Hi. Is my timing right for anyone else being ready to start losing weight? For me, the title says it all.

This time I am armed with a fitbit (which I am learning to operate), have paid membership for the local pool, have DH on side, have the Lent excuse ready at work and would love some vipers with which to go through this process.

Is there anyone ready to go, so we can comfort and cajole each other?

stitch how many calories are you trying to stick to? I think I just set myself up to fail if it's too restrictive.

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 10/03/2017 17:54

Hi everyone I had weigh in on Wednesday I'd lost 1 1/2 this week which it's that time of a month aswell. But that's 10lb overall in 4 weeks Smile

EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/03/2017 19:30

That's a great loss in well done! Smile

indignatio · 10/03/2017 21:20

Great loss, well done.

The fitbit has been really good for me to track the calories. I assume mfp does the same. I am currently keeping to 1200 so hope that this will mean success. I am trying to exercise most days, but not increase the calories.
Does this seem like the right number?

OP posts:
EnglishGirlApproximately · 10/03/2017 22:09

I côuld never keep up with 1200, I know I'd give in and binge. With mfp you put in everything you eat and drink and get a breakdown of your macros. I use it as meal planning so I start the day knowing what I can eat.

stitchglitched · 10/03/2017 23:13

English the VLCD I'm trying to do is 700-800 calories a day. It's really tough!

Well done onestep, 10lbs in 4 weeks is a great loss.

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 11/03/2017 07:07

Thanks everyone. I need to start exercising now but that's the hard bit when I get hardly any sleep and 2 children 1 with add to look after

stitchglitched · 11/03/2017 07:21

I'm in the same position onestep. 2 DC, one a toddler and one with ASD. I got an exercise bike for xmas but impossible to use it with kids hanging onto my legs!

onestepforwardtenstepsback · 11/03/2017 07:27

Yes I have an exercise bike aswell but the same can't use it with the youngest about. Going to have to start trying though.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 11/03/2017 07:50

stitch there's no way I could do that! How long do you need to stick to it for?
I struggle with exercise, I'm either at work or have my 4yo with me. I need to find a way to get some in though

ladylambkin · 11/03/2017 11:30

This was my thoughts when I started in January I weighed in at 15 5 .....I would love to get to 11 stone again however would be happy with 12 Smile I have lost 17lbs over the last 9 weeks, my weigh day is Thursday. I'm now 14 2 and my mini goal is to be 13 something by end of March.

I'm feeling very motivated and find writing down my intake helps me to keep on the straight and narrow. I know there are apps out there but my wee book is helping me actually see where I am over indulging and sometimes I record how I'm feeling that day. I make soup every couple of days and find this keeps me satisfied for lunch. 3 meals per day with no snacks. Changed bread/pasta and rice to wholemeal.

Long may my motivation keep at this level

EnglishGirlApproximately · 11/03/2017 12:03

lady that's great. Are you following a plan or DIY?

ladylambkin · 11/03/2017 14:17

Englishgirl I'm following Scottish Slimmers Feel Good Plan and walking a mile and a half during my lunch break mon to Fri. Still having treats and alcohol at the weekend but factoring it into my week so I don't over indulge

EnglishGirlApproximately · 11/03/2017 15:20

That sounds good, fairly similar to what I'm following. Sensible calorie intake with nothing forbidden as long as it fits in your calories and macros, with more exercise. I've only been going 5 days but feels manageable and most important, sustainable. I'm not going hungry, just need to be careful.

StandAndBeCounted · 11/03/2017 16:56

Well done on your losses everyone. Ive fallen off the waggon. I cant do my diet book this week because a lack of funds meant a basic shop rather than one filled with loads of meat, fish and different cheeses. And after my 3lb loss I thought actually I was losing that much on my own anyway. But today Ive had a packet of crisps and 3 biscuits. On top of a bowl of fruit and fibre for breakfast and two lamb chops and lettuce for lunch. Making the kids macaroni cheese for dinner and no idea what to make myself. THIS is why the book was good. I liked knowing what I was having all the time and that I had it in. It kept me on track.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 11/03/2017 17:46

stand don't get down it's only a day! Back on it tomorrow? I'm rubbish if I don't plan in advance so I use mfp every night and put in my meal plan for the next day - it's the only way I don't go of course.

indignatio · 11/03/2017 20:54

Lady, you are an inspiration. I think we would all like to lose 17lb in 9 weeks

Whilst Iam using an app. Like you I like to serve hat I have eaten and where the calories are. I have just had the most delicious rib eye steak, but like English, I had to input this first thing as it affected breakfast(none) and lunch choices.

Stand, tomorrow is another day. What did you end up with for supper?

I am lucky my dcs are older, so abandonable for the sake of exercise. However the time spent exercising doesn't seem to reduce the number of chores which need doing.

OP posts:
indignatio · 11/03/2017 20:59

See what not serve hat

OP posts:
StandAndBeCounted · 12/03/2017 11:24

I counted up my calories for the day and even with my slip ups I was still only on 800 so I ate nearly an entire packet of crackers! Lol. Epic fail. Had nothing but a cup of tea today going to make bacon and egg, no bread soon. What app's are people using?

indignatio · 12/03/2017 13:48

Ok. Weigh in time for me. Loss of 3lb so I am pleased.

I am using the fitbit and trying, but failing to get it to sync to mfp. If anyone knows how to do this, help would be appreciated.

How has everyone else done?

OP posts:
StandAndBeCounted · 12/03/2017 14:07

Well done indignatio!! Never heard of fitbit till this thread and don't know what mfp is either! Will Google now

Ohyesiam · 12/03/2017 20:52

Hi, may I join?
I am currently 14 stone 13, and would love to lose 4 stone. Will do my measurements tomorrow and put them on.
I am working up to doing the blood sugar diet. I'll start after my next period, partly because I want several clear weeks before in battling hormones that tell me to eat, and partly because there is a lot for me to learn. In the mean time I'm experimenting with cutting out obvious carbs, and having reasonable portions.
I have always dieted secretly before, and this time am OUT, have set up a friend as a buddy, and now I have you lot!
Of someone who uses my fitness pal has time to tell me a bit about his it works, I woulf be really grateful.

Thanks Smile

EnglishGirlApproximately · 12/03/2017 21:05

Welcome 😊
I'll be weighing in tomorrow and I'm cautiously optimistic, I've only been over calories once (only 24) and my macros are pretty close too.

ohyes what do you need to know about mfp?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 12/03/2017 21:05

Well done ignatio that's a great start!

Howlongtillbedtime · 13/03/2017 07:18

I wasn't going to post but I really need a kick .

Since last week I have managed to actually put on bloody weight which isn't exactly the plan.

Now the excuses
Totm
Very stressful week at work.

I bought the new weightwatchers magazine last week and I haven't even opened the sodding thing.

So I have realised that just saying you are on a diet but carrying on eating rubbish doesn't work.

Today really needs to be a better day and a healthy day.

All kicks welcome .
