Hi. Is my timing right for anyone else being ready to start losing weight? For me, the title says it all.

This time I am armed with a fitbit (which I am learning to operate), have paid membership for the local pool, have DH on side, have the Lent excuse ready at work and would love some vipers with which to go through this process.

Is there anyone ready to go, so we can comfort and cajole each other?

I love my carbs so this works for me! As I lose my carb allowance will get lower but they absolutely don't advocate low carb. The theory is that carbs are fuel and you need that fuel to have energy and focus. My exercise has been minimal tbh and I'm losing so I'm going with the carb love!

It's so hard with kids, Ds is the opposite end of the scale and verging on underweight and like you think he has a normal healthy diet and a decent amount of exercise. Would your dd exercise with you? It might sound daft but the plan I'm following talks about jalal- jump around like a lunatic - for the days you can't fit in exercise. It has changed the way I feel about exercise to a degree as me and Ds will put music in and dance, do star jumps, press ups etc. We're messing about but burning calories Smile

She does do Davina with me if she's up when I do it. I think discovering this will help me find my motivation exercise wise because I'll be doing it for her too.
I just put my numbers into the nhs bmi calculator and Ive only got 5lb to go before I hit healthy weight range Smile

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/03/2017 12:09

Ah well done, I've got 3 stone to get to healthy weight 😬 I'm feeling positive though - it didn't go on overnight so it won't come off overnight either!

StandAndBeCounted · 27/03/2017 12:39

Slow n steady is definitely the way and you sound like youve found your motivation and a plan that works for you.

Once Ive lost what I want to I plan to keep weighing weekly so that if it starts going on I can reign it in a bit

StandAndBeCounted · 27/03/2017 19:39

Today was a good day. I only had 1100 calories. No carbs. I walked to and from school am and pm totaling 6.8 miles and I got MOST of Davina's core workout done in the tiny gap where both the little ones were asleep at the same time.

And all this even though I was sooooo tired today. I pushed on through! X

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/03/2017 23:35

Well done 😊 I've got a long arranged working lunch tomorrow and I've pre ordered and made a balanced choice. Just need to remember to order water and not wine!

StandAndBeCounted · 28/03/2017 09:52

Ahhhhh sweet wine ...

EnglishGirlApproximately · 28/03/2017 10:58

Haha, I'm about to leave for my lunch and I WILL order water!

StandAndBeCounted · 28/03/2017 16:23

Did you order water?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 28/03/2017 18:35

Yes I did! 2 black coffeees and a water - quite impressed with myself!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 28/03/2017 18:35

Don't know where the spare e came from!

indignatio · 28/03/2017 21:41

Well done on not giving in.

I seem to be sticking to the calorie limit and not using my exercise calories. Apart from lunch out last week. I chose the least calorific dishes I could find, but when I checked online later, my two starters ( rather than a main course, ) was over 800 calories. Oops and I thought that I had made sensible choices.

I ended up under my calories today despite going for lunch, my Fitbit shows a 2500 calorie burn and I ate 1700 so a good deficit. Gym day tomorrow, wish me luck!

indignatio · 29/03/2017 05:34

Good luck English, you can do it.

Hi all, I dissapeared for a while but I am back and raring to go .

English How are you finding Richie Howie ? I am tempted to join on Fri but wanted to check if it was complicated first ?

I have been to the gym today and I am going to order a fitbit as well on Fri ( can you tell Fri is payday ? )

Good luck everyone

EnglishGirlApproximately · 29/03/2017 17:31

I'm finding it really good. It takes a while to work it out but once you're set up on mfp and know your macros it's fine. I'm coming under calories and close to macros every day by planning my food the night before.
I'm eating well and losing weight, so no complaints at all. It's £3.50 so not a lot to lose if it doesn't work out, and it's good humoured and a really supportive group. Give it a go, spend a few days reading and watching then join in. First week is simple calorie counting Smile

Howlongtillbedtime · 29/03/2017 17:38

Thank you english I think I will def join , I need to do something to sort myself out .

I am so bored and fed up of myself moaning and worrying about my weight.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 29/03/2017 18:21

howlong me too, I'm sick to death of not liking anything I wear and not feeling confident. This is the first thing in my life I've felt I can do as it's based in real food and exercise nothing else. Good luck Smile

EnglishGirlApproximately · 01/04/2017 09:33

So, as instructed by team rh I'm weighing daily and logging on my Fitbit, and I'm down 3lb in the last 7 days Shock I'm having to rethink everything I though I knew about losing weight and it's a real eye opener - I had a bagel with peanut butter and banana for breakfast!

Howlongtillbedtime · 01/04/2017 09:58

I joined yesterday . Going to work my way through the pinned post when I have a spare few hours ! It does look a bit complicated but I am sure I will get the hang of it .

Slightly worried that the booze seems to be a thing of evil though .

EnglishGirlApproximately · 01/04/2017 10:07

I had wine last weekend, loads on there do! It does dehydrate and slow down loss but as long as you know that it's fine. If you drink loads you'll struggle but it's fine for me, intend to have a glass a couple of tones a week.
Once you get into it and you've worked out your macros it's not complicated at all, I'm within a few grams every day and losing steadily.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 01/04/2017 10:08

times a week

EnglishGirlApproximately · 01/04/2017 10:34

This was shared this week which I think sums up the whole world of dieting, and made me think about it differently
