12 weeks to shape up and slim down..anyone with me?

BeBe32 · 05/03/2017 15:46

So after another disastrous week on the diet front I am feeling pretty low. I hate the way I look, I feel so self conscious and generally feel pretty miserable. Despite this I just seem to be putting on more and more weight. I bought a new diet and exercise journal and it's a 12 week one so I was sitting here looking at the calendar and 12 weeks would basically take me to the start of the Summer and a few weeks before my birthday so I'm trying to convince myself that if I can stick to it once and for all I could make a big difference by then, ideally I'd like to lose 2 stone in that time.

So anyone else aiming to get slim for summer? What's the plan? Any tips, ideas, inspiration welcome...

Morning. So far i've had my morning croissant something I need to stop. I only do this 2 days a weeks though as it's easiest to have before work.

I have so far done 3928 steps.

I have a chicken salad sandwich for lunch. I do have a can of coke (again my usual) will try not to take this but it's a habit at work I have.

Will go out walking at lunchtime again so will try to boost my steps then.

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/03/2017 10:36

Can I join in ? I am 13:3 and sick of it .

I have signed up to do a 5k in May so really need to get my arse into gear as at the minute I can't even run outside because I have no confidence.

So today I am going to make a load of soup when I finish work to help keep me on track.

I am going to have chicken, salad and roast veg for dinner and sit and meal plan for the rest of the week which should help.

Good help everyone.

Howlongtillbedtime · 06/03/2017 10:39

I have just worked out I have 9weeks to go before the run so I really do need to sort myself out .Shock

notanothernamechangebabes · 06/03/2017 10:47

And me!!!

Started post baby diet today! Had DS 5 and a half months ago. Currently hovering at 11st ... am 5 foot 6. At my slimmest was 9st 7 but that was hard and involved running 10k 4x a week and personal trainer.... and basically not eating.

Aiming for sensible 10st or just under by September.

So if I lose 12lb in 12 weeks I'll be delighted!! Using MFP and aiming at 1800 cals per day (breastfeeding) and to start running again in a fortnight (when Dps hours at work change)

sonyaya · 06/03/2017 10:47

Morning everyone! Like shark I'm trying to shed the pounds for the wedding which is in around 12 weeks.

I'm 5'5 and just under 10stone so I'm not huge but I'm a weird shape where my arms and legs have all the fat and are disgusting.

I'm on my third week of 5:2 and have been seeing a personal trainer since December. Only modest losses so far - 2inches waist, 1 inch hips and only 0.5 inch off each limb Sad. I'm 3lb down only and that has been since 5:2 so I'm sticking at it.

cheeseandcrackers have you tried Coke Zero? I was a Coca Cola fiend but managed to switch to zero and it saves a lot of calories.

howlongtillbedtime you can totally do that! Running is a great thing to get into because once you're into it, you can do it wherever you are so even if on holiday or away for the weekend you can still keep fit. I used to hate it but then once you get over the pain of the first few runs, it becomes addictive. Too addictive in my case and now I can't run anymore as I knackered my knee doing it too much!!

notanothernamechangebabes · 06/03/2017 11:26

Can I just say... DS is v helpful with this dieting. Been asleep on me for an hour and a half. Darent move him. That's 90 minutes without a hobnob. You should all seize a sleepy child, drape them across you and watch the pounds (and your arm) drop off.

cheeseandcrackers77 · 06/03/2017 12:59

Just back from my lunchtime walk. Steps now at 7674.

I've so far avoided my coke. I don't take diets drinks or low fat anything. I'm in the camp of full sugar but moderate it rather than replace sugar with chemicals in diet drinks. That's just my view and I know not everyone agrees but that's okay to have different opinions it's about what works for you Smile

My other drink is soda water and lime. This works out at 21 calories so not bad. I take that to work too so havING that now.

No idea whats for dinner tonight will decide when I get home.

Nottsangel2015 · 06/03/2017 13:27

Hi everyone shark we do sound similar looking forward to encouraging each other :-)

Just come back from our lunch walk, can only do on the days I work from home tho, at 8161 steps! Done about 6k! My fitness pal telling me I've burned 200 calories is that about right? Sounds a bit low to me for someone larger?

