Small amount to lose but want support?

Just weighed in after a couple of short breaks. I was allowing myself to eat / drink what I wanted and knew it would result in a gain which is fine but just feel I need to get straight on to losing it.

I am 5ft 5, 43 years old and this morning weigh 10st 4.6lbs. I want to lost at least half a stone, ideally 9lbs.

I know there are obviously lots of other threads available but often people have longer term goals on them. I started a "less than a stone" thread before and it was quite busy so thought I'd give it a go again Smile

9st 11lb still but am going to weigh in tomorrow in case my body likes 8 days instead of 7 like last week! Wink

Good luck weighers!

butlerchauffer · 19/05/2017 08:04

Morning. A teeny tiny shift today by 0.8 lb to 10 0.2 but I'll take it! Shame the elusive 9 hasn't appeared yet but I did load up on carbs yesterday as I was frankly ravenous after a HIT workout Wed eve & yoga Thurs am !

Been doing the No S - no snacks, seconds or sweet things and it's really hard but great discipline and means I don't have to overthink what I'm eating. Also 'allows' a treat on Sat / Sun and I think will be sustainable long term - frankly it's going to take ages for this half stone to come off so need a sensible plan.

I agree with Giddy that water retention can be an issue in weight and that avoiding salty things before weigh in day is a good idea. Also, I think eating loads of veg the day before weigh in might tip the scales - bulky so you could make the evening meal before an omelette or something small ( unlike my huge qourn and lentil lasagne last night!) It's not going to make any difference in the long run obviously but sometimes it is disappointing not to see a shift.

Good luck everyone, thanks for all the tips and shares :-)

theredjellybean · 19/05/2017 09:08

73.0 kg dead on today ..so thats 1.7 kgs in two weeks, thrilled !!!
This thread is such a simple thing but has really made me stop the snacking...i am still eating well, and last 3 nights had a goodly quantity of wine :)
Upped my running aswell to 10 k each run...and making myself go out whatever the whether ( or mild hangover) every other day , no excuses anymore

I can really see 70 kgs as acheivable

hope everyone else is feeling positive

Wtfdoicare · 19/05/2017 09:09

Something must have gone right yesterday. Weighed nearly 2lb less this morning compared with yesterday morning. Sure it is probably a blip as I can't see that that is actual weight loss in 1 day, but I have been mindfully eating, cutting down on sugar/fruit/snacks, and having a later breakfast.

Thanks Giddy for the omelette tip. I think I may have over done it on the vegetables.

Orangecake123 · 19/05/2017 09:56

Well done everyone- awesome work!

I'm happy- down 0.3kg to 71.6kg, so a full pound this week, including Mondays result. I'm working out the same, but the previous week I was eating 1800 calories, but I cut this to an average of 1500 now. I didn't exactly feel much hungrier, so It was more doable.

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired · 19/05/2017 10:53

Well done everyone! Great work for the losses!!

NO WEIGHT LOST AGAIN FOR ME!!

10 st 1 lb today, same as last Friday.

I do keep reminding myself that I am still a stone and a half lighter than I was a few months ago, but it is getting depressing not to see any movement on the scales when I am eating so healthily.

I am going to push hard to have a healthy, low-carb weekend. I am SO desperate to see 10 st 0 and then 9 st 13. Just getting bored of being stuck at the same place now, even though I keep reminding myself that sometimes just keeping the weight off is a huge achievement when you've been losing.

Happy weekend everyone.

Orangecake123 · 19/05/2017 11:59

@AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired

Have you taken any other measurements and photos that could show your progress? How do you feel? Are you weighing everything your eating?

PaintingOwls · 19/05/2017 11:59

AlwaysHungryAlwaysTired

If you haven't already, take photos of yourself at each milestone r o look at when you're feeling frustrated. It's really motivating and you can see the progress over 2-4 photos!

Today I weighed in the same as yesterday, 64.9kg! As I'm going to Parkrun tomorrow I'll allowed myself a jam doughnut (174 calories from the co-op!) for a colleague's leaving celebration thing later today.

Bumblebzz · 19/05/2017 12:13

Hi all

Great to see all the successes!
I weighed myself yesterday and felt a bit disheartened because if anything my weight looked higher (i don't have a very high-tech scales so i have to squint to see and even then it's just to the nearest kg or lb).
Does anyone just avoid weighing themselves?
I feel like I am eating super healthily, I am sticking to my daily calories and following no S principles, and doing plenty of exercise. I am also getting used to feeling hungry all the time between meals! So I feel like I am definitely making massive improvements to lifestyle, but seeing no improvement on the scales is suuuuuch a downer. I do feel a bit 'leaner' although of course I still have several kgs that need to go :)
Maybe I should take measurements instead (if I can find some tape)....

Has anyone else given up on the scales for a while?

theredjellybean · 19/05/2017 12:58

i did for approx 5 yrs
i absolutely endorse the go with how your clothes feel approach.
Sometimes i am more on the scales and findclothes feel looser...it doesnt make sense...

Bumblebzz · 19/05/2017 13:49

@theredjellybean it is weird, that's exactly how I've been feeling!

Giddyaunt18 · 19/05/2017 16:18

Well done all on the losses. Although mine was the same, my tummy definitely feels flatter and my skirt looser today. I know what you meanalways but it's only a matter of time and the scales will catch up . Don't give up!

PaintingOwls · 19/05/2017 16:53

I had a second doughnut and now I only have 400 calories left for dinner.

Sigh.

NewYearNewNickname · 20/05/2017 08:25

Hi everyone, sorry I disappeared for a while!!

