Managed to shift one pesky pound. 10st 1 this morning.

Squiffy01 · 29/03/2017 07:07

boop can't believe you binned the cookie! Well done! Are you in a double tree? I stayed in some in America once and they give them out and said anywhere in the world you can just go in and ask and they should give you one.

Still have to catch up, didn't come on yesterday as a as birthday. Had lunch and dinner out Sad.
This month will 100% be a gain. And I'm really annoyed about it. I think I was just starting to tell I had lost something. Was so close to reaching my next goal of next kg bracket Angry

HairsprayBabe · 29/03/2017 08:13

Well done on the shred before I was going to go for a run last night but it was peeing it down so I just did a bit of aggressive hoovering instead. My dad cut his thumb open last week when wood carving, DM texted me "your dad is in A&E" and nothing else - that really sent the cat amongst the pigeons! Hope your DH is doing ok now, we have taken to calling my DF stumpy Grin

I am still 11.2 this morning, although the scales were very indecisive between 11.1 and 11.2 so maybe I am more like 11.1 and 1/2...

readyforsunshine · 29/03/2017 08:14

squiffy happy bday, my Dds today so there will be Cake life will get in the way of losses but brings memories & happiness so don't be Sad
stellar good luck at the dr. I'm having some ongoing investigation into health issues & I find it helps if I take a list of symptoms as otherwise I come out frustrated that I've not given enough info & been brushed off yet again. Been 2 years now & finally got an appointment with a specialist.
1lb is a lb queen are you getting close to target? I'm 1.5lb down on my first week, which isn't much since I was at my heaviest, but I've not gone hardcore & it's almost 10% of the total I need to lose & if I can only manage 1lb a week from here on I will be squeezing back into my clothes in another 8 weeks & at target in 16! I need to take every positive motivator or I'll be back on the cheese mayo toasties Grin

readyforsunshine · 29/03/2017 08:17

Yesterday was cinnamon oatbran, lebaneseish chicken salad, which was delicious, Lo carb cottage pie w carrots & cabbage, glass red.

lastqueenofscotland · 29/03/2017 08:50

Ready I'm aiming for 9st. Hit 9st 9 and then went on holiday Confused

Stellar67 · 29/03/2017 08:58

Sunshine thank you. I have seen a specialist twice and he wrote to go and told them what I need for ever, no changes. The issue is it is ££££ so every few months I am dragged in and told I'm fine so I can come off the costly stuff and I have to argue my corner, every bloody time. I think one day they will tell me to leave the practice.

Archduke · 29/03/2017 09:58

Hi all

I've been away in RL for the past few days. Have just caught up with the thread.

Quim I'm so very sorry about your dad; tough times for you and your family, dear Quim. I hope you're managing to wade forwards through difficult waters. Flowers for you.

DH passed through our fair city on his journey across Australia on Monday, the kids whole school came out and lined the street to cheer him on, it was properly fantastic. We are raising funds for the hospital that treated our daughter last year, dh (who is not a cryer) nearly blubbed when he saw them cheering him on. He's now on the south coast of Victoria heading for the Australian Alps and then Sydney.

We're flying over there on Sunday to meet him at the Opera House sometime next week.

Eating wise, all ok, I do feel like I'm losing my mojo for running. No time to go out with work and single parenthood.

HappyFlappy · 29/03/2017 10:02

Ooh! Just found this - am marking so I can read for tips when I get back from dog walk.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 29/03/2017 11:21

Hello, Archie! That sounds like a proper tear-jerker! Lovely!

Stellar, good luck with the GP! That sounds shite. Can they really tell you to leave the practice because your treatment is expensive? Shock

Before, doing the Shred at gone 11pm is seriously hardcore! I am in awe.

10.10.5 today despite slight not-goldenness of two biscuits and a macaroon yesterday. I didn't count calories properly - think it was more like 1400 than 1200, but it must have been low enough for the scales to move! DH is making the MN gammon in cola today - have no idea what sort of calories that will be! Will just have to have a very small portion.

Exercise has slipped again - does spending all evening WhatsApping in a state of fury about hen party plans count as exercise? Still, trampoline tonight!

I am struggling with the feeling that as this weekend is going to be a booze and food filled extravaganza, what's the point of being good now? I know the answer, alas!

Stellar67 · 29/03/2017 11:32

Cheddar I think they can say I'm not following their advice. That's what the specialist said. He actually warned me!
Anyway I've been and I had a different Dr who was great, said all was fine and just gave me a general run through to make sure I was happy with how I was feeling. Refreshing!

I refuse to be drawn into social media party planning. I just say, let me know when it's sorted and silence it. Grin Enjoy the trampolining. (Do you need a special pad or is is it just me that puts trampolines and tenas in the same thought process) Wink

Aww Archy that sounds lovely. My DH works away two weeks out of three most of the time and I have to admit I enjoy it, but then I work p/t and my dcs are at school.

Hello everyone, can I join your fab thread?
I'm having a tough time weight wise, and am thoroughly fed up now.
I had a DS 3 years ago, loads all the baby weight but in the last year piled it all back on and then some, mainly on my tummy and face and arms.

I'm currently a size 16 but really should be wearing size 18..I've never been this big.

