With 15 weeks untill the beginning of December I'm aiming to lose 1 pound a week. First weigh in tomorrow - anyone want to join me?

TitsalinaBumSquash · 17/08/2017 09:22

Me please! After reaching 160lbs I have got my bum into gear and got back on MFP.
I want to lose at least 30lbs to start with as I'm a shortie so 160 is massive for me. I'd quite like me clothes to fit again!

Knope2020 · 17/08/2017 09:27

I'll join if I may?
I'm trying to do 16:8 and low carb
It's worked for me before a few years ago and i lost 20lbs
I'm now Peri menopausal though and I'm finding the weight very hard to shift:(

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 17/08/2017 09:48

That's good to hear notalotta. It's the side lunges that are killing me I think. Muscles are aching in places never before reached!

How much did you lose?

I have tried to have a carb free breakfast so that I can save space for a nibble of cake later. Nothing in the fridge though so I went for the slightly random choice of a wedge of cheese wrapped in Parma ham. I do have a chicken salad for lunch though so today won't be entirely cheese and cake!

Sparrowlegs248 · 17/08/2017 09:55

I wasn't really trying to lose weight when I did 30DS, I'd lost weight prior to that and wanted to tone up which I did, my fitness really improved.

Getabloominmoveon · 17/08/2017 09:58

Me please! Managed to bring a couple of blobby kilos back from holiday, so now weighing in at 76kg after a week of MFP calorie watching. My nemesis is alcohol, my social life, and eating out. And cooking. How does Nigella do it? I've got dinner out this evening, 2 parties at the weekend, and lots of international work travel in September and October to deal with. All help and ass-kicking will be needed!!
I'd (ambitiously) like to be 66kg by Christmas, heading towards a perfect 60kg by Easter, so means I need to be losing a steady 1.5lb per week.

Getabloominmoveon · 17/08/2017 10:08

Could someone tell me about the 30 day shred? Is it a downloadable thing? Just had a quick look online and it seems to be advertising dvds. I'd like something I can do on the move, in a hotel room etc.

Also, those of you who've lost weight before, how did you deal with social events where you can't control what's on the table. I know I could just say no!

Sparrowlegs248 · 17/08/2017 10:11

It's also.on YouTube. There are three levels, do.level one for ten days and so on.

Wishfulmakeupping · 17/08/2017 10:22

Hello can I join you all- I want to lose 12 pounds by xmas I'm 12 stone now would like to be back to pre-dc2 weight of 11.2 im 5.10 so that takes my bmi down to 22ish I think. I need to tone my bingo wings and mum tum my plan is I'm doing the couch to 5k thing alongside healthier eating and trying 30 day shred heard it gets really good results but I'm so unfit I think it might be beyond me right now!
Good luck everyone

everyonesgotanopinion · 17/08/2017 10:33

Thanks for the welcome. My first challenge is next few days - currently in an airport lounge surrounded by 'free' goodies and fighting with myself not to eat all round me even though O had overnight oats at 8am... this weight loss malarkey is more about your mind than your appetite I'm finding. I'll check back in on Tuesday when I'm back. Have a good weekend everyone Smile

Getabloominmoveon · 17/08/2017 11:06

Steel yourself everyones! You're absolutely right - it is (like many things) mind over matter. Good luck over the weekend.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 17/08/2017 12:45

If anyone is using MFP to track and wants a buddy then please feel free to add me.

I fiend if I plug in all my meals at breakfast then it keeps me on track, I always add in a lower calorie biscuit or 2 (depending on what the rest of the days looks like) with my afternoon cuppa so I don't feel 'deprived' of treats.

Yesterday I decided to wing it for the day and ended up scoffing a large slice of homemade apple pie, a ton of bread and butter and copious amounts of cheese. 😳
I won't be repeating that again!

I calculated me TDEE and it's apparently quite low compared to 'average' people my age so my MFP works out at only 1140 calorie allowance a day, I'm doing alright sticking to it though and always eat all my calories.
We're also on a really tight shopping budget so I have to plan my meals around cheaper cuts of meat, veg and lentils/beans etc. I was doing low carb for ages but it was costing so much that i couldn't justify it anymore, especially since it wasn't working all that well for me.

I'm also trying to up my water intake since I tend to drink nothing all day apart from a coffee and a tea, I've cut out Diet Coke completely unless I'm out having a meal which isn't often at all.

one2three4five · 17/08/2017 12:52

Ooooh I'm in! I lost two stone this year in preparation for a holiday, but have subsequently put a stone back on since returning (blame most of that on huge American portions and amazing food!). I was a stone away from my target, so now have two stone to lose. Argh!

