A thread for those wanting to lose less than a stone

Hi, I know there are lots of new 2017 threads but thought I'd see if there are others like me with a small amount of weight to lose who want support.
This day last year I weighed 10st 11lbs which is my heaviest ever (I am 165cm / 5ft 5in) My aim then was to be under 10 st which I managed but then spent most of the year bobbing around the 10 st mark, which was fine.
Today I weigh 10st 3lbs. It is TOTM so that always adds a pound or two but my target is to lose 7lbs initially and then perhaps aim for 9 1/2.
Aiming to count calories and exercise as this is what has worked best for me in the past Smile

At the beginning of this thread I was 10.3, am now 9.12.5 so have lost 4.5 pounds since 1 Jan.

Eggs are the answer. They fill me up so much I stop thinking about eating inbetween meals.

stillwantrachelshair · 09/01/2017 23:03

Well this evening didn't quite go to plan as I remembered I was supposed to be making a cheesecake & obviously ended up eating some of the mix. Luckily, it's a long time until my weigh in on Sat!

NewYearNewNickname · 10/01/2017 07:20

Still can't believe how many of us there are on this thread, it's great!!
Back on track for me after being a bit slack at the weekend. Did a gym class Sun and swam yesterday although I had the DC with me so only did 20 fast lengths plus a few more after a break chatting with them. Still felt like I had moved after so better than nothing.
Well done to everyone, some great results. I might also try and watch the sugar man but got a few things to catch up on at the moment. I really can't wait until my weight starts with a 9 again but don't think that is going to happen this week. Just keep thinking 'slow and steady'. I guess the most important thing for me is that the changes I make are sustainable as that way I know I will be able to maintain later.

I lost two pounds, I'm now 9 stones 3, really happy, I realized that dieting only won't do anything for me but when I include at least 13000 steps a day, its when I start losing away, also having a small dinner with carbs(potatoes, pasta, etc) just protein and vegs

Monzeitia · 10/01/2017 09:41

Sorry without carbs for my dinner

under60kgbyJuly · 10/01/2017 10:09

65.3kg today, down 0.6. At least it's in the right direction. Should be easier next week now school's started, but not expecting fast progress anyway. Under 65 next week would be nice.

EnormousTiger · 10/01/2017 11:40

9 stone 13 here (it was seeing the 9 which was nice rather than marginal perhaps a pound loss). Quite a bit of heavy lifting this morning - not gym just eral life, rubbish, sacks etc.

I agree with what someone said about eggs above. They do tend to fill people up and stop them eating or at least for some of us. I am still sticking to water or cocoa powder i hot water (and my daily gellatin powder) until a late lunch(which is my main meal). Evenings now seem to be two raw carrots, half a cucumber with a tin of sardines in olive oil on top which tastes delicious although it may not seem so to others on the thread. I promise it does.

Lots of tempting crisps and bites of all kinds out on the table at last night's committee meeting but amazingly I didn't want them . I must just have lost the urge for junk carbs.

(I was this weight in August 16 but at least I'm starting at around 10 stone not 11 so it's something to work down from and with weight watchers a very long time ago (25 years!) my target weight was 9 stone 10 (and I got down to 9 then) so nice to think I am not too far off that.

buzzpopprince · 10/01/2017 12:05

Thanks for tips re eggs, I've found the same re them filling you up and had forgotten
Managing to avoid sugar much to DD's annoyance as I'm refusing to buy lots of things I usually do, I'm outraged by the sugar added in.
Last night I had two glasses of wine on a date, oops.
Snacking wise on an evening, trying to have kale crisps, sweet potato fries, celery... it's not easy! But the urge for sweet things is reducing at night
Don't feel like I've lost much yet, hoping it's a slow and steady loss. Haven't been very active but that should change from today

cathyandclare · 10/01/2017 13:07

2lb on since yesterday despite being a paragon of virtue

KOKO and hoping for better, away from home for a couple of days so not weighing which is probably no bad thing.

littlemissM92 · 10/01/2017 13:15

It's so bloody hard i have upped the fruit and lowered carbs with main meals also just signed up for a race in April so running 4 miles 3 times a week starting from last week last year that is when it dropped off me so here's hoping same this time plus riding my horse 2/3 times a week! Keep at it ladies

NewYearNewMe78 · 10/01/2017 19:46

Would love to join this thread.
Like the OP my heaviest has been 10 stone 11. I'm just under 5foot 4inches.
Managed to get down to 10 stone 7lbs before Christmas and now back up at 10 stone 11 lbs though sheer greed over Christmas 🎄.
Going on holiday in 24 weeks and would love to be 10 stone and over the moon for anything 9 stone. Would happily take 9 stone 13 lbs.
I bought a 4 pack of creamy doughnuts 🍩 today and ate all FOUR ! WTAF ?? I was doing so well with my cereal and soup 🍜.

stillwantrachelshair · 10/01/2017 21:05

No exercise today (although have traipsed around and around the house tidying up). OK food though...
Breakfast - full fat yog
Lunch - lasagne and roast veg
Supper - Glorious soup
Snacks - carrot, pepper, banana, apple & ham.

meatloaf · 10/01/2017 21:12

Met my 10k step target. Back at work but no cheeky breakfast, took in some overnight oats and had a black coffee from pret.