The frustrating thing is I know how to eat healthy, I know SW like the back of my hand (helped me lose 3 stone a few years back) but I can't get my eating habits under control.

Plus there's been back to back social things going on which don't help and family visits where I cook lavish meals... excuses excuses, I know!

I just don't know where to start and overhaul my awful eating and stick to it. Usually I'm motivated but I'm finding it so hard. Even though I'm more than accepted I'm fat right now.

Thanks for listening if you made it to the end of this post :)

StewPots · 29/03/2017 12:36

Would writing a meal plan for me help? I do it for dinners every week but really need to focus on my own eating, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I remember doing a food diary for my first week at SW and was totally horrified. Maybe I should do that too to motivate me?

I do t know where to start Wails!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 29/03/2017 12:42

Meal planning sounds good, StewPot and so does writing down everything you eat. Welcome to our lovely group! Hope you achieve some clarity as well as weight loss!

Stellar, yay for a nice new Dr! I wear a mooncup to trampoline because it seems to prevent these wee accidents. Wore a pad to start with until I realised that I wasn't leaking during my period

Keep, yay for 2lb whoosh! Well done! Are the buttons on the poncho under the arms? I had one like that and the buttons ripped off when I lifted my arms. I do still wear it, though, and like it (am short and large of chest, but I think mine still works)!

StewPots · 29/03/2017 12:45

Thanks cheddar Smile

I'm going to weigh myself for the first time in MONTHS tomorrow to find out what I'm facing.
Been ignoring it and thinking it's fine but it's not, I've just been too chicken to find out.
My knees are aching, I'm bloated and can't fit in any clothes...it has to stop.

lastqueenofscotland · 29/03/2017 12:47

I'm a huge fan of a good meal plan!

StewPots · 29/03/2017 12:49

Queen Yes I do them every week for family dinners etc and stick to them pretty religiously so hopefully I'll get into that habit myself.

My key struggles will be with bread or bread products, crisps, chocolate and ale as I'm a real craft beer fan (something that's been developing for the last 6 months and clearly ain't helping - our mates own a brewery!)

QuimReaper · 29/03/2017 12:59

Before Shock at Shredding at 11:30! That's serious dedication!

Thank you Archie - I was just wondering yesterday where you were and how your insane husband is getting on in his epic race Grin He sounds like an absolute champ, sounds so emotional! I don't blame you for letting the running slip whilst you're a single parent, sounds full-on. I wouldn't worry too much about it though, we all know the old abs-in-the-kitchen adage.

Squiffy enjoy your birthday! Much more important than the old Linda-bashing, that can happen any time but birthdays are just once a year!

BOOP how'd you get on...?

TVHubbyClaire · 29/03/2017 13:03

Can i ask what is the shred or shredding?Confused

Keepon I did try that a while ago but found I had really bad tummy cramps and was lightheaded on the fasting days and I'm a HCP so not great when it was shift days sadly...my friend does it though and has had great success so far, lost 1.5 stone so obviously works! Smile

HairsprayBabe · 29/03/2017 13:09

Welcome to the best thread on MN Stew
Ooooh I love a good meal plan, I have a spreadsheet! A few people on here have found a good way to kick start some weight loss and get into the zone, reset habits etc. is by trying a bit of intermittent fasting. It could be a good way to get motivated for you too?

Carb addiction is a real thing, and it sounds like you could be struggling a bit with it, the only way to go for me was cold turkey, as eating carbs made me want more carbs!

Don't worry about what the scales say, when I first weighed myself before this diet I had gained 5st from my previous weight! Shock I was truly horrified, but I just take one day at a time and the weight is almost all gone now. You have taken the hardest step in deciding you need to do something about it!

KOKO I love that poncho keep it! or send it to me

Stellar did you decide on how you were having your nails? I get IBD Jel Nails, last me about 2/3 weeks and I mainly have garish pink with glitter or gothic black Grin Ever the paradox!

QuimReaper · 29/03/2017 13:10

Good luck Stellar, I hate going to the GP - I have an appt on Friday and I'm dreading it too. Hope it goes well.

Welcome Stew! I think meal planning is a great way to kick things off - if you already know what you're doing, it's just a question of getting into the swing of things. You've done it before so you know you can do it again, and I think a good solid plan and a good week where you get a lovely glow out of sticking to it is a great way to get things going! Is SW going to be your approach this time? I struggled hugely with bread too when I started out, but I did find that once I stopped "defaulting" to bread I stopped craving it. It is so bloody addictive but once you break the habit it gets easier.

koko fab news on the 2 Lindas, what a result! I really want like the poncho but it's really hard to say without seeing it on - can you set up a timer photo and take some snaps of yourself in it to assess? It'll very much depend on what it's worn with, I reckon the poncho + a drapey bottom half wouldn't work, so if you're not a skinny jean type it'll cut you off in an awkward place.

StewPots · 29/03/2017 13:11

I do shift work, including night shifts, and am also involved with lots of social events so find it so hard to regulate my eating and control my portions, and also stop snacking.

I'm usually really motivated when I put on weight and lose t easily but this time around I'm not so I just keep getting bigger and bigger. I joke with DH and my mates about it but it really isn't funny anymore.

I'm tired all the time, I ache, and it's getting me down. Every photo I look awful. I just want my weight loss mojo back! Smile