Ipitythescale · 17/08/2017 12:55

Am I too late to join the party? Want to lose at least a stone by xmas. Back to the gym tonight and back on 5:2 diet from tomorrow.

MooPointCowsOpinion · 17/08/2017 12:58

I'm in. I'm so cross with myself, I have been low-carbing but I'm a teacher on summer break and home with my kids all day. It's not good for my diet or exercise, at work I do 12,000 steps a day, at home I have to drag kids out for long walks to get close to half that.

I have been doing the 7 minute HIIT app, 2/3 times a week, it's really good, my stomach is definitely getting flatter and my arms seem more toned.

I realistically have 3 stone to lose, but I'd be glad for half of that by Xmas. It's my favourite time of the year and we do so much, I'd like it if we could have family photos I don't hate.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 17/08/2017 13:02

I will join please. Have tried and failed to lose much this last few weeks with being off with the kids. But Sept will bring packed lunches and back to routine so I want to get stuck in then.

13.8 5 ft 6.

AIMGA · 17/08/2017 16:04

Hello and welcome everyone new Smile.

What is MFP?

OP posts:
pfrench · 17/08/2017 16:12

I'm in. Also a teacher - I do better in the holidays for some reason though.

Had an awful year last year, want to change jobs, but at the moment have no self confidence (work or otherwise), so would like to lose some weight before I start looking for jobs.

Not getting on scales, but taking weekly photos.

I'm aiming for the blood sugar diet (800 cals a day), which I did last year for 8 weeks and lost 2 stone. Definitely put that back on now due to menopause arriving/loads of stress eating.

So, 800 cals a day + post exercise carb cals of around 250 a day when I do exercise.

Exercise - alternate run/HIIT and swimming for 6 days a week. Will move rest day around depending.

After the 8 weeks of 800 cals I'll change it all around, but it's fine for that short amount of time.

dewberries · 17/08/2017 16:20

Can I play too?

I have a couple of stone to lose. I'm not sure of my exact weight but I will check in first thing in the morning once I have dusted off the scales.

dewberries · 17/08/2017 16:24

MFP is my fitness pal.

SaraWeez13 · 17/08/2017 16:25

Yes please!

Current weight loss is 1st 12 lb by following Slimming World and doing at least 10K steps a day. I'd like to lose another 1st by Christmas (ambitious as it's really slow going for me!).

twobambinos · 17/08/2017 16:42

Can I join too. Need to lose a stone to get back into most of my wardrobe. I'm annoyed with myself. And them another half stone on top of it I would be happy. So a stone before Christmas would be great.
Went for a 5km run today and ate a sensible lunch and breakfast. Salad for dinner. My problem is junk food. Must try to avoid.

KnitFastDieWarm · 17/08/2017 16:56

Can I join? I don't want to post my actual weight just now, suffice to say I would love to have a stone off by Christmas Grin I eat pretty low carb/high fat, just too much! I could also do with more exercise - have done 30day shred before and loved it so may try that again. I used to be very fit and prettyslim for my build but years of aging/pizza/office work/pregnancy/eating toddler leftovers have piled on the pounds.
Today I went for a hours brisk walk, climbed around on a climbing frame like and idiot with my toddler, and ate a three egg and bacon omlette with some grated cheese and a tbsp of mayo. Probably won't eat much else today - low carb high fat really kills my appetite.
I'm looking forward to seeing my lovely flat(ish) stomach again - we'll ignore the csection flab for now Wink

Sparrowlegs248 · 17/08/2017 18:01

Well maybe this thread has got my brain in gear as I seem to be in the right mindset for this now.

I'm breastfeeding feeding a giant baby and am hungry a lot. Today I've had cereal for breakfast, chicken and veg rice concoction for lunch. A nectarine.

Braised beef with spuds and veg for dinner. This is not really proper dieting but I'm staying with relatives so limited with choices, no junk though.

glenthebattleostrich · 17/08/2017 18:40

Wow pfrench, that's amazing.

I have the blood sugar diet book and have attempted it once. I think I may have to give it another go with that sort of loss.

AIMGA · 17/08/2017 18:51

Breastfeeding a giant baby here too notta , I'm a bit scared about when he reduces as I imagine I will gain weight rapidly if I don't get my diet in hand now. I'm tucked up in bed with blocked ducts now and no appetite for dinner Sad.
