With 15 weeks untill the beginning of December I'm aiming to lose 1 pound a week. First weigh in tomorrow - anyone want to join me?

I have planned my food out for today and am planning a nice long walk along the costal path near our house, work again this evening.

2 egg omelet with mushrooms for breakfast and a coffee,

Baked sweet potato with sour cream and spring onions for lunch which is my current favourite meal,

Hungarian Goulash and steamed veggies for dinner,

I've factored in another coffee and a banana as a snack.

I'm going to go and eat breakfast before I'm tempted to weigh again as I only weigh on an empty stomach.

dewberries · 20/08/2017 10:16

Morning all.

Yesterday was day one for me and I did really well considering I was home alone all day and a bit bored.

I caught up on some jobs in the house that I have been avoiding and resisted naughty food although I did have bread as I just felt so hungry and empty. I usually feel so full and bloated from all the chocolate that I eat but I am sure that after a couple of days my stomach will adjust.

I am avoiding the super market as I can't trust myself yet but my kids have all left home now so I can get away with not having much in the fridge/cupboards.

It was great waking up this morning and not having that instant guilt about all the crap I ate the day before.

KnitFastDieWarm · 20/08/2017 12:10

Been away this weekend for a family event and did ok - few bites of pasta and cheesecake and a couple of glasses of wine. Scrambled egg with cheese and ham today, will have low carb pizza and maybe salad for dinner.

AIMGA · 20/08/2017 15:45

Doing okay here too, had 2 eggs for breakfast & salad + a sausage for lunch and three biscuits! Feeling a bit emotional and that's when I find it hardest to resist something sweet...

Back on the cross trainer tomorrow and weigh in Wednesday.

Well done dew I feel so much better when not feeling guilty over food. Smile

amroc18 · 20/08/2017 17:02

Can I join too?

Did quite well early in the year 13st1 down to 10st11, but now post holiday season I'm at 11st3 with an ultimate goal of 9st10 which should get me to healthy bmi. Ideally would like to smash it pre January but to be honest would be happy to get below 10st by Christmas if I can!

Think going to track on MFP

theancientmarinader · 20/08/2017 17:32

I'm the same with photos - if I see myself my instant response is 'omg that can't be me! I'm huge!' In my head I'm much more compact.

All you MFP-ers, how do you pick which best represents the meal in front of you? I mean, when I've tried MFP in the past, there seems to be wildly different calorie counts for what seems to be the same thing (like say a mixed salad - or a homemade soup). I get tied up with things I make, because 'homemade chicken soup - small bowl' calorie counts can vary by a couple of hundred calories... and of course I'm going to select the lowest calorie count, because I want cals left for dinner... How do you know which one best represents the meal in front of you?

HLBug · 20/08/2017 17:40

I weigh and calculate the calories for all the individual ingredients - that way I know for sure what I'm eating. Or I pick the highest option on MFP as I'd rather overestimate than underestimate and end up eating more than I should.

theancientmarinader · 20/08/2017 17:47

Thanks bug. Picking the highest makes sense. I don't have the patience for weighing Grin

amroc18 · 20/08/2017 18:17

I do the same as bug. And after a while I found that I could guesstimate which is the likely right one based on ingredients used - though this can be dangerous!

HLBug · 20/08/2017 19:14

Anyone know if there is a way to add friends to MFP so that they can see what you are eating? I think that would help shame me into making better choices!!

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/08/2017 19:39

Planning is the key to success I think tits although I'm winging it a bit as I haven't done a proper shop.

I'm still eating less though, in quantity and sometimes (50% maybe) better choices.

knit I find I get easily derailed by weekends away etc, I need to Crack having a bit of a treat and then getting straight back to the diet. Doesn't sound like you did too badly though.

Those of you struggling, I really know the feeling. I've been on the verge of starting for months, and have found it very difficult to get going. Keep at it and keep posting, it might help.

Today I've eaten two croissants for breakfast, overnight oats for lunch, an apple and a nectarine. I'm having BBQ beef ribs and salad for dinner. The croissants obviously weren't in the plan (I'd planned overnight oats.....) but even so, my days food would still be about half the calories I was consuming up to last week.

I'm.going to try and download mfp later. I'm not a tech type person and my gadgets are crap.

