Small amount to lose but want support?

NewYearNewNickname · 18/04/2017 08:04

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

Perhaps that calorie count is a misprint jelly as 1000 cals would be more like a day without breakfast if you had a 300 to 400 cal lunch and 600/700 dinner.

Giddyaunt18 · 30/05/2017 09:04

This morning my scales say 9st 9lb. First time seeing the 9 in a while. The last 3 days I haven't had breakfast and last meal at night at about 6pm so an 18/19 hr overnight fast seems to be working. I have a slightly bigger lunch of say 400 cals(had bean on toast, a little grated cheese, mushrooms and spinach sautéed) and no idea how many cals in dinner but I made a coconut milk based fish curry with brown rice and green beans. I'm off work this week so easier to sleep later, exercise and potter without breakfast. Where is everyone that started on this thread??

Orangecake123 · 30/05/2017 09:45

Back from the gym. I walked there and back as it was a nice day.

@ Giddyaunt- Wooo well done . That;s fab news. What's your target weight?

The coconut curry founds tasty as does the bigger lunch. I have spinach I haven't used up, might copy you.

Giddyaunt18 · 30/05/2017 11:03

Hi orange , you must feel virtuous .I've just been watching the election debate whilst on my exercise bike. Not eaten yet but had a mint tea, a coffee and a big glass of water and feel fine. my target was 9st 7 so 2 pounds away but ideally i'd like to get to 130 lbs which is 9st 4 so will keep going. Not baring all in a bikini until August so plenty of time. The fish curry is so good. It's in Michael Mosely's Clever Gut Diet. there was a supplement in the Daily Mail I think.

Giddyaunt18 · 30/05/2017 11:04

My caps key is sticky hence caps fails all over the shop!

littlemissM92 · 30/05/2017 11:11

I'm still here floating around but I have sort of moved mainly on to the 16/8 thread it's really working for me and can see it being a life style change that I can stick too so v happy about that wish I had thought to do it sooner !

Giddyaunt18 · 30/05/2017 11:12

Hi Littlemiss that's good, I'll take a look.

PaintingOwls · 31/05/2017 09:13

64.5kg this morning!

I'm really pleased but, once again, I am tired. I overslept horribly today and I'm about an hour late for work. I don't think the iron supplements are helping, I'm going to have to try to fit more sleep in somehow.

Herbie58 · 31/05/2017 11:14

Can I join you please?

I'm 5ft 3 and weighed in last week at 9st 6lb. I'd like to lose a stone, and my first target is 8st 12lb, then 8st 6lb.

I'm coeliac which makes meal choices much harder - and gluten free alternatives tend to be high sugar/high fat.

So I'm using GF slender blend protein shakes made with water (140cal) for breakfast and lunch with a healthy dinner. Snacks are either an apple or a mini milk ice cream after dinner. Yesterday I had:

B: 140 cal protein shake
L: 140 cal protein shake
D: Butternut Squash Spaghetti with a chicken breast and Philadelphia light stirred in.
S: Apple

Orangecake123 · 31/05/2017 15:06

I went gym today and have planned to go for a run with a friend in the park tomorrow at 9am, so I'm feeling good about my progress, just rather tired. I napped for a solid two hours as I was just exhausted. I have a stone to lose and it definitely seems much more possible now then it did a month ago. Losing the final weight might take 3.5 months. The only difference I see in myself before and now is that I stopped pretending that I wanted to lose weight, and just fully committed to it one day at a time.

@Giddy- You're so close and it's very possible to get there before august! I am thinking of buying the same exercise bike you posted, for my mother so she can slowly work out at home whilst watching a tv show and not have the excuse that she doesn't have the time.

@Welcome Herbie =)

Giddyaunt18 · 31/05/2017 16:50

orange I have no complaints about the bike part from I haven't use the computer properly and can't be bothered to work it out. There is a wide range of resistance levels and it is very quiet so you can watch TV at normal volume.I will be getting gone it tonight. I should get commission!

It's day 5 of no breakfast for me so I'm now doing my bespoke diet of 16:8, No S and healthy gut food. Basically eating at 12 and then at 6 ish. It's calorie cutting due to no breakfast, no snacking in between meals and the benefit of a long overnight fast which apparently has many benefits including weight loss. It seems to be speeding things up for me as I'm getting closer to target.

Giddyaunt18 · 31/05/2017 16:51

on it!!