Just having home made veg soup and having steak salad for tea so going good today :-)

also went to babygroup this morning and was talking to one of the mums their and she does low carbing 3 days a week then eats healthy and normal the rest of the weak may give this a go as low carbing sounds like hard work! She lost 6lb in a week so that would be amazing to achieve and give a good boost to the start.

Hope your all having a good day :-) x

I have no kids so this must be where I am going wrong! Can I borrow yours?!Wink

cheeseandcrackers

I think you're right about the diet/low fat stuff. It's just full of chemicals which isn't good for me so I'm trying to cut down on Coke Zero. Also I read your body assumes it will get calories when you drink it and when it doesn't, you get an insulin spike (or something) which promotes weight gain.

nottsangel

Sounds really healthy today, well done! I'm no expect but I think 200 sounds about right?

I'm on a fast day today for the 5:2, had nothing at all to eat so far and looking forward to getting home to have my vegetable soup Smile

Ledkr · 06/03/2017 17:48

Good day so far. We are being ofsted'd so stress is really high so people have brought in cakes and treats. I'm proud to say I had a cake free day!
Had overnight oats, fruit then slimming world soup and more fruit.
I'm off to clubbacise later and then eating dds cookery from school for tea. Spaghetti and meatballs Grin

notanothernamechangebabes · 06/03/2017 18:47

sonyaya right now I I would HAPPILY give him to you. For at least a week. He's in the middle of a wonder week. It's making him.... challenging.

I actually just almost cracked. He's refusing to sleep despite being shattered, and getting more and more worked up.

There was a bar of dark chocolate in front of me... but shoved it in the back of the cupboard and had a tiny scrape of peanut butter insteadGrin

Today eaten (still exclusively bf-ing DS, hence the carbs...)

Breakfast- gluten free brown roll, peanut butter, a banana and a tangerine
Snack- grapefruit juice and another tablespoon peanut butter (I'm addicted. It's not good).
Lunch- light mozzarella ball, small avocado and tomatoes. Big packet of mango.
Dinner will be a lamb and veg stew with spelt dumplings, cavalo Nero and French beans.

Not enough water!!!!

10k steps and lots of 20lb DS hoisting!!!

GirlFromTheNorthCountry · 06/03/2017 21:30

Can I join in please? Currently at slimming world but feeling a bit disheartened with it all- leader is crap so am basically paying 5 quid to be weighed each week. I thought I'd post stats on here each week if that's ok? Will weigh myself in the morning and post each wed to see if that can keep me on track.

My main issue is eating when I'm bored, or because I think I deserve a treat. Once I start I find it difficult to stop but need to change my eating habits as I don't want to pass them on to my daughters. I would love to lose about 4 stone overall.

SharkSkinThing · 06/03/2017 21:37

Nice work, everyone, sounds like we are all making good first steps.

June I'm intrigued by the Harcombe diet. You really found it worked as I might give it a go?

I'm exhausted after yoga so will catch you all tomorrow. ✊

cheeseandcrackers77 · 06/03/2017 21:47

Sounds like everyone is doing okay today.

I did 10007 steps (last 150 were me pacing about to get to 10000 lol)

Didn't have my coke with I am really pleased about.

Dinner was something quick but I swapped oven chips for new potatoes as they were less calories.

So my end calories were food 1367 + exercise 221 left me with 54 remaining.

I'm aiming for 1200 calories a day though not going to feel bad if i'm a little over as it's all new to me.

73kittycat73 · 06/03/2017 21:48

Hi, mind if I join? I started off this year at 15 stone exactly (5' 6 1/2 "). I lost 9lbs in January with diet alone. Last month I started exercising (25 mins a day exercise bike. Bit of strength training for the chest and some stomach exercises.) and got weighed yesterday. I lost 7lbs. However, I think I've undone loads of it! I had a belated pancake (Covered in maple syrup. Yum Grin ) yesterday and then the floodgates opened. I had a whole pavlova, some lemon meringue pie, crisps (4 packets!) and popcorn.
Today I was going to get back on it but remembered I'm having Dominos pizza tomorrow night so thought I would start again after that so have pigged out again today. Bit disappointed in myself as I've probably undone a lot of hard work! Angry
I'm getting a Fitbit Alta on Friday to hopefully spur me on more and motivate me. I weigh once a month, usually around the 6th.
I look forward to chatting with you all and spurring each other on! Thanks for the thread BeBe32! Smile

SharkSkinThing · 07/03/2017 06:08

Don't worry, 73kitty - I'm here for similar reasons!