Haven't had a chance to read back through the thread but will catch up later.

Been a tough couple of weeks and right after I last posted I gained 2lbs overnight which have been slow to come off even though I have been weighing portions, eating healthily and exercising but I am very pleased to say that I have still plodded on and this morning I was 9st 13.6lbs so finally got (just!!) under 10st Grin

Am going on holiday early Friday and I really wanted to be 9st 10 / 9st 11 by then so I had leeway to put on 4 or 5 lbs while away. Don't think I'll be where I want to be by then but at least it will still be lower than if I had done nothing, although it is totm atm and I usually retain weight up to that then drop a couple of pounds during so we'll see.

Diet wise I am actually finding it quite easy now. I have really cut down on the wine, didn't even have a glass lastnight and did say to DH that I am not going to now until we are in France. Had a day out with friends last weekend so did have cake and wine then but actually this is how I think it will be maintainable for me, sensible eating, less alcohol but the balance to allow myself treat days too.

Hope you are all still doing well and so glad to see the thread is still going strong!! Grin

Giddyaunt18 · 20/05/2017 08:46

Well done NewYear that's great that you stuck at it.
I'm reading the NoS diet(No snacks, no seconds, no sweets unless an S in the day) at the moment, can't remember who mentioned it upthread but thanks for the link. It mentions holidays and I can't think of a better way to do it. I'm going to follow it on holiday too, as you can eat any food(not sweet) as long as it's one plate, 3 times a day. I don't really have a sweet tooth so I know it's easier for me.
Just weighed in and have lost another 1/2 lb since last Saturday so 9st 10.5. I know it's probably a minor fluctuation in water but since I started at 10st 2 a month ago, my BMI has gone from 23.6 to 22.6 and my tummy feels flatter. My initial goal is 9st 7 so it's going to be tough when we are not overweight.
Have a good weekend all!

Giddyaunt18 · 20/05/2017 08:50

Also as my only exercise is briskly walking the dog daily for 40 mins (more at weekends) I realise that to shift the last few pounds I need to maybe do more intense activity. Going to get myself an exercise bike and do some HIIT training on it.

PaintingOwls · 20/05/2017 20:16

So 64.8kg this morning (yay) but awful run (boo).

I am craving sweet and junk food and I struggled to run, my ankles hurt, and got an awful time. I blame these things on the fact that aunt flow's visit is imminent.

I had a doughnut leftover from yesterday so I ate that for breakfast but there's nothing else in the house and I feel like climbing the walls ffs.

I had a hearty bean stew with couscous and smoked paprika for dinner and I'm going to try running tomorrow as well to pre-emtively burn calories. DAMN YOU, HORMONES!

PaintingOwls · 21/05/2017 09:46

It's a sprained ankle, fml

Giddyaunt18 · 21/05/2017 10:11

Just had a chia seed, cocoa and vanilla pudding for breakfast with raspberries . I made it last night and left it to soak up the milk overnight.Felt very indulgent but totally sugar free!

Bumblebzz · 21/05/2017 14:36

@Painting have you actually sprained your ankle :( ? I hope it's not a bad one. I did mine in in Dec and I was out of action for ages, but it was a severe ligament tear. Very very frustrating!
@Giddy please can you share your recipe? I need an alternative to frozen banana / cocoa powder / yoghurt

I feel very bloated at the moment but am sticking to the plan. Fruit and yoghurt for breakfast with 20g all bran to add some "crunch", followed by 90 mins tough/sweaty yoga. Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for lunch, with a large side of roasted veg. 2 rice cakes with peanut butter to beat the sweet cravings (which worked surprisingly well). Yum.

RedMetamorphosis · 21/05/2017 14:39

Hey all,

Coming very late to this. I'm 5ft 9 and looking to lose about 5kg.

Started my weight loss in January last year, starting weight was 80kg and I am currently 69kg. Although it's been a very slow weight loss, it's meant that I've managed to keep it off.

Not really got a date when I want to lose it by, but if I can get to 64kg and stay consistently there for the next 6 months, I will be more than happy.

Giddyaunt18 · 21/05/2017 15:21

Hi Bumble I made it up from what I could remember of a recipe. I used 3 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tsp cocoa powder, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, a few drops of vanilla extract and 120ml skimmed milk/any milk, a few berries. Stir and leave a few hours or overnight. Then before eating add a few more berries or banana or coconut flakes. i found it sweet enough without honey/maple syrup but add that if needed. I think some recipes say to blend the mixture but that's too taffy for me and I liked the texture ; a bit like chocolate caviar!

Giddyaunt18 · 21/05/2017 15:22

Faffy not taffy! I have nothing against the Welsh! Wink

FitbitAddict · 21/05/2017 15:24

Hello all, and well done losers!

No weight loss to report this week, so full steam ahead until we go away next Saturday. I did the 10 mile Pink Ribbon walk yesterday so that must have burned a few extra calories.

Bumblebzz · 22/05/2017 08:25

Weighed in today at exactly 67kg, so same as a week ago but I've managed to sustain the initial 2kg that I lost the first week or so so I'm content with this. More importantly I feel like my energy levels are much better (following the tired/flat week I had last week) so I'm optimistic for this as a permanent way of eating. I had a very sociable weekend but still managed to not go off the rails, whereas before if I had one big day or night I would just lose the plot and eat all round me for the next week. Maybe it's the multivitamins/zircon kicking in as well but I feel better than I have in ages.
Wishing everyone a great week, sunny weather on its way too!
