Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

Well done Chocolate!

And I love your name OwlinaTree Grin

Giddyaunt18 · 04/05/2017 17:59

I'm still 9st 13 since last week so albs down since early last week. Happy with that and that it hasn't gone back up as I'm not calorie counting or dieting as such just zero snacks and healthy portion controlled meals. Would be lovely to see another pound off tomorrow. Anyway, I had an early dinner of chicken skewers and a large salad (no carbs at all tonight) followed by a spoon of Greek yoghurt with raspberries.Kitchen closed until breakfast.

Well done Giddyaunt.

I walked a lot today and when I got home I did the Body Coach 5 minute abs workout on YouTube, you don't need any equipment and it's done before you know it.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 04/05/2017 20:50

Well done everyone!

I'm only weighing myself once a week (on a Monday) so don't know if I've lost anything yet but feel I'm having a good healthy week so far.
And I'm not even craving any junk or anything, and don't feel hungry despite consuming less calories than normal (I'm logging them on MFP).

Haven't done any exercise though - know I need to sort this!!

NewYearNewNickname · 04/05/2017 21:59

Welcome Scarftown. I would definitely recommend keeping a log of EVERYTHING that you eat and drink for a few days, it can be a real eye opener!!

Have my Mum's surprise 70th party on Sat so this evening I am busy clearing out the spare room for my aunt and uncle who can't stay at Mum's as she doesn't know they are travelling over from Ireland. I'm sure the clear out / clean must be burning a few calories though probably not nearly as many as I will be consuming come Sat!!

Friday morning weigh-in and still 9st 13 so no more lost since last weekend. I suppose I expected it as I dropped 3 lb within a few days. I'm not in a hurry to lose so will keep plodding on. I do feel trimmer around the middle so hopefully it'll show on the scales v soon. Good luck everyone else!

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 05/05/2017 07:48

Friday morning - another pound shifted - 10 stone 1 now. Feeling delighted after a week of self-restraint, but know that I will do my usual and gain a pound or two over the weekend. Am out for cocktails/wine/dinner with girlfriends tomorrow night which won't be good for me. I have done the right thing and checked out the menu online beforehand so that I can order the best thing dietwise so we will see.

Giddyaunt 3 lbs is a fantastic loss, well done, when you think that is more than likely 3 lbs of pure fat as you are eating healthily and not crash dieting. Good for you!!!! Good luck for the next week.

Scarftown I am also 5'7 and I started dieting at 11 stone 8 when I weighed myself and had the shock of my life. I also thought, in my head, that I was about 9 and a half stone. I'm aiming for 9 stone 7. I have found that if I can avoid caffeine, keeps carbs to a minimum, eat three meals a day and only have low fat yoghurt or a small square of dark chocolate for treats then the weight comes off. Alcohol and caffeine are my enemies. Chicken, fish, salad, roasted vegetables and sweet potatoes are my friends! Also lots and lots of herbs, spices, crushed chilli flakes to make food really tasty - that seems to satisfy me more. I don't really like exercise but I do walk the dog every day for an hour or so.

Oh - and just being hungry sometimes and welcoming it as a good thing for an hour or so before lunch and an hour or so before dinner, because hopefully that's when my body is burning the fat! And not eating after about 7 p.m. at night, or as early as possible depending on the day and the family's various activities/commitments.

For weight loss to be sustainable, you can only expect to lose a pound or two a week so be kind to yourself and don't expect speedy results, especially after the first five or six pounds come off!

Good luck all for a healthy weekend. I am so glad to be sharing the journey with you all, it really helps.

NewYearNewNickname · 05/05/2017 07:53

Friday morning weigh in here too. Stats so far...

Starting weight Tues 18th - 10st 4.6lbs
Fri 21st - 10st 1.4lbs
Fri 28th - 10st 0.8lbs
Fri 5th - 10 st 0.4lbs

So I am down just under half a pound which if I am honest I am a bit disappointed with. However in the gym there is a model lb of fat which is larger than you might think so I will look at that later and remind myself that half of that is not bad. I am recording the previous weeks so that I can see it is still going in the right direction!!

Quite a full on weekend of celebrations ahead so will try and balance being sensible with cutting myself some slack!!

Have a great weekend all!

i am very late to this thread/party but please can i join in ?
I am 74 kgs , and 5ft 5 which is quite heavy but generally quite happy as fit a size 12 easily.
I lost 4.5 stone about 5 yrs ago and have kept it off mostly, but was definitley down to a steady 70-72 kgs now creeping up a bit, i am blaming my menopause as its all going on around my tummy.

I just need to clean up my habits a bit...
I am not keen on fad diets etc, but going to try reducing carbs .
I run 7 km three to 4 times a week and aiming for 10 km in few weeks so doing lots of exercise.

i am another wine and pizza at weekend sucker though!

i want to get to 71 kg so that 3.5 kg or 7 and half lbs ...how hard can it be ?

