Calorie counting starts tomorrow (8th May). Lose a stone with me?

surprise · 07/05/2017 17:34

I managed to lose almost a stone due to illness over the new year, but have managed to put on 3 lbs since then. I really, really want to have lost a stone by the end of July (start of school holidays).

So I think that a stone in 11 weeks is definitely doable.

Anyone like to join me? I'm sticking to 1700 cals a day (I'm quite active), logging them on MyFitnessPal. I'm also aiming to do 3 lots of exercise per week (brisk walking/exercise DVD/swimming).

I'd quite like to weigh-in here too, to keep me motivated. So here goes: 11 stone 6lbs. Weigh-in again next Sunday?

I struggle to increase my exercise as I already run twice a week and go to pilates once a week. Plan is to go to the gym two mornings before work for half an hour mainly to do weights and to make sure I hit 10000 steps every day.

I am guilty of thinking I'm very active because I'm in a running club but really 2 hours of exercise a week isn't enough.

It's so hard to make up for 40+ hours a week sitting at a desk.

AnotherYellowBelly · 08/05/2017 09:06

Has anyone took their measurements? I've got mine logged in MFP so hopefully can see some inches lost!

SansaClegane · 08/05/2017 09:22

Ugh, weigh in was 11st this morning! How did I gain 3lbs over the weekend?! too much chocolate probably
My target is to get to 150lbs by the end of the week...

capru · 08/05/2017 09:54

Can I join?! I have a ten month old, still breastfeeding and like others I feel hungry all the time! I've lost a stone since Christmas, but I have lots more to lose so a stone would be a great start. I'm 14st7 and my ultimate goal is 10st7. I'm calorie counting on 1700 a day, with one day off per week (and when I stick to it I can lose around 2lbs a week).

Tartle · 08/05/2017 10:14

I just exploded half of my misery porridge over the microwave! That must have been at least 100 of my 200 calories! Stupid fast days!

Yellowbelly my PT recommended the rowing machine for HIIT. Just alternate doing 30seconds relaxed with 30 seconds maximum effort for 20mins until your arse goes numb. It's much easier than messing around with settings on treadmill.

MakingBaconPancakes · 08/05/2017 11:53

9st 9.8this morning.

But I was wearing jeans in and know from previous weigh ins that my jeans weigh two pounds.

So going to be optimistic and say I am 9st 8.

Will be running today. Eep.

cathyandclare · 08/05/2017 12:00

Another I've measured my waist, it needs to go down 2 inches to get in my lovely dress and not look like an overstuffed sausage.

AnotherYellowBelly · 08/05/2017 12:10

Tartle thanks for that, I'll give that a go on Wednesday. How often do you do a HIIT workout? I did abs and strength machines today then a half hearted jog on the treadmill for 15 mins. Bloody sciatica is driving me mad, keep thinking my leg is going to give way!
About to eat a flat bread with some salad and hummus- no crisps!

ThespianTendencies · 08/05/2017 12:13

HIIT session done. Greek salad with tuna for lunch, done. Now off for an hour's walk with the dog....Water intake high! Surely I should be a 1lb lighter by tomorrow Grin

Tartle · 08/05/2017 14:17

Hmm. Not as often as I should. I try to go to a hiit class on Wednesdays but I have missed the last 4 I think!

I think ideally I'd do one hiit session, two days of strength training and three runs a week (training for half marathon). Last week I managed Pilates and one run and basically went to the pub every evening instead. No wonder I can't do my shorts up!

This gives me massive motivation for me to shift a few pounds before my holiday in 21 days. I really want to lose 7lbs but I've maybe left it too late?
I really don't want to have to buy new summer clothes!

SSYMONDS · 08/05/2017 14:39

9.11.5 this morning, 8.10 is my ideal so really need to focus now.
Going for 1250 call a day, plus exercise whenever I can. Good start today with an hour in the gym.

Hey thespian tendencies - pm me if you're up for a month or two of motivating each other by text?!

Tartle · 08/05/2017 17:31

Oh god I'm sooooo hungry! Why am I always so motivated in the morning and then it all goes out of the window at tea time?!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/05/2017 18:14

Right, that's day one done. Kitchen closed! I'm doing BSD so it was an 800 calorie day, but I've eaten really well. I had a shake made with almond milk, frozen raspberries and half an avocado; a salad with prawns, mayo and chilli, and My dinner was delicious- cod fillet spread with a tsp of pesto and wrapped in Parma ham. Baked in the oven, then served on crushed peas mashed with a bit of mint sauce.