On the plus side, I really do feel better already, more in control. I was 13St 3 on Thursday, I'd love to manage a decent first week loss and get to 12something. 12 anything!

I was 11St 3 the first time I joined weight watchers. How depressing.

kylerichards · 20/08/2017 19:40

Can I join you guys , I started a week ago . Starting weight 10.4 I'd like 9.7 for xmas . Weigh in Sunday's x

TitsalinaBumSquash · 20/08/2017 20:18

I add recipes or meals so I can add each ingredient separately on MFP, you can add friends but I forget how!

My new interim goal (after walking to work in the pouring rain this evening) is to fit into my winter coat with the hood! I can just do it up but it pops open when I breath out. 😳

It might be all in my head but I feel healthier already, like my mind is clearer and I'm more in control.

Welcome everyone who has joined.

amroc18 · 20/08/2017 20:20

Bug if you're using the MFP app go to "more" on the RHS on the bottom of the app, then Friends should be in there. You can add by MFP, Facebook or your contacts.

Nottalotta well done for pulling it back and being strong enough not to write off the day with it not starting as you intended. I can be guilty if that so v impressed!

Pixie2015 · 20/08/2017 20:26

Finished off cheese cake and currently having glass of vino to finish bottle before cracking on with healthy eating and second run tomorrow. Signed up for virtual half marathon as further motivation 🏃

AIMGA · 20/08/2017 20:26

Everyone sounds like they are doing so well!

I'm about to have a cup of tea and trying not to nibble a handful of nuts as I am not hungry..

Annoyed as MFP won't download as "not available in my country" Hmm . Can anyone recommend any other app?

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/08/2017 20:26

Thanks amroc I was particularly impressed with myself as I went out, got petrol and only bought a bottle of water. Previously I would have bought a bottle of Pepsi max and couple of bars of chocolate, at least. Avoided KFC drive thru too.

Sparrowlegs248 · 20/08/2017 20:27

I'm bloody starving, dinner in oven, toddler asleep but baby not quite.

swearymad · 20/08/2017 20:45

I'd like to join please. I'm 12 stone and quite short, 5 foot 2. Would like to shift a couple of stones by Christmas.
I have a wedding in November and family parties in September and December which should hopefully motivate me.
I'm peri-menopausal so I don't find it as easy weight to lose as I used to.
I am planning on being low-carb and using MFP.

d270r0 · 20/08/2017 21:17

Another not so good day for me :( Was doing fine until invited to parents for a bbq and then ate masses of meat. Ah well fingers crossed for tomorrow.

pfrench · 20/08/2017 23:33

Day 4, shared a tea cake with my daughter, then had a bite of brownie. Other that that, all fine. Did a swimming interval training session this morning that burned 300 cals though, so carbs for afterwards all fine.

Hungry now though. Three more days to go until the hunger pangs start to fade. Decorated a bedroom to avoid thinking about it!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 21/08/2017 07:10

Weighed in this morning and I'm thrilled with -4lbs! 😊
Food is planned as,

Quick Breakfast - Rice crispies with s/s milk, blueberries and a banana and a coffee. (I uses these because they're light I get a proper bowl full of 30g)

Lunch - yesterday's left over rice from the families dinner, made into skinny egg fried rice.

Dinner - Roast Chicken (must avoid crispy skin) with plenty of veggies and a small amount of sweet potato roasties and a smidgen of gravy.

Snack - hard boiled egg.

Hopefully another decent walk today before work.

I have 3 birthdays coming up for my 3 boys, in quick succession. I have always refused to be the mum who won't share a slice of birthday cake with the kids due to some diet and I plan to stick to that. I'll have to reduce everything else that day and have a small slice.

Sparrowlegs248 · 21/08/2017 07:26

Ooh well done tips!!

I will weigh I think.as I weighed on my mums scales Thursday, and I'm going there this morning so will weigh at home and there, if I remember. I have a feeling her scales might be a couple of pounds lighter than mine.

I'll be having cereal for breakfast (shreddies)
Couple of pieces of fruit
Salad of some sort for lunch (will be out)
Dinner will be pasta I think. I've got a nice WW recipe so will do that.

Oh and swimming. Or rather splashing about with a baby and toddler, but still.
