Hello,

I've mentioned this on a couple of other threads but I hope you don't mind if I start my own thread as I have 2 really important goals this year and want to tackle them both, together.

This morning, I am 14 stone exactly. I'm 5'1' and have never even had kids! (I'm 33). I gave up booze 2 years ago so now time to tackle the cake/takeaway habit. If I lose 2lbs a month, I can be 10 stone in time for (hopefully!) going to Wimbledon this year.

I have taken some "before" shots of myself nekkid in the mirror and entered my weight on fitbit. And am stocking up on healthy food (low GI type idea). I also have a wee stepper machine in the living room so I need to get on that.

RE the debt - long story short this was due to slight overspending mounting up and then being out of work for a while. It's partly overdraft, rest credit card. I should be able to pay this off if I just stop filling my trolley with things I don't need, esp in Tesco. And if I stop buying clothes/random crap. So Lidl it is, going forward! I probably won't clear the lot but if I could get it under 5k that would be great.

So here we go any followers and support is much appreciated.

I wish you luck in whatever goals you have for yourself!

I look forward to Boxing Day 2017 when I should be slim, healthy and financially sound.

WE CAN DO THIS!

Back down to 13.1 today. I have been a little hungry in the evenings and snacking so I think I'll eat more at mealtimes and try to stick to 3 meals no snacks.

Renewed motivation from this article:

Yes, I'm losing inches :-), thanks.

Shall up the vegetables (a la Christie Brinkley!) to keep constipation at bay!

Veggies are good apples can be quite high carb...have you tried apple cider vinegar? It is mean to help with weight loss and lessens appetite..

Rowgtfc72 · 11/02/2017 17:02

Well done on the inch loss chicken!

Valentine's meal tonight (at home not eating out, loads cheaper!). Bought a twix cheesecake. First treat in two weeks. Weigh in day tomorrow. Still hungry come bedtime but not as bad as last week. Went shopping yesterday, was hungry but was absolutely overwhelmed with the choice of naughty food and came out with a small bag of popcorn Grin

It's getting easier!

Putting a tenner a week into driveway repair fund. That covers my snacks I'm not having for the week and can see something concrete for it. Literally!

pastelmacaroons · 11/02/2017 17:05

what a bizare pic of CB with her seemingly standing on the water and the girls in deep?

73kittycat73 · 11/02/2017 17:17

Blimey Chicken, she looks good for her age, better than me at my age! Mind you, if I had the cash I'd be going for botox, skin surgery, the lot! Grin

73kittycat73 · 11/02/2017 17:21

Enjoy your meal Row, twix cheesecake sounds like heaven. Smile Well done for not giving in to temptation! Glad it's getting easier for you. Good luck for your weigh in. Smile

Great thread. Can I be a late joiner?
I need to lose weight and pay off some debts.!
I have no idea how much I weigh, got no scales and am too scared to do it in boots in case anyone else sees! I think I probably need to lose around 6 stone Blush to be in a healthy weight range. I'll need to invest in some scales asap.
I'm thinking of trying a low sugar diet, my sugar intake is ridiculous. Definitely in addiction territory....

I don't have massive debts but I think that's relative anyway. I'm a stay at home parent so we only have my husbands wage. It doesn't go far enough with 4 children and all the usual outgoings. I think we have £300 overdraft, about £1000 catalogue, and £1500 on credit cards. So not loads but only paying off the minimum payments, which is all we can really afford means they aren't getting much smaller!
I need to go through finances and see where we can cut back. We don't drink or smoke and rarely buy clothes so our money generally goes on bills, things the children need and grocery shopping.

73kittycat73 · 11/02/2017 17:40

Hi Oona. Smile Welcome to the thread.
Have you tried www.stepchange.org/ for help with your debts? When I had debts just paying the minimal amount got me no where as I was just paying off the interest, hardly any would go on the actual debt. Have a look at there site, they have a few options open, might take the strain away a bit.
I understand sugar addiction! Grin

73kittycat73 · 12/02/2017 00:24

*Their site.
Well, I did 5 minutes on the mini stepper earlier, and also the chest exercises:
though I only did one round. Starting off slowly so hopefully it's more likely to stick. I got a complete endorphin kick after the mini stepper too, my first one! Grin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 12/02/2017 19:18

Great work everyone!

I was in work today doing some overtime and there were cupcakes, nice ones with thick sugary icing! But I just pushed them away from me and got on with my work Grin

Good call Chicken, don't know if I could do that! Star
I did my stepper today, almost killed me! Grin. My legs killed afterwards.
I'm doing the weights on alternate days.
Hope everyone is doing ok?

Rowgtfc72 · 13/02/2017 15:05

Well done Chicken!
Forgot to get weighed Sun so will wait till next week.
Twix cheese cake was disappointing.
Well done on the exercise 73kittycat73!

Have a good week everyoneGrin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 13/02/2017 19:39

13st 3 again today.
Bit fucked off.

