Help me MN, I have 4 stone to lose and 10k debt to pay off!

Hello,

I've mentioned this on a couple of other threads but I hope you don't mind if I start my own thread as I have 2 really important goals this year and want to tackle them both, together.

This morning, I am 14 stone exactly. I'm 5'1' and have never even had kids! (I'm 33). I gave up booze 2 years ago so now time to tackle the cake/takeaway habit. If I lose 2lbs a month, I can be 10 stone in time for (hopefully!) going to Wimbledon this year.

I have taken some "before" shots of myself nekkid in the mirror and entered my weight on fitbit. And am stocking up on healthy food (low GI type idea). I also have a wee stepper machine in the living room so I need to get on that.

RE the debt - long story short this was due to slight overspending mounting up and then being out of work for a while. It's partly overdraft, rest credit card. I should be able to pay this off if I just stop filling my trolley with things I don't need, esp in Tesco. And if I stop buying clothes/random crap. So Lidl it is, going forward! I probably won't clear the lot but if I could get it under 5k that would be great.

So here we go any followers and support is much appreciated.

I wish you luck in whatever goals you have for yourself!

I look forward to Boxing Day 2017 when I should be slim, healthy and financially sound.

WE CAN DO THIS!

Several people have recommended this budgeting site to me, tho I haven't got round to trying it yet: www.youneedabudget.com

Yes to using my fitness pal with fitbit. Do you do fitbit challenges? I'm always up for those if you want to make contact!

Are you sure 2lb a week isn't a bit over ambitious? Could be quite demoralizing if you hit a wall, as I have, though I've lost most of what I hoped to lose. My fitness pal recommends 1lb a week.

May I ask what sort of counselling. This is something I've been considering. I know what to do but can seem to do itHmmBlush so wondering if it might help

ChickenVindaloo2 · 08/10/2017 19:22

Good stuff, Row! And thanks, I will be doing lots of walking whilst I'm away.

Wine - thanks, yep, I've tried YNAB but found it a bit fiddly so ended up making a basic Excel spreadsheet myself.

Gassy - it's basically CBT. I just googled "eating counselling" and had a look at a few sites. Your first stop might be your GP who could refer you. It cost me £75/hr privately.

Hello,

Safely back from my holiday where I ate lowcarb and did MASSES of walking every day (to the extent that my feet ended up bleeding and blistered!)

I was 11st 4lbs this am. I am probably the only person to ever go to Vegas and come back thinner!

Will be nice to be in the 10s again...and the 9s before the end of the year...

How y'all doing?! (I brought the accent back with me!)

Rowgtfc72 · 25/10/2017 20:46

H iyah!
Coming to the end of my Cornish holiday. Many pasties, pints and cream teas unfortunately. However a distinct lack of processed food so as a result am feeling good.
Will have put weight on (no kidding)but needed this break so can live with that.
Bought a new t shirt when I arrived. Reached for the xl as usual but they only had m and s. I can get the medium one on! Will post a pic when I get back as have decided this is how I will judge my weightloss, when the t shirt fits I'm there!

Well done on holidaying and losing!

WildBluebelles · 27/10/2017 21:05

I have just read the whole thread and just wanted to say WOW you have done so well, Chicken. When I got to May and you had fallen off the wagon, I was thinking oh noooo what a shame but man have you pulled it out of the bag now. Nearly 3 stone off- you must be noticing such a difference.

I have found weights classes like BodyPump are good because they build lean muscle which burns more calories. Not sure if you have tried anything like that.

And don't blame you re the mortgage consolidation. Sometimes you just need a clean slate.

Anyway, keep updating- I need inspiration!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 29/10/2017 19:49

Hi Row, welcome back from holiday! Looking forward to your pic. What's the plan for the run up to Christmas?

Welcome Blue! Great to have you on board! Yes, now that I am feeling pretty good about myself, i'm looking to branch out a little more in the gym - going to look at booking some classes and see what I enjoy. Re the credit card - I do now have about 5k on it (but at 0%) due the limited time opportunity for the one in a lifetime holiday that came up! I have a sensible plan to repay it though before the 0% is up.

Tell us a little about your journey, Blue?

OP posts:
ChickenVindaloo2 · 29/10/2017 20:01

I was 11st 3 this am.
8 weeks tomorrow is Christmas Day.

Possible losses:
At 2lbs/week, I'd be: 16lbs down ie 10st 1lbs
At 1.5lbs/week I'd be 12 lbs down 10st 5lbs
At 1lb/week I'd be: 8 lbs down ie 10st 9lbs

If I really try hard, I could be under 10st for start of 2018!

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 05/11/2017 18:25

Hi chicken, hope all's going well!
I'm 14st 7 as of this morning. Oops.
Anyway photo is of medium top. Would never ever buy a medium top. Have discovered from this photo not only am I all boob (they must weigh a good stone surelyGrin) I also have a waist. A bloody waist! Where did that come from?
Anyway, onwards and upwards. Not outwards.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 06/11/2017 21:05

Hi Row, nice to see (most) of you!

Great jugs by the way.

I can indeed see a waist.

As well as judging yourself in the t-shirt, why not measure said waist with a tape measure once a month?

