I'd like to lose about a stone. So I'm going back to my old system of writing down everything I eat, to make myself more accountable and stop eating random unhealthy stuff that I forget about twenty minutes later. The next few months of cold will be featuring lots of soup, and herbal tea instead of hot chocolate. This method usually works for me, so I need to get back on it.

I need to loose a stone aswell gonna stop my crisps biscuits and fries only treat my self on Saturdays, I've been writing what I eat since for over a decade now it really does work but these 3 months I've put 7 pounds on cause of not much exercise and comfort food I always put weight on winter cause it's cold gets dark quickly food makes me happy lol.. I finish my kids left overs these days which makes me feel greedy but one thing I've changed its been a few years I don't drink fizzy drinks and I drink 2 litres of water everyday and it's made a hell of a difference with everything my skin I don't have any break outs only once in a blue moon and I feel less bloated try it mums and friends gud luck everyone

Shaistaali · 30/12/2016 08:24

Im in aswell starting properly on 1st Jan

Vintagegoth · 30/12/2016 08:30

Went to the GP yesterday and I have put on another stone since they last weighed me. Cannot be prescribed combined pill because of my BMI, so now this is my wake up call. Need to lose 1 stone before I can go back on it and then at least a couple more to return to pre-children weight. Time to get serious.

Msqueen33 · 30/12/2016 08:34

If anyone wants a buddy think of me please 🙂 Caught a look at myself in the mirror of a changing room and looked awful. Needless to say Jan 1st is when I'll be kicking butt and taking fat!

Sallycinnamum · 30/12/2016 09:36

I'm in. I've put on half a stone in the last few months and feel awful.

Really, I need to lose a stone sp going to have a dry January and log everything on MFP.

WetPaint4 · 30/12/2016 11:00

I want to do this. I really do. So why am I in bed with cookies and milk Sad

I feel l like I'll never get back on track.

SuperFlyHigh · 30/12/2016 11:04

I'm in. For breakfast so far have had peanut butter and marmite on Vogel soya and linseed toast. 1 small glass water and 1 large mug tea with skim milk.

Yesterday. Digestive biscuits x 2 and marmite cheese x 1. Avocado on Vogel soya and linseed toast with lemon and black pepper. Evening meal Linda McCartney pie, 2 potatoes, broccoli and carrots. Also had a few cups of tea with skim and semi skim milk and some Doritos cheese with tomato Doritos salsa. Exercise was 20 minutes brisk walk round park and general walking - about 20 minutes in total.

PacificOcean · 30/12/2016 13:33

I'm in. I haven't weighed myself for ages, but I think I need to lose about two stone - that would get me into the healthy BMI category, plus a few extra pounds. I'm a curvy woman (wide hips, big boobs) so I think it's unrealistic for me to aim for the lower end of the healthy BMI range.

I'm planning to do it by exercising twice a week (running, swimming or gym) and following two simple rules which address my biggest weaknesses.

  1. No snacking - three meals a day
  2. No eating the kids' leftovers

If I find that these two rules aren't enough (i.e. I'm sticking to them but not losing weight) then I'll introduce further changes, but I'd like to see how well I get on with just those two to begin with.

Good luck everyone!

Dizzywizz · 30/12/2016 15:28

I'm in too - need to lose about 3 stone I guess. I'm aiming for 30 mins exercise a day, broken down, not too energetic - I have chronic illness so limited in what I can do.

I'm also trying to reduce some meds as can cause weight gain.

No snacking - except fruit - and no leftovers sound like good rules that I will follow as well!

GhostOfChristmasYetToCome · 30/12/2016 17:15

I've started prepping this week and have got some healthy meals batch cooked and in the freezer for going back to work next week.

I don't do 'low fat'. I tend to eat proper food, cooked properly and just watch my portion size and follow 5:2. But I don't eat stupidly (in either direction) on the 5 days. I don't find that I have any trouble sticking to the 500 cals on fast days.

I'm also starting on Sunday. I didn't see the point in starting this week when it's still Christmas stuff and food. Just seemed like I'd be setting myself up to fail.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 30/12/2016 18:19

Any room for one more one? :)

GreenBudgie · 30/12/2016 18:45

Hi to Everyone, too many to name check, but love the fact we are all going for healthy eating/improved health & fitness goals, not a specific dress size. If anyone is reading this thread in a slough of despair eating Xmas junk don't beat yourself up. I feel much better for having regular, planned meals plus some exercise than I did when I was sitting scoffing sweets and biscuits. Food today was wholemeal bread, seeds, Spanish omelette, carrot and cauliflower mash with fish. Sorry for the epic post, best wishes to all.