Maybe need to readdress my portion sizes as well as snacking.
I think a lot of it is period/constipation related though.
The main thing is DON'T GIVE UP!

73kittycat73 · 13/02/2017 20:49

Thanks Row. Smile Sorry to hear the cheesecake wasn't up to much. Mmm...cheesecake...drools...
Sorry to see you are struggling Chicken. Have you considered a laxative? Hate to lower the tone of the thread (! lol) but I used to go once, maybe twice a day. Since starting on this diet I go around every 3-4 days now so can understand your plight. (Plenty of fibre in my diet too.) Maybe once our bodies adjust it will be better?
Still keep measuring those inches, they might be showing more than your scales.
Well, I did my mini stepper today but I realised I had it on maximum resistance, so that's why it killed me yesterday! Grin I put it down a lot lower and managed 14 minutes on it. Did my arm exercises too. Glad I did because I really didn't want to do either today!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 14/02/2017 19:46

Back down to 13st 1 today PLUS I had some espressos at work and went to the toilet in a rather extravagant manner! ;-)

Cut back to just the 2 squares of dark chocolate at night. Plus only had scrambled eggs for dinner as not much in the house. Made the effort to get out at lunchtime for a walk and to pick up some salmon and strawberries for a valentine themed lunch to myself! (Pink theme!) Ate 2 sweets though - bad!

Hi Chicken. Smile Well I did my stepper today and some stomach exercises but tonight I have pigged out! Not hugely calorific stuff, but lots of it. I just wanted to eat. I've stopped now. Lets hope the damage isn't to much!

73kittycat73 · 15/02/2017 20:43

Hi all, how are you all doing today?
I think I realised why I pigged out. I tried dieting. I know that sounds weird because doh, what exactly are we doing?! lol You see, not eating chocolate and cakes, crisps, etc was just cutting down. They weren't completely banned, just a lot, lot less than before. However, I wanted to lose more weight this month so tried to restrict my evening meal and eat more salad, less other food, ie, diet. Well, as soon as you say diet I feel deprived, on edge, not satisfied, restricted. So it becomes diet, then binge. I need to get my head round finding a way to cut down without 'dieting.' Or at least find a way round it. Any ideas anyone? I'd really appreciate the input!
Also, did anyone watch that dieting programme last night on Channel 4? It was seeing if the supersizers who lost a lot of weight kept it off. The scientists on there basically said diets don't work and make you fatter by slowing your metabolism (Spl?) and when you go back to eating normally you put more weight on than before because you need less to eat. However, they didn't know an antidote to it! Surely as well it's healthier to loose weight rather than stay at 30 stone plus? I'd love to hear other views on it. Smile

Rowgtfc72 · 15/02/2017 21:09

Yes! Watched that programme on catch up this afternoon. Think they said weightloss is hormone related. Will say the less I eat the more I feel I have to eat so definitely linked to metabolism.

73kittycat73 · 16/02/2017 00:59

Hi Row Smile Was it you looking for some low calorie snacks to watch a film with before? If so, I've discovered some low calorie popcorn at Asda online: groceries.asda.com/product/all-sweet-savoury-popcorn/metcalfes-skinny-popcorn-cinema-sweet-multipack/910002489378
They have another flavour too.

Hope you're OK today Chicken?

Rowgtfc72 · 16/02/2017 17:17

Thanks 73kittykat73. We're all munching popcorn here on weekends. Didn't realise there was healthy popcorn but figured out there's got to be a good 1000 less calories in a bag of popcorn than a tube of Pringles!Grin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 16/02/2017 20:37

Hey guys, yeah, I'm 13st 1 again today. Been same weight for 3 weeks basically. I'm not too worried (yet) as lo-carb diets tend to be like that for me.

Once it gets summery, salads will be more appealing! I had some prawns for lunch which are really low-cal as well.

I watched the programme about the biggest losers, thanks for the recommendations. I think we just have to ensure that we are one of the 10% who keep it off - by exercising and prioritising our health/weight.

I am trying to think long-term. By Boxing Day 2017, I will definitely be in a better place looks and health wise! :-)

Have you heard of whooshes? (google). It is where the fat is going ut the cells fill with water so the weight stays the same for a while.

Rowgtfc72 · 18/02/2017 08:01

Liking your thinking Chicken, by Boxing Day....Grin

Was chatting diets today at work. Lots of people doing weight watchers and slimming world and lose two or three stones, only to put it back on. One on a shake diet (my brain or stomach would never understand that they were meals) one on a heartbreak diet which is good in the short term but thankfully things are looking up for this lady and she's planning meals out.

I'm going for eat less, exercise more. That's got to work, right?

I love salads, it's just the block of cheese or porkpie that waylay me a bit!

LovelyBath77 I'm going to Google that. I also hit a point were I don't lose, then I give up. If I knew it was a thing maybe I could persevere and get over the bump?

73kittycat73 · 18/02/2017 13:06

I hope so, that's what I'm doing too! Smile

LovelyBath77, will have to look up wooshes, sounds like it could be interesting.
