend!

JugglingMummyof2 · 05/10/2018 19:33

Ooh childfree week-end? If so how exciting - so much to see and do in London, I really can't imagine we will ever leave. Enjoy!

IheartCaptainHolt · 06/10/2018 08:58

Yes child free! On the train now, very excited. V&A abs national gallery today and probably Kew Gardens and some sort of walk or walking tour tomorrow.

I live 'oop north so a trip to London is always a treat. Have you lived there all your life?

JugglingMummyof2 · 06/10/2018 14:24

No I have lived here for 25 years now but spent my school and Uni years in a different country though I was born in the UK - graduated from college and was here 6 weeks later. It took me eighteen miserable months 'oop north(ish) on a graduate training scheme in quite the most unfriendly place I have ever endured to get a London job and come back. I still find this astonishing as I have loads of northern friends, in London, and they are the kindest, nicest, most generous bunch so I think I was just very unlucky. I have never been back there.....
Terrible day in London today, the worst we have had in 5 months but tomorrow is due to be lovely which will suit your walking tour - hope you have the best weekend ever. (Kew Gardens is a fair way from everywhere else you are going and I suspect would be miserable today)

JugglingMummyof2 · 10/10/2018 08:36

9st 3.2 - Getting there but it is very slow - even alcohol free. Ho hum.
Hope the weekend was great Iheart - I think it really is just going to be you and me.....
Last shout out to @golddustwomen @shearwater
come and join us...

JugglingMummyof2 · 10/10/2018 08:41

Where are you @anitagreen @Whiskey2014 @AmazonfromKent @Shakeme
come and join us - 10.5 weeks to being a stone lighter - you can do it.

JugglingMummyof2 · 12/10/2018 10:56

Here I am again 9st 2.8 - think this alcohol free is working but out for theatre and dinner tonight so expect a little upward bounce on the scales in the morning. Will keep it going after tonight.

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/10/2018 08:08

Another Wednesday another weigh in. Hope you are ok @IheartCaptainHolt
Good news is I am 9st 2. Bad news is it is obvious that going alcohol (and consequently mostly crisp) free is the way forward. Bah humbug!!

IheartCaptainHolt · 17/10/2018 19:52

4lb off for me so back down to 12st 13. I am back in the game!

I agree that alcohol and crisps lead to madness and are, sadly, best avoided.

Next goal is 12st 7 by 19th November as I'm going to a wedding then.

JugglingMummyof2 · 17/10/2018 22:27

Great to hear from you - Well done on the 4lbs. 6lbs in 4.5 weeks sounds very doable for you - onwards and inwards we go.

JugglingMummyof2 · 24/10/2018 17:19

A snotty week here and am 9st 2.2 today. Definitely on the mend but I spent the later half of last week feeding myself comforting quick to prepare foods then toddling back to bed.
Onwards and inwards.

JugglingMummyof2 · 31/10/2018 08:29

9st 1 this morning - the 8's are beckoning but today is the last day of Sober October so I may have to keep going a bit longer - bah humbug...
Hope things are ok with you Iheart - keep me posted.

IheartCaptainHolt · 07/11/2018 12:39

I'm back on track @JugglingMummyof2!

2lb off over the last 10 days so back down to 12,9

Not bad considering I've had a few days pity eating! I was feeling sorry for myself as I had an operation on my wrist to get rid of carpal tunnel syndrome. It seems to have done the trick but I've not been able to drive fir the last two weeks or use my right hand much so life has been a bit tricky!

We can keep going with this and I'm looking forward to seeing how much lighter I am this Christmas compared to last year!

JugglingMummyof2 · 07/11/2018 14:34

Great to hear from you but sorry you have had the hassle of the operation and recovery - not easy with two little ones.
I did weigh in this morning but didn't bother posting as I thought you had vamoussed along with all the 'new recruits' but good news for me too as 9 stone exactly - couldn't get to 8st 13.8 this morning so will try again tomorrow to see if I can lose that 0.2lb overnight to get there.
Onwards and inwards.
