Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

oh dear i went off the rails over the weekend and now feeling a bit hormonal and can't stop eating ...

Bumblebzz · 22/05/2017 13:57

Can you get yourself away from food (I mean literally physically remove yourself) and go for a walk or a swim or something to clear your head? It's only a blip so don't beat yourself up about it either....

theredjellybean · 22/05/2017 14:01

thanks bumble...your right..i am going to take dogs walking..good idea..

Giddyaunt18 · 22/05/2017 14:53

Hi, all. Glad you're felling better bumble and yes jelly the urge will pass, lots of water and distraction. I'm due on so am sporting a rather round tummy and sore boobs. Not even gonna bother weighing until it passes.

PaintingOwls · 23/05/2017 07:51

So I've gained about 0.7kg over the last 2 days, despite running on Saturday and a 2 hour bike ride on Sunday. I obviously can't walk anywhere because of this bloody ankle, and I'm due on, and I'm on a course and they're are endless biscuits ... Excuses, excuses.

I'm going to focus on the course this week and passing that, and won't weigh myself until after my period is over because this is stressing me quite a bit. I'm hoping my ankle will be OK for Saturday to run because I'm away the weekend after that and don't want to miss 2 weeks of running in a row and start falling into bad habits.

I've stayed within the calorie allowance, but obviously the sugar has stuck to me, so to speak. The food on the course is awful so I've brought my own lunch today, plus fruit for snacks instead of the biscuits.

I hope you're all doing better!

theredjellybean · 23/05/2017 10:04

POwls...i have gained 0.7 kg too..after blow out weekend and hormonal hunger yesterday...i managed to shift 0.1 kg by doing 8 km run this morning...also not going to weigh until friday. I am menopausal and still get really bad bloating every few months...just try not to take it as a personal failure. Dont weigh, eat well and do not panic

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 23/05/2017 11:11

Ha! I've gained too. 10 stone 2 today. I just keep losing and putting on the same pound or two. BORING.

Let's all drink a litre of water in the next two hours to get us through to lunch and to help shift the bloating weight!!!!

Orangecake123 · 23/05/2017 11:57

I'm feeling much more tired and crying a lot more. I weighed in on monday- hormones definitely at play a week before, so no more weight updates.

I have two rest days a week, and just find myself rather restless on them. I did 16 mins yoga and i'm just going to go for a long walk today.

Hope you guys stay strong!

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 23/05/2017 13:49

Positive update... went out at lunchtime today from work and even though I haven't lost any more weight I GOT INTO A SIZE 10 DRESS!!! COMFORTABLY!!!!! And it looked ok!!!!!!

I didn't buy it. I bought licorice from the health food shop instead as a reward to myself, and am now munching my way through it.

Damn.

Springtimeismyfave · 23/05/2017 14:27

Hello

Can I join in please? I'm currently 9st 11lb when my normal/ ideal weight is 9st. I put it all on during a recent period of stress and now can't shift the chocolate habit to lose it!

Blumkin · 23/05/2017 14:44

Can I join too please - I understand kg not stones, so hope that's ok.

I've been going to the gym and pool for the last 5 months, just building up my fitness and stamina but to tone up and lose weight too. It was going so well, I was losing 1.5kg a month but for the last 6 weeks I've just been stuck at 71kg. I managed to get down to 70.3 one morning but by the next day it was back to 71.... And now I'm starting to get frustrated with any lack of progress

Orangecake123 · 23/05/2017 15:48

Hello Springtimeismyfav and Blumkin ;)

Blumkin- it sounds basic but do you know your BMR and are you weighing and logging everything you're eating on myfitnesspal or something like that? It will help give you a guide on average how many calories you're eating a day.

Giddyaunt18 · 23/05/2017 17:03

Hi all and newbies. I definitely think the weather here in UK is helping. Drinking lots of water and baring more flesh makes me more determined. There is another thread about how much the Middleton sisters weigh and whilst it's not nice to body shame any shape , I do wonder how little some people must eat to get that thin. I am eating around 1500 cals per day and am 9st 11at 5ft 5 , the weight should be dropping off me!! Grrrr pre menstrual!

Bumblebzz · 23/05/2017 22:28

@Giddy they'll have an army of chefs, dietitians, personal trainers and massage therapists so it's never a fair comparison! We're all doing great. The way I look at it is one blip here or there is fine considering every day used to be like that before!
I tried on some clothes in a shop today and I definitely saw a difference in fit/size. Unfortunately nothing was nearly nice enough to buy (but that's already covered at length on a thread in S&B!).