What's the plan for the run up to Christmas?

I'm on a bit of a plateau at 11st 3 with a period that's playing hide and seek. And a distinct lack of desire to go the gym in the dark! Food is same old same old. Fine, second nature really not to eat crap.

OP posts:
ChickenVindaloo2 · 09/11/2017 17:37

Had a bit of a heavy period and lost 2lbs overnight!

11st 1 as of today so hoping that's me off that plateau of 11st 3-4. Feel pretty hungry though.

No reason why I shouldn't be under 10stone to bring in 2018!

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 14/11/2017 17:05

No need to get weighed here, my flabby bits are backSad

Life is way to busy with not enough sleep. And I think its lack of sleep giving me the munchies.

See, I'm good with the excuses. Need to get back on track.

How goes it?

ChickenVindaloo2 · 14/11/2017 18:31

Aye, good thanks. I''m just a whisker over 11stone.

Trying to cook healthy but tasty winter meals. Did a very spicy turkey chilli last night and going to crack out the slow cooker tonight for my reduced price chicken fillets!

Any chance of getting yourself some more sleep? That helps massively.

I'm not keen on going to the gym in the evenings in winter (daytime weekends only) so got to start doing a bit of home exercise to keep things moving along.

I can fit into a nice monsoon dress now that I haven't worn since 2013 :-)

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 22/11/2017 16:51

More sleep would be lovely. Unfortunately I get up at 4am for work, home for half two then school run, house stuff and I crawl into bed at 9pm, half an hour after my ten year old!

Dh has just been given a different job at work, its more physical. He's just suggested we have a weekend weigh in and see who's lost the most by new years day. Worth a try!

Hope your giving the dress lots of outingsGrin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 23/11/2017 19:38

Thanks Row! Dress is getting its first outing tomorrow night!

I'm on a plateau at just over 11 stone.
Am just plugging away though.
Will definitely be 10stone something by Christmas.

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 24/11/2017 19:39

Hope the dress makes you feel great! You've certainly put the effort in. Have a good night!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 25/11/2017 18:10

This was me last night. I felt fine. No-one would "count me" as a fat person if you see what I mean. On the other hand, I know I still need to lose at least 1 stone to be in a "healthy" range and another stone after that to be peak-gorgeousness! Grin

Help me MN, I have 4 stone to lose and 10k debt to pay off!
OP posts:
ChickenVindaloo2 · 25/11/2017 18:11

And do you like my alternative Christmas tree...ready to be decorated!

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 26/11/2017 20:50

Oo! Get you!
You can tell the difference from the other picture you posted. I know what you mean as well about the fat person thing.
We've all weighed in today. I'm14 7. Still less than the start of the year. Gives me till Jan the 1st to hit 13 something. Dh is 17 2. But he's 6ft 6. Challenge has been thrown down!
Loving your tree, as does Dd!

Restawhile · 30/11/2017 10:00

Well done Chicken you look amazing . I’ve just read your thread and there’s such a difference in that photo and your first photo you posted, not just the dress. These threads are so inspirational to many of us , mostly who read and don’t post. That’s usually me.

You have taken control of what you wanted to tackle and you are getting the results . Thank you for sharing . ⭐️

ChickenVindaloo2 · 01/12/2017 19:22

Thank you ladies!

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 09/12/2017 06:31

HelloSmile

Got to agree, the difference between the two photos is amazing, you've done so well to stick to it and I bet you feel better physically and mentally.

I'm out here, busy life, not enough sleep , bloody perimenopause and needing an extra eight hours a day mean I'm grabbing whatever whenever and I'm now 14st 7. It's still less than I started the year which I must say is a novelty but not where I wanted to be.

Must say though I think if you'd not inspired me along the way I'd have put on the usual stone and a halfGrin . Anyway I'm going to enjoy the rest of this year, please post the pic of you in your gladrags at the end of the year as you should be very proud of what you've achieved.
I'll be back in January. 2018 is my year Xmas Grin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 17/12/2017 16:57

Aww Row, how kind! I'm glad this year has been a good one and happy to have helped in some small way!

I'm still just over 11st. The plateua is nothing really to do with Christmas, I think I'm just adjusting now that I'm getting near a healthy weight.

Having said that, I could improve in some areas:

Gym - haven't been for about 5 weeks due to it being dark at nights, had a cold, then a heavy period, then social stuff blah blah. Keen to get back though.

Food - have been overdoing the hot chocolate and chocolate itself. Snacking a bit esp in the evenings too.

Anyway, it was nice to go to my work Christmas party a couple of nights ago and know I looked good. Didn't have to worry about being a "fat girl". I even pulled a bloke (not a colleague!) which would not have happened if I was still 14st plus.

Have a good Christmas and see you soon!

OP posts:
Rowgtfc72 · 24/12/2017 06:42

Merry christmas to you too!
Sounds like your work do was fun Grin

Going to have a good christmas here, due to work me dh and dd are only at home together at the same time for today and tomorrow so will eat, drink and be merry.

See you on the other side!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 28/12/2017 17:23

Hey! I contemplated just keeping this thread going but I think I'd like to start a nice, new shiny one for 2018. hope you will join me here:
