12 weeks to shape up and slim down..anyone with me?

BeBe32 · 05/03/2017 15:46

So after another disastrous week on the diet front I am feeling pretty low. I hate the way I look, I feel so self conscious and generally feel pretty miserable. Despite this I just seem to be putting on more and more weight. I bought a new diet and exercise journal and it's a 12 week one so I was sitting here looking at the calendar and 12 weeks would basically take me to the start of the Summer and a few weeks before my birthday so I'm trying to convince myself that if I can stick to it once and for all I could make a big difference by then, ideally I'd like to lose 2 stone in that time.

So anyone else aiming to get slim for summer? What's the plan? Any tips, ideas, inspiration welcome...

Thanks for the welcome

And I'm very sorry for your loss TiredEmma

Can I join too . I weighed myself yesterday and am 13st 11 . Feel disgusted . Good thing is I'm off bread and sweet stuff for lent and mostly have been good since last Wednesday.

I have a christening to go to in 5 weeks . Can I realistically lose 10 lbs by then ! It would be great . I too am aiming for 10000 steps most days .

sadallthetime · 07/03/2017 10:01

Tiredemma I am sorry about your mum .

Orangecake123 · 07/03/2017 15:23

I'd like to join ;). I need to lose 17 pounds just to get my BMI back in the healthy range.

I'm doing the c25k program and try to go gym every other day. I've been to 5 cross fit classes before, but went back to my first class on sunday after a while and it was awful- i only managed to complete 30 mins before I started feeling sick and had to leave and threw up in the bathroom. I just felt so silly and out of place there. Lots off beautiful and fit individuals, but I'm going to go back next sunday. xD.

sadallthetime - It's definitely possible!
TiredEmma- sorry about your loss. Don't be too hard on yourself.

sadallthetime · 07/03/2017 18:20

Orangecake ( love the name ) thanks for your encouragement

cheeseandcrackers77 · 07/03/2017 21:09

TiredEmma sorry to hear about your mum Flowers

I am also 4ft 11 and just 2lbs lighter than you so will be good to see how we both get on.

Today I didn't have my coke at lunchtime bit I will admit to having a packet of maltesers.

I have only managed 8161 steps so far so doubt I will reach 10k as i'm in the bath now and heading to bed soon.

Tomorrow I won't be having my croissant for breakfast thankfully as it is 336 calories Shock but not in work now till Monday so I have a little while to work out a better breakfast for a work day. Probably Greek yoghurt and some fruit.

Plan on taking the dog for a bigger walk than normal tomorrow to get the step count up but so far 3 days in i'm feeling like i'm doing ok.

73kittycat73 · 08/03/2017 01:49

Tiredemma Flowers So sorry for your loss.

I have failed miserably today. Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate! I do have an excuse though. I am agoraphobic and had to go out for a dental check up (All clear, yay! Grin ) so to help me cope I had Diazepam. 20mg last night and 20mg today. Makes me a bit out of it and tired so not conductive to slimming. That's what I told myself anyway! Grin
Definitely starting again tomorrow. Have got salad and fruit in. Will be back on the exercise bike too. Glad to read you are all doing well. Smile Lets keep up the good work ladies! Grin

R3ALLY · 08/03/2017 02:01

Just saying hi! Would love to lose a stone by summer but would settle for 8lb in 12 weeks . Good luck everyone

Sweepingchange · 08/03/2017 10:56

I had a terrible day yesterday in terms of diet and on Mon too if I am honest. (Bit disappointing because I did fairly well last week.)

No excuse because I am solely responsible for what I cram in my own gob as it were Grin but my dh is a very good cook and "a feeder". There is nothing he likes more than seeing everyone enjoy all of his creations. Thankfully (or I would be even larger than I am now) he travels quite a bit.

Not helped by the fact that my dd is on the very lowest weight percentile for a 13 yr old of her height and the doc has suggested that I feed her five times a day (she eats well it's just she has to eat immediately she is hungry or she loses her appetite for some reason, and when she eats she doesn't have enormous 'capacity' ifsywim ie she feels full quite quickly). So I made her an apple pie yesterday and loads of creamy mash to go with cod in the evening. Trouble is, I end up indulging too ... .

HAVE to be more disciplined about this and I didn't have any breakfast at all today and am trying to go through until lunch without any snacks at all. This is an improvement, as normally as I would give up after a setback but I am determined to draw the reins back in today again so thank you for all the support on this thread and sorry for whinge!

MelinaMercury · 08/03/2017 11:00

Hi, can I join?

I've got a LOT to lose but in breaking it into chunks so it's not quite so daunting. I don't lose weight fast so if I can lose a stone I'll be happy.

Im 5'3 and 16st 2.5lbs Blush

Not sticking to any plan just eating less and moving more :)

sadallthetime · 08/03/2017 11:08

Sounds like we all having up and downs . Had a good day yesterday but just fell short of 10000 steps . Will aim to break that today . My biggest problem is my big fat tummy . It's so uncomfortable now and in the way . But I'm determined not to buy bigger trousers and hopefully in another few weeks I'll be a little more comfy .

GreyandGrumpy48 · 08/03/2017 11:29

Had a good day Monday but went off the rails yesterday and this morning. I need to understand why I can't commit to this when I really need to lose weight to be healthy and enjoy my hobbies more 😞

HopefullyDothButterNoParsnips · 08/03/2017 11:42

I would like to join please! Where did you get the diet journal from? I've been looking for one for ages!

Orangecake123 · 08/03/2017 11:49

Yesterday: heavy therapy session and I really binged on 3 snicker bars in a row, but not because I was even hungry. But overall I'm still down a pound.

