I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

Trying to do yoga class on Thursday.

Do, or do not, SFH. There is no try... Wink

Fab to see so many people taking this on and being successful at it. Very motivating...

Dizzywizz · 03/01/2017 19:24

I'm exercising 30 mins (at least) a day. I break it down so do 10 mins bike before breakfast, 10 mins yoga at bedtime and 10-20mins in the middle, normally a dog walk.

HandsomeDevil · 03/01/2017 20:52

HUNGRY.

readjusting to not having 4000 calories a day. Give it a week and I'll be accustomed to it.

Haven't done much in the way of exercise this past month either. Going to recommence twice weekly 5k runs on Saturday.

thesleepystorm · 03/01/2017 20:56

Today:

  • 2 weetabix
  • finished off 10mos marmite on toast
  • bowl tomato soup with feta cheese
  • scrambled eggs with courgette and chorizo
  • melon for pudding
  • finished off chocolate coins

Blush not a great start but not hideous I suppose.

GreenBudgie · 03/01/2017 21:24

Hi All! Not too shabby today. Yoghurt and seeds, egg, broccoli and potato, then veg stew with feta cheese. I was hungry when I got in, so nibbled radishes while prepping the stew 2 x 30 mins walkies with the hound. Hope everyone else is doing OK.

JacquelineChan · 03/01/2017 21:35

I did my exercise tonight , toning thighs and bingo wings for about 30 minutes.

Making minestrone soup tomorrow for healthy lunches !

JacquelineChan · 03/01/2017 21:38

I am hungry now though and really struggling not to pick

user1483298878 · 03/01/2017 22:26

hope you guys dont mind me joining in :) New to mumsnet and losing weight :)

Really need to lose a good bit of weight, been going up for the past few years and I really need to start to tackle it. Its gonna be hard as I love food so much lol :)

Going to start gradual with food and then maybe introduce exercise a bit later down the line. Dont have heaps of time sadly as I work ft and also study for a degree as well as doing up a house atm :)

Alfieisnoisy · 03/01/2017 23:31

Not started properly yet but we did eat three proper meals today which was fab after all the grazing done at Xmas and Neew Year.

Considering SW again but need to find a class I can join forever as it will be a lifetime this time.

NoMudNoLotus · 03/01/2017 23:33

Place marking Smile as Iv just started SW

mistywillow17 · 04/01/2017 12:44

I'm struggling with willpower at the moment in an office full of cakes, crisps and other treats. I need to get some better ideas for work lunches that actually keep me full and not peckish all afternoon. Yesterday did not go as well as hoped for that reason. Still, somehow I'm down 2 pounds from the weekend, and I don't want to spoil it, so I'll keep resisting...

Buttonmoonb4tea · 04/01/2017 13:22

Can I join this thread. I have 2 stone to lose. Trying slimming world again and exercising more. Not so easy as a single working mum. I just need a little encouragement. I'm hoping I'll get it here.

JacquelineChan · 04/01/2017 17:04

Misty , I sympathise ! working from home has it's advantages as I have binned or given away all the naughty treats.
When I worked in an office I cursed them for bringing in cakes and snacks because I have no will power.
if you have a kitchen and fridge at work , stock up on salad and sweet potatoes on mondays ... then have different fillings throughout the week - advocado , salmon, low fat cottage cheese. It is yummy and fills you up - that's how I ended up beating temptation

JacquelineChan · 04/01/2017 17:05

i really wanted a bag of crisps just now but made do with a raw carrot !

tonight i am trying for 5k on the exercise bike

JacquelineChan · 04/01/2017 17:06

Buttonmoon we will all give you encouragement !

GreenBudgie · 04/01/2017 19:24

Misty, I am going for "volume"at lunchtime, so huge pile of veg/salad, plus an egg and a slice of wholemeal bread if I am weight training later. Like Jackie's carrots, it keeps my mouth busy for long enough to register that I have eaten. Today was yoghurt and seeds, salad, egg and bread, huge pile of veg and chicken. Keep posting Folks, you are keeping me on track :-)

HandsomeDevil · 04/01/2017 20:25

still hungry Grin

today - apple and banana for breakfast
- 2 eggs royale for lunch
- mirin salmon, stir-fried veg and some noodles for supper

I didn't post my goal earlier. Am aiming for 10st7, with an interim goal of losing 1st, which would take me to 11st 4.

TwatteryFlowers · 04/01/2017 21:43

Buggered up tonight Sad

I had a tuna melt and a bar of chocolate for dinner and was expecting to have battered fish and crispy potatoes for tea, which would have got me to my calorie target for today, but our debit cards were declined so or online shopping order was cancelled and I ended up having to go to the supermarket to do it after my dc were in bed.

I was very hungry when I went, not having had anything to eat since lunchtime, so bought a couple of those lindt chocolate Santas and a double decker along with our food shopping.

It was too late to cook anything by the time I got home so I have ended up having a handful of crackers, a loaf of cheese, some pickled onions and some sandwich pickle instead. Overall, I have had almost double my limit today!

Oh well, tomorrow is a new day and all that. I'll have to try and have less and do more to make up for it.

Dizzywizz · 05/01/2017 07:42

Just start again today Twattery, I would say wipe yesterday from your mind and don't try and make up for it today, as it could mean you feel really deprived and have a binge (speaking from experience...)

Snorfig · 05/01/2017 08:04

Sneaky midweek weigh-in this morning was a massive wake up call/kick up the arse. I'm doing Dry January and increasing my running mileage, but I'm making up for all my good work by binge eating from the office kitchen which is heaving with everyone's unwanted Christmas filth. I'm also secret eating chocolate buttons in the evening to deal with my sugar cravings from avoiding alcohol.
So I've nothing to show for all my hard work!
Time to buckle down and pack loads of healthy nibbles (radishes, peppers) to keep me away from the temptations. I want to see some change on the scales come Monday!

Yolandafarthing · 05/01/2017 08:36

I was brave enough to weigh myself today. 12st2, yuck, but actually only put on 2lbs over Christmas so that isn't as bad as I expected.

I go back to work end march; id like to return to my pre pregnancy weight of 10st4 (short term goal) by then. Possible?

TwatteryFlowers · 05/01/2017 09:08

2st in almost 4 months is easily doable if you stick at it Yolanda.

After yesterday's rubbish day (well, the last month really; it's been at least 3 weeks since I was last under my daily calorie goal due to all the Christmas food and drink) I am starting afresh today. I've had a proper breakfast (fruit and nuts with yoghurt) do I don't feel hungry and I will have a light sandwich, some cheese and more nuts at around midday and then will have the fish that I was meant to have for tea yesterday today. I will not give in to temptation today and no chocolate will pass my lips!

Yolandafarthing · 05/01/2017 09:45

I just don't want to do a calorie counting diet or anything like sw as I'm a recovered bulimic and feed diets like these simply send me hurtling into relapse

So I'm just trying to eat when hungry, not really restrict anything but not go mental on carbs or sugar, nor snack, drink lots of water etc

Yolandafarthing · 05/01/2017 09:46

Find diets, not feed diets Confused

KitKat1985 · 05/01/2017 12:14

I've not snacked this week and I think I've been eating pretty sensibly so feeling pretty good so far this week. Hoping I'll have shifted at least a pound when I do weigh-in on Saturday.