Bought some coffee pods to have at work to stop me from going into pret for coffee in the morning and therefore reducing the risk of picking up a pret pastry.

Lunch - salad that I made last night.

Dinner - was delayed at work so came home and made tomato and mascarpone with pasta. Could have been worse.

Have drunks loads of water today.

EnormousTiger · 10/01/2017 21:16

Giving up cereal and fruit can help some people lose weight actually but find what works for you.

Thegirlisnotright · 10/01/2017 21:17

New to the thread, hope that's ok!

1 week in, goal weight loss of 11 lbs, and I'm 3 lbs down. My diet consists of not eating family bags of chocolate on my own Grin

Ilikesweetpeas · 10/01/2017 21:21

Please can I join? In my second week of calorie counting using MFP and still very motivated so far! I was 10st 7 last weds and would love to be 9st 7!

DavetheCat2001 · 10/01/2017 21:58

Walked 4 miles today on a totally wasted journey to my GP's surgery and then onto Sainsbury's and home with a heavy bag of shopping. Good for exercise though..have over 14,000 steps today.

Foodwise:

Breakfast - 2 slices of w/meal toast and marmite
Lunch - tomato soup, w/meal pitta break with some ham and salad.
Greek yogurt and honey

Dinner - chicken and avocado salad. Bit of dark chocolate.

Snacks - 2 slices of toast and peanut butter mid afternoon.

Bit of a bready/carby day all in, so not great but I have walked loads + ran 7km yesterday so not gong to be too down on myself.

Scales said 9st 6 3/4 this morning. It's taking a frustratingly long time to see much significant change given all the exercise I am doing.

Hoping to get down to 9st 3, so not far to go but those last few lbs seem to be so hard to lose.

Day 10 of Dry Jan done too, so pleased that I've managed to stay off the wine. The next couple of weekends are going to be a challenge as have my son's 6th birthday party (think 25 kids in a church hall - enough to drive anyone to drink!) and a visit to one of my best friends the weekend after - always lots of wine supped there. Going to have to try and stay strong!

DavetheCat2001 · 11/01/2017 08:28

Really pleased as weighed this morning before eating anything, and I am down to 9st 51/2, so that's another pound down towards my 9st 3 goal.

Had Greek yogurt with blueberries for breakfast. Off on the school run shortly.

Dinner will be a ham omelette and salad I think, and for dinner am doing stir fry teriyaki veg noodles. Going to try and get out for a run later too.

Have a good day all.

Colourmylife1 · 11/01/2017 11:15

Dave you're doing so well! How do you keep motivation to keep going when you are so close to your goal weight and it comes off so slowly? Hope to be in your position in a couple of weeks. What was your starting weight?

bubblyone · 11/01/2017 11:37

Me too, please! Lost around 30lbs between June and December...but hovering around the same weight since early Dec thanks to Christmas. Struggling to get back into dieting mode and want to lose 5-8lbs more to get to ultimate target. It's all in the head, really. Christmas etc brought back bad nibbling and second/third helpings habits!

nicebiscuit25 · 11/01/2017 12:23

Any tips on snacks like crisps that aren't to bad I'm really struggling with the amount of crisps I eat and want to get back to 7st 9

Karcheer · 11/01/2017 12:38

Hello, I'm the same with snacks. I've been so good, but I'm like a mad women after work before dinner where I HAVE to have crisps and a couple of chocolates. I'd love some good snack tips.
Are we doing a weekly weigh in?

DavetheCat2001 · 11/01/2017 13:30

Colour I think luckily I don't have a massively sweet tooth so can really take or leave sweets/choc etc. Don't get me wrong, I love a pudding or a treat, but to be honest given the choice would rather have some cheese and biscuits or a glass (or three) of wine, and as I am not drinking this month, I think that is really helping.

Also I have a lot of clothes that I bought last year when I got really skinny that don't look good or fit so well now, so my motivation really is to get back into them as I did spend quite a bit of £££ on clothes!

I was 9st 9 at the end of Xmas, so 3.5 lbs down so far. If I can get to 9st 3 that'd be ideal. Lowest I would go now is 9. I went down to 8st 10 last year and whilst the clothes all looked good, my face didn't and I was looking old and haggard!

DavetheCat2001 · 11/01/2017 13:31

How about salty popcorn as a snack treat?

nicebiscuit25 · 11/01/2017 15:04

I eat so much popcorn only 88 calories a packet but it's not the same I'm going to try joe wicks tortilla chips see if theee any good
