Hi. Is my timing right for anyone else being ready to start losing weight? For me, the title says it all.

This time I am armed with a fitbit (which I am learning to operate), have paid membership for the local pool, have DH on side, have the Lent excuse ready at work and would love some vipers with which to go through this process.

Is there anyone ready to go, so we can comfort and cajole each other?

Thanks stand eggs I'm good with! I don't dislike meat I just don't like it enough for it to be the main part of my meal iyswim? I'll take a look at that book Smile

Justalittlebitfurther · 05/03/2017 12:49

I'm using recipes from the kitchen shed blog/website as it suggests cutting out red meat, wheat, sugar and additives the recipes are really nice though. I have lost a lb since last week and I think that's mainly because my cravings have gone now I'm not eating sugar. My willpower seems much better. I have done SW before and lost a lot but due to stress and job changes I have put it back on. Also I am always eating when doing SW which means if I fall off the wagon I eat a lot of the wrong stuff. Has anyone got any suggestions for fitness DVD/ programs I could find on a smart TV. Thinking YouTube etc?

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 05/03/2017 13:10

Thanks I haven't started on any exercise yet, so the loss has purely been through what I'm eating.
We go away beginning of may and I'm hoping to have lost 1 1/2 stone by then. Not sure if I'll manage it.
I do weigh in on a Wednesday but happy to update here keep me on track Smile

StandAndBeCounted · 05/03/2017 17:28

Day One High Fat Diet complete with no slip ups. IF I manage not to eat again today. However, I'm REALLY not feeling Davina. Sooo tired (11 month old teether) and I can't do it till the babies go to bed

indignatio · 05/03/2017 18:40

Stand, sorry today hasn't been the day you wanted to kick start things. Davina looks exhausting, good luck if you go for it.

The book looks good.

Perhaps if we just post our successes (or otherwise) when they occur then everyone can stick to their routines.

Glen, we too love our meat (says the ex veggie) so I am quite happy to base a meal around that and the others have the carbs too. We all get the veggies!

Having measured out food v carefully for the lAst couple of days, to ensure I have enough calorie for my evening tipple, I think I will be giving up breakfast.

English, I have never found a lack of choice on low carb, but have missed certain carbs a lot in the past.

Just, apart from the red meat (for me) that blog sounds great. Sorry, can't help on fitness programs, swimming is all I can cope with.

Onestep, just update when you need to and congratulations on your loss.

Good day here I think. I swam further, faster and for longer than yesterday, even if the fitbit failed to count all the lengths! I'm looking forward to my supper of roast chicken and indulgent salad, I think I am under my calories for the day, hard to tell with this new gizmo.

What do you mean? Only post our weight loss results on weigh days?

indignatio · 05/03/2017 20:14

Yes, whatever day you decide you wish to weigh, then you do so and let us know how much of a success you have had. The power of positive thinking.

Morning everyone . I have weighed this morning and I am 13:3 so my first goal is to see 12 something on the scales .
I won't get a chance to go to the gym today because of work and a visit to a friend straight after .

But I am going to eat well and try and make soup later . I rely a lot on soup for lunch but normally have the fresh cartons and I am sure cooking it myself must be healthier .

I am thinking of getting another fitbit depending on finances . I loved doing the challenges .

Good luck everyone .

EnglishGirlApproximately · 06/03/2017 18:00

Evening all, well I braved the scales and I'm a hideous 16st 10 lb Shock The plus side is that the first bit comes off easier if there's a lot to lose. I've spent yesterday reading up on various diets and I'm still not sure which way to go. I don't think low carb will work for me totally so I'm doing good old calorie counting and using mfp to track my % of carbs etc. Based on last weeks meals my diet was about 65% carb, so I've set the tracker to aim towards 40% - lowering it significantly but still keeping it within what feels manageable.

Does that sound doable? I'd rather lose a bit slower but make it sustainable than go all out low carb then giving up after a week and stuffing my face with pizza!

Hope everyone's had a good start Smile

indignatio · 06/03/2017 20:27

Evening
Good day, hit the steps target and swam more than yesterday. About to tuck into a lovely looking salad, having had soup at lunch and a yogurt for breakfast. I am enjoying the food so far. Hoping my feeding of the info is correct as I am under the allowed calories.

Sorry I can't help on the percentages for carbs, hope someone will be along later who knows what they are taking about.

Hi Mind if I join? I'm getting a Fitbit Alta, hopefully on Friday. How have you found it indignation ? I weigh once a month, usually on the 6th. I started in February and have lost 1 stone 2lbs so far. I have started some gentle exercising too. (25 mins daily on exercise bike, chest exercises with weights and a few stomach exercises.)
However, I really fell of the wagon on Sunday. I think I've undone loads of it! I had a belated pancake (Covered in maple syrup. Yum ) yesterday and then the floodgates opened. I had a whole pavlova, some lemon meringue pie, crisps (4 packets!) and popcorn. Haven't done any exercise today either. Today I was going to get back on it but remembered I'm having Dominos pizza tomorrow night so thought I would start again after that so have pigged out again today. Bit disappointed in myself as I've probably undone a lot of hard work!
So, will be back on it on Wednesday. Would love to chat to you all and help/spur each other on. Smile Thanks for the thread indignation !

StandAndBeCounted · 07/03/2017 03:42

Don't beat yourself up kitty cat. We're all entitled to a blow out now and again! Your hard work was not wasted as if you hadn't done it you'd still be 1st 2lbs heavier than you are now!

The key when you fall off the waggon is mindset I think. You have to look at it as a blip and not as giving up. So long as you get right back on it it won't do all that much harm.

In other news, today (or yesterday even!) I finally did Davina! Was hard work after 4 weeks off! And I stayed on plan. I am really enjoying the food too, but I really struggle in the evenings. Can't get rid of the urge to snack on junk though I am resisting. I really missed wine today Sad

indignatio · 07/03/2017 03:52

Welcome kitty. I agree with Stand, the blip happened, you enjoyed it, line drawn and back to what has clearly been working so well for you. Congratulations on the loss so far. I am loving the fitbit, it makes me far more mindful of what I am doing and eating.

Stand, congratulations to you on Davina, are you another poor sleeper? I am not ready to lose the wine as yet, but finding not snacking easier than I thought. It was only day 3 I suppose.

OP posts:
StandAndBeCounted · 07/03/2017 07:29

Its my 11 month old teether who's the poor sleeper rather than me!

I haven't given up wine altogether, but I used to have a glass or 2 most nights and now I try to only have it on special occasions

73kittycat73 · 07/03/2017 07:46

Thank you StandAndBeCounted and indignation. Smile I'm going to try and stick to my calorie allowance until tea time. Pizza tonight then back on it tomorrow! Thanks again for your kind words. Smile

indignatio · 07/03/2017 22:09

Ok. Another busy work day, failed on the water, steps and exercise. Food was within the limits, so not all bad. Tomorrow will be better...

73kittycat73 · 08/03/2017 01:54

I didn't do to good today either indignatio. Well, there's no chocolate left in the house (Bar a small bag of Smarties for emergencies. Smile ) now (That I've eaten it all!) or crisps. I have fruit and salad in so if I want to eat, that will be it.
Be back on the exercise bike too tomorrow.
Good luck for tomorrow indignation. Smile

EnglishGirlApproximately · 08/03/2017 11:58

I've been following Richie Howie on FB for a couple of weeks and finally decided to join last night. It's £3.50 a month so thought it was worth a go - no contract so if it doesn't work out I'm only losing £3.50!

Spent the morning reading it all and watching his videos and it feels manageable - its calorie counting but not low cal, more about tracking macros in mfp, alongside exercise. They recommend going to the gym but do fb workouts and get that you might not be confident going to the gym straight away.
Food plans manageable, nothing forbidden as long as it fits your macros and calories. I actually feel like I can do this!

indignatio · 08/03/2017 21:41

Sounds good English

Better day today, ticked all the boxes, but busy day and very tired. Have to wait up for DD

Kitty, better luck tomorrow. Nothing left to divert you tomorrow

OP posts:
StandAndBeCounted · 09/03/2017 14:39

I don't understand macros at all! I'd love to learn.

So I've just had a sneaky weigh a day early. 3lb off in 6 days. I know its good, but I feel deflated. I've worked so hard. I just want it all to drop off.

Why oh why can't I be super slim and gorgeous whilst eating whatever I want, drinking loads of wine and never exercising?!! Sad

EnglishGirlApproximately · 09/03/2017 19:31

stand take a look at Richie Howie on Facebook, the main group is closed but there's plenty on the open pages to be reading. It's really achievable - my allowance is 40% protein, 40% each fat and carbs - up to you what you eat within that. Only a few days on and it's starting to click. On his website younout height, weight etc. in and it tells you what you can have.

I'm in the zone and 4lb off in 4 days so far, and I'm not hungry 😊

StandAndBeCounted · 09/03/2017 20:00

That sounds amazing English! Will deffo take a look! Thanks! And well done on your loss!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 09/03/2017 21:39

Thank you Smile It's early days but I feel confident this time. Tbh now I've cut out the crap I'm struggling to eat that many calories! Today was porridge and blueberries for breakfast, prawn & egg salad for lunch, bolognese, salad and baked potatoes for tea. Had an apple, a banana, a fibre one bar a skyr yoghurt and some roast chicken as snacks, 4 coffeees, 2 teas and I'm 100 calories short Shock

stitchglitched · 10/03/2017 08:44

Hi how is everyone doing? I've failed miserably this week on my VLCD. The food tastes foul and by mid afternoon I've been so hungry and shaky I've ended up stuffing my face with crap. The problem I have is I want to see fast results but I think I need something slower and more sustainable.

Just weighed in, no change from a weighed in, no change from a week ago. At least I haven't gained I suppose!

stitchglitched · 10/03/2017 08:44
