Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

Ahhh I am feeling so tired and unmotivated. I came back from my weekend in Bath a kilo heavier!

Help.

How do I get my mojo back?

Giddyaunt18 · 06/06/2017 16:55

body's not bodies!

Oh painting a kilo sounds more than 2 lb. It's not much and probably some is water if you've been hitting the carbs over the weekend. Have a protein rich, carb free evening meal and an early night . Come on, you've done so well. It does get harder after a while and we are all entitled to have blips it's whether you let the blip sink you or not. Are you a sinker or a swimmer??Wink

theredjellybean · 06/06/2017 18:22

painting owls..do not despair..you had a nice weekend and i always find i am more knackered after a break than before..the concept of a short break recharges you is rubbish..i always think i need about a 6 month break from my working life ....and then i might not be perma tired !!
If it is any consolation i got on scales today...i weighed in three places in my bathroom and got :
68.7 kg
72.1 kg
74.5 kgs

now first definitely not right, i know i am not that light, last one..also feel doubtful as looks slimmer in mirror and all summer clothes fitting easily, whereby lasy summer when i weighed between 73 and 75 kgs they were very tight !

so i reckon i am going for middle one :)

so my conclusion to my evening ramblings is..scales are rubbish way of judging our progress, and better tape measure , mirror and a dress or jeans you know you fitted better some time before...

painting owls ...come on are you a flyer or a faller ( owls probably don't swim their feathers would get soggy )

Your blood sugar typically rises just before morning/ waking in anticipation of getting up and active. I know this personally because I've had gest diabetes twice which I managed with diet and constant glucose monitoring, and the morning 'spike' is well known. So not everyone actually has a dip, but we probably feel like we do out of habit and expecting breakfast.

Bumblebzz · 06/06/2017 22:29

@PaintingOwls I felt the same after being on holiday last week (and I put on at least a kilo if not more). After a day or two back home, and some proper sleep in my own bed (sleep is so important) I felt able and ready to get back on the wagon. All the reasons I started this over a month ago are still valid, if not even moreso now I know how easy it is to undo the progress! Start a brand new day tomorrow...

Herbie58 · 07/06/2017 06:00

@theredjellybean I do that with my scales! 🙈😆. I don't know why I think moving them will help but I just need to "check"

@PaintingOwls - a good day of protein and I snacks will see that two pounds off - I bet that's water related to carbs and drinks

I'm two pounds down! Yay! 9st 2 now...creeping closer to first target of 9st. Then onwards to 8.7 for my holiday at the end of July. I WILLL be comfortable in a bikini!

Orangecake123 · 07/06/2017 06:01

@painting- Chin up- it happens to everybody. You ca rest for a bit but you're not allowed to stop now! Grin

I gain whenever I go back home too. It may seem silly but on instagram I follow a lot of powerlifters and other very strong women, I find that motivates me because hopefully I want to be like them.

@redjelly- your scales do indeed look very wonky. Throw them out of the window! Do you have progress photos?

Orangecake123 · 07/06/2017 06:02

@Herbie- wooooooo well done that's fab news! You're very close to your goal and will be there in no time.Where are you headed for the summer?

PaintingOwls · 07/06/2017 08:51

You're right JellyBean owls are not waterproof 😂

Orange I also follow inspos on instagram. My favourite is a PHD student who used to compete in bodybuilding competitions but is now trying to tackle ovarian cancer in the lab. She's incredible.

Thank you all for the support. It really helped and made me laugh so today I have a protein-heavy breakfast and lunch and hopefully dinner, it depends on what DP is making tonight.

And I dropped down slightly from 65.8 yesterday to 65.4 this morning. That's something!

theredjellybean · 07/06/2017 09:58

So update on the scales saga...today I weighed 72.0 in all three spots. So I am going with that weight. Which is good. 2 kgs to go...

Herbie58 · 07/06/2017 11:18

@Orangecake123 I'm off to Spain with my OH and our two kids. Running around after two boys half naked fills me with dread! Rightly or wrongly I want to look half decent in the process. Or at the least be comfortable.

I'm sure my mummy tummy wobble won't go (stretched skin) but I can at least cope if the rest of me is smaller.

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 07/06/2017 14:14

Hi everyone. I've been quiet as I was away for half term.

Anyway, the big news is that today I hit 10 stone exactly! I have been longing for that moment for so long. I actually put on a couple of pounds at the start of half term, but then lost them and a bit more to get to the exactly 10 stone mark today.