OwlinaTree · 05/05/2017 08:32

Hi guys, I posted earlier about sweet potato, thanks for the replies. Can I join in? I've been doing slimming world and have lost 2st 9.5lb so far. Not sure how much more I want to lose tbh!

My target is 9st at the moment, but I might go lower. Lowest I've been is 8st6 but that was pre kids and when I did a lot of gym work. No time to fit in exercise at the moment really. I want to start c25k, I was working through it and stopped when I got pg about 5 years ago! Don't fancy running while I've still got bf boobs though!

OwlinaTree · 05/05/2017 08:33

Sorry didn't say that at the mo I'm aiming to lose 10.5lb.

PaintingOwls · 05/05/2017 09:00

Welcome JellyBean and Owlina!

This morning I am 66.2kg. This means I have lost 1.8 kilos since I started tracking calories. Delighted at this even though I know most of it is likely water weight at this stage.

I have Parkrun tomorrow morning and I'm planning to run twice a week from now on, 5k on Saturdays and 5k on Wednesdays after work. Some people run during lunch at work but I really don't fancy breathing so much pollution in if I can avoid it.

Also I'd really urge you all to eat whole foods as well, instead of low-fat or fat-free things. When fat is taken out something else needs to be put back in. This thing is usually sugar. Your body needs fat anyway, so you may as well enjoy the full fat thing instead of eating more unnecessary sugars, which are everywhere and bad for you.

Those of you using MyFitnessPal — are you hitting your macros? I find that I always slightly overshoot on carbs and don't get enough fat and protein. I eat a lot of vegetables, so it's not predominantly starchy carbs, but it is very annoying to be off by about 4% or so every day. Today I have added 20g of walnuts to my lunch to help out my targets.

PaintingOwls · 05/05/2017 09:04

I have lost 2.8kg christ, I can't count.

butlerchauffer · 05/05/2017 09:15

Morning all. 0.4 lb off this week which isn't great but I do feel slimmer and not bloated which is good. I've done three exercise classes this week nd meals have been good but I've been snacking on nuts which keep the hunger at bay and are good for you but maybe I've been dipping in the jar a bit too much! Bank holiday weekend was tough and I'm not not having a curry takeaway! I'll keep plodding on - right direction and all that. Having to shop for occasion dress (nightmare) so keeping that in mind. I feel quite steely and don't want to eat crap but don't want to starve! I do like the comment Bold:Hungry and Tired about welcoming hunger tho! I'm 10 stone 1 now so 3.4 lbs gone and 8 to go! Have a good weekend everyone

FlyingSquid · 05/05/2017 10:45

Humph, I seem to be exactly the same as at the start of the thread.

On the plus side, I suppose I've stopped going up every time I check!

Well done to everyone else.

Giddyaunt18 · 05/05/2017 13:16

I second this.

Hang in theresquid!

eltsihT · 05/05/2017 15:32

I have been trying really hard this week to stop snacking. But have set my self up for failure tonight.

My dh is away with work so I invited some friends over for a glass of wine (or too) normally we have a tray of nibble, chocolate buttons, crisps, dips etc.

I am going to stop at the shops on the way home from swimming trying to think what to buy so we can still have something to pick at.

I already have carrot sticks on my list

Giddyaunt18 · 05/05/2017 15:37

Try toasting some pumpkin seeds in a dry non stick pan and sprinkle with a little salt and smoked paprika. Yum! Slice peppers and cucumber and make a skinny dip with yoghurt, garlic and lemon juice.

Giddyaunt18 · 05/05/2017 15:38

Oh and make wine spritzers with sparkling water so you are only drinking half the amount of wine .

eltsihT · 05/05/2017 15:47

Thanks those are great ideas, will definitely be picking up fizzy water and some yoghurt to make my own dip.

Think I will pick up some strawberries as well so I feel like I am having a treat.

Orangecake123 · 05/05/2017 16:25

Can I please join?

I've already lost 34lbs pounds previously- but just I've been dithering for months gaining and losing the same pounds. Losing 14 pounds would finally get me into a healthy BMI range. So that's my goal for now and I know I will get there one pound at a time.

I've been back at the gym twice this week. Running on the treadmill on Tuesday. Rest day on Wednesday. I've had painful menstrual pain for the last 2 days, so today was just low impact exercise that wouldn't be too taxing- cycling for 30 mins and walking on the treadmill with an incline for 30 mins. I rather actually enjoyed it, as it''s not what I normally do. Gym is usually 3 times a week. Currently I'm following the c210k app by zenlabs which got me running and I would recommend it to anyone. I honestly struggled with running for a minute at the start and never thought I could run 5k. I have my first 5k race in june.

So three days in my calories for the past few days have not been fixed but dependent on how hungry I am so between 1500-1300 with more emphasis on protein and big salads. But I'm allowing myself one kinder beuno chocolate bar a week after therapy and I can also have a maximum of 2 chocolate dounuts if I want to xD
