Hi. Is my timing right for anyone else being ready to start losing weight? For me, the title says it all.

This time I am armed with a fitbit (which I am learning to operate), have paid membership for the local pool, have DH on side, have the Lent excuse ready at work and would love some vipers with which to go through this process.

Is there anyone ready to go, so we can comfort and cajole each other?

Anyone still around? We seem to have gone very quiet Smile

I'm moving into week 3 of my plan next week so starting to exercise alongside the calorie and macro counting. I'm getting stuck straight into a boxercise class which will either give me a boost or kill me off! I'm now under 16st for the first time since I had Ds 5 years ago, on my 4st to go Shock

stitchglitched · 17/03/2017 11:29

I'm here! I'm still just avoiding the crap. Not really calorie counting but probably having about 1200 per day which is more sustainable. I'm going to bed hungry but trying to see that as a good thing and proof it's working rather than reaching for the chocolate or a mountain of toast like I would usually do!

Well done English, it is great when you go down into the next number, always gives a little boost. Do you have any thing you are using as motivation? I have a couple of big events later this year and a whole wardrobe of gorgeous clothes I haven't fit in for over 3 years pushing me along!

StandAndBeCounted · 17/03/2017 11:40

I'm here, but I've had a couple of days where I've thought sod it! I deprived myself all week and didn't lose anything so this week I'm eating what I like. Though not going quite as much to town as I used to! I even had a glass of vino last night :o

EnglishGirlApproximately · 17/03/2017 11:41

Hi! Nothing in particular as motivation really, other than really wanting to be fit and strong. I'm 42 and Ds is 5 next week, if I don't sort my health out now it's going to start hitting me as I age and i want to be able to carry doing stuff with Ds as he gets older. I'm on 1800 calories now, been advised to up to 2000 but struggling with that many so building up gradually. I'm having to unlearn everything I know about dieting with this programme it's hard, but getting results so I have to put my faith in it.

It would be great to get into those clothes!

indignatio · 19/03/2017 20:30

Hi. My weigh in day. Down 2.5lb so pleased. Am keeping to 1200 calories and have managed 6 swims this week. Just need to keep going. Thanks for the fitbit advice. Will try that.

Congratulations English - I'm working towards a new number. WHEN I get there, it will be for the first time in a number of years.

Please could you give an overview of your plan.

Hi Stand, hope next week is better for you.

Hi Stitch. I'm in awe that you can keep to 1200 without counting. I am having to weigh everything!

Welcome Ate. What type of diet have you decided to go for?

Well done indignatio! My Fitbit comes tomorrow so I'll be able to start planning my routine a bit better. The plan I'm following isn't really a diet, it's just based on the principle of eating between 500 and 850 calories a day less than you burn for weight loss. It's the opposite of most plans because it's worked individually. You work out exactly how much fat, carbs and protein you need based on your weight and activity levels. It encourages carbs as you need them for fuel. The people running it are personal trainers and the science seems sound, and there's a lot of sense in the methods. It isn't a quick fix, it'll take months to see a big loss but as it's not restrictive it's suistainable.

I start the exercise part of the plan tomorrow god help me!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 21/03/2017 14:44

Weigh in for me yesterday, another 2 lb down Grin Enjoying this plan, eating carbs is brilliant after all the diets I've been on!

indignatio · 21/03/2017 21:14

Well done English. Glad this is working for you. How did the exercise part go today?

OP posts:
EnglishGirlApproximately · 21/03/2017 22:53

It was ok, I've been doing cardio which I hate but gets me in the right frame of mind for other exercise then I've got a gym induction next week so I can start on weights which I enjoy, and they're better for fat burning. I'm still a bit gobsmacked by this plan tbh and waiting to see where the catch is - I had white toast with butter today and it fit my macros Shock

indignatio · 22/03/2017 05:15

How are you getting on with your fitbit English?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 22/03/2017 07:02

Its definitely making me move more, I get determined to hit my steps! I work from home so don't get up and out that much and when it looked like I wasn't going to hit my steps yesterday me and Ds put some music on after school and did some dancing. We were doing star jumps, press ups etc - it was great fun and I hit my steps.

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 22/03/2017 16:56

Hi sorry think I forgot to weigh in last week.
Anyway it was weigh in today and I lost 21/2 lb which makes my total loss 1 stone Smile.
I'm am really happy as I've been poorly this week and had some naughty bits so this has really lifted my spirits Grin

EnglishGirlApproximately · 22/03/2017 19:39

I'm not weighing today ive just got back from Bella for Ds birthday tea- couldn't resist the chocolate fondant Blush

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 22/03/2017 20:15

Got to have some naughty sometimes Grin

StandAndBeCounted · 23/03/2017 09:52

I've had a week off. Well mostly. Don't THINK I've been over my calories on any day, but not been vigilantly counting either. Still been walking to school. We'll see what the scales say tomorrow Blush

EnglishGirlApproximately · 23/03/2017 14:54

I'm still weighing daily and yesterday doesn't seem to have done too much damage so I haven't lost my focus yet!

indignatio · 26/03/2017 20:29

Well done onestep.

Not such a good week for me, but totm and eating out, so I should be pleased with 2lb.

My fitbit is interesting in the way it measures swimming. Any breaststroke lengths are counted, but it ignores any front crawl lengths. Odd

How is it going English?

Stand?

Going good, my weigh in tomorrow but I've been under my calorie goal every day so should be ok. Not expecting a big loss as my macros have been a bit out but I'll be happy with maintaining after a busy week. Can you swim in a Fitbit? I'd assumed you couldn't?

indignatio · 27/03/2017 01:44

As swimming is the only exercise I really enjoy, I bought a flex 2 which is the only one you can swim in.

Please would you explain what is meant by "my macros have been a bit out". Thanks

StandAndBeCounted · 27/03/2017 02:11

I maintained after a week of. Basically eating whatever I wanted. Supposed to be back on the high fat diet tomorrow and trying to do Davina whenever I can plus walking to school.

However. Its 2am and I really want a sandwich Shock

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/03/2017 09:21

ignatio it's my proportion of fat, carbs and protein. The plan I follow is calorie counting and macros- I'm on 55% carbs, 25% protein and 20% fat. My fat has been a bit higher due to Ds birthday cake Grin

EnglishGirlApproximately · 27/03/2017 09:23

Weighed in and only lost 1lb, I'm ok with that though due to the above cake! Have 2 different gyms to try this week to see which I like

StandAndBeCounted · 27/03/2017 09:40

Wow! That's a lot of carbs you're allowed! I need to get on this plan

StandAndBeCounted · 27/03/2017 09:48

In other news I noticed at swimming on Sat that my eldest who is 8 really is looking a bit porky. Weighed and measured her, put her figures into child bmi calculator and she is right on the cusp of being obese!

I can't believe it and am really sad about it. I honestly dont know why though. She swims twice a week and does karate once a week, pe at school. She only has a bowl of cereal for breakfast most days and I cook healthy dinners made from scratch. If she snacks it will be fruit or rice cakes usually. She has the odd treat, a McDonalds here n there but certainly not weekly or even monthly. I think she's gained since starting junior school as their dinners are quite calorific and larger portions than infants.

Hopefully the walking to school will help her and I'm going to try to stick to a weekly bike ride too, but I'm not sure what else I can do?!
