12 weeks to shape up and slim down..anyone with me?

So after another disastrous week on the diet front I am feeling pretty low. I hate the way I look, I feel so self conscious and generally feel pretty miserable. Despite this I just seem to be putting on more and more weight. I bought a new diet and exercise journal and it's a 12 week one so I was sitting here looking at the calendar and 12 weeks would basically take me to the start of the Summer and a few weeks before my birthday so I'm trying to convince myself that if I can stick to it once and for all I could make a big difference by then, ideally I'd like to lose 2 stone in that time.

So anyone else aiming to get slim for summer? What's the plan? Any tips, ideas, inspiration welcome...

Can I join too? 5'7 and 12 stone 10. I've followed the Harome diet before so am trying that again. Weighed myself Friday morning and have done quite well since then, although I did have 3 small squares of dark chocolate last night after a traumatic day that ended in collecting drunk teenage dd from her friend's! Angry

cheeseandcrackers77 · 12/03/2017 21:42

Another day over with. Steps are only 3115, expected though.

I am just over 1200 today.

Monday tomorrow and a work day so walking to and from the bus then a walk at lunchtime should help put the steps up.

garlicandsapphire · 12/03/2017 21:59

I'd like to join too - a week late! I'm 5'6 and the heaviest I've ever been at 13st 5lbs. So annoyed as 2.5 years ago I lost 2 1/2 stone and I've put it all on again. None of my clothes fit.

My target is for my summer holidays - the end of July - I'd like to lose 3 stone but thats ambitious in the time - so I'll say 2 stone.

I'm going to go low carb, no alcohol, and exercise. Went to pilates today - took some courage to go as I felt so crap about feeling so fat.

Today I've eaten cereal, a flatbread and taramasalata for lunch, mushrooms on toast for supper and snacking through the day a large yoghurt, 2 apples and a banana. Rather weird selection.

Howlongtillbedtime · 13/03/2017 06:46

I seriously need a kick!

In the last week I have put on 4 sodding pounds.

It is my totm which is always a dodgy time but bloody hell I am a Muppet.

I have used every excuse all week to not go to the gym and eat shite.

Why do I do this to myself? I am miserable about my weight but still continue like this.

I am embarrassed to post this but I am hoping it will give me the kick I need. Will go and read more of the thread and remotivate myself hopefully.

Started last Monday at 10st 7 and am 10st today I don't think I look any different but am feeling so much better about myself, I was so close to ordering a take away last night cos I was so starving when the kids finally went to bed but so glad I didn't now!

Howlong don't beat yourself up, today is a new day! Smile

Howlongtillbedtime · 13/03/2017 07:21

That's an amazing loss baileys well done and thank you for saying today is another day.

I am going to actually open the weightwatchers magazine and read it rather than just hoping I will lose weight by having it in the house.

And i can't do the gym today but I have no reason why I can't do it tomorrow so that is my plan.

Leavemealonepls · 13/03/2017 13:30

Does anyone else follow the Harcombe diet on here?

littlebillie · 13/03/2017 19:54

11000 steps and low carbs I fancy a Biscuitbut I going to resist

GirlFromTheNorthCountry · 13/03/2017 21:43

Hope you aren't too disheartened howlong We've all been there. The 'why do I do this to myself' is a question I've asked many times.

I'm feeling quite positive. I'm loving the Fitbit, I'm naturally quite a competitive person so think having daily steps/calorie/activity goals is good for me. Will see on thurs when I weigh myself. Am also trying to not follow any specific diet plan, just making healthier choices.

Nice work baileys 🙂

Howlongtillbedtime · 14/03/2017 09:14

Thank you , I feel like I have got myself back on track . Yesterday was a good day and i am thinking of getting another fitbit ( I put my last one through the wash Blush)
I definitely walked more when I had it.

Another good day planned here.

Good luck everyone.

Hello all!!

Am off out to buy weighing scales once I can get DS out of his sleep suit and into the bath. He's busy trying to crawl (no chance yet) so don't want to disturb him mid workout... Grin

Will be back later to share the results.

Should be okay- have cut almost all white carbs for 10 days now, but upped healthy fats so am getting enough cals for BFing.

Never thought I'd get sick of avocado but....

notanothernamechangebabes · 14/03/2017 09:24

Also - found v good dinner recipe for low carbers- on BBC good food- hob to table moussaka. Had it last night with green salad and was absolutely delicious.