NewYearNewNickname · 24/05/2017 07:11

Still 9st 13.6lbs here again this morning (was 9st 12.4 yesterday!!) and only one more weigh in at home before hols. We are self catering in a mobile home type thing in France so theoretically it should be possible not to gain while away, especially as we will cycle every day and I am planning on swimming every day too. Also considering planning some body weight curcuits to try and counter balance the cheese, croissants, wine, ice cream etc etc that I will be consuming.

I know the losses haven't been great but I still feel really positive about it. I don't want to be obsessive about what I am eating, want to allow myself treats etc whilst also keeping a check on my weight and health and I feel like I am achieving that. Essentially we are all doing something positive and our weight has decreased since we started this thread and even if it hasn't gone down as much as we would like it is still better than it slowly creeping up and us not doing anything about it.
Basically I guess I just want to say lets be kind to ourselves, not get thrown off course by slower than desired results and keep plodding onwards!

Aaaand just like that, I dropped half a kilo over night. So much for not weighing myself!

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 24/05/2017 10:25

PaintingOwls the daily weighing is a nightmare isn't it, but I can't help myself.

I have also dropped a pound overnight. The same pound, as I mentioned before, that keeps dropping off and popping back on...so I don't feel overly excited about it today!

New that is a lovely post and so true. We are all doing something, which is better than nothing, and if nothing else we are stopping what seemed - for me - to be an 'inevitable' weight gain as I approached middle age.

I have decided to stop thinking about my mythical target weight of 9 stone 7, and instead to start thinking about the really achievable target weight of 10 stone exactly, which is only one pound away. Even if it takes me a week or two to get there, it will be a huge achievement. I can worry about 9 stone 13 later!!!

Good luck everyone for a healthy day today. Weather is stunning so let's down the water in buckets and think about how much we have got to be grateful for.

Bumblebzz · 24/05/2017 11:55

Hear hear!!

Giddyaunt18 · 24/05/2017 15:27

Yes Always you're right. Have just looked at some before and after pics on google images and they have given me hope . Some amazing results on there. Wobbly, flabby bits can be tamed!!! My exercise bike comes tonight, going to give it some welly!

Giddyaunt18 · 24/05/2017 19:47

Ok so my exercise bike arrived and it's fab. Wasn't expecting much for £65 but it feels really sturdy. I've just done 25 mins of intermittent hard bursts and I am sweating and a nice shade of pink but the endorphins are flowing. Smile

Orangecake123 · 25/05/2017 11:51

Fab news Painting!

That sounds brilliant Giddy! Where did you buy it from? Keep cycling every little thing does help.

This is the bike.I hopped on the scales this morning and am still 9st 11 but I am really chuffed as period has just started and my tummy is bloated etc so I am hoping that when this passes a pound or 2 will go with it. I have stuck to this way of eating :My own variant of the NO S Diet(No snacks, seconds or sweet unless the day starts with S) but healthy meals with portion control, especially of carbs and only alcohol on Sat and Sun too. Plus I am drinking loads of water which isn't hard in this glorious weather.

PaintingOwls · 25/05/2017 22:35

Tomorrow ends my week from hell. I feel like I am basically a giant walking bloody biscuit.

OwlinaTree · 26/05/2017 06:54

Hi all, haven't checked in for a while. Last week I stayed the same, but this week I've lost 2.5lb, so I'm 9st 7.5lb now! Hoping to lose at least that half a lb this week, but I'm planning an off plan Chinese takeaway on Saturday night, so I'll be pleased if I don't put on at all this week.

Started another thread about not being sure what weight I want to get to! I want something maintainable, preferably size 10 which is what I was comfortably pre children. I think I'm going to try and lose another half a stone to 9 and see where I am then. Any advice on setting a goal?

Giddyaunt18 · 26/05/2017 06:59

Morning all.

Well done Owlina !

What's up Painting ?

Whoop whoop a pound off this week so 9st 10lb after stalling at 9st 11 for 2 weeks. Maybe the exercise bike is making a difference too but I have stuck to 3 healthy meals and NOTHING BETWEEN MEALS. I needed to see that drop today. Hope you all have good results too.