Back at the gym today- Timed the walk to the gym approx 25 mins there and back. Week 6 day 3 of C25K completed. I honestly would recommend this app to everyone. I never thought I could be a real runner but it builds you up slowly over 9 weeks and you could repeat if you have to.

@Sweepingchange- You'r really not whinging. I like reading everyone else's responses.

notanothernamechangebabes · 08/03/2017 12:52

It's difficult when there's family considerations too, isn't it. My DP is super wiry and doesn't have to watch his diet or exercise. He has a physical job so needs lots of calories - most of which he wants in the evening or big weekend breakfasts... He's a 50 year old with a natural 6pack. Infuriating!!!! . Being 29 and the biggest I've been in years, postpartum etc I feel super weighty next to him - and being younger, feel like it's more pressure to be slim (not pressure from him- all self inflicted!!!)

I think for me, living on a boat with a galley kitchen means food is always just a few steps away- and when DS is being very ... energetic .... it can be q hard to resist the snacks!

Indulged in a small glass of wine and one measly dark chocolate truffle last night as a reward for a difficult afternoon with DS... but i refuse to consider that a fall off the wagon! Grin it was so small!!

73kittycat73 · 08/03/2017 14:05

Wow Sweepingchange that would be very hard to cope with. Maybe you could set your DP a challenge of coming up with some low calorie versions of meals? That way you could tell him (hopefully!) how much you enjoy them? He could still cook and you would receive the benefits.

Sweepingchange · 08/03/2017 14:07

sadallthetime same here re: fat tummy! The sad thing is that I have already bought larger-sized trousers and now they don't fit either Blush so I think you are wise to hang in there and resist!

Orangecake thank you Smile Congrats on the v. impressive running!

notanothernamechangebabes Wow re: living on a houseboat! Sounds fantastic! I know I am just going to have to accept the family considerations as they aren't going to change any time soon and keep strong (mainly through military planning). It's not easy though is it?

Waves to everyone else!

sadallthetime · 08/03/2017 15:24

Had a jacket potatoe, low cal coleslaw , low cheese spread and a spoon of baked beans for lunch . Best meal I had in ages ! I melted the cheese so it was lovely and creamy

Sweepingchange · 08/03/2017 17:18

That's a great idea 73Kitty thank you! Definitely going to try that! He definitely likes a challenge!

Then just have to tackle the portion sizes Wink

Nottsangel2015 · 08/03/2017 18:48

Hi everyone, sorry some of you have had bad days but mostly due to reasons which you shouldn't feel guilty about :-) tomorrow is a new day as they say!

Today is my 2nd low carb day and I feel really good, only 22g of carbs yesterday and 21 today. Not feeling like I'm missing out on anything either (yet) tomorrow is my last low carb day for a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are my low carb days now) going to try and keep my carbs below 50g where possible but going to have a great meal this weekend of a takeaway but will be keeping up my excercise and only ensuring it's one meal not a whole day!

Will be weighing myself on Friday to see if my 3 days of low carbs has worked and then weighing Monday to see if I've managed to keep off or lose more! Fingers crossed this works!

Good luck tomorrow everyone we will get there in the end :-) x

Ledkr · 08/03/2017 19:53

Having resisted the ofsted cake all week, I slipped and ate crisps today. I had a migraine with sickness and plain crisps help for some reason.
Am just waiting for dd to finish dance so I popped to Tesco for healthy food and left with gin!!!
I just fancied it Grin
Zumba tomorrow so ll try extra hard.

cheeseandcrackers77 · 08/03/2017 21:02

Ok today I have barley moved so steps just over 2k. Dog walk didn't happen. I wall already but DH said the weather was about to change and he would walk the dog later and I let him. If I don't do something when I am ready I lose interest later.

Also forgot we said to the kids we would go to the cinema. I was good only had a small popcorn and took a can of coke (my first this week) all added to MFP and I still have 314 calories left out of 1200.
I had hot water and lime for breakfast (wasn't hungry). Lunch was one egg screed and 2 rashers of bacon. Dinner was half a tin of tomato soup with a cheese and ham toasties (only 1 slice of bread). I am going to have some Mellon and a satsuma now and hopefully won'the have anything else.

sadallthetime · 09/03/2017 08:03

Cheese hope today will be better . I did 12000 steps yesterday. Dare I say it but I'm starting to feel the toning effect of exercise . Only felt it last night and it has giving me the motivation to keep on

sonyaya · 09/03/2017 08:36

Well done everyone! cheeseandcrackers you have more willpower than I do! I just can't help myself at the cinema. I went on Sunday and had an obscene amount of pick and mix.

sadallthetime yeah it totally takes a little bit of time to see results from exercising, and the worst thing you can do, which lots of people including me are guilty of, is stop after a short while because it hasn't worked yet. It's great that you're seeing results!

I have had a mixed week. Managed my two fast days back to back on Monday and Tuesday, but yesterday I had a chocolate binge Confused. I pulled it back, went to the gym and then was super healthy the rest of the day but so so annoyed with myself.

I also had a bad weekend because I ate loads of sweets at the cinema and was away at the in laws and had no control over what I ate so it wasn't very healthy.

Back on it today. I just need to stop undoing all my good work - just over 11 weeks till the wedding and I am running out of time!!

cheeseandcrackers77 · 09/03/2017 08:54

Sadallthetime well done on reaching 1200 steps. I hope i do better today than yesterday.

Sonyaya I confess I don't have a sweet tooth so pick n mix doesn't appeal to me neither do the big bag of sweets or the ice cream stand so i'm lucky that way.

Still in my bed. Just going to get up. No plans really for today but I think I will have Greek yoghurt and melon for breakfast.

Not sure about dinner will need to check the freezer.

Have a good day everyone xx
