Christmas weight loss thread

With 15 weeks untill the beginning of December I'm aiming to lose 1 pound a week. First weigh in tomorrow - anyone want to join me?

MarieLaure · 18/08/2017 19:49

Could I join you? I don't have loads to lose - have lost about half a stone, but have now hit a wall and need some motivation. I'm 8 stone 11 now (down from 9 stone 4) and would really like to be 8 stone 5 (which was my "happy weight" pre children) by Christmas (ok, by next week - but realistically...). But weight loss has plateaued and it's hard to keep going when I know my weight now is OK. I still don't fit lots of my clothes well though, and I swear that every ounce of those 6lbs I'd like to lose is on my tummy. I'm only 5'2.

Sparrowlegs248 · 18/08/2017 20:01

knit you certainly carry it well! I weigh heavy too, quite muscly under the fat. But since babies have put some lots on my tummy and as I'm quite small chested (average while breastfeeding..... ) the tummy is really noticeable.

Not too bad today, cereal again, turkey burger, boiled egg and salad for lunch, I did have a piece of cheesecake (it's my birthday......) and a nectarine. not had dinner yet.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 18/08/2017 20:07

Today I have eaten,

2 boiled eggs and a cup full of sautéed mushrooms.

Banana whilst out and about

A salad of shredded cos lettuce, grated carrot, cucumber, homemade hummus and a cheese snack stick thing.

Cuppa coffee with a malted milk biscuit and some watermelon.

Meatloaf, broccoli, butternut squash and sweet corn for dinner.

I'm stuffed and used all but 50cals.

I have already noticed that the food I'm eating is enough, I'm not hungry my plate is always full st mealtimes, it goes to show that I was a greedy madam before and was wait more because I wanted too and it tastes nice rather than because I was hungry.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 18/08/2017 22:33

I have been on the road today and eaten all meals out which was tricky. I've had:

Scrambled eggs and two rasher of bacon
Cheese and tomato pastryless quiche (had a sweet potato bottom) and salad
A bit of squid and a jalapeño popper (not ideal!)
Duck breast with asparagus, spinach and greens and cherry sauce.
A hunk of cheese.

Not counting calories as it makes me a bit insane but I think I should still be in a small deficit. Not sure if I've managed to stay under 60g carbs though.

sodorjmum · 18/08/2017 22:49

Can i join. I also do sw and use mfp to track what i eat.

Ive lost 1.5st since june. Hoping to lose another 1.5 by nov as we have a little break to a hottub.

Current weight is 14st 3lb

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/08/2017 09:27

Fish, new potatoes and peas. Bit of a quick effort and late. Also one glass of wine.

Really feel like I'm on the right track mentally this time. I'm so miserable being this size. I've got a lot of crap going on in my life just now, losing weight would really make me feel better about myself.

dewberries · 19/08/2017 09:30

Just posting my starting weight.

I am 10 9.5

Not very happy about it but I am going to try really hard. I know that even half a stone loss will make a massive difference but I need to lose two stones but am taking it half a stone at a time.

I carry all my excess weight round my middle so I makes me look and feel huge for my height and frame size.

I have dusted off the Fitbit and am aiming to do 10,000 steps a day. Oh and not eat cake, chocolate, crisps, biscuits and bread.

I hope that you are all doing ok.

AIMGA · 19/08/2017 11:11

I'm itching to weigh myself but won't as if I have lost, I will get complacent and eat more and if I haven't lost I will be disappointed and eat more 😂
Had a low carb duck & courgette stir-fry for breakfast and I'm about to download the MFP app!

I'm feeling good about this too, I think my headspace is right this time and I'm not finding it hard to say 'no thanks' to people DH when they're trying to ply me with cake and puddings.

There is exactly 18 weeks until my first wedding anniversary, I was massively overweight on my wedding day and I cringe at the photos now, they're not something I have proudly shared with family.
I'd be so thrilled to be 18 lbs lighter by then.

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/08/2017 11:46

I don't know why last night's post didn't post til this morning.

I think a lot of my problems with recent attempts have been because I wasn't in the right 'place' iyswim. I have to be ready to do it and I feel like I am now. Cereal and dried raspberries this morning. Nothing else as yet!! Peckish now though.

My phone won't download anything so charging the ancient tablet so I can add mfp and I might use my birthday money for a fitbit.

dewberries · 19/08/2017 12:21

Nott Fitbits are great because they tell you your calorie burn throughout the day.

starlight36 · 19/08/2017 15:11

Can I join in? I really need to lose some weight. Too many treats over the summer holidays - definitely over ate on holiday and lots of baking with the kids. I could feel my clothes were tight but horrified to see that I weigh 11 stone 3lbs. I'm only 5ft 5 so that is pretty heavy for me.
For the next two weeks I'm aiming to cut down on the calories and be a bit more active. Once the kids are back at school I can up the exercise a lot.