LiveLifeWithPassion · 07/03/2017 06:22

Yesterday was ok-ish food wise except 2 little biscuits I had.
The rest of the day I had 1 slice of toast, a green and grains soup from pret and Dahl and rice for dinner.
I had a busy day and walked loads.
I don't think I drank enough water though so I'm going to up that today.

Sweepingchange · 07/03/2017 06:39

Is it too late for me to join please? I too like the idea of a 12 week plan.

I am only on here intermittently ATM as living between two locations but will pop in from time to time if that's OK?

I am the largest I have ever been ATM at 14 stone/89 kilos (172 cm/5 ft 7ish).

Feel very unfit and have huge bulges where there shouldn't be bulges! Also, a couple of coats and clothing items I bought only last year, don't fit me anymore!

Plan is to:return to meal planning, reactivate pedometer, cut down on bread intake, cut down on portion sizes and not eat Se o ds

Sweepingchange · 07/03/2017 06:44

Argh, posted too soon!

Not eat seconds, or thirds , cut out alcohol during Lent and after that, only drink on one weekend everyone, cut out all snacks, eat earlier in eve, track and log everything with diary and weight loss chart, and get my patchwork and sewing projects organised (because snacking and fabric do not mix!!)

Good luck to everyone on this thread!

Sweepingchange · 07/03/2017 06:46

Oh yes, nearly forgot, home made soup is going to be another weapon in my armory too!

Sweepingchange · 07/03/2017 06:48

Argh again, that shd have read, only drink wine in moderation on one weekend eve

littleredlipstick · 07/03/2017 07:13

Hi Can I join in as well.

5ft 2" will weigh myself later as on way to work. I have my lunch with me jacket potato salad and a tin of tuna and sweetcorn from the Aldi slimming range. Will try to pick up some fruit from work later on.

Going to try and do slimming world again and start c25k

73kittycat73 · 07/03/2017 07:49

Thanks SharkSkinThing. Smile I made myself stop eventually. Pizza tonight then back on it tomorrow! Smile

Nottsangel2015 · 07/03/2017 08:17

Good morning everyone and hello to those just joined in :-)

I'm going to be no carbing for the next 3 days and then normal healthy eating for the rest of the week.

Yesterday along with my walk also managed to do 30 mins on the exercise bike.

Anticipating will be a tough few days with no carbs, also trying to rack my brain for dinners we can all have together that can be adapted to no carbs so I'm not cooking us all separate meals!

Breakfast - will be scrambled egg
Lunch is a prawn and feta salad
Dinner - undecided going to check out the low carb board for inspiration.
Snacks - olives and cooked chicken and going to make some kale chips.

Hope everyone stays on track today :-) I'm working from home today and that can be a really bad time for me to snack continuously as my work area is in the dining kitchen. Going to try and stay strong! May pop on here for encouragement later lol x

Tiredemma · 07/03/2017 09:39

Count me in please.

4'11" in my socks and currently 10st6lbs (so I feel I look like a 'ball' when I look in the mirror).

I joined the gym last week and had a PT session yesterday(free one to 'lure' me in) and I thought I was going to die.

Just went on a 50 Min dog walk but plan to do some classes at the gym most days.

When I lost weight before I found I had more success by Intermittent fasting (16.8) so will do that again and only eat between 12-8.

Im also going to cut out the crap carbs.

my dear Mom passed away last week so I found myself comfort eating massively over the past few days and put on 4lbs. This needs to go. If I could get down to about 8st 7 I would be delighted but being realistic, even getting down to about 9st would be great.

So today im starting again and putting more effort in.
