A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone

Hi, I know there are lots of new 2017 threads but thought I'd see if there are others like me with a small amount of weight to lose who want support.
This day last year I weighed 10st 11lbs which is my heaviest ever (I am 165cm / 5ft 5in) My aim then was to be under 10 st which I managed but then spent most of the year bobbing around the 10 st mark, which was fine.
Today I weigh 10st 3lbs. It is TOTM so that always adds a pound or two but my target is to lose 7lbs initially and then perhaps aim for 9 1/2.
Aiming to count calories and exercise as this is what has worked best for me in the past Smile

Low/no sugar seems to be working for me, weighed in at 9st 4 today, was at 9st 9 after christmas.
Definitely feel lighter. Bit concerned that this has been because I've been at home a lot more than usual...will I be able to sustain when going back into work more!! Though I am not exercising either.
I've been eating mainly plant based, healthy snacking (sweet potato, celery, popcorn, even roasted sprouts!) I got a soup maker for Christmas and have been using that for a few meals with half a wholemeal wrap.
I have had wine and cheese (halloumi) over the week, and some cards wholemeal rice, or wrap, but NOTHING processed, and barely any sugar other than a little bit of ketchup, or tzatziki.
I really hope this is sustainable, I'm planning on one treat day a week where I eat whatever, probably on a Friday
Did anyone else watch The Sugar Man?

You can make nice sweet potato crisp things by slicing a sweet pot thinly, drizzle with olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and roast in the oven.

meatloaf · 11/01/2017 17:19

Ooh sweet potato crispies!

I like crispy kale. Similar method as the sweet potato.

nicebiscuit25 · 11/01/2017 18:03

Thank you for the ideas I walked home to day rather than getting a lift was bloody cold but worth it although any good of my walk has gone I've eaten half a bag of prawn crackers

Mol1628 · 11/01/2017 18:24

I'm about 9st 13 and I would like to be about 9 stone.

I was 8st6 before pregnancy but doubt I'll get to that again.

I'm cutting out fizzy drinks completely. Much less chocolate and junk. Doing a short exercise DVD as many times a week as I can manage but it's hard to find time or energy right now.

Good luck everyone.

meatloaf · 11/01/2017 19:08

What DVD Mol1628?

Mol1628 · 11/01/2017 19:18

I've been doing davina fit in 15. Quite like it as the workouts are short and so I can do it before bed or whilst the toddler naps. Hoping it'll help at least with toning if not weight loss.

stillwantrachelshair · 11/01/2017 21:36

I'm feeling as though the Christmas bloat has finally disappeared so found it quite depressing in the gym to see how many rolls of fat my stomach consists of. I definitely don't want to look like that on the beach at Easter.
Food:
B - yogurt
L - turkey with cabbage, roast carrots & parsnips
S - half a tub of cottage cheese, a slice of ham & the inside of a sausage roll
Snacks - apple, 2 carrots, 1/3 pepper

Karcheer · 11/01/2017 21:56

I'm really struggling to get to the gym. I think if I could get there I'd actually stop snacking bad stuff.
How do you motivate yourself to get to the gym after work?

My scales are going mental, I got three different readings this morning and I changed the batteries yesterday as it's has been doing the same all week,
Can anyone recommend a good ones Smile

Jellybean83 · 12/01/2017 09:39

Well done to everyone who has lost. Star

My scales do that too Monzeitia, I can place them at three different places in my bathroom and get three different readings. I try to weigh myself on the scales whenever I'm in boots it's probably more accurate than my scales.

I had a bit of a disaster day on Tuesday, skipped brekkie then had cheese and toast for lunch and a McDonald's for dinner, that's all I had so hopefully it didn't do too much damage. Really good day yesterday, forced myself to have a wheatabix in the morning, soup and a small roll for lunch and oven baked fish and chips with peas for dinner, I did have a chocolate truffle afterwards with a coffee but just the one. I am finding not snacking very hard, it is a very hard habit to beat, Thankfully all the Christmas treats are almost gone, it's those bloody little packets of haribos that keep taunting me.