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/08/2017 18:24

Well, it's hard going here! Been away for a week and hone late yesterday. Lunchtime today found mouldy bread and moldy salad, thanks husband. So had a few cheese and crackers and an apple. Go ahead biscuit things for snack. Probably jacket spud and tuna for dinner as not done a proper shop.

d270r0 · 19/08/2017 19:49

Well I weighed myself again this morning and I have lost a pound, so was really happy- but then did what you mentioned AIMGA and ate loads :(
We went on a family day out and I had a plain scone for breakfast, brie, cranberry and bacon panini with chips for lunch, then some popcorn and loads of maltesers for snacks. I then felt really guilty so have skipped dinner so think in the end it might not have been too bad. I reckon calorie wise the total probably came to my maintenance amount so hopefully I won't have gained weight from today, just not lost any.

AIMGA · 19/08/2017 20:46

d27 well done on the 1lb! Stay strong and picture yourself in a glitzy Christmas dress Xmas Grin.

Im having surgery in 4 weeks and this thread is the only thing stopping me using it as an excuse to eat crap! My tummy is saying "What's the point in trying to lose weight, I'm bound to put it all on again after having an operation"...fighting the excuses is an uphill battle sometimes!!

OP posts:
Sparrowlegs248 · 19/08/2017 21:29

Managed a reasonably good dinner given the state of our cupboards. Jacket spud, tuna with peppers chopped in, and peas and sweetcorn. Random, but I'm full.

I feel better already, need to check back and see what day I weighed. Will weigh in once a week. Wore my fat jeans today, previously too uncomfortable. They were OK today!

Pixie2015 · 19/08/2017 21:36

Would love to join in too - like others breast feeding but would love to shake off a stone for Christmas - got weighed this morning and went for run today for first time in 18 months. Good luck this week everyone x

HLBug · 19/08/2017 21:50

Hello, can I join in too? Maternity leave finishes circa Christmas time so I need to loose baby weight by then! I'm over on the 5:2 and 16:8 boards too. Got about 1.5 stone to loose, but aiming for 2. Good luck everyone. Can't actually believe Christmas is only 18 weeks away - a pound a week average would be great. Fingers crossed!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 19/08/2017 22:08

I've done ok today, I used a technique I learnt a long time ago which was to make up a tray of picky bits to last me through the day and was within calorie allowance, o had a lot on with the kids/work and house stuff so knew I wouldn't be able to sit and eat a meal so after I'd had breakfast I made the tray up and left it in the kitchen and have picked at that between jobs.
Mainly fruit/veg with a small bowl of pasta pesto and a cheese snack stick.
I had 300 cal left so I decided to have a G&T whilst sewing which was lovely Smile

I'm going to try and only weigh in on a Monday so I don't get obsessed.

My sister put a picture of me on Instagram today and I could have wept at how wide I am compared to every other person in the picture. Blush

theancientmarinader · 19/08/2017 22:24

Me! I won't be posting every day as I can never keep up, but will check in every few days and see how everyone is doing.
I'm 12 stone 4 pounds and 5'2". I'd like to lose 2 stones before Christmas, which I think is probably doable if I knuckle down
I actually subscribe to Beachbody online. I lost half a stone working out before summer but am now back to where I was and haven't worked out in over a month. So, better get back to that then. Will start with 21day fix workouts but I prefer Anna Richardson's body blitz diet for a two week kick start on food. Beachbody wants you to fit food into little plastic boxes and the idea of it makes me sad. I have zero interest in weighing food or fitting it into pots before I eat it, so I do better with concrete things like 'no wheat' 'no dairy - except in tea' and 'no alcohol' for a couple of weeks. She has a few other rules too. I had better look them up...

pfrench · 19/08/2017 22:36

Three days down. No exercise today, but two G&Ts and a bite of brownie. My plan sort of involves a day 'off' a week, and Saturday it is. I need to keep this up for at least 6 months, so I need the day where I don't think about things too much.

Not much beyond 800 cals despite that though.

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/08/2017 22:44

I've nor really exercised today either pfrench other than the general dealing with giant baby plus toddler. Honestly, I'm sure I.must be buff and toned under this layer of blubber!!

Read back and realize I weighed Thursday a.m. So will continue with that.

pfrench · 19/08/2017 22:45

Just seen someone else's photos from our holiday too. OMG! I have some sort of body dysmorphia I think - absolutely no clue how big I am compared to myself pre-pregnancy, or compared to people around me. I think I'm a bit the same as X person, but now I've seen pics I know that isn't true at all.

pfrench · 19/08/2017 22:46

Nottalotta - yep, I did 10,000 steps, but none of them in much of a hurry. Walking anywhere with a 2 year old who won't go in a buggy is the speed of treacle.

Sparrowlegs248 · 19/08/2017 22:59

Haha yes I know that feeling. I'll be doing a brisk walk while they sleep (hollow laugh......) and a slow walk with the toddler.

I am the same re pics, it's photos of myself that's kick started me actually. I didn't think I looked that bad. I really don't recognize myself!!
