KOKO, No S means no Snacks, no Sweets and no Seconds. Except for on days starting with an S (which includes Special days ie birthdays, but you should have no more than 2 of those a month). They aim for 21 day challenges - apparently it takes 21 days to form a habit, so how about setting yourself a 21 day challenge to not snack/nibble during the week? The founding guy says that he built in weekends as off days to help people relax and not feel too deprived - it works! It really made me conscious of how much I needed to eat at lunchtime to keep going until dinner, and also, how much I ate in the evenings! It cut my sweet tooth pretty dramatically after a few weeks. Didn't lose any weight, mind - think my portion sizes were still too big and my exercise was too low, but I think after 5 months of trying to lose weight, I want to flip my efforts and focus on establishing good habits - cutting snacking/sweets (which have been creeping back in!) first, and then starting to gradually reduce portion size until I know how much is too much.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 16/05/2017 11:50

Sorry, I started typing that this morning and went away to a meeting and just dashed it off without refreshing! Quim, I have Fridays and Saturdays as my off days! My trouble was that there were so many Special days - I was averaging at least 5 a month instead of 2. I need to be stricter...

ArseyTussle · 16/05/2017 14:16

I am indeed still running Archie. Haven't added on any distance, so still just doing about 4 - 4.5 miles at a time. It takes me an hour. Blush

I'm afraid I have been absent because I've been Eating Bad Things and have been too ashamed to raise my chin(s) above the parapet to face you all. Blush

Squiffy01 · 16/05/2017 14:17

Thanks for the explanations of NoS that sounds like it would be something good for me too.

tv well done on the run! I do wish I could run. I find it so boring though. I used to be able to go for 40/45mins now I just can't manage
Anything more than a couple of minutes.

quim missed that it was your birthday. Happy Birthday! Hope you had a lovely day.

Coming up to my 4th golden day today Shock. I'm out to dinner tomorrow night so it won't be 5 but my aim is to make a better choice than I would normally. Even when I'm on a diet when I'm out I think sod it and order exactly what I want. I hate salads so it certainly won't be an ideal choice but something better than I normally get it what I'm aiming for.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/05/2017 14:44

Arsey you're always welcome here. We've all had or in my case having a wobble

Thanks BOOP. Flowers

Stellar67 · 16/05/2017 16:15

No S diet? Oh blomey I'm just about getting to grips with 2:2:3.
Actually I'm not. Not getting to grips with anything that doesn't involve eating food I shouldn't Hmm

Arsey I think I also hide a bit when not being virtuous. You are back now.

Balonder · 16/05/2017 16:27

Thanks Quim, I am doing the 10,000 swing kettlebell challenge. It's 500 swings 5 days a week with additional exercises like push ups, dips, squats. It's tough but I am enjoying it and definitely getting stronger. I had my first kettlebell session about 2 months ago with an 8kg bell and it nealy killed me. I am using a 16kg bell now. It is definitely focusing my mind in making better food choices too

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 16/05/2017 16:42

Oooh, I forgot about 2:2:3! No S is easier - it's a slow programme because it addresses things in stages rather than focusing on getting weight off fast. Hence time off at weekends/not reducing portion size until you've nailed the basics. It is really good for actually helping the root problem of over-eating, though! I keep falling off the wagon with 'faster' plans and am getting fed up of having been on a fairly draconian diet for nearly 5 months and only having lost a stone due to all the wagon-tumbles. So I'm going slow for a bit to see whether the tortoise does actually win the race after all.

Quick Thai veg casserole for tea, 190cals
Basically a load of veg from the freezer (including frozen chopped Thai herbs!), little oil for frying, tin of tomatoes, tin of green lentils and half a carton of coconut cream (left over from my paneer curry)

Arsey, I've been awol from Feb-may too (at least. Possibly longer)

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 16/05/2017 17:50

Evening all! Just catching up on the thread.

Happy belated birthday Quim!