Not one for the low fat crowd though.

littlebillie · 14/03/2017 21:49

11500 steps tonight, spiralizer courgetti Grin

73kittycat73 · 15/03/2017 00:32

littlebillie 11000 steps

Hi again all. Smile I asked to join a while ago and have slipped off the radar, oops. I weigh myself once a month and the last time I was 13 stone 12 lbs. Was 15 to start with so I've lost 16lbs so far.
littlebillie can you tell me how you rack up so many steps? I got myself a Fitbit Alta a few days ago and have been finding it hard to do 250 steps an hour! Surely you are on your feet for most of the day?

littlebillie · 15/03/2017 06:44

I have a desk job and I drive. Yesterday morning I walked for 20 minutes near work I take trainers. When my kids were at an activity I parked up and went for a walk for an hour.

littlebillie · 15/03/2017 06:46

What day is the weigh in? It maybe useful to do on the same day?

littlebillie · 15/03/2017 06:47

The time it takes to reach 10,000 steps depends on intensity of steps taken. For moderate intensity, 100 steps per minute are taken and for vigorous intensity 130 steps per minute are taken. So, if the activity is moderate in intensity, it would take 100 minutes to reach 10,000 steps. From google

notanothernamechangebabes · 15/03/2017 06:51

Id be up for a communal weigh in... if only I could find somewhere that sells weighing scales?!?! Why does nowhere sell weighing scales any more!!??

I'll just HAVE to schlep to John Lewis then. Oh dear. Such a shame.

Baileys0Clock · 15/03/2017 06:59

notanother Argos sells scales, cheap too

Nottsangel2015 · 15/03/2017 07:27

Hi everyone and to those joined this week :-) not been on for a few days as have been so busy with work and poorly children!

Have managed somehow to lose 10lb since we began so two weeks ago! Am exercising most days and eating a combination of low carb and healthy eating, it must be working! Would love to low carb every day but it's hard when your trying to cook for the whole family without having to cook separate meals.

Leaveme I did the harcombe diet a few years ago and remember losing about a stone for my holiday, I had the book but I think it got lost when we moved, may have to have a read on Google to jog my memory as may be interesting to have a go when my weight plateau's to give my body a kick again.

I don't know how you all fit in 10,000 steps we go for a an hour to hour half walk whenever I'm working from home but still only manage to rack up 6000 odd! Plus dd 2 would go mad in the buggy any longer than that! We already do it around nap time but even then she wakes up before we have finished.

Notanother shall have a look on that website for that recipe as I'm low looking for inspiration for meals at the moment. When I track on MFP the fat percentage on my log always scares me but it must be working! Am keeping to below 100 on my normal healthy days and below 20-30 on my low carb days. I've treated myself to a bar of Lindt 90% dark chocolate, only 2.6g of carbs per square and they are big squares plus 1 is enough as it's super rich.

Not on a low carb day today just normal healthy eating. Meal plan as follows:
Breakfast - mixed berries and Greek yoghurt
Lunch - homemade veg soup (batch cooking) although am thinking about also making a crustless cheese and broccoli quiche to freeze for the week as I'm going to be really busy working so may have a slice of that instead with salad. Will see what I feel like at lunch
Dinner - salmon linguine (using wholewheat spaghett)
Have made some sugar free jelly to snack on

Garlic how did you find the Pilates class? I'd really like to get into that as it's supposed to be great for toning isn't it? Is it difficult?

Hope you all have a good day! X

busyboysmum · 15/03/2017 07:40

Hi. Can i join you please? I'm 5ft 7 and currently 11 stone 4lb. I've lost 8lb since Christmas. I'm following ww at the mo and weigh in with them today. I've had a bad week so will probably stay the same this week. If I've gained I will be gutted.

Exercise wise I'm doing Les Mills Body Pump and Body Balance classes which I'm seeing great results with.

HmmmHashtag · 15/03/2017 09:14

I'd like to join in please! I've been exercising 5 - 6 days a week for a few weeks now. My weight is actually increasing but I'm hoping it's just the exercise?! Shock

Leavemealonepls and Junebugjr hello! I put a post out ages ago seeing if anyone was doing Harcombe! Would love to chat - I'm currently not following it but am low carbing to a degree.

Leavemealonepls · 15/03/2017 12:34

Well I weighed myself this morning and I've lost 3 lbs in 5 days. Not bad really ... I was only following the Harcombe diet loosely. . I've been having cream in my coffee in the morning.

*Hmmm" it would be great to chat about Harcombe. .. I followed it strictly a few years ago and lost a stone but sadly put it all back on in the meantime and then some!

I'm going through a tough time with ill dd and just ended a relationship. I tend to comfort eat so am really struggling to stick to it. But I'm determined to lose weight for my holiday as I can't stand the sight of myself at the moment.

73kittycat73 · 15/03/2017 14:44