RufusTheSpartacusReindeer · 30/12/2016 18:46

Ds1 18th birthday on the 3rd

I will see you all on the 4th

grumpysquash3 · 30/12/2016 19:04

I'm in!

Actually haven't weighed myself since about July, but I know from my jeans that it won't be good.

Will be weighing on Jan 2nd, then losing at least a stone, ideally 1.5

I am very wobbly around the midriff, it's not a good look :(

Limurz · 30/12/2016 19:16

Yes grumpy it's my midriff too. I'm almost 49 and am sure the bloody menopause doesn't help in my case!

thiswayplease · 30/12/2016 19:23

I'm in too! I need to lose about a stone and tone up too. I'm going to start 3rd January when I'm back at work at away from temptation.

I will try to do 5 half hour work outs a week from you tube and have already bought some weights. I would quite like to try davina McCall's DVDs.

I'm going alcohol free for the month of January in an effort to beat the bulge

TwatteryFlowers · 30/12/2016 20:20

I keep trying to get started and get back on the wagon but every day this week I have gone way over my calorie target. Yesterday I was over by 260 and today it was over 1000 more than I should be eating. Oops Blush

The thing is, I don't feel like I've eaten much at all: a vegetable burger from wetherspoons without any chips; a double decker bar; 4 small chocolate coins; a small bag of tortilla chips and a broccoli cheese bake with fish. That's all I've had and it's massively over my limit.

It's days like this where I feel like I've done really well but when I tally it up I find that I've had a shit day food-wise and feel like its just not worth the hassle. Does anyone get that?

ludog · 30/12/2016 22:10

I'm in too. I've put on about three stone in the last year and have a wardrobe full of clothes that don't fit. If I could start with one stone that would be great.

mistywillow17 · 30/12/2016 22:22

I'm in. I have just under 2 stone to lose - I'm planning to cut out processed carbs as much as possible, and DH and I are going for a dry January to help kick things off (apart from when visiting MIL for dinner, as she will get overexcited and think I'm pregnant again if I'm visibly off the booze).

I have a treadmill I need to get into the habit of using as well - it's been folded away while we've been doing DIY and is in danger of turning into a very expensive coat rack if I don't start setting some time aside to use it.

tava63 · 30/12/2016 23:30

Count me in - I need to lose 2 stone to be comfortably in healthy BMI. I've lost half a stone in past couple of months eating less after putting on weight for years - here's hoping 12 months from now will have reached my goal.

WetPaint4 · 31/12/2016 00:54

TwatteryFlowers - I get that. You feel like you've worked hard and you're really encouraged until you examine it a bit more closely. And if you're anything like me you'll think to yourself 'well, since I've already failed for today, may as well have a biscuit or two.' And then eat half the packet.

Mamashark · 31/12/2016 01:09

I'm in! I've lost a bit in the last few months but have 1.5 stone to go! My fitness levels are shocking so really want to find something I can fit in for 20 minutes in the evenings.
Good luck everyone!

Rockchick1984 · 31/12/2016 09:23

Twattery I feel like that quite often, I don't eat tons but what I do have is junk so I'm still hungry but no cals left! I need to get my head round what actually makes a filling, healthy diet Blush

Vintagegoth can I ask what your BMI is for them to refuse to give you the pill? May be a good incentive for me to stick to my diet - I'm bordering on the cusp between overweight and obese Sad

Actually really looking forward to getting started on the diet now, gym re-opens on 3rd Jan but diet starts 2nd. I just feel so fat and sluggish!

KitKat1985 · 31/12/2016 11:39

Hello! Enough space for another one? I had DD2 7 weeks ago and am 2 stone heavier than I was pre-baby. Sad I'm basically 12 stone and would like to be 10. Made exactly the same mistakes first pregnancy too (excessive cake eating), and managed to lose it all again afterwards on Weight Watchers. I considered doing that again, but I feel that really I know enough of the principles to be able to do this without spending the money. So I'm on a New Year health kick. Am still exclusively breast-feeding at the moment so can't go too drastic, but I really need to cut down on cakes and biscuits in particular.

namesstress2323 · 31/12/2016 11:44

Want to lose at least 10lbs by February. Don't fit into any clothes, and as a really short person I look huge. Need to stop binging, night time is awful. not going to eat any desserts or sweets, limit the pasta bread rice pastries. I'm so depressed about my weight I don't go out the house anymore. If I don't change now I will never. :(