Well done TV! That's a really good time, let alone without any training!

Welcome back Arsey! Once a slenderista, always a slenderista (chins or no chins!)

I had a successful fast day yesterday, and I have been fairly golden today (food-wise if not exercise-wise). I have finally recovered from my achy bodypump legs so I am going to cycle into work tomorrow. I also want to do a fast day. I have a mini pot of hummus and some ready-chopped baby carrots/celery sticks for lunch tomorrow, then tomato soup for dinner. Should work out at about 450 calories.

BeyondStrongAndStable · 16/05/2017 19:14

Ending the day on 830cals, just reached my step goal (including 6/6 active hours :) ) and did 15 mins Pilates
😇

Softpebbles · 16/05/2017 20:31

Just checking in as fell of my threads I'm on.

So so here not amazing not ridiculously bad. Not weighing A's period imminent and I think my PMT and sensitivity would see the sad step thrown out of the closed window. 😫 Anyone else suffer like that!!!

poorpaws · 16/05/2017 21:40

Another wobble day! I feel this week is running away with me and I'm doing very badly. I must keep posting because if I do so badly that I leave, I fear I'm on a slippery slope to weight gain. I've got another sore throat today and fearing yet another cold and that's when I eat.

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread today and I'm going for an early night now but I hope everyone is doing better than I am.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/05/2017 22:41

Just checking in to say goodnight too. I've squeaked in just under calories (just!) and tan a 5km PB so I'm calling that golden and going to bed before I ruin it!

Balonder kettlebells are awesome.

Do you do the Turkish Get Up with them?

That will get you insanely fit. You wont be able to do 500 though maybe 10 on each side.

BitOutOfPractice · 17/05/2017 04:15

I've never done kettle balls. Too scared of my fishy shoulders. I see so many people using them at the gym though.

Morning all!!

Stayed the same here this morning. Plan for today's food should bring me in at just under 800cal, if it stays on track.

HairsprayBabe · 17/05/2017 08:25

Morning Senderistas,

10.11 for me this morning so back at last Fridays weight, came in at 781 cals yesterday, and that included a teeny tiny cake and a handful of almonds.

We had Linda McCartney pulled "chicken" lettuce "tacos" for dinner was bloody lush and the "chicken" is only 180 cals per 100g, we had that between us and there was loads with salad and dip etc.

Having coconut and lime vegetable curry for dinner today, dp bought me a new grater yesterday so i am looking forwards to zesting my limes tonight Grin

TVHubbyClaire · 17/05/2017 08:31

oooh Niki i remember doing Turkish get ups at a boot camp i used to go to.they are hard

Yesterday was quite golden for me........played badminton at lunchtime, left work early and tried to walk post race stiffness out of my legs, ended up over 20,000 steps for day which is a PB Smile

Weighed myself this morning and am down to 12st 7 1/2....definitely lowest since joining this little group of losers....feeling very pleased with myselfHalo although I have just had two slices of toast....Sad

BeyondStrongAndStable · 17/05/2017 08:50

Oo, coconut and lime sounds good!! 🤤

HairsprayBabe · 17/05/2017 09:02

I dont really have a recipe but it generally goes something like

2-4 tsp curry powder mix - I use morrisons medium blend (less oil than a paste)
1 tbsp of caraway seeds
up to 2 tbsp oil
something oniony - I use spring onions less carbs and quicker to cook
veg - a mix of cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, courgette, spinache whatever you have in 200-300g per person-ish chopped to a smallish dice - for quicker cooking!
1 heaped tbsp of coconut cream per person
Zest and juice of one lime per 2 people
splash of water 1/4 cup ish

To bulk it up I sometimes add chickpeas

Toast the spices and caraway seeds in the oil
Add the onion/shallot/spring onion
Chuck the veg in and cook off for a few mins
Water in an lid on till the veg are cooked
Add in coconut and lime juice and zest
Stir in chickpeas if using

Done!