DavetheCat2001 · 12/01/2017 10:09

I have a glut of Haribo's here too leftover from my sons party bags!

I keep trying to forget where I have stashed them!

So bloody moreish.

NewYearNewNickname · 12/01/2017 15:46

Just had a choc biscuits from the office Christmas leftovers! Mindless eating and I am cross with myself even though it was just the one so came on here for motivation to get my head back in the game Smile. I really want to see a 9 tomorrow!!!

nicebiscuit25 · 12/01/2017 17:12

Had a good start today yogurt for breakfast and sandwich for lunch. Was let down with crisps and cake at work

stillwantrachelshair · 12/01/2017 22:22

Why can't I make a cake without eating the leftovers? I had the scrapings of both the cake mix and the icing and am feeling all fat and sluggish and bloated now. I am an idiot! Not as much veg eaten today either.
B: Greek yogurt
L: chicken, cabbage & peanut sauce wrap. So much tastier than it sounds!
S: steak, salad & butternut squash chips
Snacks: cake mix, satsuma, slice of cheese

buzzpopprince · 12/01/2017 23:54

After yesterday's elation it has all gone down hill today. Work event meant cakes and sandwiches. Had a choc digestive and a sandwich ...so much for low sugar! Clearly it is v hard at work!
First day of period plus horrid weather and I just decided today is a cheat day so ate what I wanted for dinner plus chocolate.
Bitterly regretting it now, feel rubbish...also didn't enjoy any of it like I thought I would weirdly
Made soup for tomorrow. Hoping doesn't mess up the progress I made, feel so bloated

NoraBarlow111 · 13/01/2017 08:20

First weigh in, 0.4lbs lost. really pleased as I've baked two lots of chocolate cakes this week and ate them.

Colourmylife1 · 13/01/2017 09:05

Friday weigh in and I'm 9'6 and a bit so lost just under 2lbs this week. I have around 7lbs to go. I know it will slow down so much from now on but I hope to reach my goal by my birthday in mid-March. I'm off on a work trip for 2 weeks from Sunday and it will be difficult to choose what I eat. I'm doing dry January and will miss the drinks in the hotel bar! Hope everyone else is having a good week.

spally1979 · 13/01/2017 09:47

Morning all. Friday weigh in and I've lost 1lb, so 10st 7lbs. Half a stone to go to see a 9! Feel very motivated!
Slightly disappointed as I was hoping for more but I feel better in myself and have been sticking to my calories and hitting steps every day.
Really enjoying reading this thread!

NewYearNewNickname · 13/01/2017 10:41

Friday weigh in here too and I am 10st 0.0lbs!! So close to seeing that much desired 9 but I will have to wait until next week for that now.
If I'm really honest I am a little disappointed but I need to make myself realise that I have lost nearly 4lbs in less than 2 weeks and that is great. Actually as I typed that I smiled, put like that I am pleased with that Smile
I haven't really set a target weight other than I know I want to be under 10st but think I probably should to make sure I keep up the motivation. Think someone said near the beginning of the thread that you lose more if your target is harder and I think this is probably true for me so off to Google my current and target bmi / weight.

Eebahgumlass · 13/01/2017 11:45

Almost the same as you newyearnewnickname - weighed in 10st 0.2 pounds today so really shooting for the magic under 10 next week! I was just over 10st 5 on the 28th December so really pleased as have lost 5 pounds without doing anything very restrictive. I think my diet and lifestyle has been so bad the last few months that just being sensible is working this time!

Mol1628 · 13/01/2017 12:50

Had a cookie and a hot chocolate today at a cafe. But I had shredded wheat for breakfast and I'll try have a sensible lunch and tea hoping it won't be ruined.

I'll also do my DVD this afternoon