So....just another 7 pounds to go! I wanted to do it by the end of July, I suppose it's still possible if I can keep going at a pound a week from now on.

PaintingOwls keep going!! Keep going!!! We are in this together and we can't let a couple of pounds here or there get us down.

theredjellybean · 07/06/2017 14:57

Well done always....Maybe you need a new name... " alwayslosing"

FitbitAddict · 07/06/2017 16:03

Well done always

This morning I was my lowest this year, so those holiday pounds have gone and then some more! I'd like to lose another 10lbs by 29 July though.

Bumblebzz · 07/06/2017 16:57

Well done everyone, great to see the progress!
Another no breakfast day, and I was so busy I ended up doing a 17 hour fast. Then I had a lovely healthy salad and didn't crave sweet things afterwards like I usually do.
One unexpected benefit is the time (and cleaning up!) I'm saving by not having breakfast :)
Not sure if I will do this long term but I'm going to try it for a couple of weeks and see if the weight shifts.

Giddyaunt18 · 07/06/2017 21:42

That's great that those stubborn pounds are dropping, we really mustn't give up when he gain a little or plateau, it will come off eventually. It really knocks your resolve though. I haven't weighed at all this week but can see and feel the weight has come off my tummy. No breakfast for nearly 2 weeks apart from Monday and it feels normal now. I think I'll carry on doing what is 18: 6 until I get to between 9st 4 and 9st 7 then If I'm happy I'll skip it only at weekends to balance wine calories! Need a plan because it's keeping it off that is the challenge.

jamesclear.com/the-beginners-guide-to-intermittent-fasting

Another interesting guide to intermittent fasting here.

Bumblebzz · 08/06/2017 07:13

Thanks @Giddy that's very interesting.

66.5kg this morning, very pleased as holiday (massive) gain is gone, some of which was hormonal but in fairness most of it was (ahem) clotted cream fudge,
Also swam 1.25km last night which is big for me, and managed to go the bed afterwards without eating which is frankly, unheard of for me.
I am liking this intermittent fasting a lot!!

PaintingOwls · 08/06/2017 07:50

64.8kg this morning, my body is acting as though nothing happened 😂 I feel a bit silly for freaking out.

My foot hurts, I hope it will be OK for Saturday, I don't want to miss Parkrun for 2 weeks in a row.

FitbitAddict · 08/06/2017 07:56

bumble I adore clotted cream fudge! The Lidl fudge is very good too. Can you tell I grew up in Devon?!

I was down another 200g this morning, and have just worked out that I've lost almost 10lbs since Easter! Woo hoo!

PaintingOwls · 08/06/2017 08:22

Congratulations AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired and Fitbit!

Orangecake123 · 09/06/2017 15:29

I haven't paid attention to weighing myself for the past two weeks, but I carried on working out the same way regardless. I really felt and saw the difference last night as I looked in the mirror so I'm happy.

You're all doing amazing and well done to Fitbit, Bumble and alwayshungry!

Any plans for the weekend guys?

theredjellybean · 10/06/2017 08:23

good morning everyone....i weighed today ( cannot wiegh friday mornings as work away )

71.7 kg today ...( i have gone for the middle weighing spot in the bathroom and marked were scales are to go to try and get some consisitency, it doesnt really matter if that is correct weight as long as it goes down !)...

yeh....thats a total of 2.9 kg or 6.38 lbs.

I am very pleased....especially as i went out for an amazing dinner on thursday and ate truely wonderful food ( but think truffles, cheese, olive oil, chocolate etc )

I have also had 4 new swimsuits arrive to try on...very interesting, they range from £125 to £17.50 ...guess which looks best ?

Yep the £17.50 one ! it is better and more flattering than the £125 miracle suit one ...

even though i am at work all day today , nothing can dampen good mood :)

Snorfig · 10/06/2017 09:18

Can I join very late in the thread? I've just reinstalled MFP for like the millionth time, weight has crept back up for the millionth time, only 7lbs to lose but I'm

theredjellybean · 10/06/2017 09:39

welcome snorfig...of course you can join...
I have decided to stop the wine ( aghhhhh......) for 7 weeks leading up to big holiday...i have done this before but it is hard as i to see it as a reward at end of day.
If life is a bit crazy ( and whose isnt ?) it is easy to slip into neding that glass at end of day and with me that was then half a bottle and then i didnt care about the crisps and cheese and biccies that went with it...worked out that i was often adding 1000-1500 calories a day with this habit.
I still crave a glass of cold white at around 6 pm but distract myself with a dog walk or a quick bath and the craving goes away...