Hope everyone's had a good day!

leavethelighton · 08/05/2017 19:28

I'm done for today! Hit 10,000 steps and did the 30 day shred, which has slightly killed my knees Grin Could have been better on the food front - wasn't particularly unhealthy, but too big portions. I live in a catered uni hall, so it's difficult for me to be precise with food.

MrsJamesMathews · 08/05/2017 19:34

[pokes head around the door and quietly knocks]

Can I join please?

I lost 4 kgs a few weeks ago during a very stressful time and it was really noticeable (to me). So I went and bought loads of new clothes and now after Easter and a couple of family birthdays I've put it all back on again!! Sad

I'm 63 kgs / 9st 13lbs

I really want to be 57 kgs but will be happy with sub 60!

MakingBaconPancakes · 08/05/2017 19:46

Ni58 That link is brill. I am having too much fun with it.

surprise · 08/05/2017 19:57

Welcome MrsJames and all the new additions. Smile

Well, I've got 100 calories left to eat - don't want to eat too late so just about to have a banana (living the dream ..)

I've decided to also do the 12 hour thing that a previous poster suggested so I won't eat until 8 o'clock tomorrow morning, hoping it will help a bit.

Have done my 12,000 steps today, so feeling ok at the end of day one. Hope everyone's had a good day. And if you haven't, just start again tomorrow. Remember - the only way out is through.

Oh I wish I was having your tea bear1983!

I've done step and pump and am on my way home for some food. Have 300 calories left so sounds like a salad!

TheDonald · 08/05/2017 20:05

I've had a terrible day today. I got off to a great start yesterday with 15k steps and three healthy meals with no snacking.

Today dd had an operation. Just a day procedure but we were there 12 hours and I didn't have any food with me so I had to make the best of hospital shop food. Then it got worse because dd wanted a McDonald's on the way home so I joined her.

And I've only managed 5.2k steps. Back on it tomorrow!

Agoddessonamountaintop · 08/05/2017 20:27

< joins the quiet knockers >
Okay if I join? Been aimlessly trying to lose half a stone or so for years now, but since last autumn it's become more like a stone Sad. Think it may be partly hormonal (I'm 53), but I'm determined not to have to buy a whole new wardrobe this summer. I've been able to get away with buying the same size clothes for a long time (they just fitted a bit more snugly), but now I'm down to circulating the same few items that I'm not bursting out of.
So, I joined the gym a few weeks ago and am doing mostly strength with a bit of cardio (like someone else upthread said). Think I might try the couch to 5k instead of gym cardio though - can't stand the bike & treadmill and last time I took up running it did kickstart weightloss really well.
Mfp gave me a goal of 1300cals a week ago and I've lost um nothing since then but I did my usual trick of slipping in a few glasses of wine and possibly a bit of cake at the weekend. Will be aiming for three meals a day, always with a decent amount of protein. Best of luck all!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/05/2017 20:36

Tartle my tea was less than 300 calories!
Are you doing 5:2/ fasting days? (Sorry can't remember from up thread!)
I would recommend getting the books for Michael mosely's plans- even if you don't follow it the recipes are very good and very tasty. I do have salads but it's so much easier to stay on track when I've got really zingy flavoursome food on the menu!

Kathrynnz123 · 08/05/2017 20:55

Well weighed in this morning (nz time lol) 15st (!!!!!) wanting to lose at least a stone. I sit at a desk all day, so trying to walk at lunch and eat properly during the day. Have started having brown rice, steamed veg and chicken for lunch and that has been going well - prep it all on a Sunday. My goal is to walk as many lunchtimes as I can and swim after work when I can and go to a dance class once a week..... We've got this team!!!

userofthiswebsite · 08/05/2017 21:18

Today:
In: 1740 cals
(apple, biscuits and tea, porridge, cereal bars, caramel waffle, meatballs and broccoli)
Out: 860 cals
(hour's walk and longish gym session)

Final intake for the day 880 calories.

I think I'm going to check and update my weight each day as I have a pair of quite fancy scales that detects quite small changes and I am hoping that will motivate me each morning.

SansaClegane · 08/05/2017 21:52

So, today went ok. Ate 655 kcal, hit just over 13k steps (though no exercise as such). Going for a short run tomorrow, so things can only get better. I will drop to 150lbs by the end of the week!
