I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Thank you for the thoughts on the low fat foods. I'll definitely re-think how I approach them.

GreenBudgie · 02/01/2017 20:32

Evening All. Away from home yesterday, far too much food and more determined than ever to shift some fat. Weight training tonight, husband decided to join in too, was lovely having some company and he knows to just count and or shout one more rep rather than trying to hold a conversation :-). Food was yoghurt (full fat) and seeds, huge salad and egg, veg soup and feta. Totally agree with all the full fat comments, I am a veteran of 1980's low fat diets, they make you depressed and ravenous! Best wishes to all.

addstudentdinners2 · 02/01/2017 20:43

What a great idea to have overnight oats for lunch - am nicking that one!

NapoleonsNose · 02/01/2017 20:53

I'm in! Started a vlcd today but the food is absolutely revolting! Not sure I can stick to it tbh. The shakes are ok, so thinking of having two of them per day and a healthy lo-carb protein based evening meal. I've not been hungry though which I suppose is a bonus.

I've got 4 stone to lose and I'm the fattest and heaviest I've ever been. I spent most of Christmas avoiding any photos as I'm so ashamed of how fat I am. Ideally I'd like to lose 3 stone by mid-May as we have the wedding of some very good friends to go to and I want to wear a pretty frock, not just something that fits and covers me up.

SW has worked for me in the past - lost 3.5 stone around 8 years ago - but for some reason I can't get on with the new plan.

GlitterandSequins · 02/01/2017 23:07

Day one today and I am so bloody hungry but just know if I stick with it I will be fine in a couple of days but I'm so used to spending the last couple of weeks eating crap whenever I want it's hard going back to just meals!

ludog · 02/01/2017 23:41

My scales broke before Christmas so I bit the bullet today and bought new ones. Im the heaviest I've been since having my second child 18 years ago. New regime starts now. I'm aiming for healthy and unprocessed and cutting out sugar as much as possible. Good luck everyone x

ButterfliesRfree · 03/01/2017 06:49

I started today with writing down my foods I'm eating and sticking to a plan. Although I went a little over the intended amount of food eaten but it's a start and I'm drinking more water too. Good luck to you all.

ButterfliesRfree · 03/01/2017 06:52

Oh and I hope to restart couch to 5k again too.

ButterfliesRfree · 03/01/2017 06:57

Oh and I have about 2 stone to lose. Yikes :(

UsedToBeAPaxmanFan · 03/01/2017 07:04

Im in. I would like to lose a stone. Somehow I have put half a stone on over Christmas and I was already about half a stone overweightBlush

I try to eat low-carb and am usually ok with it but it went to pot over Christmas.....

Snools33 · 03/01/2017 07:19

Can I join please? Finally got the courage to get weighed today... heaviest I've ever been and 4 stone to lose! Three meals a day healthy and weight watchers online for me. Feel so disappointed I myself but trying to focus on staying positive.

InteriorLulu · 03/01/2017 09:52

Haven't got off to a great start - haven't quite got rid of the lingering cold/sore throat/chesty cough that I've had for most of the past week. It feels like it's on it's way though, so today I've started tracking what I'm eating and have menu planned for the rest of the week.

As mentioned before I'm going back on WW - old (or vintage) points, so will be using low fat where necessary to keep the points low. Generally, though, I'll be cooking from scratch, eating less processed rubbish and more fruit and vegetables.

Hoping to start running again in a couple of days, depending on chest situation. Little bit fed up that I've had to wait, but looking at the weather I'm kind of OK with that Smile

Snorfig · 03/01/2017 10:04

Started the day well but immediately ate a home made mince pie as soon as I walked into office kitchen!
So I'm going for a 50 min walk at lunch and I have to jog home as I forgot my bike lights. That'll make up for it. Yes it will. Yep. Shhhh.

Snorfig · 03/01/2017 14:19

So hungry. Gah.

thesleepystorm · 03/01/2017 15:03

I just had a pack of chocolate coins ConfusedBlush

Hi . Second day in for me . I have a stone to lose and a mum-tum to tone up.

I used to be very fit but last night i was so tired after 30 mins on the exercise bike.

I work from home so tea and biscuits / snacks/ whatever is in the fridge is a temptation for me . we have bought in healthy food and cooking from scratch , soups etc as much as possible. For me the hardest part is the motivation to exercise , especially when it is cold and dark. Walking to/from nursery later (15 mins each way) and doing some thigh toning exercises later !

JacquelineChan · 03/01/2017 15:10

diet is going well so far ..... cereal for breakfast , soup for lunch and home made low fat chicken curry for dinner. no snacks .

but need to do more exercise !!!

CancellyMcChequeface · 03/01/2017 15:23

I started a week ago today and I'm down 3.5lbs! I know it must be mostly water weight, but it's still motivating.

Today so far I've eaten an omelette cooked in coconut oil, some Greek yogurt, and apple slices with peanut butter. No exercise yet though!

TwatteryFlowers · 03/01/2017 17:29

I'm down 1lb from yesterday so I'm now 9st 6.2 Grin. Overall, since the end of July I have lost 26lb and am now technically a healthy weight but I want to lose another stone to get more into the middle of that range. Hopefully I'll achieve that by the summer but I have no specific date in mind.

Today I have eaten a tuna melt sandwich, a double decker and some homemade pickled onions. For tea we're having cheese souffle with new potatoes and veg. I don't feel particularly hungry but if someone offered me a bag of crisps or a bar of chocolate I'd struggle to turn it down!

KitKat1985 · 03/01/2017 18:03

Hi all.

Having a pretty good day so far. Had a high-fibre cereal for breakfast and beans on toast, and a low fat yogurt for lunch. Haven't snacked at all today which is progress! Also managed about a 30-40 minute walk into town.

SheFeedsYouTeaAndOranges · 03/01/2017 18:12

Cancelly Can I ask you about the cooking with coconut oil please? I have some. So far I use it for deep conditioning for my hair, moisturiser for my face and as an ingredient in my nightly turmeric milk.

I've heard it's a lot healthier to cook with than other oils. How do you find it to cook with? And can you taste any difference? Does it taste of coconut?

SheFeedsYouTeaAndOranges · 03/01/2017 18:14

Well done, KitKat Check your sugar content with that though. I think you lose weight more quickly and it's more sustainable if you go low sugar rather than low fat.

Won't mention it again though Wink

SuperFlyHigh · 03/01/2017 18:18

Last nights dinner was Linda McCartney veggie pie with potatoes, broccoli and carrots. Had earl grey tea with skim milk, 1 choc butter biscuit and orange. Today had oatso simple blueberry and apple porridge with skim milk, 5 cups tea, 4 with semi skim milk 2 with skim milk, a chocolate cream cake (Romanian Christmas), minestrone and bacon soup (whole carton m&s), 1 m&s strawberry yogurt and Vogel soya and linseed bread (no spread). Ate almost whole big bag ready salted m&s hula hoops. Walked about 90 minutes today brisk pace. Trying to do yoga class on Thursday.

SuperFlyHigh · 03/01/2017 18:20

I can strangely enough more so turn down food I fancy so eg sometimes snacks (aside from my hula hoops!) whereas before I saw it as my "treat" if that makes sense? I'm also liking eg if I have yogurt and fruit for breakfast. Helps if it's a nice nectarine etc.

d270r0 · 03/01/2017 18:28

Well done Cancelly and Flowers, nice to see some progress already!
I've eaten fairly well today, fruit&fibre cereal with milk, grapes, jacket potato with curry and loads of veg, small slice pie with 3 chips, loads of veg and gravy. And 3 squares chocolate. Also walked to school and back and did 15min exercise dvd.