Herbie58 · 31/05/2017 17:51

Ooh @Giddyaunt18 - just seen your post about coconut curry and it's inspired me for dinner tonight. I've loads of veg in the fridge that needs used and a tin of low fat coconut milk. Cheers! 👍🏻

My only problem is you can't cook these things for one....so portion control is a struggle! 🙈

Chinnychinnychinnychib · 31/05/2017 20:26

Hello! Can I join? Am 5'3'' and have crept up to 9st 11 die to lazy eating. Now doing MFP - on day 3 and really struggling because I'm a greedy fucker. 1200 calories seems so little (especially when I'm saving 200'for wine!!). Has anyone got any tips for feeling full?!

Giddyaunt18 · 31/05/2017 21:41

Hi Chinny I try to include some good protein in each meal, it always fills me up. Omelette with 2 eggs or beans on toast, lean meat with veg and small amounts of wholegrain carbs like brown rice. Soup is another good filler. If you're struggling between meals and tea isn't cutting it try miso soup. It's savoury but very light.

Bumblebzz · 31/05/2017 22:05

Just checking in...great to see all the progress and @Giddy that is intriguing about the overnight fast. I might work up to something like that too. Lasting till 12pm would be hard at first - did you build up to it?
I'm on hols and had terrible PMS (or else just dislike spending 100% of my time with my family so I'm going with PMS!) the last few days so my eating has gone off the rails. The only positive note is that I've done lots of exercise (20km+ cycle rides today and yesterday and before then 5km runs) so at least my fitness isn't suffering as well. And I'm getting fed up now (literally) and keen to get back on the wagon once the week is out. I just wish I had a better coping mechanism than food when I get hormonal and stressed...

Giddyaunt18 · 01/06/2017 08:31

I meant savoury in my last post not sorry! Hi Bumble it's great that you've been so active on holiday. Holidays are not for worrying about food so just enjoy and get back on it when home. No I didn't build up to it, it happened by chance on the first day(Saturday), I woke up late, did some exercise, had a shower and then it was 11am so I thought i'd wait. it was mainly because I had a drink on Friday night and wasn't intending to so was trying to balance out cals a bit. Then I remembered the overnight fasting thing and carried it on. Today is day 6 without breakfast and I feel great. I make tea and then keep busy until then but I think with 16:8 you don't have to go that long. If you finish eating at 6pm then you can eat again at 10am.

Chinnychinnychinnychib · 01/06/2017 13:03

Thanks. So today I have had 0% Greek yoghurt with half a banana (did nicked the other half), a slice of pineapple and some grapes. Had a skinny cappuccino whilst out and for lunch I was surprised to see a whole tin of tuna has 99 calories! Added a dessert spoon of light mayo and 75g baguette. So hopefully will have less hunger pangs today. Am going to go for a run later, hopefully that'll boost the calorie allowance up so I can have a glass of wine!

Herbie58 · 01/06/2017 15:36

So what is it with the absolutely ravenous appetite right before AF?

Is it not bad enough that you bloat, gain water weight (which makes the scales a bitch) that Mother Nature had to make us want ALL. THE. CARBS. AND SUGAR!!!

Have settled for strawberries so far...but my brain is thinking about food every 2.2 seconds 🙈

Yesterday I had:

B - protein shake with water
L - protein shake with water
D - vegetable coconut curry
S - Apple, mini milk and a slice of ham

Today

B- protein shake with water
L - crayfish salad
S - Apple (so far)

Dinner unplanned!

Sure as eggs I'll get on those scales on Saturday with AF and weigh about 4lbs more 😢

Herbie58 · 01/06/2017 15:37

Oops and strawberries

PaintingOwls · 01/06/2017 18:12

Try not to worry, Herbie. Guess where my period was in the last month? Wink

Giddyaunt18 · 02/06/2017 08:49

Painting Your graph looks like owls ears, you literally are painting owls with your weight! Grin

Herbie58 · 02/06/2017 09:00

That's super reassuring! Thank you!

I got on the scales this morning and sure enough after 2 weeks on resolutely sticking to the diet I still weigh exactly the same. I'm hoping once AF comes and goes to show a drop.

Orangecake123 · 02/06/2017 14:01

Legs really ache from running yesterday.

My weight is up by 3 pounds, so I don't have a real value for this week. . I feel rather yucky, but still went gym this morning.

What is everyones plan for the weekend?

PaintingOwls · 02/06/2017 22:00

Hahaha it does, Giddy, I hadn't spotted that!

Herbie I hope you're right, but also consider measuring progress in other ways, e.g. inches etc. As I said up thread, I also try a pair of target jeans in every couple of weeks, which has the added benefit of assuring me that I'm not just losing water weight.

Well done for sticking with it Orange! It'll pay off. How far did you run?

I'm in Bath this weekend so my plans are nice food and lots of walking.
